(00:00):
It's KFI Am six and you're listeningto the Conway Show on demand on the
iHeartRadio app. The Venice Canal guyhas been arrested. Everybody, this is
great news. Two women last weekor actually this week, walking around Venice,
the canals maybe you know the canalsarea, and they got worked by
(00:25):
this guy. They got beaten toan inch of their life. I just
saw one being interviewed on I BelieveChannel five, and man, your heart
breaks for this woman. She hadjust about as much as she could take.
She doesn't look anything like the pictureof her. Yeah, bruises and
(00:46):
cuts all over her face. Shecould barely speak, her jaws broken,
and she quite nearly was beaten todeath right in front of her home,
right in Venice Beach by homeless. And this is getting rough out there.
Gang. It's not good. Youknow, when they say crime is down.
(01:07):
Is anybody listening to KFI believe that? I don't. I don't at
all. I brought the trash cansin last night. Thursday is our trash
day for you people out there thatwere wondering. Thursday morning they pick up
the trash cans. I brought himin Thursday night, last night around ten
o'clock and I'm looking around. Igot my head on a swivel. I'm
(01:30):
looking around to see who's gonna wipeme out, wipe me out if there's
any rumbling in the bushes or whatever. I bring a flashlight with me,
like one of those guys, andI look around to see who's gonna wipe
me out. And I live ina fairly safe community of Burbank, California
and Venice Beach in the Canals area, very very safe. And now people
(01:52):
are rattled, rattled down there, and the attacks phil Open Colling happened late
Saturday night and days later. Earliertoday, the LAPD announced that they made
an arrest. Detectives found their suspectin San Diego, and late last night
they brought them back to La It'sa great thing that the arrest was made.
(02:13):
She didn't want to give us hername, but she and the others
we spoke to who live around heretell us they're relieved. And arrest has
been made in connection to the twowomen who were viciously attacked late Saturday night
in the Venice Canal area. Inresponse to those attacks, which did have
a sexual element to them as well, we flooded the area with extra uniform
patrols. Yes, you hear that, LAPD at its finest, we flooded
(02:38):
the area with extra uniform patrols andother assets to continue to protect the Venice
community the best that we could. We also began the source. Yes you
can hear it. The locals thereInventors broke out in applauds. This is
the locals getting together when they heardLAPD made the arrest. Wow, there's
(03:02):
three hundred people out there, wenton and on, how about that LAPD
arresting this young man. Now he'sin for a long, long life man.
We also began the search for thesuspect who had committed these crimes.
(03:24):
The news conference earlier this afternoon, the LAPD announced they've arristed a twenty nine
year old man down in San Diego. Detectives working with the residents and other
area resources tell us they were ableto determine that Anthony Jones was their suspect.
That news has brought us since ofrelief to this La neighborhood. People
(03:45):
will be more a lot more vigilant, and you shouldn't have to be that
way though, shouldn't have to bemore vigilant. You shouldn't have to be
more aware. You should be ableto you know, when you own a
home in that area, in thecanals area of Venice Beach or Venice,
California, you should be able towalk around with your kids, your wife,
your husband, your dog and nothave to be spooked every time you
(04:08):
know, you walk past somebody.I think people have had it with crime.
People will be more a lot morevigilant. And yeah, it has
changed everything. Yeah, I meanthat's the understatement of the century. It
has changed everything. It has changedeverything. For those two women. They
will never be the same never,They will never trust, they will never
(04:30):
feel safe. This happened right infront of their home. They will never
feel the same again because of thisman. City council person Tracy Park represents
Venice. She didn't pull any punchestoday when she talked about keeping La safe.
People in the city of Los Angelesare sick and tired of feeling unsafe.
(04:51):
Okay, but wait a minute, but the FBI and everybody says crime
is down, which is it iscrime up and people are unsafe and feel
unsafe. For his crime down,I don't know, they say crimes down.
People in the city of Los Angelesare sick and tired of feeling unsafe.
