Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's k I AM six forty and you're listening to
the Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
App caf I Am and six forty.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
It's Conway Show and it's live. We're Thursday, right Thursday.
Oh that's great. I'll tell you what just happened that
clipped me out a little bit. I went into Bellio
and I said, hey, Bellio, can we get the Duke
of sports to come on to talk about Super Bowl
and also the NBA trade deadline? And she said, yeah,

(00:32):
I think I can get him. And I said, is
he still in the building and she said, yep, he's
still in the building. So I walked back to the
studio and I said, oh, I forgot I tell her something.
So go back in that room and he's sitting right there.
And I'm like, was he sitting there the whole time
that I was talking about him? And Belly, Yeah, he's
been sitting here the whole time, and I said, I
didn't see him.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
I said no, and that's why I said, yeah, let
me see if I could get him.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
And I'm like, oh my god, I become my great
grandfather for I don't see people in the same room.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
And then He went along with it too. He goes, yeah,
I've been here the whole time.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
And I'm like, Holy chryst, someone I'm dying. And then
I realized, oh he was around the corner and he
slipped in. Yeah, that's what happened. All right, all right,
the Duke of Sports. Nice to see your money. I
know you're a big Laker guy. Yes, is that your
number one team in town?

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah? Okay, all right?

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Then Dodgers Rams or maybe Rams, Dodgers, I don't know,
Dodgers Rams, Okay, Dodgers Rams.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
And then King's way off in the distance. Yeah, and
Galaxy and Galaxy okay, all right, all right. Galaxy is cool. Okay,
most most championships and MLS history. Oh I didn't know that.
Oh yeah, I Where do they play now? Depots Center,
Dignity Health Sports Park Center, okay, whatever it's called that
in Los Angeles, Carson, Carson. Okay, it was home deep yea, yea, yeah,

(01:45):
you used to be home Depot Center, but yeah, no,
Dignity Health whatever, go Galaxy, sure thing don't.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
All right, So let's talk about super Bowl. But first
we wanted to talk about sports. This is the deadline today, Yes,
for NBA trades at what time it was at noon today?
It wasn't okay, So no more trades can be made
in the NBA today, correct, And any.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Big ones that we should know about, well, I mean
the biggest one was yesterday Anthony Davis going to d C.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
From Dallas. Yes, from Dallas. So the whole Dallas, that
whole Dallas trade has blown.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Up on them. Yeah. Yeah. The only player left that, uh,
the Lakers traded to the Mavericks is Max Christy, who's
actually having a career year. But that's kind of besides
the point. It's like they traded for Anthony Davis for
Luca Donchs And now the next trade deadline, Anthony Davis
gets traded to Washington, DC to the Wizards and gets
paired up with Trey Young.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
And so the last person in that trade was Max Davis,
Max Christy, Max Christy, Okay, ye, Max Christy. So that
deal would have never gone through if it was Max
Christie for Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
No, no, no, no, nobody would take that phone call.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
No, but that's ultimately what that deal ended up with.
And then and then a player to be named later
from Washington.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
No, Jalenafino went to Utah. Oh okay, okay, right, all right, wow,
yeah mighty yeah. But here in town, Lakers made a
trade this morning and then right before the deadline ended.
Who do we get, Well, the Lakers got Lout Canard
from Atlanta. Right before the deadline ended, the Clippers traded

(03:20):
a Vicha Zuboch to an Indiana and got back two
first round picks, a second round pick, and Benedict Mathern.
So the Clippers end up getting two first round picks,
one of them, yeah, one of which is it could
be this year, right, but it's protected, so it could
end up being in twenty thirty one. Okay, all right,

