Psychology suggesting that people who genuinely enjoy spending time alone
often make highly faithful and devoted partners. That's a true story,
because they don't rely on others for constant validation or escape,

you know, to escape boredom. Their relationships are built on
on not on choice, but rather you know, spending time alone.
And it really it really works out, it really helps,
and they are amongst the most loyal people in the world.
So maybe you want to ask that if somebody you're dating,
if they like spending time alone. People who value their

alone time, they usually exhibit small, very strong emotional independence
and self regular I don't know if I do with
the self regulation, but instead of seeking out superficial fleeting interactions,
they tend to cultivate smaller social circles and prioritize quality
over quantity. So this selectiveness means that when they do

let somebody into their inner circle, that they're highly committed
to nurturing that bond because they are comfortable with themselves.
They approach relationships from a place of security rather than neediness.

parasite outbreak that has spread in parts of the country.
Sources tell NBC News this that the FDA is investigating
iceberg lettuce.

they say that when you do get this worm or
this bacteria in you, that it doesn't show itself or

I think Taylor is a big supplier in the Midwest.
And this is where. You know, twenty six hundred of
these cases are in Michigan. Whoa, and you have to
think that it's more than twenty six hundred. There are
a lot of guys and gals in Michigan who are

hitting the can and not telling anybody. You know, they're
not everybody's rushing to the doctor the first time you
got to sit a spell. You know, ary is it?

Lest We thought maybe it's the lettuce or salagreens or whatever.
This is way more specific. We've been reporting on this.
Look at all these states where there are cases, some
seven thousand of them and more than half the states
across the country. Most of them are concentrated.

tail lights for miles and miles and miles. I'm like,

a mile and a half or so. He never ends.

know the guy texting. He texted me back. Yeah, we've
got a sort of a mild friendship going. And he
had a guy on last night that I immediately grabbed
my pen and wrote down the name Sweet Red Peach
Bakery in Pasadena, and it was a horrible story. And

Oh, Danny Griffin. I thought it was Danny Glover. I
thought you're named after the actor.

Oh man, it's just undescribable. So you know, we're franchisees
of Sweetwear Peach. We know the founder and so we
invested right and we chose this location because my family
on my great grandfather's side, the Turners. They've been in
Pasadena since eighteen ninety eight.

And I have a little and I have a little
history in Pasadena myself, but it wasn't the best history.
I lived here as a seventh grader in nineteen eighty two,
but we lived in a domestic violence shelter with my
mom and brothers and sisters, and we lived in a
travelodge here by Wilson Middle School. So you know, I
didn't think I was gonna come back full circle as

a business owner here. And then to get delayed because
of the eating fires and see your whole customer base
go through what they went through.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
It's just been a nightmare. And it keeps getting worse
and worse.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Yeah, I noticed that. You know, I'm familiar with this
red peach in Inglewood. I know there's another one in Carson,
but you have the location in Pasadena, and man, that
looks like a terrific place. But so you had the
Altadena fire and that sort of delayed you and probably
cost you a lot of money. And then recently, I
think this past weekend or sometime earlier this week, somebody

went up and took all the copper piping out of
your air conditioning unit. Is that correct?
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Yeah, I guess I'm in a row business because you know,
we we got spider man. I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 9 (12:32):
You've got guys going on roofs in the middle of
the night taking elect you. You know, life chances can
aitentiary chances to get a copper coil. Evidently the copper
coil is a very expensive piece. I guess it goes
inside of an air conditioning unit. I didn't know that.
I guess I'm ready for HBAC school now, I guess right.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
I love that about this.
Speaker 9 (12:59):
I'll try because I really want to cry, and I'm
sitting in my car with the AC on the only
AC I can get.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Is the building owner going to help you out? Or
is that your responsibility to fix it?
Speaker 9 (13:11):
Well, it's a unique situation because the building owner they
put it up there for us and then started through
their subcontractor HBAC guide. But then most vcs or tenants
are responsible for the maintenance of the units. But it's
it's kind of like a great area because you may

be responsible for the maintenance of them, but are you
responsible for protecting them from vandalism? So I don't know
if that's in the least. So it's a great area,
but they you know, they they've been really responsive and listening,
and you know we're losing customers.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Man.