No woman, no visitor, nofamily should be unsafe walking in any
(05:16):
neighborhood. That's right. I'm withthis. Tracy Park is that her name,
Tracy Park in the city of LosAngeles, much less our city's number
one tourist destination. Anthony Jones remainshis custody, his bay husband said at
three and a half million dollars. The LAPD will now turn their case over
(05:36):
to the Ali County District Attorney's officewere considering the charges Anthony Jones will be
facing Okay, Anthony Jones, buddy, you screwed up. Okay, because
you committed this crime during an electionyear. And George Gascon is under a
(05:57):
lot of pressure to turn around thepublic image of the DA's office, and
he's going to do it by makingexamples of anybody now until November. If
you get arrested for a violent crime, if you get arrested being violent towards
anybody between now and November, you'regoing to have the book thrown at you.
So if you're a violent criminal outthere, you gotta lay low for
(06:20):
the next I don't know six months. May June, July, August,
September, October. Yeah, aboutsix and a half months. So you
got to take your crime mentality, stick it in the closet for at least
six months, and if you don't, you're going to jail probably for rest
(06:40):
of your life. So violent criminals, time to take a powder for the
next six months. It's not theright time to commit crime in Los Angeles
or in southern California, especially theLa County, La County. Not good,
not good. George gascon knows he'sunder pressure. He wants to keep
his job, and he is goingto come after you, the career criminals
(07:02):
or the vicious chemic criminals who areattacking people, and he's gonna throw the
book at you. I don't knowif he wants to or not, and
I don't really care. He's goingto, So stop. Stop. You're
listening to Tim Conway Junior on demandfrom kf I AM six forty. Coachella
(07:24):
is going on. That's a bigdeal. Maybe you're heading out there right
now, very jealous. You're gonnaspend spend a huge weekend out there Coachella.
Oh, it's gonna be sweet,it's gonna be great. When Stefani
will be there with no doubt, big reunion. So be a great weekend
to get out there. And theweather, oh, perfect, nice and
(07:45):
cool. It's not gonna be ninehundred degrees out there. Sometimes it is
this weekend, it's not, soyou can enjoy yourself. It's gonna rain
tomorrow and Sunday in southern california's gonnabe cold. You know, just say,
yesterday was eighty eight degrees out andthen woke up this morning's fifty five.
Fifty five degrees in the San FernandoValley is Chili. Then put the
(08:05):
heater on two days ago, Iput the air conditioning on. I put
the heater on. I don't knowwhat to do. I don't know what
to do. All right. Wehave a guy who wants to do traffic
here at KFI, and I forgothis name, but Bellio whispered in my
(08:28):
ear, what's the guy's name?Did send us the traffic report? Oh?
I can't say that name on theair. That's not the right name.
What's his name? Okay? Allright, here it is. It's
a guy. If you're familiar withthe show at six point twenty two,
(08:48):
every Friday, we have audition tapesfor people that want to be on KFI.
In this case, it's this youngkid who wants to do traffic and
he sent us an audition reel.Last week we played it and Angel gave
him some tips on what to do, and then he corrected it. And
(09:11):
now this is the second shot atit. So Angel, you with us,
is Angel with us? I yeah, and I'm listening right all right,
Here we go, Here we go. Ding Dong in Eagle Rock would
pleased to report that the salt bigrig has been cleared on the one thirty
four eastbound before Colorado Boulevard and Figurero A Street. We got some stop
(09:31):
traffic from Harvey Drive, currently estimatedat about nine minutes. Meanwhile, in
Alta Loma, a work zone isan effect with the right lane closed until
four pm on the two to teneastbound between Carnelian Street and Archibald Avenue.
Minor stopp and go traffic starting fromCampus AB And in Carson, the crash
has been cleared on the four orfive northbound before Main Street at the northbound
off ramp southbound on ramp Wow.A lot of information right there. And
(09:56):
in Carson, the crash has beencleared on the fourtal five northbound before Me
Street at the northbound off ramps southboundon ramp, but traffic is stopped from
Alameda Street, leading to delays offorty seven minutes. Additionally, on the
four or five south, traffic isslow from the one ten due to a
hit and run incident reported earlier today. Stay tuned for more updates and drive
safely out there. This report issponsored by your Amazon Fresh store. At
(10:22):
your Amazon Fresh store, you canrely on roasted chicken for four ninety seven
pound, bunches of bananas for ninetynine cents, French bread for eighty nine
cents, and more. Visit yourlocal Amazon Fresh store for low prices.