(03:42):
So the Clippers did well one Yeah, that is a
ways off. It's a few years away. Yeah, it's five years. Yeah,
I mean I don't think. I don't think a team
can wait. My Clippers are in full rebuild mode because
they got rid of James Harden they sent him to Clee.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
But they weren't the rebuild mode over the summer. They
were in championship mode.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah. Then they start six and twenty one, right, that's tough,
but but I feel bad for the Clippers. Here's my prediction.
For the Clippers.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Okay, they're gonna move that team out of town, and
they're gonna sell that arena too the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
I don't know, that's my prediction. I don't know. Bomber
will probably keep onto the arena even if he moves
the team because that's a lot of money because they
could do concerts.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah, but I would, Okay, then don't sell it to Lakers,
but have the Lakers move there and play there.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
I think that's what's gonna happen. Yeah, I mean, Chargers
pay rent to the Rams to play it so far,
so I'm definitely plausible.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
And it's and it's also very plausible that the Los
Angeles City Council will let yet another team get away.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Yeah, because Inglewood is technically not LA, that's right.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
So they got the Clippers, left the Rams that they
didn't get the Rams, they didn't get the Chargers. And
then and they are UCLA. They had UCLA at the
Coliseum for a while.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
That's gone.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
I mean, they're they're they're hemorrhaging teams out there. The
Galaxy is not the LA Galaxy doesn't play in LA
playing Carson, right, So LA has nothing and you know
how many of the A World Cup games are gonna
be in La Zero. They're all gonna be at Sofi.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
So the city of Los Angeles technically doesn't have one
game in this upcoming huge World Cup. So why does
Mayor Bass keep making a big deal about the World
Cup coming to town.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
It's odd, isn't it. It's strange she does not have
a single game in under her belt. There's not gonna
be a kick, not gonna be a header or whatever
they call it in soccer in La come World Cup
and we only have eight games.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
They're all at Sofi Stadium.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Before, like last year, when Marabas said, well we got
World Cup coming, I thought, oh, we have all the games.
They're all gonna be in La the championship will be
in La Now championship is in New Jersey.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Well, and this is also the first time the World
Cup has three countries hosting it, with Canada, Mexico and
the United States. Okay, right down, So we got to
split it with them? Yeah, well right, okay, So let's
talk So the NBA, the Dodger, I mean, the Lakers
got healthier today. It's and what happens to Lebron that's
a rap with the Lakers. Yeah, with his career, who knows,

(06:01):
you think you'll play again next year. I don't know.
I bet he doesn't. I don't. In my heart, I
say no. But I also just don't think he You
think he wants to go out a winter, not even
to go out of winter. I just don't think you
can't do it without a farewell tour. Oh, I say, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, Yeah,
I think you're right. It's like I don't. I don't

(06:24):
think he would be the type of person to just
retire at the end of the year and announce it
once the season is over.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Right, because of because of his history and his history
of announcing what he was going to Miami. He had
an ESPN special about yeah the decision. Yeah right, And
so you're right, I think what he Here's what I
would do with if I was Lebron. I would go
to some smaller stadium, maybe like Cleveland, you know, because
that's his hometown. And I would get his son, all
both of his sons, his.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Son, yeah, his middle his middle child, a second son,
his red shirting at Arizona.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Now, okay, I would get both of his sons to
play on the Cavaliers and I'd also get his wife
to play on the Cavaliers too, because who cares who wins,
You just want to go see that family.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
I mean, listen, I was watching the Lakers versus the
Brooklyn Nets their last game of the Grammy road trip,
eight game road trip, when Bronni got in because it
was a blowout. Bronnie got in with like four minutes left, right,
he got a couple of dunks, a couple shots. That
Brooklyn crowd was going, but na night, Oh that's great,
go and bananas for this kid. What was the score

(07:28):
where they wind up was like one twenty four, like
one to eleven, something like that. That Brooklyn has historic
losses this year. Yeah, they've lost by over fifty twice
this season. The the Knicks beat him by fifty two points. Yeah,
and then the Pistons just beat him by fifty three.
That's great. What a team, what a team to get
beat by four. Well, they're they're taking to get draft picked.

