Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Gary and Shannon and you're listening to KFI
AM six forty, the Gary and Shannon Show on demand
on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
While we talked earlier about the Israeli intelligence that was
supposedly passed on that the Iran has a new plot
to kill President Trump, there was a story also that
eight of those guys indicted on murder and terrorism conspiracy
charges were in court yesterday. This indictment, returned in Ohio,
(00:32):
charges eight people for their alleged roles in the drone
and sniper attack that was supposedly planned on the UFC
Cage Fighting Show at the White House. All eight of
them charged with two separate conspiracies, one to provide material
sports to terrorists and a second to commit murder on
a federal government territory and to murder a federal government official.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
So do we have any prepare for the and and
times music.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
And Times music?
Speaker 1 (01:05):
I feel like we should get some sort of disaster
like prepare for disaster, impending doom music, something like that.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
And then Jesus gets here first, how does that work?
Speaker 2 (01:20):
He ushers in, he.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Ushers it in. I feel like Jesus wouldn't do that.
I don't think you would do that.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Well, he's not bringing Teddy bears and milkshakes for everybody.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
I know that.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
I like, if the end happens and then Jesus shows
up and he's like, Hey, that sucked, come with me.
That makes sense because it's kind of like the Old Testament.
And then Jesus showed up, He's like, that sucked, Come
with me, right, Like that's kind of his mo o.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Anyway, I think the.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Whole point is, don't wait for the end times, come
with me.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Ah, that's the part I'm missing.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
You the basics of it. It just seems like the timeline.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Okay, okay, California's first storms of the monsoon season, guys
are headed here this weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Was this was this last year or two years ago
that we had a good potential. Was it August where
the remnants of a hurricane?
Speaker 4 (02:23):
I think so.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Remember they had like tornado watches and stuff, and it
was super muggy, weird and rainy.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah, I mean like every other part of the entire country.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
But the storms could reach Central California as early a Sunday. Hey,
I know, someone going to Central California on Sunday, go
on gusty winds across the Sierra ten percent chance of
lightning producing very little rain.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
However, Oh that's not.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
In fact, they say that this is going to be
a mess when it comes to heightened wildfire risks, that
some of California's largest were corded. Fires have started with
these dry lightning strikes, including the August Complex fire in
twenty twenty, which became the states first to burn more
than a million acres.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
That's a blind spot for me.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Twenty twenty, we had so much going on with COVID,
I don't remember there also being a fire to wipe
out fires. Yeah, the mountain thunderstorms are expected to continue
Monday and Tuesday. That could be accompanied by rain that
will dampen the fire risk. That's good, Yeah, but just
about a tenth of an inch of precipitation.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Well, if the fire starts on Sunday and it's out
by Monday, you know that's not a bad thing. That's
a much more natural cycle.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Ten percent to twenty percent chance of lightning in La Ventura,
Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Counties, mostly in the mountain areas. There's Sunday through Thursday.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
I'm going up to San Louis on Thursday to watch
ice Cube at the fair.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Chris Stapleton is playing also at that fair. Oh okay,
but he's playing before the fair opens. It's like a
pre fair show. I don't know why they did it
that way.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
I'm going to get myself a funnel cake and a corn.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Dog, just one huh.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
One of my girlfriends said, yeah, the kids want to
see ice Cube and I said I know him, and
she said, of course you do.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
And then she said, so we're going to go to
the fair.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
That doesn't count.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
And I said, uh, yeah, I'll go to the fair.
And all I could think of about was a funnel
cake and a corn dog, not not seeing Cube, not
seeing your friend.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
I know.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Well, I feel like now that we like hung out
with him, everything else kind of pales.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
And he was very nice for those of you.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
He was so nice to us.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
He came through the stations here and through finagling, and
by the seat of our pants he graced us with
was like an entire half hour.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
It seemed like Oscar made that happen, like Oscar cornered
that guy at the kudos.
Speaker 6 (05:00):
Shannon, Yeah, let me get it straight. So you're happy
for Britney Spears because instead of a downward spiral, she's
established a stable orbit around sanity.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
Yeah, I'll take that exactly.