From A to Z, I thinkthis guy works for Amazon. I suddenly
want to go get chicken. Idon't know. I think he just wants
to come on the air, andthen you know he's making money at Amazon.
(10:43):
This isn't care traffic. Wasn't hislast report an Amazon? The response
also, that's right, he's anAmazon guy. I think it's Jeff Bezos's
kid and headty Amazon dot Com.Slash save with Fresh to see this week's
deals. KFI and the Sky helpsget you there. Faster on Colton de
Birg Colton de Bergh, alright, alright, Angel, what do you think?
(11:05):
I think it sounds better. WHOA, that's great. Maybe we'll have
Colton de Berg come in one dayand on Colton de do traffic and his
Amazon heads. Right yeah, maybeshe'd just do Amazon ads. You know,
right off the four or five, there's another Amazon store there. You
can get bananas and chicken out agood price. If you're Rodondo Beach off
(11:28):
the one time, Wow, you'regonna get yourself some savings on sunflower seeds
right more with Colton de Berg andAmazon Fresh. Just don't tell Bellio about
the chickens there, because that's rightBellio. If you don't know that story,
you know Bellio has no shame, which is one of the reasons I
(11:48):
think we'd like her. But shewas having a party at her house and
I'm not sure what it was fora Michigan football game or I don't know.
Maybe they're people going to combuy fora Super Bowl party that we weren't
in if I did two something likethat. So she went to Costco and
she bought for her whole crew. She's gonna have, you know, fifty
sixty, seventy people over. Shebought twenty chickens, and I told and
(12:15):
I said, and she goes, tim She goes, I bought eight.
And I said, I know, but I just made up the numbers,
so you'd tell us honestly how manyyou bought. She bought eight chickens,
eight roasted chickens. You know whatthe max is when you walk into Costco
with the chickens one, oh mygosh, one, you put two in
your cart and people should have theright to pull one out and put it
(12:41):
back on the shelf. She hadeight chickens in her cart, eight and
I said, I said, weren'tyou embarrassed. She goes, no,
I threw a doormat over him sopeople couldn't see them. Like, okay,
then you were embarrassed. You threwit. You had to buy an
eighteen dollars doormat to throw over yourchickens. And she's, yeah, we've
got a lot of doormants. Soeight chickens, that's a lot at Costco,
(13:05):
it's too many. The rule ofthumb, if you're going to Costco
right now, ah, chicken one. They don't make a lot of money
on the chickens. It's a lostleader. They just they make them because
people love them. Angel. Haveyou ever had one of those chickens there?
Yes, they are so good. It's like it's the equivalent of I
(13:26):
think cocaine for cocaine lovers. It'sunbelievable. They're delicious. I don't know
how good they are for you.I don't know what chemicals are in there.
I don't know. I don't care. But when you bring them home,
it's really hard to get them allthe way home in the car because
you can smell them on the wayhome. Oh, those roasted chickens.
(13:46):
I might go get one tonight unlessBellio slides in there and wipes them out.
Yeah, they're gone. Yeah, eight eight chickens in her cart.
I mean, just it's an youknow, it's almost worth calling George Gascon
and saying, what are you goingto do about this? Yeah? You
know, I mean I understand there'syou know, you got a lot on
(14:07):
your plate, a lot of peoplepissed about crime. But on a secondary
level, you know, there's awoman who's starting a lot of crap with
eight chickens in her cart. I'dlike to know. I'd like to know
what, George, I'm going tocall the DA's office on Monday. It's
too late tonight. I'm gonna callthe DA's office on Monday and see what
they're going to do, if anything, about people who like Bellio who buy
(14:28):
eight chickens. You know what, though, I do like her move of
putting the doormat over them because itkind of insulates them as well, right,
But it's an indication of shame.Yeah, doesn't want anyone to see
that she's taking too many chickens. That's right. I do the doormat when
I buy a lot of Vodkas.Sometimes I'll buy, like, you know,
(14:50):
ten or twelve big titos, andI'll throw the doormat over that,
you know, so people don't seethat I'm out of control alcoholic. But
she doesn't. She doesn't. It'sjust no shame. I'm sure wipe out
those chickens. But you guys bothhave a lot of doormats, but for
different reasons. I have, literallyI have like thirty doormats at the house.
