Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's k IF. I am six forty and you're listening
to the Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. Hey,
when you buy gas at at a gas station, you
have no idea what is coming out of that pump,
whether it's eighty seven octane, ninety ninety seven one oh two,
(00:21):
whatever it is. It could also be diesel fuel. You know.
The guy that dumps the fuel into the tank, he
could have been I don't know, on Facebook or TikTok
and not really watching what he's what he's doing. And
this happened, and I think about it all the time
whenever I pump gas, I'm like, oh, this is what
I'm what it really is as I don't know, there's
(00:44):
no way to tell, you know, I'm not a trained
mechanic mechanic, so I can't tell whether that's diesel fuel
or unleted gasoline. And it happened in Florida, and they
got a big problem, big problem going on.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
It's huge, big bill and stopped at the circle K
at twenty four to ninety.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Laurel rode in New Comas. After filling up his tank,
he headed south Torton.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
It started to sputter a bit.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
He thought it could possibly be a tick with his
newly purchased vehicle.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
I bet it's diesel fuel.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
But the next morning he knew it wasn't just that
it had smoke, which it hadn't done that since I
bought it, and it did have an odd smell coming
out of the exhaust and just running horribly.
Speaker 6 (01:29):
That night.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Bill wasn't alone.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yeah, somebody sold him diesel in his unleaded car.
Speaker 7 (01:36):
My car kind of started to sputter out a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Brittany young encountered the same thing after filling up her new.
Speaker 7 (01:42):
Kia, and I had it towed to them so they
can look in and see what the issue was.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
And this is a big deal because they have to
take the entire engine apart and vice versa. If you
have a diesel truck and you put unleaded gas into it,
they literally have to take the engine apart and drain
all the fuel. It's very expensive and takes a long time.
Speaker 7 (02:05):
And that is when they found the diesel in my guest.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Bill found out the same dip yeap diesel instead of
unleaded and that's going to be a major, major hassle
and very expensive to fix.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
No s this after going to AutoZone.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
He's like, it might be a bad gas because this
is the second one I've seen today.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
On social media, both Bill and Brittany found others with
the same problem. A spokesperson for circle k told us
the troubles resulted from diesel fuel being delivered inadvertently into
a gasoline storage tank.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
There we go, there it is. I worry about this
all the time, and it's happened.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
As soon as they were aware, they shut down the
pumps on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
They emptied, cleaned, and.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Replenished their storage takes. Circle K says they are committed
to making this problem right and ask customers to file
a claim to be reimbursed for any repairs.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
How is this possibly happening? Though? I mean, isn't They
are very distinctly marked those those major tanks under a
gas station unleaded premium diesel.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Repairs have ranged upwards of seven hundred dollars for some.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
We're barely getting by as it is and can't really
afford any extra bills to cover you know, something that
wasn't even our fault.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah, if you get off, it's seven hundred dollars to
fix that that you got a great mechanic who's given
you a sweet deal.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Bill and Brittany just hope everything that.
Speaker 8 (03:27):
They would have because you can't put a diesel pump
into an unleaded tank because they have different size nozzles, right,
and they should have the same thing at the point
where you know where the tanks are are being loaded
from the fuel tankers.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
That's right. Problems solved, Yeah, but somebody wasn't paying attention
or they did this on purpose. Those are the only
two options.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Bill and Brittany just hope everything will be made right.
Speaker 7 (03:57):
As long as I can get my repair money back,
I'll be happy. And I know accidents happen. You know,
people are human. I totally understand that, but I just
want circle k to make sure that they make everything
right for everybody so that nobody's having to come out
of pocket for their mistake.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, all right. Facebook marketplace nightmare.
I've been hearing about this for a while, the nightmare
that is Facebook Marketplace, but I never thought i'd get
this far. Pregnant woman fatally stabbed over this.
Speaker 9 (04:31):
They're the two latest victims of Facebook marketplace nightmares. Cops
say this pregnant woman was stabbed seventy times in a
dispute over the condition of a pickup truck she and
her husband had sold. Cops say after stabbing Eliza Morales
and her unborn child to death, the buyer set her
apartment a blaze.