I mean I had a lady come in there yesterday
and said, I just come back tomorrow. Another lady said, oh,
it's really hot in here.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
And you had to.
Speaker 9 (13:58):
Explain almost go through the entire story for every customer
that comes to the door. And the more customers come
in the lobby, the worst it gets because you're like,
oh my god, these poor people, and they ain't looking
at you and say are you okay? You're sweating like
a dog, do you need a pow? Or they're asking
me to do am I hongry? It just looks really
(14:19):
bad serving people. When you're looking like that, it looks
really bad.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
So the guys steal the air conditioning or the copper
piping from the air conditioning unit on the hottest day
of the year.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Go figure, it's the worst.
Speaker 9 (14:37):
Yeah, we didn't notice it because usually people complain and
say it's too cold in there, because bakeries are supposed
to be that Chris airy and nice, nice kind of
chill and you get your favorite dessert and it's like
you get out of there. But here it started. You know,
as the day went on, the moves start changing with
my customers, and I kind of noticed it on their faces.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Then the customer was apparently waving their faith. Oh wow,
I'll go to the bag.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Hey is the woman is the woman that was on
the news last night with you? Is that your wife?
Speaker 2 (15:10):
It better be quickly for the U haul church and
get myself. There's my fiance. But he's been an extended
We've been extended. I'm gonna be at the extended stay
to night. I won't hurry up.

I was totally against it because you just see, you
know how some people just are now they're they become
insurance agents and now they're analysts and life coaches and
just everybody chiming in, and it's like people asking questions, well,
what about your insurance, not knowing that it's live a
minute issue going on, and you just got to explain, man.

But as we were contemplating it, seging it up, we're
washing dishes. We're like, man, this grease is not coming off.
And then you notice not a hot water heaton goes out.
So she said you should just walk up and leave.
But yet we can't do that because we don't have
the finances to cover everything. We need to stay here

to sell, just to cover the things that are rising.
And then I go to the back and I look
at the temperature to walk in, and it's supposed to
be at forty degrees and it's going up.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
I'm like, wait a minute. Numbers don't lie. People do.
Speaker 9 (16:47):
And I'm looking him, I'm like, wait a minute. I said,
oh my god, the AC is not the walking is
not supposed to work in these type of temperatures because
the AC is doing a day and a night is cool.
So we're overworking all the equipment. So things are failing
because of.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
The heating here.
Speaker 9 (17:03):
And then we had a doctor come in today and
she said, this is not faith in here.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
You guys. You guys know heat stroke symptoms.
Speaker 9 (17:10):
Yeah, so they're like, well, we don't want you here
by yourself, and I don't want to chase money and
put your life on the line, you know, because I'm
a little season. I'm fifty five, and it's like, I'm
gonna ask act Lee the UNOV for Jerry Tartinian and
I played at cuinch Our High School. Wow basketball, but
I'm a little older now.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
Yeah. I looked in the mirror saw gray and I'm like, Wow,
you don't want to be.
Speaker 9 (17:30):
Laid out up in there with some cutts for trying
to keep this business open.

It reminds me Danny. We did a story a couple
of weeks ago on in Garden Grove where that tank
blew up or almost blew up, and you know, I'm
sure you follow that story, and the fire department got
so many people calling them suggesting on what to do
with it. They finally asked us and the news reporters, hey,
can you go on the air and ask these people

to stop calling with their suggestions on how to put
this out? You're you're going through the same thing on
on gofund me where everybody's out of suggestion on what
you should do.

Well. Those things are on the Instagram page that we

We looked at a couple of the comments and I
let my fiance handle that. She's just phenomenal with words
and she knows how to deal with people. I do too,
but I think a lot of people are more. People
are really sympathetic for people love. You know, our ladies
in this country are just wonderful and view the man
holding up the man they the best. And I just
think I just let her just run with this man.

She's phenomenal, she's beautiful, She's easier on the eyes than me.
That's why I'm glad it's going the radio. I said,
I'll take one where they can't see me.

conditioner ripped off from the top of his business in Pasadena.
Him and his fiance own this bakery. They were delayed
in opening the bakery because of the fire there in Altadena.

