Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Murphy Sami Jody after the show.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Podcast Murphy, did you find your wallet?

Speaker 1 (00:05):
I did find my wallet?

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Good.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Yeah, you left it for me, I guess on the think, Yeah,
you had. You were holding onto my cards and my
items and things because I had the MRI yesterday and.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
I was holding on to all of it because do
you want to go ahead and tell Sam about well
you had to take a value for it.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
For the MRI.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
I had to take an Ada van for it. Oh wow.
And actually I had to take two out of van
for it. And there's a timing thing. Now it's not
the highest dose of atavan, but you know, because the
first one wasn't working. Honestly, I took it and I
told Jody the entire drive there, It's like, this isn't
doing anything, Jody, It's really weird. I am not feeling
any different whatsoever. And my doctor told me, will you

(00:48):
take the second one when you get there? So Jody says,
why don't you go and take it now?

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Well on the way to something that for anybody who
doesn't know, Murphy's claustrophobic, extreme claustrophobia, I would say, And
so the thought of even this sit down, stand up, MRI.
That's open is still a problem. That's why the valum
and so on. The way, the anticipation of something is

(01:13):
almost is always worse, and so on the way is
when you were feeling the anticipation the worse and you're like,
this doesn't work, I might take it now, then take
it now so that we walk in at least you
hopefully start to feel something.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
What we learned.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Yesterday is that, of course we can't give this sort
of advice out. But the next time that you have
anything where you are supposed to take valuume and they
tell you an hour before, I want you to take.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
It two hours before because you were.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Finally completely chill all evening after.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
And again it's not valuume, it's out of it. And
the reason you're saying that is are two very different.
You know, they're the same drug class, but they function
very differently. And valuum does not do anything for me.
Oh you remember that the first time we went and
try to do that, valuum didn't. It's weird.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
You know what's out of ann considered it's the.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Same kind of bens of diopine I think or something
like that. Duh, I think that's what it's called. Yeah,
I think I said that right.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
It's an interesting evening, but it's so many little stories
to tell you.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
But well, it did eventually make me so tired that
I don't remember a lot of yesterday evening. It's very strange, honestly,
because it's not the kind of sedation you know for
surgery or whatever. And I'll tell you the procedure actually
went very well this time because I had forgotten. In
between when I had the MRI I done for my

(02:33):
neck the last time and when I had that ridiculous
eye thing that happened two years ago. They were doing
a brain scan, and when they do a brain scan
it takes longer, and there's a mask that they have
to put over you. There this brace in front of
your face, and I was waiting for them to put
that on, and and I forgot. He said, no, that's
only when we do brain scans. I'm like, all right,

(02:54):
well then this is even better.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
So not having a mask on.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Having a mask on is a problem for Murphy because
of the claustrophobic claustrophobia. So we get there to the center.
He's worried about the adavan not working yet. We get
in there, he gets you sit down, and you and
they of course sort of strap you in and you
start going back and it's just to me, it's just
a cozy looking seat that's scooted back between two walls,

(03:21):
which are that which is the machine. But I could
see as you were going backwards away from me because
I was in the room, Murphy requests that I go
in the rooms.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I had to take off all my jewelry, and.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
So you couldn't stand that. Do I have to take
off all my jewelry? What about the earrings?

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Can I just leave these anyway?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Watching you go backwards, I could see the fear, the
claustrophobia in action, and I felt bad for you. And
when he stopped the chair, you were like, okay, good,
I don't think I can go back any further than that.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
He is like, we're not going It's like good.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Yeah, so because your wedged and your wedging pretty tight,
but look, I prefer this is that stand up, sit
down one. You know, it's the only kind of mrin
that I can I can do and it was actually comfortable.
I mean, he went by faster than I thought. Maybe
everything started to kick in by that point I don't
know if that's what happened or not, but there.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Were some problems. Number one, he wanted me in the room.
And it's sweet because he do you remember what you
said to me?

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Uh no, I don't.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Here, here's my Valentine.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
I was sitting there. It started, it was about to
kick in. He goes, we're about to start. Just please
be still, mister Murphy, please be still, And you kept
looking at me smiling.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
I'm like, stop, you gotta be still, and you were like,
thank you for being here. Everything's better with you here.
Oh yeah, that's right, And I was like, stop talking.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Jody has a natural calming effect on me. But you
know what's what's weird is when you're told to be still,
that's when you have tough time beings still. That's when
scritch it something. It's so weird.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
It was really cold in the room, so the tech
gave me a blanket.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
He was like, I usually give these to the patients.
I'm like, do you want it? Murphy?