Speaker 10 (04:50):
This was a horrific act of violence.
Speaker 9 (04:54):
Her mother in law spoke at a vigil outside Chicago.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
You get angry and then you get sad, and then
you get angry again. And it's such an older coaster.
Speaker 9 (05:02):
And in Columbia, Missouri, a decorated marine Ryan Burke, was
shot dead at his home during a Facebook marketplace deal
to sell his iPhone. With his last breaths, he texted
his mother and sister these haunting words, I'm dying and
I love you.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Pretty incredible dead.
Speaker 8 (05:19):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
He had the just that in that moment, the calmness
and discipline to says goodbyes.
Speaker 9 (05:26):
Three suspects have pleaded not guilty to murder. The marine
and the pregnant mom are just the latest victims of
violence in connection with a Facebook marketplace sale. Just two
months ago, a homeowner selling his laptop was bear sprayed
by two thugs who came to his house.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
My entire face was pulsating.
Speaker 9 (05:48):
Red and this seller jumped on the getaway car after
he says his role ax was stolen in a Facebook
marketplace deal gone bad.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Here's let I'm not sure that's the best place to
sell your roller to a guy you've never met on
Facebook marketplace.
Speaker 9 (06:04):
After he says his role ax was stolen in a
Facebook marketplace deal gone bad. Here's less trend.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
So how do you stay safe? Let me guess I
don't use Facebook marketplace as a start, or have the
transaction made at a police station. I bet he's going
to give some of these tips to you right now.
Speaker 9 (06:25):
Hundreds of police departments across the country have set up
safe exchange zones at precincts, right this one in Fanwood,
New Jersey.
Speaker 6 (06:32):
This is monitored by our surveillance cameras twenty four hours
a day, seven days a week, and it is recorded.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
It's a great idea. And if the person buying your
your rolex, or your laptop or your phone is not
willing to go to the police station to do it,
then you know you dodged a bullet.
Speaker 9 (06:49):
Another tip. Meet in a public place during the day.
Speaker 6 (06:52):
I would never go into someone's house, and likewise I
wouldn't want a stranger coming into my house to engage
in this type of transaction.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Facebook Marketplace does post tips, including a recommendation to meet
in public places.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yes, you got to be careful out there. There are
a lot of weirdos and a lot of criminals out there,
so you gotta be careful. Please, please, you owe it yourself.
Be careful. All right, let's go back to the Grammys
here where they really embarrassed share. They gave her some
kind of lifetime Achievement award and then she was just
(07:25):
caught like a deer in the headlights out there and
didn't know what to do next, because I've never seen
that before. Somebody gets a lifetime achievement award and then
they have to present a trophy to the next winner.
And so she finished, and she was walking away and
they summons her back on stage, and it was a weird,
odd moment for her and they shouldn't have done that
(07:45):
to her. Thank you.
Speaker 11 (07:46):
I guess I was.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
Supposed to walk off more.
Speaker 11 (07:49):
All right, I have to walk off.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
So she walks off stage. Everyone's applauding her, and then
the whole she's like, no, you got to come back.
You're not done by man before you go before you go, Share, Sure,
before you go? Could we get you to announce the nominees? Yeah.
I don't know how many times they rehearsed this, but
if they weren't getting it right and rehearsal, they should
(08:17):
have had somebody else come up and present the award.
Share seventy six. These are seventy six years in the
diamond lane. She lived life in the diamond lane, moved
very quickly, and so at seventy six, you know she's
not an accountant or somebody worked as a real estate
agent for fifty years. She had a lot of pressure
(08:38):
on her, and she had a brain feart and didn't
know where she was or what she was supposed to
do next.
Speaker 10 (08:45):
Share, throwing the twenty twenty six Grammys into a little
bit of chaos, attempting to leave the stage before announcing
the award she was meant to present.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Would you like to see something amazing that no one's seen?
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Welcome back, sure, everybody.
Speaker 10 (08:59):
In Shar's defense, the show seemed to surprise her with
a win of her own, a Lifetime Achievement Award, leading
to what appeared to be an impromptu acceptance speech.