(15:13):
Everywhere. I have a doormat pathfrom our garage to my car and
are they're all because of my teto'spurchases. So I'm not long for this
world. You're listening to Tim ConwayJunior on demand from KFI A six forty.
It is Friday. Tomorrow is goingto be raining and cold and wet
(15:37):
and miserable, and we're going totell you exactly when it's going to come
in and all the things that goalong with it. But it's not going
to be good. You know,we're not going to have eighty degrees.
We can go out and do yardwork and get your spring cleaning going.
Not yet, not yet. Here'sa look at the area of low pressure.
The front started to move towards northernCalifornia this evening, and as we
(16:00):
make our way through the night tonight, well, the winter weather advisory begins
from Mammoth all the way south. As we head along three ninety five and
eventually into Lake Isabella to hatch Abecommunities, they too, we'll see a
winter weather advisory through tomorrow night, and that includes the I five corridors we
head out towards the inland sections ofVenture and Santa Barbara County. There's a
possibility by late tomorrow night we couldsee that snow level down to four thousand
(16:22):
feet and a couple of inches Imean, this sounds like a weather report
we would have in January or February. This is mid April, you know,
Monday is April fifteenth, Tax Dayby the way, kids, April
fifteenth, and you know we're momentsaway from spring, and yet it's going
to be four thousand feet is asnow level and cold as hell, raining
(16:47):
and snowing this weekend. There's apossibility by late tomorrow night we could see
that snow level down to four thousandfeet and a couple of inches four thousand
feet is visible from the two tenfreeway on almost any of those mountains can
be cold of snow could be onthe horizon for the weekend. Here's a
look at the storm tracker, andyou could see again we'll look forward to
(17:07):
dry conditions through the rest of theday today. Here's the three o'clock hour
for Saturday morning, and as thesun rises, yeah, a little bit
of some scattered showers. Not forthe inland empire. If you're an Antelope
Valley resident, you won't see yourshot either until we get well into the
afternoon hours between about three four pm, and then as we head through the
five, six, seven, eighto'clock hours, we'll start to see a
chance for some light measurable rainfall. We'll hit the brakes from late Saturday night
(17:33):
into Sunday and Sunday morning rather, and then by Sunday afternoon some showery conditions
start to make their move through muchof southern California. Yeah, cold,
raining, wet, windy, snowinglate Sunday night early Monday morning. Well
there you go. We start todry out, and next week, well
no rain in the forecast. Okay, I hate to say it, but
(17:55):
once we get through this rain, maybe things will be cool again. Every
time I say that in port stampsthe price of stamps for you dinosaurs out
there like me that still use stamps? Uh stephanush, when's the last time
you used the stamp from the UnitedStates Postal Service? How long ago?
M Probably about three and a halfweeks ago. Oh really, Oh you're
(18:17):
a recent cat. Yeah, alittle bit. Would you pay bills?
Oh god, I'm trying to rememberwhat it was I think I got to
send. Uh yeah, it mighthave been a bill. Yeah, oh
no, for the DMV that's whatit was. Okay, yeah, registration,
yep, registration. I had thewhole deal with getting rid of that
car was such a just a painbeing one of the things that they kept
(18:38):
sending it back saying I did itwrong. Stamps. Are you getting rid
of the car that doesn't work?Yeah? What are you selling it?
I was what's that? Are youselling it? Oh it's already gone.
Oh it is. Yeah. Iactually used cars for kids. Oh you
did. Yeah. Wow, that'skind of cool. I mean it's super
easy. It's not commercial, butthey did make it super easy. You
get a voucher for a trip orI got it in my email, So
(19:00):
now it's going to figure out howto use it. That's great, buddy.
Good for you. You're using anadvertiser here ONFI. Oh that's great
man. Oh that's excellent. Avery charitable man. Yeah exactly. I
like that. That's what you shouldsay on your shirt. Very charitable man.