(07:48):
They're trying to get a high draft.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Pick, right, But it's not the you know, it's not
the generals versus the Globetrotters.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Let's not.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
You know, it's still professional sports. You know that the
Generals have won like more than twenty five times. Yeah,
they really kicked that. It's a couple of times. That's great.
All right, A real quick super Bowl. Who is going
to win the Super Bowl? You have your deep dish
and your your knowledge, but all your friends and your coworkers, and.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
I think the Seahawks win the game by they cover.
I think they win by at least a touchdown. Okay,
it's a four point five spread.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Okay, I am going to put all my money on
New England, so load up on Seattle. Yeah, load up,
because I'm going to make a single bet on New
England and it's going to be over by They started
the second quarter thirty nine.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
I was gonna say that by the time Bad Bunny
hits the stage.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Thirty nothing. Yeah, by the time the second quarter starts,
thirty zero and Seattle wins. Okay, all right, buddy, you're
the best ding dong.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Follow him. The Duke of Sports.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Score is that Eric Slar is a the Duke of
Sports right yes, on all social media, at the Duke
of Sports, at the Duke of Sports. So go follow
this kid. He's greating dong. All right, take dong with you.
We're live we'll come back, monks, He'll be with us.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
All right, go to the website k if I AM
six forty dot com. Slash Cash The keyword is dollard
La R. You could win one thousand dollars. All right, Monks,
is here the mayor's race.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Who's in? Who's out? Is Caruso in? No, No, he's
not in.

Speaker 8 (11:30):
Briefly yesterday decided he would reconsider rather to run after
opting out of the race a few weeks ago. Uh
flirting with this race for many months now, has a
lot to say about the city's fire recovery and other
issues related to city governance. Said I'm not going to run.
But then this La Times report comes out that suggests
Mayor Bass had a very heavy hand on the pen

(11:52):
when revisions were being made to that Palisades fire after
action report. He's really upset about that and says, yeah,
I'm going to reconsider. Well he did apparently and and
landed exactly where he was a few weeks school because
I'm not going to do it. The other thing is
former La School Superintendent Austin Butner, who tragically lost his
twenty two year old daughter early last month. He's dropped

(12:13):
out of the race. Oh God, absolutely, I thought this
was probably coming. So that clears the strongest candidates so
far against La Mayor Bess, who is running for reelection now.
The deadline to file is Saturday. It's too bad you
live in Burbank city limits, because you'd have a shot here.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
I could move.

Speaker 8 (12:32):
But Ella County Supervisor Lindsay Horvath, who did move recently
from West Hollywood into the city proper, is said to
be considering a run. But you know, you're in the
news biz. You're in the show biz game. You talk
about the news, right. If you're gonna announce, you're not
doing that on a Friday. No, you're not doing that
on a Saturday, especially with the Olympics and super Bowl

(12:55):
coming up. You're going to be buried you do it today.
So I've been waiting for an announcement from her. Nothing
nothing yet. So the field right now, WHI.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
It's pretty good for she lives in West Hollywood. She
was the mayor of West Hollywood. Okay, then, but isn't
she currently on the city council. She's not a La.

Speaker 8 (13:11):
County supervisor now. Oh, and so she has moved into
the city proper of Los Angeles. Was really fueled speculation
that she did so to run for mayor. Now I've
interviewed her many times and learned that she's lived in
her apartment in West Hollywood for a long time, so
this was a big decision to move into the city proper,
which you obviously have to live in the city to
run for mayor.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
There's seven or eight million, I think, I think it's
the Actually it's about six million if you live in
the city of Los Angeles.

Speaker 8 (13:36):
And this is what we're left with. Well, I'll tell
you what's interesting about this, And this is what your
left with. Your cynicism is understood, because you're right. I mean,
this is this is a great gig. Mayor of LA
is a prominent Oh yeah, you could steal money a
girl living, Yeah, exactly, the girl could make a living.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
You could steal from the taxpayers twenty four hours a day,
and the taxpayers don't care.