Speaker 6 (05:15):
Yeah, I guess that's what it would be called.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
I mean, listen, that's a good way of putting it,
and it's the best option right now. It doesn't appear
that she's going to pull the nose up on this thing.
You might as well let her circle and dump the
fuel as.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Long as she's not hurting herself, you know, and she's
got a driver and she just seems to be enjoying herself.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
This is Tommy and orgon, Tommy, let's go with the waffle.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
Frize, come on now, Okay, Happy Friday?
Speaker 2 (05:45):
And Gary, thank you.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
I think that actually might be Conway. I think he's
an organ right now. And that sounded like instead of Timmy,
he said, Tommy, this is Scott from Chicagoland, Illinois.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
My favor fry is the Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Very Midwest steak fries of very Midwest guys.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Are we doing this? Are we doing French fry Friday?
Speaker 4 (06:09):
I think we are. What is happening in honor of
Love Island.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
I can smell it.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Sea Lions are fighting back. The latest animal to fight
back against human intrusion, the Sea Lions.
Speaker 7 (06:22):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
I agree with Garry about bullying Alley's, but where he
really moves to go is Tony's Darts Away in Burbank
because they have this thing that's called Becky's Badass Fries
and they're basically buffalo fries, blue cheese, and happiness.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
I really enjoy there. Yeah, have we been there together?
I feel like we have sounds about right. Maybe we
went to lunch there before the show started.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
I mean I remember it's getting like sliders or something.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Tony's Starts Away is great, but Becky's Badass Fries also
sound fantastic.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
I went there with my sister form.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
I'm not your sister.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
I want to have malt vinegar on my fries.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Yes, yes, it is in North Carolina. I love really joint.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
I really enjoy your show and wistening, even though I
now live in what North Carolina?
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Where in North Carolina? I mean, are we talking Charlotte?
Are we talking.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Mooresville?
Speaker 2 (07:34):
You're gonna end with Charlotte?
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Those are where I know I love malt vinegar, and
in fact I will order fish and chips just as
a vehicle for malt vinegar.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Sometimes I've heard that before. You Yeah, fish and chips
are a once in a whild thing.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
They're delicious, glorious vinegar.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
The places in Seattle that you instead of just you know,
a cod or something like that, you can order which
species of fish you want as part of your fish
and chips. I tell you what, I'm an outlier.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
I like crinkled cut no fries from frozen from the supermarket,
and I beat.
Speaker 7 (08:11):
Them up all right.
Speaker 5 (08:16):
A little bit, and that's how I like them. Thank you,
good show. How good?
Speaker 2 (08:22):
We guys calling from Maryland?
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Oh wow?
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Where in Maryland? I mean Baltimore. Outside of Baltimore, Baltimore.
We need to be more specificalwhere else.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
If you have not yet seen this video of the
sea lions chasing people off each down at San Diego,
it's pretty funny. This video was posted a couple of
days ago. Dion captured this moment the two giant sea
lions hit the shore and started chasing people at the beach.
One sea lion suddenly charged at a bunch of beach
(08:57):
goers barreling across the sand. They're shrieking, they're sprinting away
while this thing is barking at the big giving chase
Lahoya specifically, well they said San Diego. I'm sure it's
more specific than that, but point La Joya. It's become
a popular tourist destination to view the animals up close.
(09:18):
But in those other places that you can see these
animals up close, they're not pretty. They're they're I mean,
they're strange. We're drawn to that. It's but they will
kill you. They will kill you. Really, they will bite you.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
You they don't kill you.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
What do you mean They don't kill you. They're not
going to eat you. But if they're protecting what their
nest or their mating pair or whatever, you will.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
They don't move fast enough to kill you.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
That doesn't matter once they get a hold of you.
And listen, I saw that video. Some of those people
aren't moving very fast.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Well, Gary, not everybody is, you know, doing They actually
move pretty good.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Well, that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
When you see a sea lion coming after you, you think, oh,
sea lion, and you don't realize that they're not there
to give you hugs and kisses.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
They're not there to, you know, balance the beach ball
on their nose.
