Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to another episode of I Tell you what. I
am very intimidated today. Why I'm playing golf in the
three M Open Charity Challenge. That'll be fine, and we're
actually it's a limited number of people and it's a
real competition. I gotta win, I know, but I haven't

(00:21):
played golf, and I'm gonna be an embarrassment. I used
to be more confident. I used to play golf. I
got to pretty close scratch potential before the kids were born.
I played all the time. It was my passion, like
you love baseball, dubs, it was just my passion. I
play golf every day. I played every at least once

(00:41):
in every month in Minnesota, which is hard to do.
I always found a way to kind of get it
in there. There are some seasons you can play golf
throughout the Year's kind of hard to get your tea
in the ground. I brought a drill bit. Seriously, yeah,
you needed a drill bit. You couldn't get your tea
in the ground. I was like putting it in the granite.
And I played a lot. But it's one sport. Your

(01:04):
skill set goes away. You have to keep playing that game.
I mean, it's really all sports that way, right, I
mean it's really anything you play, chess, anything, no matter
what you do, you have to keep playing to be good.
Especially golf. There's a lot of discipline, a lot of
concentration and everything else. And I played once the kids
were born. I just I couldn't justify being out four

(01:24):
or five hours on it, you know, and put my
kid in daycare for that. And I just I'm not
trying to guilt anybody. That was just me. I'm like,
I didn't want to be my dad. My dad was
kind of like that. So I'm like, I'm just not
gonna play, you know, I'm gonna play very sparingly. And
it became like really sparingly, like never. So then I
go play now and I can keep up, and I
play and I enjoy it. I enjoy it more now,

(01:47):
like playing with my kids because now they want to play.
They didn't want to play earlier. Try to get them
into it. They weren't. They just didn't want to do it.
Now they're really getting into it. So now we do play.
But oh my gosh, am I awful now. But these
tournaments used to look forward to them because it's like
a today isn't a pro am. Well, maybe it is
a pro I don't know if it's prom or not.
There may be a pro in there. I don't know.

(02:10):
I like I can kind of compete. But dude, I'm
gonna be spraying those things left and right. Oh, you're
gonna be fine to hit houses.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
You're good.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
No I'm not. Yeah, No, I'm really not.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
It'll be it'll it'll be like riding a bike.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
No, it probably won't be. It probably won't go super great.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
You should have fun and don't don't feel bad because
what it's just it's a charity thing.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
It should be kind of for fun.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Oh, it is for fun, and they know that all
going in. But I still I have a very competitive
mindset and about everything that I do. It doesn't matter
in conversation, in sports and everything. I just love, you know,
even if I don't mean it. It's just fun to win. Yeah,
even if it's like in a conversation or whatever. You know,

(02:52):
it's just like just throw zingers around. I don't know,
just I just love to compete. But when in golf,
you really before you're competing with anyone else, you are
really competing more so with yourself.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yes, yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Physically, Yeah, you don't have another teammate to dribble the ball,
to to do the slam dunk. If your ankles feel
a little hurt and you have to do everything, yeah,
you got nobody to blame but yourself.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Yep, it'll be good, I think. I mean when I
say good, it might not go perfectly, but.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Oh I know it. Well, it's already. It's gonna be
the four. It's gonna be the F word express.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
How's the weather supposed to be?

Speaker 1 (03:27):
More efforts out there this afternoon than you have ever
heard in your entire life coming out of it? And
that's four, by the way, four four. Even before I hit,
I'm just gonna go, hey four, two fairways over to
the right four because that's right, that's right.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Better than one personality on another station. Apparently I heard
it was terrible.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
That's why I'm doing it this year, I guess. So
there's a lot of pressure there. What if I'm worse.
I can't be worse than that, though.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
No, you've played before, you play with your kids.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Yeah, you're good, You're right.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
We'll see you can hold your own.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
I just I'm just I'm too competitive, So we'll see
it'll be fun. You want to do it?

Speaker 3 (04:06):
No, Sam, No, not really.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
I've got well and they're just looking for some a
quote celebrity.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
She's full on the sipping and swinging this week.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah, yeah, swinging.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
So Random McDaniel's gonna take the turn in my stead.
So I'm going to do the front line then Random
McDaniel from the Vikes.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
That's cool.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Viking's Lord, he's gonna be gonna come in. He's gonna
make it look like just make me look like a fool. Whoever.
They're gonna be so blessed to get him by the
turn like a good oh, thank gosh. Yeah, he can
probably just absolutely crush it.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
He's a very cool guy. That'll be fun.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Yeah, there you go, so we'll see. I don't know,
it's just a little intimidated here today. It's tough to
do a show when you're intimidated by something.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Oh, you'll be fine.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
That at noon today the wheels are going to fall off.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Where's it at?