Speaker 8 (13:58):
But if you're somebody who's thinking I'd like to get
into this race, I see weakness in the incumbent mayor,
Karen Bass, and I see some potential changes I could make.
But what I also see is this business heavyweight Rick
Caruso looming over the race for as many months as
he did, only not to get in. And now here

(14:19):
we are, and you see that even the other secondary
formidable candidate who has somewhat of a good name recognized
mission Austin Butner in the FeliCa Can can I get
to the top two in June? And now he's dropped out.
A lot of people who may have been considering this
race probably have run.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Out of time.

Speaker 8 (14:38):
Who is left? Karen Bass right, who is running for reelection?

Speaker 2 (14:43):
That's it.

Speaker 8 (14:44):
We know she is facing opposition from outspoken Palisades Fire
survivor in reality TV personality Spencer Pratt. And there is
someone challenging Mare Bass to her left, ideologically community organizer
and housing advocate Ray Huang to day. Another candidate did
jump in the race, not a very well known man.
His name is Adam Miller. He is a former tech

(15:06):
executive and the co founder of a homeless non profit.
He says he's an outsider to elected office and has
the relatively unique background having been both a business leader
and a nonprofit leader and working across multiple sectors. He says,
the city's been on a decline and it's hard to watch. Okay,
So who is the main challenger for Bass? Is it

(15:26):
the horror Bath who is not in the race yet,
so technically she doesn't get in there. This is a
very favor favorable field for Karen Bass. I mean, it
just absolutely is now. I know there are people who
are listening right now saying they're really excited about Spencer
Pratt and this you know, this outside campaign, this insurgent campaign.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Right, but people outside of the West Side don't know
who he is.

Speaker 8 (15:48):
Well, they might even know who he is, but and think, yeah,
you've got the right to the grievances that you feel
and are sharing about the Palisades fire, But what about
everything else? And can you articulate a compelling position on
those issues?

Speaker 2 (16:02):
He hasn't done that yet, still very early.

Speaker 8 (16:04):
There's still some time from developed that platform and the
way he conveys those messages. Ray Huang is somebody who
is of the more leftist oriented politician in Los Angeles.
Will see if she can gather that democratic socialist ground
game which is effective in the city proper. And what
is this Adam Miller going to do? We just learned

(16:24):
about him today, all right.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
I will say this though, if you live in La
County and you're depressed that mayor Bath might get another
four years. If you don't live in the city of
La if you live in Burbank, Culver City, Palmdale.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
I don't know Westlake.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
If you live in Orange County, pray that Marabaths gets
in again because your property value is going to go up.

Speaker 8 (16:44):
Well think about this also, as supervisor Horvath reportedly considers
jumping in this race. I know there are a lot
of people within earshot of this radio station who are
regularly saying, Man, I wish LA City were operated better.
But have you ever heard anyone say I wish LA
City were better operated? You know, like La County.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
That's true, that's a tough position, but these you're right exactly.
But I will say that the people who live in
the Sate of l A, I've never heard this. The
city of La really knocks it out when it comes
to services. I've never heard anybody say that. I have
heard people live in burbanks say that, but I've never
heard people live in the city of lay. It is
a very challenging time in Los Angeles. Dark days, really,

(17:26):
and it's not just because of the natural disaster. There
are a lot of self inflicted wounds that this city
is dealing with and more lawsuits coming up, more lawsuits.

Speaker 8 (17:33):
And by the way, you can be mad at the
mayor all you want and rightfully, so you know I'm
not justscunting your grievances. The city council is not great either,
and they willed a lot of power in this type
of government. Yeah, it's the worst.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
If you don't, if you live outside the Catey of
l A, you're gonna your property value is going to
go through the roof.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Can I get you and your wife to put an
adu in the backyard? One hundred percent? Yeah, you got
to make candy everyone? All right?