Speaker 8 (09:08):
I'm going to have some words to say the thing
I want to tell you, the only thing I wanted
you to take away with you.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
And I've been in this business.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
No, she used the F word. I think she said
fiftyfing years six, Just sixty years. Wow, sixty fing years
is what she said.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
Okay, but I just want to tell you never give
up on your dream, no matter what happens.
Speaker 11 (09:39):
Now.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
I don't know if that's good advice. I don't know.
There's a lot of dreams that aren't going to come together.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Never give up on your dream, no matter what happens.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Really, that's the advice. So everyone is going to be
a rock star, everyone's going to get a Grammy, everyone's
going to have hit song. Really, never ever give up
on your.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Never give up on your dream, no matter what happens.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Very poor advice. Live it, be it, and if it's
not happening now, it will happen soon, or like millions,
it may catch fire and crumble and never come together.
That should be her advice.
Speaker 10 (10:20):
Then, once she got called back to the mic, she
announced a record of the year sort of, and the
Grammy goes.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
To and she didn't know what to do. She looked
at teleprompter. She's looking all over. She didn't know that
the name was on the card that she was holding.
Speaker 12 (10:40):
Oh, they told me it was going to be.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
On the prompter.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Oh, the gommy goes to Luther grand Rose.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
What Luther grand Dose.
Speaker 12 (10:53):
Oh the gmmy goes to Luther grand Rosse.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
All right, Oh it's not I didn't understand who were
they were giving it too. He's been dead for quite
some time. Go to Luther Grandrosse, Luther grand Rose, Luthor
van Drowsen. What a nightmare he should have done that?
They that was almost a deazel disease. Yeah, right, exactly. Oh,
(11:16):
that's horrible to do. To share And a lot of
people remember that. Now, you know, what do you remember
about share? A? She fed up on the Grammys?
Speaker 13 (11:23):
Christ you're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from
KFI AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Krozier and Alex Michaelsim and a lot of people have
made the comparison to share. I think even Andy Reesemart,
A lot of people made this comparison. John Travolta's biggest
oscar failed you guys, remember that the John Travolta at
the Oscars when he was introducing Adina Menzel. Perhaps a
(11:54):
refresher mind. Oh okay, here we go.
Speaker 14 (11:56):
There will always be a special place in my heart
for the movie music and for the songs that create
the most memorable moments. Here to perform the Oscar nominated,
gorgeously empowering song let It Go from the Oscar winning
animated movie Frozen. Please welcome the wickedly talented one and.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Only Adele does Who's that? That's a French for Dina Manzelle.
I think Adele disease.
Speaker 15 (12:25):
Kiddlely talented one and only Adele da zid, Adele dozi.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
I don't know what's what's worse, the Adele da Zi or.
Speaker 16 (12:36):
Oh them goes Deluther Grandrose, Oh, Deluther Grandrouse, Luther grand Rose.
Speaker 12 (12:45):
Luther Grandrose.
Speaker 17 (12:47):
We have been both of those instances, either of them,
Like halfway through saying the name, they realized, I know
I'm wrong, but I'm giving it.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Gusto. I don't know if shared knew it was wrong.
I think she just screwed up Luther Vandros Andros. I know,
but it was the song that that they wrote like
in tribute to him. But there wasn't there another one. Oh,
I know what it was. It was Joe Biden and
(13:18):
when it was ll cool J. And he even knew
that was wrong because at the end he goes, Ah, Christ,
you know they'll be playing that forever, Oh, l J
cool Jah.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
Two of the great artists of our time, representing the
groundbreaking legacy of hip hop in America, ll J cool J.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
And he's like, oh Christ, it'll be on Fox News
in five minutes and it'll be living forever America.
Speaker 14 (13:50):
Ll J cool J.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Christ. You can hear him, just go.
Speaker 17 (13:58):
He didn't give it to him because he did more
than they did to acknowledge this angling be right.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Yeah, he's he was thinking about John Travolta when he
said this, l J cool J. Christ. I don't know
if that was right or not. Get John back here,
the talented one. And only does he adel Christ del
(14:24):
doesy s or chare Oh.