Guards for kids, all right, lunchables? Oh no, let's do
the stamps. Stamps are going up. Price of stamps going up. Stamp
(19:21):
prices could soon be going up again. The US Postal Service filed a notice
with regulators to increase prices on firstclass forever stamps five cents. Oh no.
If approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission. The change would take effect in
July, raising the cost nearly eightpercent. Stamp prices alone have soored thirty
six percent since twenty nineteen. ThePostal Service last raised first class stamp prices
(19:45):
by two cents in January. Okay, if they're going to go up by
five cents, maybe it's time tobuy some, you know, because you
can always if you bought a milliondollars worth of stamps. Let's say you
got that kind of dough million dollarsworth of stamps. I don't know what
the stamp price is. Now,what is the stamp price? Anybody?
Now, let's all try to lookit up and see who the first one
(20:07):
is? US stamp price? Itis seventy three cents. I did before
you guess? Wow, all right, seventy three cents for a stamp.
God almighty, that's a fortune.I never would have guessed that high.
I would have said fifty one.Yeah, I was thinking fifty six or
something. I never, in mywildest dreams thought it was that high.
(20:33):
See, that's the part that confusedme. So if I would have bought
a roll of stamps like a yearago, would that still count? Yes,
you get to use them, andit even though it's gone up.
That's right, because they're the foreverstamps. Yeah, if you bought them
ten years ago, you know, for thirty one cents, they still count.
But you could sell them. Yeah, you know, that's what we
got to do. We gotta makemoney off it. That exists on eBay.
(20:56):
I'm sure it does. Yeah,I'm positive it does. But yeah,
it's says here. The cost ofa forever stamp is poised to go
up in July under the US PostalService plan to boost the price of the
first class stamp. Oh, I'msorry. It's going to go up to
seventy three cents from the current sixtyeight cents. Okay, so it's sixty
eight cents now, and it's goingto go up to seventy three cents per
(21:18):
stamp. Still higher than I wouldhave guessed, you know what. Okay,
I'm I'm with you that it's muchhigher than I would have guessed.
I would have said forty eight That'swhat I would have said, forty eight
cents. However, still a sweetdeal. You know, if you can
send a letter to somebody and youknow, they pick it up from your
(21:40):
house and they transport it, probablyyou know by airplane. If it's going
to go air mail and it's goingto be sent all the way to New
York and it's going to find itsway to the exact address you wanted to
go to. For seventy three cents, how do you do it cheaper that?
You can't. You can't do itcheaper in that, But the post
office is gonna they're gonna try to. They're gonna jack it up to seventy
(22:03):
three cents. So buy your stampsbefore July. If you're a big stamp
freak like I am, where everythinggets you know, thrown through the mail
because I live in nineteen, youknow, sixty eight, then you gotta
buy stamps before July. Before July, they're gonna go up to seventy three
cents a stamp. That's wild.It doesn't seem like a lot, but
(22:27):
it seems like a lot. Seventythree cents seems enormous, even though it's
a sweet deal. Still buying beforeJuly. You're listening to Tim Conway Junior
on de MAYL from KFI AM sixforty. Everyone's buzzing out to Coachella and
you're gonna enjoy your weekend. Butif you miss Coachella and you want to

It should be a lot of fun, all right. Caitlin Clark,
the best most recognized women's basketball playermaybe of all time in the United States.
(23:41):
They're going to retire her jersey. She plays for Iowa or Iowa State,
I think Iowa State, and they'regoing to retire her jersey. They
had over at at the peak theyhad twenty four million people watch that final
game. Unbelievable, South Carolina againstIowa. Twenty four million people at the
(24:02):
peak of that game watching and asone of them, I enjoyed it.
South Carolina one. Caitlin Clark leavingIowa the Hawkeyes going on to play in
the WNBA. I think she's goingto play for the Indiana Indiana Fever is
their name. But let's find outmore here with this. Caitlin Clark college
basketball phenom Caitlin Clark said goodbye toIowa Hawkeyes fans yesterday during a special ceremony
(24:26):
at Carver Hawkeye Arena. And yes, Clark did get a standing ovation when
Iowa's athletics director announced that the universitywill retire her number twenty teachers. So
it's a lot of way far beyondmy name, and I guess I'm just
really grateful and it'll be a specialday when that happens, for sure.