And he still has his wicked sense of humor, which
really says a lot about him and Danny's with us. Danny,
welcome back, buddy. I didn't know you all right that
you played for Jerry Tartanian. What year did you play
for him?
Speaker 9 (22:05):
So, I was on the team in ninety one ninety two.
I actually played on last years last year last year?
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Wow? Yeah, Oh that's wild. What position do you play?
Speaker 9 (22:17):
I played power forward, so out of high school, I
was top one hundred players coming out of high school.
Out of Cunsville High School, I was an All American
and actually signed with the University of Pittsburgh and that
good old SAT that they've now recended. I got a
six ninety, missed it by ten points and didn't get
a chance.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
To play as a freshman.
Speaker 9 (22:37):
So you know, I mean, it's just, man, you if
I go back on my life, man, since since you know,
since I was a kid, man, I went to fifteen
different schools K through twelve, man, and looked like and
I see the different things my mom went through, my
brothers and sisters, and I living on all these different
places and things, and just seeing her perseverance and determination.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Man. And she passed away in.
Speaker 9 (22:59):
Twenty eighteen, and my grandmother pass away a bout a
month later. I was on I was on the staff
at University of Connecticut where my mother, where my sister
passed away of cancer. And then when I came home,
I'm on the staff at Calistaten Northwidge of Reggie Didz
And then my mom passed away while I'm on the staff.
So I just I can't catch a break. But you know,
it's like, you know, and I just I just I
(23:22):
just stand staff fast, man, I just say right up,
and I just I got nothing but a miracle.

I got to take you to sant Anita. Your luck
has got to turn around.
Speaker 9 (23:31):
Yeah, man, but you know, but but I tell you
one thing that we do got, We got the ultimate gift,
which is a gift of life.

guys on this and yeah, we're coming here. But they
don't understand that. I'm telling people, every transaction is a

We're using it because we're barely open for transparence with you.
We were supposed to close about a month ago. You know,
we ran out of funds. Business for it's emotional, man.
You know, we were supposed to close it because you know,
when you can't pay utilities, you're don't payment plans, and
you know you're trying to pay the staff and and

then this happens I mean, it was like, man, this
is it because I was told her. I told her
after this, man, we want have to close because we
can't afford air conditions.

And then people was like, oh, we're insurance, Well we
can't afford the deductible. Oh they put this.

So I mean and then you know, the water heater
you know, went out, and you know, and you can't
you got that's got to be operational. So thank god
we got a blessing today from someone to cover it.

parasite outbreak that has spread in parts of the country.
Sources tell NBC News this that the FDA is investigating
iceberg lettuce.

they say that when you do get this worm or
this bacteria in you, that it doesn't show itself or

a lot of guys and gals in Michigan who are

not everybody's rushing to the doctor the first time you

seven thousand of them and more than half the states

history in Pasadena myself, but it wasn't the best history.
I lived here as a seventh grader in nineteen eighty two,
but we lived in a domestic violence shelter with my

didn't think I was gonna come back full circle as

a business owner here. And then to get delayed because
of the eating fires and see your whole customer base
go through what they went through.

It's just been a nightmare. And it keeps getting worse
and worse.

Yeah, I noticed that. You know, I'm familiar with this
red peach in Inglewood. I know there's another one in Carson,
but you have the location in Pasadena, and man, that
looks like a terrific place. But so you had the
Altadena fire and that sort of delayed you and probably
cost you a lot of money. And then recently, I
think this past weekend or sometime earlier this week, somebody

went up and took all the copper piping out of
your air conditioning unit. Is that correct?
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Yeah, I guess I'm in a row business because you know,
we we got spider man. I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 9 (12:32):
You've got guys going on roofs in the middle of
the night taking elect you. You know, life chances can
aitentiary chances to get a copper coil. Evidently the copper
coil is a very expensive piece. I guess it goes
inside of an air conditioning unit. I didn't know that.
I guess I'm ready for HBAC school now, I guess right.

I love that about this.

I'll try because I really want to cry, and I'm
sitting in my car with the AC on the only
AC I can get.

Is the building owner going to help you out? Or
is that your responsibility to fix it?

Well, it's a unique situation because the building owner they
put it up there for us and then started through
their subcontractor HBAC guide. But then most vcs or tenants
are responsible for the maintenance of the units. But it's
it's kind of like a great area because you may

be responsible for the maintenance of them, but are you
responsible for protecting them from vandalism? So I don't know
if that's in the least. So it's a great area,
but they you know, they they've been really responsive and listening,
and you know we're losing customers.

I mean I had a lady come in there yesterday
and said, I just come back tomorrow. Another lady said, oh,
it's really hot in here.

And you had to.

Explain almost go through the entire story for every customer
that comes to the door. And the more customers come
in the lobby, the worst it gets because you're like,
oh my god, these poor people, and they ain't looking
at you and say are you okay? You're sweating like
a dog, do you need a pow? Or they're asking
me to do am I hongry? It just looks really

bad serving people. When you're looking like that, it looks
really bad.