Speaker 8 (10:18):
See.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
The city of San Diego has had to warn people
several times about the potential dangers of going your wildlife.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Very rare for a sea lion to attack a human,
but they do have powerful jaws and sharp teeth, like
you said, when they're defending their pups or they're feeling cornered.
And that's an That was an overpopulated cove, La Joya Cove.
There was too many people in that cove. The males
apparently are extremely territorial, especially during mating season.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
They can bite. They're not going to kill you.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Gary.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Have you ever seen these elephant seals up at San Simeon.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
I don't know, not that I remember.
Speaker 8 (10:59):
Man.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
It is a couple of different places that it's just
massive beach. It's just littered with these things laying around,
lazing in the sun.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
And it smells Elephant seals will kill you.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
That's what I said. They'll all kill you. All of
nature will kill you, all of it. At some point,
you're being a little alarmist. I just want people to
be careful and be aware. This thing is here's it.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Well, people can kill you well, mosquitoes can kill you. Yes, I.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Mean, but this is a big there's a big, lunking
animal that does not like you. They just don't.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
You can't.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
It's not true they don't like you.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Well, no, they feel threatened. If they feel threatened, they attack.
That's not that they don't like you.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
I think that's the definition of it.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
I think someone's going on vacation and someone's getting a
little worried about what they're going to encounter on the road.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
I will be passing by the elephant's seals at San Simeon.
Speaker 8 (12:01):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
San Simeon's beautiful and peaceful. Right, you're gonna be okay.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
No, I'm gonna be okay. But there will be somebody
wh wants to jump over the bar, and I'm will
take a picture of Elphie tail.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Mama, all right, get the camera.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
That's not what you're gonna find.
Speaker 7 (12:23):
No, that was me.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
That was me yelling at my wife.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Oh okay, you call her mama, mama.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Oh my god, Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Look at that seal. Oh get it. I think he
likes me.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
The Heather Brooker is coming up next. We'll get your
weekend entertainment report when we return.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Mama.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Oh my god, seriously, could you imagine the look on
your wife's face if you called her mama like that?
Speaker 2 (12:56):
No, but I could see the back of her head
as she walked away from you.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Yeah, like for forever.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
I could see the car as it's driving down the street.
I could see the courier with the divorce papers.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
He's holding the dog and leaving.
Speaker 7 (13:11):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
These news nuggets you need to know are disturbing. If
you like disturbing, well, of course you like disturbing. You're
listening to this show. You're in for real treat today.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Yeah, Matt gave us I think fourteen and we have
to try to pare it down.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
Do you think that we have ruined Matt?
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I think his eyes are open, Matt, like you. You
can correct me if I'm wrong here. His eyes are
open to me.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
He's not a sheltered person. He's from Long Island, right,
but something. Yeah, but I still think that we've ruined
a bit of his sensibilities.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
No, I think I just I give more innocent.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
You do given a sent Okay, that's good. That makes
me feel better. There was a little bit of mischief
underneath that. Jennifer, did I miss where everybody hyped up
Jack in the Box curly fries?
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Oh those are good. Those are legit good. You know
what I forgot about those?
Speaker 2 (14:16):
I'm being a Jack in the Box in thirty years,
but that is my best.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
That is the best menu, along with their like toasted
buttered bread that they've used for years that seem to remember.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
The Jack in the Box was the was the one
fast food place where you could order a combo bag
of French fries and onion rings. Yes, you're absolutely right, right, yep,
that would have been junior high.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
You can also get like like tacos and a chicken sandwich.
You have the tacos like they have those slic American
cheese in it.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Right, anyway, and Brooker has joined us. We talk on
Fridays about the world of entertainment.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
Whither what's your favorite French fry? The style?
Speaker 1 (14:58):
It doesn't need to be the brand or Kim the brand,
but the style. Like we like my favorite shoes string,
Gary's favorite of steak.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
You know, I used to be a steak fry kind
of gal, but I will say I do love McDonald's fries.