Speaker 1 (17:56):
Don thanks Monks eight to ten on Saturday.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM sixty.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
All right, we have a Cameron Guthrie, who is Savannah
Guthrie's brother and who put out a statement about the
mom still missing eighty four year old Nancy Guthrie. So
the story continues looking for this eighty four year old
woman who they say was kidnapped from her Arizona home
on Saturday night, shortly after she returned to her house

(18:30):
after having dinner with her daughter, and she didn't turn
up at church the next day and they got worried,
went to her house. She's not there, her wallet's there,
her cell phone's there, there's blood on the front steps.
She has a pacemaker, that's you know, and she needs
medication every twenty four hours to keep her going. And

(18:50):
this family is worried, sick about her. So they put
out a statement yesterday, video yesterday, and Belly was on
top of it. Belly was the first one to have.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
That out last night.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
I was a really sharp of Sharon Bellio and it
was the three of them. It was the two daughters
and the son talking about bringing mom home. And this
is Cameron Guthrie. This is the son of Nancy.

Speaker 9 (19:16):
This is Cameron Guthrie. I'm speaking for the Guthrie family.
Whoever is out there holding our mother. We want to
hear from you. We haven't heard anything directly. We need
you to reach out and we need a way to
communicate with you so we can move forward. But first
we have to know that you have our mom. We
want to talk to you, and we are waiting for contact.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
What a nightmare, you know, Now that there's so much
publicity around it, the captors are really hesitant to get
a hold of anybody because they can be discovered in
a heartbeat.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
And so this is not good. This is not good.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
And I don't know how this ends, but it certainly
is the big story every of every one of these
nation newscast, local newscasts, Fox, CNN, MS now they all
start their.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Newscasts with with this story.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
And uh, you know, some people are you know, not angry,
but sort of upset that they're not also getting the
attention when their mom is missing, or their dad or
their kids, and that so much attention is being you know,
put on this on the story.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
But this is a big deal.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
It's a you know, a huge personality with a very
popular morning show and her mom is kidnapped a couple
of days before. Savannah was supposed to go to the
Olympics that open tomorrow. As a matter of fact, I
think they're opening right now. With the time difference, it'll
be in the next couple hours that the Olympics open
and Savannah Gunthrie Guthrie instead of being in Italy, you know,

(20:50):
presenting the opening ceremonies and talking about the different sports
and the personalities and how these kids gave up everything
to be where they are and now she's at an
Arizona waiting looking for her mom. It's a nightmare. It's
an absolute nightmare. So If we have any information, we'll
pass that along. But it's really really horrible, and you

(21:12):
can hear it in this kid. I don't say kid.
I guess he's probing in his forties or fifties. In
Cameron Guthrie's voice, you can hear the despair. You can
hear he's been up for five days and dealing with
cops and accusations and it's just a nightmare.

Speaker 9 (21:27):
This is Cameron Guthrie. I'm speaking for the Guthrie family.
Whoever is out there holding our mother, we want to
hear from you. We haven't heard anything directly. We need
you to reach out and we need a way to
communicate with you so we can move forward. But first
we have to know that you have our mom. We
want to talk to you, and we are waiting for contact.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
Then there was also a rumor going around that there
was a there was some kind of letter or email
that was sent to a couple of TV stations a
ransom note, and that turned out to be bs and
a man has been accused of sending a phony ransom
text to Savannah Guthrie's family about the missing mom. Can

(22:09):
anybody guess what state this rocket scientist lives in anybody.
Anybody want to take a wild guess as to where
this nut lives. Angel, let's go with you. First, you
want to guess what state this cat lives in?

Speaker 3 (22:27):
California?