Speaker 12 (14:31):
The comment goes to Luther Grendhouse, Luther Granda.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
Seventy six years She should have said, no, doesn't she
have anybody working for her? No, I'm not doing Yeah,
I'm not getting up there. I'm seventy six. I could
barely get out of bed. But she she does look
great for seventy six. I'll give her that, you know.
I don't know what. I don't know what's you know
what is uh, you know, original material there with his factory,
(15:07):
you know, installed or whatever. But she does look good.
Page on the way home Sheriff, I thought you did great. Yeah, no,
you did excellent.
Speaker 12 (15:22):
Raw goes to Luther Gred House.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
It doesn't. It didn't go to Luther. Grid went to
l J cool.
Speaker 6 (15:31):
J, representing the groundbreaking legacy of hip hop in America.
Speaker 16 (15:36):
L J cool J.
Speaker 15 (15:46):
A nuthouse with the One and only Adele does And
I think that the background stories that she and him
were friends or knew each other.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Him and Zell, Yeah, I think so. And I don't
know what. He maybe did it on purpose, you know,
just to be on the show for the rest of
his life. Maybe, I don't know. One and only. Which
do you think is the worst one, the Adele Diz
or this one in America l J cool J or
(16:22):
our Girls Share goes to the Grand House. My favorite
is the Biden one because of his own reaction. Yeah.
The biggest screw up to me is the Travolta one. Yeah,
Biden owned it right away. Yeah. A christ Well n
on Conway Show, I'll bet and Fox.
Speaker 16 (16:43):
Ll J cool j.
Speaker 9 (16:47):
Damn.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
It couldn't get that right. Where's thel Dell? Where's the
Dell disease guy?
Speaker 13 (16:53):
And only.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Dell does share? Did you like that one? Imagine going
to like out back with Share. Hey, it's your time
to order blue onions. Oh yeahs you want well done
your steak. That happened to h that I'm gonna get
(17:22):
in trouble for this. But we went for my daughter's graduation.
We went to outback steakhouse. I made a couple of bucks,
you know, occasionally can treat the family. And I was
there with my mother in law, my wife's mom for
people that haven't been able to figure that out, and
it was her turn to order. But she was looking
(17:43):
at the menu and I said, I said, hey, sher,
it's your turn to order. And she turns around, she
sees the waiter and she goes like a like a
big like a lucile ball scream like ah. It almost
sounded like like a Share like, Hey, Share, it's your
turn to order. And we sort of do that now
(18:04):
every time we every say, every time we go to
a restaurant, it's your turn to order. Okay, all right,
So here they've ranked him now at CNN. This is
number one the gods all right, yeah, then number two
one and only does he and coming in third place
(18:26):
is your boy Joe Biden.
Speaker 16 (18:28):
Oh well, Jay cool j.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
All right, we're live with the three greatest pieces of
audio of the year so far. It's early.
Speaker 11 (18:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (18:43):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from kf
I am sixty.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
The Conway Show, and every Monday at six thirty five,
six thirty six, six thirty seven, we do local real
Estate Gone Mad segment. We do here local real Estate,
and it's Brett Fuller is with us today from a
Burbank Brett Fuller. How are you, sir?
Speaker 16 (19:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (19:12):
My name's last name's Furry. Sorry?
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Oh what he you spell it? F you are?
Speaker 14 (19:17):
Are you a?
Speaker 11 (19:18):
No worries?
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Okay, belly here? Did you get that? I think she
just sweit to go fix it? You get that? That's
all right here As.
Speaker 11 (19:29):
Long as you call me, right, that's all you care about?
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Okay? Alright? No, no worries? Yeah, okay, all right, So
I'm gonna put you on hold and reintroduce.
Speaker 11 (19:36):
You then, no that you don't need to do that.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
I'm okay, Oh buddy, we got to do that for
the podcast. Okay, okay, all right, music and then we'll
we'll restart here. Sorry, gang, that's my fault. Hey, it's
kind of a show live on k IF. I am
six forty. Every single Monday, we do real Estate Gone Mad,
(19:59):
and our very first guest today is guy named Brett Fury.
Uh furry, damn it. I hit the music, Take three, damnit,
laying on the cold hot. Hey, it's conwyche. Okay if
(20:21):
I am six forty every single Monday, if you're familiar
with the show. At six thirty five, we do real
Estate Gone Crazy, and our first guest today Brett Fury furry.
