St. Louis is approximately the temperature of the sun, and the only reasonable goal is to land the plane without setting either the plane or ourselves on fire. Naturally, we immediately fail.

Things actually start suspiciously positive when the crew discovers The Rizzuto Show won the St. Louis Magazine A-List honor for Talk/News Radio Show. Nobody knew. Nobody prepared a speech. Nobody even knew when the results came out. Truly the level of professionalism you expect from an award-winning funny podcast and radio show. We celebrate by immediately combing through the other winners and finalists, congratulating friends, questioning categories and proving that even success can become an argument if you give us enough time.

Then Moon spots an expired Missouri temp tag, and that harmless observation detonates into one of the great Rizz Show debates: why is getting permanent plates such a ridiculous process? Missouri is working toward eliminating paper temp tags and changing how vehicle sales tax gets collected, which should finally make things easier. There’s just one small problem: Rafe casually admits HIS temp tags are expired.

Rafe has the paperwork. He has the money. He has the check. What he apparently does not possess is the spiritual strength required to actually finish the process. This leads to his transformation from procrastinating vehicle owner into self-appointed freedom fighter, complete with comparisons to Gandhi that Gandhi’s estate would presumably like removed from the record. According to Rafe, this isn’t laziness. It’s peaceful protest. According to everyone else in the studio: dude, go get your plates.

From there, the funny podcast portion of our alleged news operation kicks the doors completely off the hinges.

A Minnesota man allegedly decides neighborhood kids cutting across his lawn require homemade spike strips, giving us the “get off my lawn” story to end all “get off my lawn” stories. That sends the show into booby-trap law, trespassing, old farm stories and the landmark legal case of Wet Bandits v. Kevin McAllister. Please note: The Rizzuto Show is not a law firm. This paragraph alone should have made that obvious.

Then we meet a Georgia driver accused of trying to run down a jogger after she committed the unforgivable crime of saying “good morning.” Three attempts. One greeting. Apparently mornings have gotten significantly more hostile.

And somehow that STILL isn’t enough chaos for one episode.

Creep Corner arrives with the kind of characters who make you wonder why your neighborhood Facebook group suddenly feels comforting, the Town Crier of Creep Corner gets involved, and eventually we reach FULL CONTACT LEOPARDS, because nature apparently looked at everything humans were doing in this episode and said, “Fine, our turn.”

It’s celebrity news, weird news, St. Louis nonsense, ridiculous arguments, accidental confessions and the usual collection of tangents that turn a simple story into twenty minutes of grown adults questioning society. In other words, another perfectly normal episode of The Rizzuto Show.