Thank you. It's been very specialand this place will always be home to
(24:48):
me. Clark's historic four year collegiatecareer came to an end last weekend Iowa
came up short to South Carolina inthe National Championship Game. She is widely
expected to be the number one pickin w NBA draft and has done so
much for the sport. No question. They didn't waste any time returning their
jersey. Smart yeah, very smartmove, very smart. All right.
(25:11):
You know that chapel out there, that's been moving the Wayfarers Chapel. They're
going to dismantle it. A lotof people listening right now. They got
married out there, or somebody inyour family got married out there, and
now they're going to tear it apartand save parts of it for the new
chapel. Here's the deal. Acouple of months ago, the lands started
shifting around here and it caused somesevere damage to the chapel's property. Yeah,
(25:33):
this is how to Pacific Peninsula.Out there where marine land used to
be for you old timers, justwest of sam Pedro, south of Redondo,
for you geography nuts. The parkinglot you could see just it's about
a three foot crack. Here, here's the plan. The chapel folks aren't
hoping that they'll be able to rebuildafter they dismantled the chapel. The damage
(25:57):
to the Iconic wave Farer's Chapel isextensive. The plan now is to take
it apart or deconstruct it and storewhat can be salvaged. The chapel's board
of directors is looking at around adozen spots to rebuild. We're trying to
figure out a way to acquire propertythat is stable in the area that has
(26:18):
a similar view that we have heresince the ocean view and the surroundings are
a big part of what has madethis jewel on the Peninsula what it is.
Yeah, that's a big deal outthere. I used to drive limousine
back in nineteen eighty four, eightyfive, and if I knew I was
going, if I was going todrive anybody to a wedding out at Pacific
(26:42):
Peninsula, I knew I was goingto that chapel. I must have driven
twenty couples and twenty families out tothat chapel. Is absolutely beautiful. Moe
Kelly's with us. I'm sure you'vebeen out there and know of that chapel
out there. The way for thechapel. It is beautiful, it is,
It's gorgeous. I'm believaless. Isthat where you got married? No,
I got married at the Sorito's PerformingArts Center? Is that right?
(27:03):
Wow? Look at you. That'sa big deal. The Sorito's Performing Arts
Center was a sellout. Was therelike five thousand people? You were invited?
You should have been there, butyou were out of town. When
did you get married? How longago? July sixteenth of twenty sixteen.
Okay, my twentieth anniversary is nextmonth. How about that? Is that
(27:25):
wild? Twenty years? Does itfeel like forty or four? You know
what I told my wife? Isaid, it feels like twenty minutes underwater.
I'm gonna leave that alone. Wasn'thappy with that, no, but
she said, she said, whatis the twentieth anniversary? You know the
first year's paper, second year isis wood or yeah? Right, yeah,
(27:47):
we would and then it gets eventuallyit's like silver. And she said,
what is twenty And I said,oh, I looked it up.
It's waterboarding. So I'm like thatgreat guy to get married to you and
me sentimental, very romantic. What'son tonight's Big show? But well,
we got to talk about the rain. Blah blah blah. Coverage from here
until ten o'clock, nothing but therain. You know, it's weird.
(28:10):
I just looked it up. Atwhat a coincidence. I looked it up.
It's gonna rain tomorrow afternoon in Burbankand then Sunday afternoon. But I
looked up Big Bear. They saythere's nothing coming to Big Bear. That's
what that's weird. You would thinkthat they would get some of the sure
precipitation, yes, no, orsomething. I don't know, but maybe
they maybe they aren't. Well, maybe Mark Ronner knows. He's the expert
when it comes to weather around.Oh boy, here we go. Yeah,
(28:32):
I love it. And then nineo'clock the big hour, you know,
every Friday with the movies. That'sright, any theme tonight, no
theme tonight, but we are givingaway later with mo Kelly T shirts.
Okay, and last week you gaveaway certificate. It's like fifty dollars certificates,
JAMC fifty dollars gift cards. Wetry to keep it moving and mix
it up. We try to giveaway as much stuff as possible. Yeah,
I love it. Man, allright, I'll be listening and I
(28:55):
crazy week. Appreciate you, brother. Yeah, nice to see about it.