Speaker 11 (20:32):
F Hey, how's it going?
Speaker 14 (20:36):
All right?
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Good? Hi you Bob. I'm doing well, man, I'm it's
my fault. All right. You've got this beautiful house in
Burbank that has a gene Autrey connection. Is that correct?
Speaker 16 (20:48):
It does?
Speaker 14 (20:49):
It does?
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (20:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (20:50):
Rich the people that bought it in nineteen thirty nine,
he was a character actor and a print model named
Robert Strong and his wife Dorothy, and they bought it
before they had their family. And he was very prolific
through the years, more like background d type movies, and
he became friends with gene Autry, and gen Audrey gave
(21:13):
them a sapling tree when they moved into the house.
And that sapling tree is now a spectacular elm in
front of the house, and everybody in the neighborhood knows
it as the gene Autry tree.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
That is a great piece of history. So gene Audrey
gave that person that tree that we see when we
look at that house.
Speaker 9 (21:32):
Correct, that's a huge deal.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
I think that's a great you know, I like the
history of stuff like that. It's going to mean something
more important when somebody, some family moves into that home.
Speaker 11 (21:43):
That's right, and they will be the second family to
own it. Oh, my daughter inherited the house. So from
nineteen thirty nine to twenty twenty five it was in
the Strong family.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
Wow, you know, I always wonder about that. I was
just talking to a buddy of mine the other day
and he had sold the house and he left a
note for the new homeowners saying, you know, congratulations, hope
you have a you know, lifelong of memories here in
this house. And because he also got a note from
the previous owner and these these homes, like we live
(22:14):
in a house in Burbank that was built in nineteen
thirty eight, nineteen thirty nine, and there may have been
seven or eight families that have lived there, but very
rarely do you have one family that has lived there
the whole time, I know.
Speaker 11 (22:26):
And what's more amazing is that you think about it.
He wasn't like a big, big name. I mean, he
was like a journeyman, you know. And how many today
you couldn't go do that. You couldn't do what he did.
Maybe be a background actor or print model and go
buy a brand new house. No way Burbank and raise
a family.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
The guy'd be living in his cars somewhere. That's right, Yeah, right,
So give us the address where people can look at this.
Speaker 11 (22:51):
It's nineteen twenty Screenland and that's sc r E E
N L A N D.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
All right, screen Lamb. That's in Burbank. That looks like
it's Is that up near the Burbank Airport?
Speaker 11 (23:03):
It is near the airport, Yeah, that's But that's.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Not a doubter. I mean, you know they have extra
they have like triple paane windows that Burbank Airport paid
for for a lot of those homes.
Speaker 11 (23:15):
Everybody in the neighborhood loves it. The lady that's executed
of the estate. She grew up on the street and
she left and then moved back, and you know, so
there's a lot of continuity still in the neighborhood. So
it's it's really a you know, just a sweet little
pocket right there.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
That really is cool. I like that there's still history
like that, And I hope that tree survives, you know,
another one hundred years. It easily could. But just but
just have a tree in the neighborhood or a tree
in your yard that was given to them by gene Autry.
Is is beautiful history.
Speaker 11 (23:52):
It is, you know, and everything seems to disappear in
southern California, so that it survived is amazing.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
That's right. What do you see there in Burbank. I
always tell people, if you live in Burbank, don't sell
your home because this is going to be like the
Beverly Hills of the valley eventually, and the place to
live in the San Fernando Valley.
Speaker 11 (24:11):
People love Burbank. They love the small town field. They
love it that you can go to the tally Rand's right,
you know, all the different places, excellent schools, not a
good police department like you always talk about Oh yeah,
you know, so you're right. I mean, it's just it's
really come into It's always been great, but I think
it's come into its own as opposed to us. My
(24:31):
dad always said, Johnny Carson used to do jokes about it,
but now it's you know, people are like, no, I
love I love Burbank. I want to You're right.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
When I was growing up, Brett I, you know, Johnny
Carson used to make fun of Burbank every single night.