Speaker 1 (04:54):
I don't know, you know what, I don't Probably KEPC
and Blaine isn't it, I believe.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
So probably you gotta check your details where I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I think it's TV. I think it's TPC, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
I don't know. If somebody tell you have to go
in there confident, you have to go into the clubhouse
and go where's the first tea and what's the course record?

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Okay, well, first I need to know where the course
I'm not I'm not confident in that is it? Can
you look it up? It's a three M open charity
challenge that's got to be used to be at the
old three M course.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yeah, the golf club and Blaine Mine.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yeah, TPC, Yeah, yeah, yeah, it don't go fine, I
believe in you.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
But at the same piece, is that the same as
Bunker Hills or is that different?

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Different?

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Okay, I remember playing Bunker Hills.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Yeah, this is TPC Twin City.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Oh dude, I'm gonna hack that thing up. They've got
a big tournament coming up in a week or so.
That course will not look the same when I'm doing.
It's just not gonna be any sand left in the
sand traps. It don't be any greens left of the greens.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
It's gonna be like a little tornado to throw.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
You're just playing the front nine.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I'm just playing the front nine. Yeah, do you see that?
Is that it says in there.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
No, it's I'm looking at the course map.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
I used to be so into it. That's another thing,
like years ago, and I get signed up to do
this stuff.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
There's a lot of fours and threes on the front.
I think you're good.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
No, I hate those. I need scoring holes, I need fives. Okay,
it's a regulation course, so I'm assuming. I'm it's gonna
be the same as anything else, a lot of fores, tubs.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
It'll be fine.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
It's gonna be interesting. My clubs are thirty years old.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
I got them when I was quite young with my
father at a store called Nevada Bobs.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
My guy, make a difference. Forty years old doesn't make
a difference how old they are.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Oh yeah, yeah, jeeh so much.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
I'm like d I mean, it's like rocks with rubber
bands tied to sticks. Compared to the courses now, but
compared to the clubs nowadays. Oh yeah, they're gonna laugh.
Oh my god, I never even thought of that. They're
gonna see these clubs because they are old. They look old.
You know, that's the bag that they're in, torn and tattered,
and oh yeah, that's.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Gonna be where happy Gilmore.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Yeah, you probably could have gotten by with the clubs,
but with a bag that's torn and tawned.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
He'll be like, what in the world, dude.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
This is I. I gotta go to a second swing
when I get off here. I need to get fitted
real quick, real fast, and then i'd come back after
the round. I'm sorry, these don't work.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
I mean if you do it the same day, yeah,
why not?

Speaker 1 (07:27):
So that's my day today and Dubs, you're going off
to Vegas?

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah, I tell everybody.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, he's going out there with a
bunch of strippers and cocaine. Sure, nice big bachelor party.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Is it a buddy from Chicago? Yeah? Yeah, there's nothing
good that ever comes out of Chicago.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
But it is funny because, uh, somebody brought it up
to my uh to my wife. Her coworker was like, wait,
he's going to Vegas. His sleep's going to be all
messed up. And I never thought about this that they're
two hours behind. So I usually wake up four o'clock
every day, which is two o'clock their time, and then
when I don't set an alarm, I wake up at
six am, which is four am their time.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
I go.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
What am I gonna do? You guys, there's like I mean,
only the casino flour is probably open.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Yeah. You will know that they have no windows, so
you're fine. They have no windows. You won't know if
it's light at night, day or night.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Yeah, but it's Vegas. Isn't everything open pretty much all
the time?

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Pretty much?

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, pretty much.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
It'll be fine.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Yeah. You always can get a snack, you can always
get a drink.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
Yeah. Plus you'll probably still be up partying from the night.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Before, and I can watch and play. Is it an
escort or a girlfriend? Okay? The guys walking through.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
The I've been I've been to Vegas once and I
was somewhat traumatized during my time there.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
This will be my second time there.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Maybe i've been there. So I was there.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
I was there to compete for Miss Audio America, and
then I did I forgot.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
I did go there a second time.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
That's good.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
No, It's just.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Like, you're so easy to get fired up. I just
love it. It's just love it. I just love it
when she gets when she named drafts, I'm at rodeo queen,
but you're that you say that.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
It does make me sound like this hoity toity something.
But just that way, that's what I was there for.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
You're on a pedestal of your greatness.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
And are and I just saying, my first time to
Vegas was for this thing.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Now you just sa one out there for a rodeo.
But but but I love fact. I know you were
there because you were Queen Echelon Rodeo, Queen Miss Galaxy
of Rodeos.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
I had a pageant, like I was competing in a pageant. Yes,
it's not. I wasn't just there. I wasn't there just
for the rodeo.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Yeah did you win?

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Obviously not didn't even make ten.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Why did you even bring it out?

Speaker 4 (09:38):
Well, because I've been there twice, I forgot about the
other time. But yeah, it was. It was quite traumatizing.
I saw things that I should have never seen.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
I was a lot all of you my first time
out there, and I was traumatized to I was crying
for my mom stories. Thank you for listening to this