I think they are better, eat them quickly and hot. Yeah,
right on the thing. I like a good just like
regular fry, just a regular, not a home fry. Gal,
don't give me the chunks of potatoes. I don't want that. Yeah,
but I do like a McDonald's.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Fry just like a m fries.
Speaker 5 (15:27):
Interesting.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
Yeah, you know the chunks they mix up with the
onions and the bell peppers and stuff.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Yeah. I like that breakfast food.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Maybe for breakfast, but if I'm doing potato at breakfast,
I'm doing hash brown every time, smart all day.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
I like a hash brown in a breakfast burrito as
opposed to potatoes.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
But I'd like it to be crispy.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
Do not give me the I don't want to hash brown. Yeah,
all right, sorry.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Entertainment, here we go. Mowana, the live action Mohana is
opening up this weekend. They had a huge event at
the Hollywood Bowl this week, big premiere with the cast.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
How Far I'll Go is my favorite, one of my
favorite Disney songs.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
It's so emotional, So they bring that back. Is there
a new song? There's new songs, there's new music. Okay,
and this is getting some interesting feedback online. Generally, I
feel like people, you know, just drool over anything Disney does,
and but lately they've had some pretty big misses with
their live action stuff, in particular Aladdin. Aladdin was was
(16:29):
a kind of a disappointment. I mean, but that's so
hard to match the energy and the joy that Robin
and Williams brought to Aladdin, true, and you can't really
do that in a live action setting. So that was,
you know, I think, a misstep, but it's, you know whatever.
So Molana for me, I love the rock. I can
(16:49):
watch Dwayne Johnson. He's very watchable. He's very affable and
engaging on screen. Seeing him bring Maui, the demigod that
he played or he voiced in the original Mawana to
life was really fun once you get past that he's
wearing a wig and a little bit of like a
bodysuit kind of a thing because he's trimmed down now.
(17:10):
He's not the big hulkin like.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Yeah, we saw him on the roast of Kevin Hart
and he looked, yeah, almost unhealthy compared to what he
what he looked like before.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
Massively, I don't know if I don't know if he
got hit by the ozembic Manjaro situation that's happening in Hollywood,
but he's trimmed down in real life. So in the
movie he's wearing you know, a little bit of a
body suit and a wig. However, it's not that distracting
because he's so watchable and so funny and charming, like
he always is. The young lady who's playing Mahana, her
name is Catherine Lagaya, She's from Australia, is phenomenal voice,
(17:46):
beautiful songs as always. That's one thing I feel like
Disney just always gets right. The music is incredible, and
it's a similar kind of story about finding herself and
helping her family and finding who she is. And you
know it's gonna resonate with families and and you know,
young kids especially, So yeah, it's a it's a good movie.
(18:06):
Is it the best live action? Do we need this
live action? You know, people can debate that forever, but
it's an it's an enjoyable movie at the box office.
Both show.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Is there a Disney movie that you love that you
think should be turned into live action?
Speaker 4 (18:21):
I feel like they've already kind of taken a lot
of the animated movies from my childhood, like Little Mermaid
and all that, and turned them into live action already,
like one hundred one Dalmatians. You know, they've already done
a lot of those, so and I didn't feel like
those needed to be live action.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
So I always loved the and it's been done, not
disney fied, but it's been done a million times over.
Is the robin Hood that they used to have, Oh,
the old robin Hood, the Old Sword and the Stone. Yeah,
the old classic cartoons like that that they did.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
You didn't think robin Hood, Men and Tites was the
well that didn't do it.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
I don't know how the are gonna make a Fox
be the actual robin Hood.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
Okay, but they did Jungle Book. I mean, I will
say maybe Fox and the Hound.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Oh that would be amazing.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
Oh my god, how would they do it?
Speaker 5 (19:10):
Though?
Speaker 7 (19:11):
They would?
Speaker 3 (19:11):
I will Fox a little Hound.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
I mean, they would have to be the bestest of friends.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
I got too.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
What about Atlantis or Treasure Planet.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
I don't think either one of those are Disney movies.