And then it became, you know, like, as you said,
a really cool place to live. And I think it
was all turned around by two things. One is the
renovation downtown Burbank that you know, they put in that
(24:59):
mall and just you know, beautified the whole place. And
then I think another major turnaround for Burbank is going
to be this spectacular airport that opens up in a
couple of months. I think you're right place to hang.
And what do you see? Where are interest rates? Because
you're in the real estate game, what what are people
looking at?
Speaker 11 (25:17):
Well, they say we're going to come down right now.
We're still still getting a lot of activity, but you know,
I think we're uncertainty for a couple of months, well
things sort of you know, with the new fed share
coming in, you know that's going to.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Be what's the current rate right now? What's the best
rate you can get?
Speaker 11 (25:35):
You know, it all depends on that, you know, what
you're looking at, whether you're looking at you know five,
you know with amortized or whatever it can be. You know,
high five to six is depending on your credit score.
I mean, there's just so many factors in you know that.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
I think it's one of the reasons why people are
not selling because they have a three and a half
you know point, you know, three and a half points
mortgage and they don't want to sell, right.
Speaker 11 (25:59):
Or you have a lot of people that say, you know,
people that are empty nesters and are like, I don't
want to move, and I don't there's nowhere for me
to go that I'm going to like more than my house.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
That's right, That's exactly right, all right. Nineteen twenty one
nine two zero screenland and it's got the house. The
tree in front of it was given to these people
by Jane Audrey, So go check it out. Really saw the.
Speaker 11 (26:19):
House too, and I'm sorry Elvis came to the house
too to visit him oh, I didn't know that.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, wait, Elvis was at the house, and we're talking
about this guy's tree.
Speaker 11 (26:28):
Elvis came to the house. You know that's going to
add one hundred thousands exactly.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Wow, is that right? Man oh man? What year did
Elvis go there?
Speaker 11 (26:37):
We're not sure. The neighbor down the street said Janet,
the daughter that just passed away, said that he came
probably I think in the sixties.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
And then.
Speaker 11 (26:45):
And then Robert Strong, the patriarch that bought the house originally,
he also ran for mayor Burbank. I guess in the seventies. Unfortunately,
I haven't been able to get as many details on that,
but he was quite the character.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
Yeah, I would lead with el Elvis was there, and
then maybe mentioned the tree. All right, Brett, thanks for
coming on. Brett Fury, thank you so much. All right,
thanks Bat all right, take care of yourself. Man oh Man.
The gene Autry tree is interesting. But Elvis was in
that house. Elvis Presley was in that house. You could
buy it. I think it's just over a million dollars.
(27:21):
That's unbelievable. One family has been in that house since
nineteen thirty nine. One family and the next family that
moves in will probably be there for the hundredth anniversary
of that house. That is great, all right, that's a
cool guest. Bellio. I know you didn't think so, but
I thought he was cool.
Speaker 13 (27:40):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
My favorite thing to do in the world is to
go to a buffet and they all close down during COVID,
all of them. They just shut him down, even the
ones in Vegas, the ones where you go to breakfast
buffet and load up on bacon. Uh, maybe take twenty
strips of bacon and down all that and then go
to the pool and sit there for five hours. That's
(28:10):
a lot of fun. But they're making a comeback the buffet.
It's back, baby, it is back.
Speaker 16 (28:17):
Buffee bars have offered a family feast for generations.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
That old country buffet.
Speaker 16 (28:22):
Kids always get what they want because they get it themselves.
From Vegas high rollers.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
At EXCaliber setting these stand out of excellence in buffy
dining to hungry budget.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Cons they're talking about the ex Caliber is setting the
standard for buffet excellence.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
At EXCaliber setting these stand out of excellence in buffy dining.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
Mmm, I'd like, I'm gonna stay on high alert.
Speaker 16 (28:46):
On that one to hungry, budget conscious diners all across
the country.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Sizzler for the nineties, exactly what America wants. The Sizzler's great.
There's one on Los Feela's right off the five Freeway.
That's a beautiful sizzler.
Speaker 14 (29:02):
Man.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
And oh the Malibu Chicken of tiny steaks. Oh the bread,
the garlic bread. I'm gonna go there tonight. I'm gonna
go eat their tonight.