So the guys steal the air conditioning or the copper
piping from the air conditioning unit on the hottest day
of the year.

Go figure, it's the worst.

Yeah, we didn't notice it because usually people complain and
say it's too cold in there, because bakeries are supposed
to be that Chris airy and nice, nice kind of
chill and you get your favorite dessert and it's like
you get out of there. But here it started. You know,
as the day went on, the moves start changing with
my customers, and I kind of noticed it on their faces.

Then the customer was apparently waving their faith. Oh wow,
I'll go to the bag.

Hey is the woman is the woman that was on
the news last night with you? Is that your wife?

get myself. There's my fiance. But he's been an extended

But as we were contemplating it, seging it up, we're
washing dishes. We're like, man, this grease is not coming off.
And then you notice not a hot water heaton goes out.
So she said you should just walk up and leave.
But yet we can't do that because we don't have
the finances to cover everything. We need to stay here

to sell, just to cover the things that are rising.
And then I go to the back and I look
at the temperature to walk in, and it's supposed to
be at forty degrees and it's going up.

I'm like, wait a minute. Numbers don't lie. People do.

And I'm looking him, I'm like, wait a minute. I said,
oh my god, the AC is not the walking is
not supposed to work in these type of temperatures because
the AC is doing a day and a night is cool.
So we're overworking all the equipment. So things are failing
because of.

The heating here.

And then we had a doctor come in today and
she said, this is not faith in here.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
You guys. You guys know heat stroke symptoms.
Speaker 9 (17:10):
Yeah, so they're like, well, we don't want you here
by yourself, and I don't want to chase money and
put your life on the line, you know, because I'm
a little season. I'm fifty five, and it's like, I'm
gonna ask act Lee the UNOV for Jerry Tartinian and
I played at cuinch Our High School. Wow basketball, but
I'm a little older now.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
Yeah. I looked in the mirror saw gray and I'm like, Wow,
you don't want to be.
Speaker 9 (17:30):
Laid out up in there with some cutts for trying
to keep this business open.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
You know.

It reminds me Danny. We did a story a couple
of weeks ago on in Garden Grove where that tank
blew up or almost blew up, and you know, I'm
sure you follow that story, and the fire department got
so many people calling them suggesting on what to do
with it. They finally asked us and the news reporters, hey,
can you go on the air and ask these people

to stop calling with their suggestions on how to put
this out? You're you're going through the same thing on
on gofund me where everybody's out of suggestion on what
you should do.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Well. Those things are on the Instagram page that we
went peace Dan.
Speaker 9 (18:09):
We looked at a couple of the comments and I
let my fiance handle that. She's just phenomenal with words
and she knows how to deal with people. I do too,
but I think a lot of people are more. People
are really sympathetic for people love. You know, our ladies
in this country are just wonderful and view the man
holding up the man they the best. And I just
think I just let her just run with this man.

She's phenomenal, she's beautiful, She's easier on the eyes than me.
That's why I'm glad it's going the radio. I said,
I'll take one where they can't see me.

here and things are not going with the best circumstances.

Him and his fiance own this bakery. They were delayed
in opening the bakery because of the fire there in Altadena.

And he still has his wicked sense of humor, which
really says a lot about him and Danny's with us. Danny,
welcome back, buddy. I didn't know you all right that
you played for Jerry Tartanian. What year did you play
for him?
Speaker 9 (22:05):
So, I was on the team in ninety one ninety two.
I actually played on last years last year last year?
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Wow? Yeah, Oh that's wild. What position do you play?
Speaker 9 (22:17):
I played power forward, so out of high school, I
was top one hundred players coming out of high school.
Out of Cunsville High School, I was an All American
and actually signed with the University of Pittsburgh and that
good old SAT that they've now recended. I got a
six ninety, missed it by ten points and didn't get
a chance.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
To play as a freshman.
Speaker 9 (22:37):
So you know, I mean, it's just, man, you if
I go back on my life, man, since since you know,
since I was a kid, man, I went to fifteen
different schools K through twelve, man, and looked like and
I see the different things my mom went through, my
brothers and sisters, and I living on all these different
places and things, and just seeing her perseverance and determination.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Man. And she passed away in.
Speaker 9 (22:59):
Twenty eighteen, and my grandmother pass away a bout a
month later. I was on I was on the staff
at University of Connecticut where my mother, where my sister
passed away of cancer. And then when I came home,
I'm on the staff at Calistaten Northwidge of Reggie Didz
And then my mom passed away while I'm on the staff.
So I just I can't catch a break. But you know,
it's like, you know, and I just I just I
(23:22):
just stand staff fast, man, I just say right up,
and I just I got nothing but a miracle.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
I got to take you to sant Anita. Your luck
has got to turn around.
Speaker 9 (23:31):
Yeah, man, but you know, but but I tell you
one thing that we do got, We got the ultimate gift,
which is a gift of life.
Speaker 2 (23:37):

