Five legends of New Zealand lawn bowls have been named amongst the first members of the World Bowls Hall of Fame.
World Bowls held a ceremony in Malaysia last night to officially name its inaugural hall of fame inductees, with New Zealanders Peter Belliss, Rowan Brassey, Jo Edwards, Sharon Sims and Val Smith all recognised for their contribution to the sport.
Bowls New Zealand CEO Mark Cameron extended his congratulations to the athletes.
“It’s a tremendous honour to see five of our own recognised on the world stage,” said Cameron.
“Each of these athletes has not only achieved remarkable success on the green but has also inspired generations of bowlers here in New Zealand and beyond. Their induction is a proud moment for our sport and our country.”