Speaker 16 (29:10):
And now, after a pandemic decline and a change in appetite,
Americans are once again rushing back to the buffet.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
Their back, baby, We're back into the buffets.
Speaker 16 (29:20):
Now a seven hundred billion dollar industry.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
How can you not find anything you like? With one
hundred and fifty choice in.
Speaker 16 (29:26):
According to a twenty twenty six survey from yelp, searches
for all you can eat buffet near me jumped over
two hundred twenty five.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
That's great. There's a great one at Marongo. It's called
the Marketplace, and every meal in the buffet is cooked
to order. You got Italian American? I think there's an
Asian vibe in there, or a Mexican and it's all
cooked to order, so there's not food just sitting there
for hour after hour. When you order it, it's cooked
(29:55):
for you and you take it back to your your table,
and it's in all you can eat joint marketplace.
Speaker 16 (30:00):
Bringing big business back to buffet chains like Golden Corral,
which saw fifteen percent same store sales growth in the
last sixteen months. There's the nostalgia factor.
Speaker 11 (30:14):
Well then you sho gold in Corral.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Golden Corral is the best.
Speaker 16 (30:19):
But there's also the bang for the buck, the.
Speaker 9 (30:22):
One variety of food.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
It's non expensive. The only problem with the buffet is
you always feel like you have to eat until you're
almost dead. You've got to get every dime worth of
your you know, thirty eight dollars, and so you eat
and eat and eat, and you cannot move at the end.
Speaker 16 (30:42):
According to Data Essential, a typical buffemial costs between fourteen
and thirty five dollars.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Fourteen like to find that place.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Consumers really like getting a good deal for their money.
Speaker 16 (30:54):
That's right, it's not just those traditional buffet bars and
heat lamps getting a boost. Yelp also found searches for
all you can eat Korean barbecue and hot pot are
surging in eye popping five hundred and ninety one percent,
pointing diners to places like fast growing chain Kpot All
you can eat restaurants also taking on a DIY component
where the food keeps come in as long as you're
(31:15):
still willing to keep grilling. Where else could you get
French fries next to mushroom exactly? Yea, from hot plate
to grill top to familiar buffet staples. Consumers say the
flexibility and value can't be.
Speaker 10 (31:28):
Beat if you're going out to eat fewer times a week, right,
when you go out, you want to make it count.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
That's right, that's right.
Speaker 16 (31:35):
The buffets are back value and volume a recipe that
nearly everyone can't agree on.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
Stepho, you strike me as a buffet guy, am ATM?
I reading you correctly? What's that? Are you a buffet guy?
Speaker 14 (31:48):
You know it?
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Yeah? I think I nailed that one. Huh where's your favorite? Well,
you said, I mean giving your top thirty. Well, they
don't have any here anymore, but Vegas is always.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
The go to.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
That's when you were talking about throwing down the pounds
of bacon. I'm like, yep, absolutely. I asked about eight
years ago before COVID. I asked steph Uish. I go, I, hey,
and you play any slot machines in Vegas? He goes
slot machines. I thought there was just buffet. He didn't
see any slot machines. All he saw was a buffets.
But you would hit two or three a day in Vegas.
Oh yeah, for sure. Wow, my kind of guy's the
(32:23):
MGM's the spot and Flamingo's got a solid one too. Yes. Yeah,
But now the Aria I keep hearing from what he
aria is the one that you got to check out. Yeah,
we gotta go one time. You'll just get in the
car and just eat until we can't move There you go, well,
get some of that go fund me money. We'll move
that around a little bit. There we go. Okay, all right,
who's coming up next? And Andy Reesmier? All right, I
(32:45):
like that dude. He's coming up next with Ronner Ronder.
Do you do a movie reviewer? Did you do one
last week? I did not know. I guess we still
have to get something going, don't we Yes, But he's
the best movie reviewer in the world, and I can't
get this guy to folks on these reviews. Bless you, Timmy.
We'll get something started here. I'm finishing up a project. Okay, yeah,
(33:06):

the Millennia movie. Okay, alright, alright, Andy rees myre next