Still breathing, and and we're still serving the community and
people still coming in here as hot as it is.
And if I can stand behind that counter and watch
people come in here and stand there and not complain.
We lost a couple of customers, but it's just a
blessing to see people even come in here with these
type of conditions, man, and buy things.

It's like we saw you on ABC. We heard you
guys on this and yeah, we're coming here. But they
don't understand that. I'm telling people, every transaction is a
is a blessing.

We're using it because we're barely open for transparence with you.
We were supposed to close about a month ago. You know,
we ran out of funds. Business for it's emotional, man.
You know, we were supposed to close it because you know,
when you can't pay utilities, you're don't payment plans, and
you know you're trying to pay the staff and and
(24:26):
then this happens I mean, it was like, man, this
is it because I was told her. I told her
after this, man, we want have to close because we
can't afford air conditions.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
And then people was like, oh, we're insurance, Well we
can't afford the deductible. Oh they put this.
Speaker 9 (24:40):
So I mean and then you know, the water heater
you know, went out, and you know, and you can't
you got that's got to be operational. So thank god
we got a blessing today from someone to cover it.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
We couldn't pay the water heater to that.
Speaker 9 (24:52):
Somebody had to come up here and meet the technician
to pay for it today.

Good God. So where are you located? Are you off
del Mar?

So we're up dere Mar, Man and the thing is
the original location. You know. I'm modest as you can be,
as you know, humility as you can be.

So this bakery was founded by a young young teacher,
a kindergarten teacher something who gave up teaching retirement. Everything
started this dream. We've been friends since middle school and
we decided to invest with her, you know a few
years ago, and I think it's one of the best
bakeries in the country.

I think it's I think it's you know, just hands
down one of the best in the state. Actually.

So when we came here, we just thought, Okay, the
lines are going to be like Inglewood. But people don't
know we're here, and we're on the Royal Parkway three
nineteen Southworld park Way, right across the street from Houston's.
When people are on the street, they're focused to get
on this one team to get out of here, or
they focus to get home when they come off to
one ten, open, eleven to six. I've been trying to

stay here on Fridays and Saturday nights sweets after dark
to ten pm so somebody can see our lights on,
just standing here to try to get more transactions, more visibility,
more mircability, so we can get more.

People in here.
Speaker 9 (26:15):
Because I'm thinking, okay, we closed at six people that
don't know we're here, and then people are not home yet.
So I'm doing everything in the book. I'm throwing the
book at it, man, and then the book got thrown
at me. And it's just crazy, man, Because today I
had to walk out of here was so hot, and
I said, I can't do this no more. I can't
just stand here and sweat like this, trying to get transactions,
trying to serve the community, just to stay open.

And the certain people that want.
Speaker 9 (26:39):
Sweet treats because some of this stuff make people feel good.
People come here, try and hunting us all the time
saying this sweet potato pie reminded me of my grandmother,
or this yellow with chocolate cake nobody makes it, it reminds
me of my great grandfather, and all this stuff. And
we've had crying moments in here with people from the community,
feeling for them, for the fires, everything, man, And now

now we need somebody. We need somebody to stay open.
This is bigger than AC we're trying to stay open.

Yeah, So you don't want to say that on.

on travel chaos at your airport, and this morning it's
prompting some backlash. Calshi one of the two largest prediction markets.

and cash in and then everybody else in the back
it's screwed.

Has notified federal regulators it plans to let users bet
on the percentage of canceled flights at any given airport
and if that rate of cancelations would rise or fall.
The company already offers similar bets for New York's JFK
and Chicago's O'Hare.

But this new plan would extend well beyond those covering
airports nationwide. Airlines for America, though, the trade group representing
the nation's air carriers, says it has serious concerns, writing
in a statement you see part of it there. The
safety and security of the aviation system should never be
treated as a betting proposition. The industry also warns that
these bets could give bad actors an incentive to find

ways to get flights canceled.