Speaker 1 (22:28):
That's exactly right. Yeah, home of the nuts, Home of
the nuts. We've got another one. There's always a California
connection to craziness.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Always.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Well, he's been arrested and charged, according to the criminal
complaint file today, his name is Derek Kalela c A
L L E L L A Kalila, Derek Kalela, and
he's in his mid forties. He messaged Guthrie's daughter Annie
and the son in law about the ailing eighty four

(22:59):
year old mom and he wanted bitcoin. He wanted bitcoin
sent to his account, and the FBI arrested him and
knew who he was about eight minutes after he sent this.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
Yeah, not a upright chap.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
But now he's looking at a long sentence because of
how all the publicity around this case, and he's probably
going to regret, if not already, he's going to regret
it the next couple of years that he's done this.
So somebody, I guess he wanted I guess he's charing
charged with stealing almost ten thousand dollars in unemployment benefits

(23:35):
between twenty twenty and twenty twenty two. And so he's
got a record, and now he wanted to combined. Oh no,
here it is. The person was one of thirteen La
County employees who were charged with felony grand theft for
stealing combined four hundred and thirty seven thousand dollars in
state unemployment benefits during COVID. Remember all that money that

(23:57):
went out thirty billion dollars. Well, this chap involved with that.
So he's gonna be a sentenced. This is amazing that,
you know the people, they think that they can outsmart
the FBI and the local cops. Yeah, I'll just lob
an email in there, get a couple million bucks, and

(24:17):
I'll be off to France. No, that's not how it works.
You'll be in jail for an awful long time, you'll
have a stigma attached to you, we'll never be able
to get another job, and you have turned your life
upside down. I don't know if it was already upside down,
but it certainly is now. Doug Steckley used to say
the most dangerous people in this world are people nothing
to lose, and I think that cat falls under that category.

(24:39):
So Derek, if you're listening, bad move, buddy, bad move.
All right, we're live. We'll keep an eye on the story.
Anything comes in, we'll have for you immediately. Bellio is
all over this story.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on de Mayo from
KFI AM six forty.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
You know, getting back to this Savannah Guthrie st story
with her mom Nancy, I read something today online that
immediately made me take action. So somebody allegedly broke into
or went into Nancy Guthrie's house on Saturday and kidnapped
her and took her out.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Well, she has all.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
These ring cameras or nest cameras all over the place,
and they said, oh, we'll just go to those cameras
and we'll obviously see the guy or the gal that
did this. But she wasn't paying the monthly fee for
the camera. She wasn't paying the seven dollars a month

(25:39):
where you can get a thirty day backlog of video.
And you know what I did. Immediately after I read that,
I put that story down and I immediately took out
my credit card and bought the thirty days of my
new video camera security system and paid for it immediately

(26:02):
because it's seven dollars and sixty cents a month. And
can you imagine what an a hole I would feel
like if I didn't spend the seven dollars and sixty
cents a month and something happened to my wife and
my daughter and I didn't have the video and I
have a pocket full of uh, you know, Santa Anita's lips,
and I didn't spend the seven dollars for that video. Immediately,

(26:25):
I went and spent and you know, the seven or
eight dollars a month of the Crozier turned me onto
that that camera it's a garage camera. Yeah, man, do
you have the monthly subscription? I do not, Okay, so
it just doesn't save for me. Yeah, I can't.

Speaker 7 (26:40):
That's another one of those subscription things, like, man, I'm
not gonna get caught up in this.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
I'm with you. I'm with you, and I it.

Speaker 7 (26:44):
Rings the same way I got to pay extra for
if you got multiple cameras.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
I'm with you. I didn't do it until today. Oh really.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Yeah, And as soon as I read that story, seven
dollars a month. Easy, But belly o, your mom has
those cameras around the house. Is she have the monthly subscription?

Speaker 3 (26:59):
She does have this sub scription?

Speaker 1 (27:00):
She does? Yes, she's a smart woman. How old your
mom eighty eight?

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Oh? So you are?