Speaker 1 (05:00):
You know I was, you know, sweating, did the music
while this is happening? Or you know? I didn't need to.
I don't sit there and smile. Yeah, In fact, I
don't really want to be sealed off from what's going
on around me. So all I just listened to were
the loud magnet noises. It was okay, yeah, And uh
so when we're going in, you know, I have all
the insulin stuff to be you know, contend with, and

(05:21):
they want to make sure I have everything off of me.
And so I was on the last day of my
dex COMG seven. For anybody who wears one or is
type one, they know that the timing of that is
good because the insurance only gives you enough for the
time period you need them. So if you have to
take one off and you're one day in, you're gonna
get shorted on the back end unless you ask for

(05:42):
an emergency back was right exactly, so because you never
have extras, you have literally just enough you know that
insurance pays for. And uh so, I you know that
was good timing. I removed that I knew take that off.
Iknew take the pump off. I didn't have to ask
them because I couldn't remember. All right, So the you know,
the fusion set part of it, the plastic stuff, I said,

(06:03):
I used the steel needle version. I don't use the
plastic canular version. Does that need to come out? He said, yeah,
that needs to come out too. I need to think so, yeah,
so that would yank it out otherwise. Yeah. But the
thing is, and I know that sounds worse. It's such
a tiny needle, Sam, you don't feel it going in
or coming out. It's say, it's not like the size
of needles that we have when you're killed, you know.
And but but then I remembered, Wow, there's one thing

(06:24):
and he to take off that nobody can see, you know,
and remove and that's my medical or necklace, the one
that tells anybody that I'm Type one if they need
to see that, you know.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Put all that stuff in a locker. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Do you have any other jewelry on you? No? I
don't think so. I think so I went in there
metal free and what was so? I just sat and
the only thing he didn't do was and I asked
him not to tilt me back because they will do
that too. They want to tilt you back to help
you be still. I don't do that. I'm sitting sitting up.
So you just put a little pillow back there. And

(06:57):
at the end of it, it took what do you
think twenty minutes, twenty five minutes.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Or twenty five minutes. It wasn't that long.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Yeah, and uh. I asked him, are the pictures clear?
That was my biggest concern because the last time I
had this done, the pictures were not clear despite my
best efforts. I moved a little bit and he said nope,
he said, these are perfect. I'm like, yes, And so
do you.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Remember anything after? Because we have some stories?

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Do we really?

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Well?

Speaker 1 (07:22):
So I do remember. Here's here's one that I didn't
tell you yet. When we were leaving, so you must
have said something to me. I said, okay, I'm going
to the restroom. I'll be back. I couldn't find you
when I walked back and I walked in. I went
back to the screening room. You weren't there. I went
back to the dressing area. You weren't there. I went
back into the lobby. It's like, all right, I guess
Jodie must be outside. But she probably told me, and

(07:43):
I just don't remember.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
I did.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Yeah, okay, I'm going to go.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
So if you're one or WHI took me five minutes,
you know.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
I crank the batmobile. I'm cold. I was so cold.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
I want to get it cranked up and get in
the car and get the get the seat ready for
you and all that.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Yeah, it's sorry about that. I know that they actually
have three different rooms in the facility, the waiting area
and a bathroom, so I know the whole place. The truth,
we were still on medication, so I really didn't bother you, right, No,
I didn't know. I wasn't worried him.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
The least after it was over was when he was
the most under the influence of the atavan, when I've
got him and it's and it's supposedly over. So I
know that you don't really remember the drive home, but.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Well I remember parts of it. We went to get
something to eat.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
No, No, we went home. I and I wanted to
let the dog out, walk the dog. You went to
lay down for a nap, and you were talking to
me about trying to still make your haircut. Oh, haircut
scheduled at five forty five pm. And I'm thinking, but

(08:47):
you had asked her you didn't know if you were
going to make it.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
And yeah, so Jennifer's awesome. She had I had premptively
told her, look, I have an MRI. Can we move
the date? She couldn't move the date, like, Okay, we'll
just reschedule in the future. Well, we got done early
for I realized we may be able to make this work.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
So he sends her a text, Hey, can I still
come for the five forty five appointment?

Speaker 2 (09:07):
He falls asleep hard.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
And I'm walking the dog's.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Five twenty and I come back into the house and
it takes me forever to wake you up. Hey, babe, Hey, babe, Hey,
did you know that?

Speaker 1 (09:18):
No? I did not know.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
And I shook.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Your feet and you were like what I said, Hey,
are you still keeping that appointment at five forty five
because you can't drive? Am I driving you to get
your haircut? And you go, I don't know. She never responded.
Murphy fell asleep before he knew whether he had the
appointment or not. It takes him a few minutes to
wake up. Clock is ticking. Sure, she said, sure, come on,

(09:41):
We hop in the car at five twenty five or
five thirty. This is normally on a good traffic day,
a twenty minute.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Drive, and that's early for Murphy. And that bothers me.
I even told her.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
I even told Murphy, I even told you this on
the way, although you don't remember it. I'm sure, I said,
she probably tells you five forty five, but she knows
it's going to be six.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Oh yeah, because she knows.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
You that you run late a lot because of appointments,
because of your life. It's not a judgment, but it's
just a fact. Anyone that has a regular contact or
appointment with you knows that. And sure enough, what time
do you think we've pulled into that parking lot. I'm driving,
not on adavan, and I'm doing my best six o'clock
five point fifty five pm.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
So do you remember the haircut?