I think they're like Atlantis.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Maybe, yeah, I don't know. I think that Disney has
already kind of dug through their archives and remade, you know, Cinderella,
Sleeping Beauty, you know why?
Speaker 1 (19:37):
You know, maybe rumpelstilt Skins.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
I think it's a Disney character because it's part of
the that's a fun one.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Atlantis Lost Empire is a Disney feature.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
It's a very niche niche When did it come out?
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Off my radar? Two thousand and one? Atlanta's The Lost
Empire came out two thousand ems a baby.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
I think they should do all the grim Tales and
just terrify people.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
Yeah, what about the TV shows like Disney TV, like
animated cartoons, any of those should be turned into a
live action situation like Details.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
They could do Tangled and make that live action.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
They are doing that.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
They are I did not know.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Yes, it stars Milo Mannheim, and my daughter is very
excited about that because he is amazing casting as Flynn Ryder.
He's going to be in that. So, yeah, they're doing
a live action Tangled.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Not zach LEVI huh, no interest.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Who is a lovely human being. By the way, I've
met him several times. I have a friend who was
pretty close to him and said that he was really
very nice, down to earth guy.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
I mean should say it might have been a you know,
a misstep on his partner. No, it made him a
lot of money and good for him. Yeah, good make
that money Heather Brooker's joints. We'll talk more entertainment stuff,
including Evil Dead Burn coming up, and Danny McBride, a
New York Times bestseller and author.
Speaker 7 (21:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
I read a review and then the New York Times
about this looks pretty darn good.
Speaker 7 (21:11):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
A Gary big four headed lazy ass song.
Speaker 8 (21:23):
Be it.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
You're trying to make fun of us. So I know
about saying Mama drawn with you. Boy?
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Huh? That sounded legit.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
That was not legit.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
He sounded real.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
That was not really.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
That sounds like a real man who calls his old
lady Mama. Southern Michael Monks has good accent skills. That
was not my No one has said anything about the
bistro fry.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
That's the classic Belgium French fry. You get in the
Niserberger joints, and sometimes they're made from.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
Scratch detail and those are.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
The beast about bestro fry. Never heard of.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Those bistro fry sounds like overpriced fry to me.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
Maybe like homemade and some kinds of just.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
Like shoestring fries, like the crispy shoe string French fries.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Yeah, I enjoyed. Guys are good.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
That's a solid pool shut down. Yeah, you gotta move, sorry,
little still.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
You could go to the one down the from your town.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
No I couldn't. I don't think we have to find it.
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 7 (22:33):
Hi.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Hi, others here and we're talking about entertainment stuff. Yes,
let's discuss the Will Ferrell.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
So. Will Farrell has a new show out on Netflix.
It is called The Hawk, and he plays a pro
golfer who's kind of lost his way a little bit.
And it is as I got to see the first
two episodes last night at the premiere, and it is
as funny and will faarreley as you can imagine. And
(23:01):
the premiere itself was really fun. And when we went
into the theater, he spoke for just a couple of
minutes right before the show began, and he was talking
about how thrilled he was to be able to film
this show in California. And this is what I had
to say, shooting in California.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
But hopefully. I want to thank myself.
Speaker 8 (23:27):
Because without me you would be here, and everything you
like about the show, I thought everything you didn't like
it of was forced on me by the writers, So
just remember that. I do want to though, I really
do want to thank everyone at the Netflix for supporting
(23:47):
a show like this, and for supporting comedy in general.
Comedy is free speech.
Speaker 5 (24:00):
There are a lot.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Of things I would like to say as a comedian.
Speaker 8 (24:04):
There are other things I will never say, but I
need to have the choice to.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Make those decisions, right. So that's what he said, which
I thought was really interesting. He applauded being able to
film in California and he was encouraging more people to
shoot here in California and in LA, which you know,
got a big applause, and then him saying, you know,
kind of a reference to you know, comedy and being
able to be as a comedian, be free with your
(24:30):
comedy with so I really I thought that was really funny.