Speaker 1 (27:05):
You can really relate to you know, the anguish she's
probably going through. And your mom lives on her own.
I'm sorry, I guess I was done talking.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
WHOA next?

Speaker 2 (27:21):
All right, go ahead, nobody will ever talk again.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
What did you need to know?

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Conway?

Speaker 4 (27:29):
Now?

Speaker 1 (27:29):
Just saying that your mom, who's eighty eight, lives alone?

Speaker 2 (27:34):
Right now you can.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Talk h sometimes?

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Yeah, okay, And that she should have the subscription to
that video.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Now I can talk. She does, okay, but has she
had it for a while? And do you feel safe
with your mom living alone? Now you can talk? Well?

Speaker 6 (27:50):
No, but you know my mother is very independent and
at eighty eight, is that right? Yeah? And so she
she drives thill, yes, and so she feels safe and
and she likes her independence.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
And I think when you know, the time comes, she'll know.

Speaker 6 (28:06):
So I think a lot of people will push back, like,
you know, this woman shouldn't be living alone. She Nancy
Guthrie I've read some of the comments where people felt like,
you know, what's an eighty four year old woman doing
living alone? That was her choice, was an independent woman. Yeah,
so that's that shouldn't be the case. It should be
up to the people. And you know, obviously, if we

(28:26):
saw that she needed somebody to live with her, we
would right when.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
But when she's eighty eight and you're visiting her and
she drives you, obviously the seatbelt goes on pretty quick.
But is it like a mister Toad's wild ride down
to the market.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Well, when I'm there, I drive.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
Oh okay, she never drives you.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
She hasn't in a while.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Now, Yeah, because you don't trust that, right, No, I
just do it. Yeah. My dad got to that point
where it was like, you know, like, well, you know
you're doing that thing where he gets too close to
cars on the curb, you know, like, oh god, that's
about an inch away from that car. Hey, yeah, let
me drive home. You know, I don't mind driving. I'm
wide awake, I'll drive home. What the hell, We're only

(29:09):
a block away. Let me take it over. Let me
take over from here. But there's it's always very difficult
to tell your parents that they're not driving anymore. It's
the most one of the most difficult conversations you can
have with your parents, that you're taking the car keys away,
because that's their independence. And nobody ever feels like they're
at that point where they don't where they can't drive anymore. Nobody,

(29:32):
and nobody ever, I don't think anybody has ever come
and said, hey, I just don't feel comfortable behind the wheel,
here's my keys. I've never heard of that happening. I've
always heard of the struggle when it comes down to, hey,
we got.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
To this weekend. We have to have a talk with dad,
got to take his keys away.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Why is that he's he's running to nine trash cans
in the in the last three weeks.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
He's cutting it too close, because.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
That's the first thing that old people do is they
get too close to the cars and the trash cans
on the street. They are are scared to death of
hitting a car head on, so they make too much
of an adjustment to the right and they bang into
trash cans and park cars, you know, just all of
a sudden bang, Oh grace, Sorry, well, it's to take

(30:17):
the keys away, but I can't believe that's great. Your
mom drives at eighty eight, that's remarkable. I mean she's
two years shy of ninety and still driving. There was
a woman that lived down there was a senior living
facility in Orange County and she was one hundred and
two years old and still drove like every day. So

(30:40):
I mean you can get there. I mean that's a
lot of luck. I think by so awfully difficult. But
here's my recommendation before we go to a commercial break.
If you, if your mom or dad has one of
these security cameras, make sure they're paying the eight dollars
a month so you have a thirty day backlog or
you pay it for but please make sure that you
have that video.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
It could be a matter of life and death.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Death in this case, they would have had a clear
shot of the person who stole and ripped off and
kidnapped Nancy Guthrie if they were paying for the subscription
to the video. So, whether it's rain Nest, Mique, whatever
it is, it's worth every dime. If you're not going
to spend the eight dollars a month on that, where
are you spending it? All Right, we're live on KFI