Speaker 1 (10:25):
I remember the haircut. Now I wish you see I
was so you know, whatever zoned.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Out or zone.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
The first joke I would have made walking in is
you know I would have been here sooner, but Jodie
was driving. Yeah yeah, but I but see, I wasn't
alerk to do that. But I remember walking in, But
I was, I was. I mean, I was really fuzzy.
I was more fuzzy than I thought.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
When I got back from walking the dog before, I
was like, am I supposed to be? Do you have
that appointment? You're like, I don't know. If I had
not awakened you, you would have slept through that appointment. Yeah,
so anyway, we.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Really had to wake me up that hard. I don't
remember you shaking me. I know that I would really out.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
You were and you were Sam. It was not Murphy.
He was so dialed back. You weren't even telling me
how drive.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
It was so weird.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
You can usually make all kinds of suggestions about what lane
I should be in and such.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Anyway, I got you there on time, Yes, she was.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Everybody else was gone, so it was the last appointment
of the day. I mean the salon was empty. I
got to visit with Jennifer a little bit too. I
didn't know that you had told her.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
She asked. She started asking me questions.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
I didn't know you had told her all the stories
of why had left my last hairdresser, And she was like,
so what happened? Oh yeah, she knew some stuff about me.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
I didn't know she Jennifer is such a sweetheart, and
we just talk about things, and she asked about you
a lot and so. Yeah, but I didn't say anything
stupid while we were there at dinner. No, you didn't, okay,
I mean I.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Could tell you were different. She could tell.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
She was smiling at me like, oh, he's loopy. Yeah,
but no, you were just it's how you are. When
you are loopy, you're just a sweeter version of you.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
You were fine, that's very okay.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
That's it's weird because I didn't. I thought I was
just really tired. I didn't perceive much of a difference.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Do you remember driving leaving her place, the salon, and
then let's talking about dinner.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
I didn't want to cook.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
I was saying, you know what, I can just eat cereal,
you know me, I'd rather eat something at home.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
I'm happy to get home.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
And you started talking to your Siri, telling asking her
to talk about restaurants nearby.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
I forgot about that.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
She wasn't doing right.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Yeah, I think it was me that wasn't I know,
was just fine, you know.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
But anyway, we drove through and got some Greek. I
got a salad and and and that was fun. Do
you remember Do you remember any of the other.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Stuff, any of the other stuff. I remember when we
pulled out of the parking lot, it's a little weird
drop off from the driveway, that boom, But I don't
see that's weird now you asking. I don't know why
it's splotchy. I've never had that happen before on that
kind of medication. I've had it on the right. You know,
when you get truly knocked out for a surgery and

(13:11):
you're on verse said, which does get rid of your
memory on things change? You know, that's the one where
I experience that. But I guess I'm just foggy.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Well, you had left your wallet with all of your
all of your important stuff in my hand in my handbag,
in my purse, and so when I was leaving this
morning early and you were sleeping, that's when I said,
let me leave this for him on his bathroom sink,
so he just That's why I left it for you there,
because I had it and you didn't think to ask
for it back. I went to bed before you. I
don't know what you were doing on your phone late

(13:41):
on two out of vans, but did you buy anything like?
I'm just curious because you were still up when I
went to sleep last night. You were in the living
room on the comfy so far on your in your
little corner, and I'm like, baby, I'm going to sleep.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
It's I was wanted to go to sleep.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
I don't think I bought it? Did you? Were you
worried about the magnesium? Thing? Was that last night? The
extra magnesium?

Speaker 3 (14:06):
No, that was two nights ago when I said I
need my magnesium, I'm out.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
That was two nights ago.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
I don't remember why.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Man, I should have taken you shopping last night from
my Valentine's present.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
I just realized, do we.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Get a notification or something for Did I buy something?
Do I need to go back and make sure I did?

Speaker 2 (14:26):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
All I know is that you were on and I
was worried about you, answering emails on the way all
of that. I was like, please don't work right now,
but you I can't take it. I'm not going to
take your phone from you.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
No, no, I don't. I have no idea. Let me
see you next, MRI. I might need to ride along
with you for this lot. Yeah, no, no, you have
me worried. I don't remember what I was doing last night.
I know it was not long after you were already.
I was surprised the lights were out. You'd already turned
the lights out.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
You know what time I go to bed. I go
to bed early. Sleep is my superpower?

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I respect my sleep, I go to
bed early. We could have company and be like I'm out,
I gotta go.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Basically, Murphy, there's a blank spot for a couple hours
there at night. Yeah, there's a blank spot and maybe
a box with wullmos. Amazon smiles about the show of
the House.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Well, look, I'm just so glad you got the MRI done,
your results, your results soon, and then they'll know how
to help you with your oblasions.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Also known as your pain in the neck.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Ye.
