questions.
Your question could inspire ournext Podcasting Q&A episode.
In this episode, we areanswering a listener's question
about using AI for theirpodcast.
Today's question says, I'veheard a lot of hype around using
AI for my podcast, but I'm notsure I even know where to start.
How can AI help me produce mypodcast?
(00:45):
Okay, first, I'd like to befully transparent for a moment.
AI originally reallyintimidated me.
I was nervous to use it until Iunderstood a little more about
it and how it can really help mestreamline my workflow.
Now I use it all the time, andit's a tool that I want to share
with you.
So do me a favor, shake off anynerves you have around using AI
(01:08):
and hear me out.
For today's episode, I want usto think about AI as playing
three different roles for yourpodcast.
First, you can use AI as aresearch assistant.
You can also use AI as apodcast analyst.
And third, we can use AI as ourvery own co-host.
If you're launching a newpodcast or you're even trying to
(01:28):
come up with ideas for newepisodes for your existing
podcast, it's nice to bounceideas off of somebody.
Sometimes you can even bounceideas off of AI.
So you can use AI to help youresearch and brainstorm exactly
what you want your podcast to beabout.
If you're fairly new to AI,there are things out there
called an AI chatbot.
(01:50):
And the AI chatbot is reallyeasy to use.
There's different versions ofthem.
The one that I'm most familiarwith is ChatGPT, but you would
use Chat GPT to type in just acouple of sentences about what
your podcast is going to beabout.
Really just kind of braindumpwhat you are thinking.
And AI can analyze thatinformation that you've added.
(02:11):
And it has a big library ofresources that it can pull from.
And so AI can suggest thingslike what format would be the
best fit for this podcast thatyou are describing.
It can also spit back someideas for you.
So for the title and thedescriptions and episode topic
ideas, it will provide a list ofoptions that you can customize.
(02:34):
You can even describe exactlywhat you want your podcast
artwork to look like and ask AIto create an image.
It's up to you whether you wantto use the image created by AI.
But if you're using a graphicdesigner or you are designing an
image on your own, this is ahelpful way just to kind of get
an idea.
It gives you the image and youcan decide how you want to make
(02:56):
it custom to your podcast.
One of the ways that I like touse AI is I'll admit it, I don't
like hearing the same call toaction for every episode.
And so for a podcast like mine, podcasting QA, we have a call
to action that I include withevery episode because I love to
hear your questions and I wantto make sure that I'm always
(03:16):
asking for them, but I don'twant to ask in the same way
every week.
So sometimes I will prompt AIand say, hey, how can I ask this
same question in a creativeway?
And this will give me differentways of asking for you to send
me in questions as my listeners.
And so try that out.
If you have an existing podcastand there's something that
(03:38):
you're asking from yourlisteners, switch it up.
Maybe you can ask it in adifferent way that really gets
their attention and will inspirethem to reach out to you or to
connect with you or followthrough with the call to action
that you're saying in yourepisodes.
Moving on from theconceptualization of your
podcast, you can even ask AI tohelp you with the technical
aspects of podcasting.
(03:59):
So this includes ways ofsetting up your recording
studio, maybe how to make editsusing a certain editing
software, and how to use anaudio interface.
This is just scratching thesurface of the technical
questions that you can ask AI.
But like I said, there's agiant library of resources that
it's pulling from.
And so it might be able to giveyou quick, reliable answers
(04:21):
instead of you having to combthe internet and try to find
those resources on your own.
As you can already tell, AI isjust here to help.
So that's some of the ways thatAI can be used as a research
assistant or a brainstormingpartner for your podcast.
Next, I want to share how AIcan be used as a podcast
analyst.
(04:41):
So whether your podcast is newor you have an extensive back
catalog of episodes, it helps tohave a resource that can ingest
your content, analyze it, andprovide feedback quickly.
AI can identify patterns, information gaps, and possible
ways to improve your podcast.
And while this would take a lotof brain power for both you and
(05:02):
me, this is something that AIcan do super fast and
accurately.
To have AI analyze yourcontent, you will need to input
that content that you wantreviewed.
So basically, you need to copyimportant details from your
episodes, like titles,descriptions, episode duration,
published dates, and evendownload totals.
And you can enter all of thatinformation into the AI chats I
(05:25):
was talking about earlier.
When you do this, you will alsoneed to provide some parameters
so that AI can comb through thedata that you provided and make
some of those determinations.
For example, if you're askingwhat your most popular episodes
are, you will need to enter aprompt into AI to let it know
that the age of the episodes hasto be taken into consideration.
(05:46):
Older episodes have the luxuryof accumulating more downloads
since they've been available toyour listeners longer.
So AI can account for that indetermining which episodes are
the most popular.
While this may sound a littleoverwhelming, once you get the
hang of it, you'll find thatusing AI in this way can really
help you level up your podcast.
Our team walks throughstep-by-step instructions on how
(06:09):
to do this in an episode ofBuzzcast.
I'm going to link that in theshow notes below.
I recommend listening to thatepisode for a better explanation
of what's going on.
And then from there, give it atry with your podcast.
Reach out to us using FanMailto let me know how it goes.
Once you've created the dataset for your show by entering
all of that information into achat, AI can use it to match the
(06:32):
existing tone of your podcast.
So when you've outlined yourscript on your own, you can copy
and paste and submit it to AIfor adjustments.
And what AI can do is pull thatdata that you submitted and
match the overall tone of yourpodcast.
So the suggestions that you'regetting from AI tend to match up
(06:53):
with other content that you'vealready released.
Now, I want to let you know thesuggestions that AI provides
are always up to yourdiscretion.
So take them or leave them.
Never allow AI to rob you ofyour voice in your podcast.
If after all of this, AI stillsounds intimidating, first of
(07:13):
all, I understand.
And second, I have a greatoption for you.
If you're hosted here onBuzzsprout, our team has
designed a feature that will usethe power of AI, but we've made
it super simple for you to use.
Co-host AI uses the power of AIto take the content you've
recorded and create writtencontent for your episodes.
So this is where AI comes in asyour co-host to help you with
(07:37):
the automation of your podcast.
We built this feature intoBuzzSprout to simplify and
streamline your upload process.
We use AI to help give youoptions for those time-consuming
details so you can just focusmore on your episode's content.
When you upload your episodeinto BuzzSprout with co-host AI
enabled, we will startgenerating content as soon as
(07:59):
your episode is processing.
We generate episode titles, descriptions, chapter markers,
social media posts, and a fulland editable transcript.
One of the best parts is thatit's pulling directly from your
episode audio.
So the content is based on whatyou actually said in the
episode.
The content co-host AI createsdoes not have to be used
(08:22):
verbatim.
Everything can be edited, andwe make it really easy to make
changes inside of yourBuzzSprout account.
I encourage you to review andpersonalize any content the AI
gives you before publishing itand making it your own.
Since Co-Host AI has beendesigned to reduce some of the
overwhelming tasks that comewith podcasting, you can spend
(08:43):
less time on the busy work andmore time actually getting
creative with your content.
I personally use Co-Host AI forPodcasting Q&A, and it really
helps, especially if I'm in kindof a brain fog or I'm just not
feeling super creative.
It gets me started.
So I can review the episodedescription that it provides.
And then from there, I justtake it and make it my own, but
(09:06):
it at least takes on theinformation that I've already
recorded and kind of spits itback to me in a way that I can
make adjustments to and make itmy own.