The show itself, very will fare esque, very profane. Fortune
Fimester is also in it. Molly Shannon is also in it,
and it's nice to see a good, funny, silly comedy comeback. Also,
if you like golf. If you're into golf, you'll enjoy
it as well. There's a lot of golf funny golf.
(24:50):
Are there golfers in it? I mean, are there like professionals?
Speaker 3 (24:52):
I mean it's like Michael Monks and Chris Marilyn it.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
No.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
I wondered that. I wondered if they saw because I
posted a video on my social I wonder if they
saw my hole in one. I know they were at
Top Golf. Wait what Yeah, they had a pudding green
at the premiere last night and I was the only
one who got a hole in one. Great, I got
a free T shirt. I was like, no way, I'm so.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
I was very excited.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
I was like, the least sporty person.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
A mini golf is the great leveler of athletic ability.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
It really is.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
I think literally everyone was like, oh wow, this old
lady got it. So yeah, so watch out Monks and
merl We're coming for your golf skills. So it's a
fun show.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
It's called The Hawk.
Speaker 8 (25:31):
The Hawk.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
Yeah it looks fun.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Next Thursday, I'll check out.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Yeah, it looks it's a fun little comedy.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Wilfare funny. Luke Wilson is in this Brother Owen Wilson
is in the Apple showy golf shick Stick Stick Stick. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
I just want to mention this the Danny McBride book.
It is a story collection book and it's called The
Thrilling Tales of Modern Men. He is Kenny Powers in
the HBO show he Spound and Down. He wrote and
created that show, just like he did with Vice Principles
and The Righteous Gemstones. I had not known this before
(26:09):
they did the profile in the paper last week. I
thought he was just acting in all of these things.
He's produced horror films Halloween as well as it started
in sci fi Alien Covenant. When ever, since he's been young,
he's been writing short fiction. Anyway, they're calling this New
York Times bestseller addictive, unpredictable, darkly hilarious collection of stories
(26:30):
from Danny McBride.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
Absolutely worth checking out. I've been seeing him pop up
in my feed for the past several weeks. He's been
on a tour promoting this book. And if you like
his sense of humor, if you like his writing, his sensibility,
this is definitely a book you want to get. Grab it.
Read it by the pool, Read it by the beach.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
That was the thing with Righteous Gemstones. It was so
quick and so sharp, so sharp it was there was
so much almost wasted because you were onto the next thing.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
You know, he's a very smart writer. And what he
does is he does not exploit his characters. You can
see he really loves his characters, but he exploits the
ridiculousness of their lives sometimes in the situations that they're in.
And I just think he's so great and such a
smart writer. And he doesn't get involved in a lot
of the political stuff that's happening in the world today.
(27:17):
He just does his art. He does his writing and
his comedy, and he dips.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Out, which is funny. I mean to go back to
Will Ferrell in his comments about the ability to do
comedy and to maintain freedom I suppose to say what
you want to say. Danny McBride is much more on
the edge of that than Will Ferrell ever has been.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
Yeah, for sure. And dannymy bride is very edgy in
a lot of his comedy, and Will Ferrell is too.
This is probably one of the edgier things I've seen
Will Ferrell do in this show. So if you enjoy
dannymy Bride's humor. You'll definitely enjoy this book as well.
And also Evil Dead New Evil Dead movie is at
the theater as well. It's not getting great reviews, but
if you're a fan of the Evil Dead franchise, definitely
(27:59):
check it out.
Speaker 5 (28:00):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
Oh my gosh, you're welcome.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
So doing on Sunday show.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
Oh on Sunday. You know, the Pro Beach Volleyball League
is having an exhibition not exhibition game. They're competing this
weekend for a spot in the top lea top of
the leagues. So I'm having one of the pro volleyball
players it's going to come on and talk about they're
leveling up for the Olympics basically, and what they're doing
is they're playing at Alamedo's Beach, which is where the
(28:27):
Olympics are going to be held in twenty twenty eight
for Pro Beach Volleyball. And she's talking about what that feels,
what's going to be like to be sort of on
the sands where they haven't been since twenty ten competing. Awesome, Yeah,
thank you, thanks guys, thank.
