The Loafers Lodge fire could bring change to the building code.
At least six people died in the Wellington fire, with another 11 unaccounted for.
The lodge had a Building Warrant of Fitness issued this March - and no concerns were raised by the independent inspector.
Built in 1971, it didn't have sprinklers - and wasn't required to.
Wellington City Councillor Ray Chung says council will be pushing the Government to make sprinklers mandatory for all accommodation outlets.
