I Dink's missing office, half of American all with ships
and clipas, and say that's going to press play.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Today on the blog. I know it's just preseason. High
altitude baking will break you. You must watch this. Two
school districts want more of your money. Dustin Nickerson takes
out Cheyenne Olthor. REPDA is embracing real reforms. Why will
Phil Wiser tell us how much our money's won? Another
scoop on the stoop job casualty. Another stupid animal video
(00:54):
that made me laugh. A new lawsuit, a legs ski
company collusion, A handful of states may stop here around
daylight saving time. Coyote versus Acheme is a must see.
The minimum wage is going up again. Interest on the
debt now surpasses defense spending scrolling. Not all women move
on from abortion routs. Write's trolling is next level this
(01:15):
as the WNBA doesn't define a woman. Your smart pet
feeder may leave your pet hungry, parenting friends, trends that
need to die. Trump is asking the supremes to allow
the ballroom finally a more worthless degree than theater headed
to Graham Lake Beach, Watch your wallet. Sean Payton is
laying off the brake pedal for Davis. Web Sophie reminds
(01:36):
us people are good. The oak Joe needs programming. I do,
and I'll have fries with that. The nerd mashup. You
didn't know you needed someone call the tourism board. Those
are the headlines on the blog at Mandy blog dot com.
Pick tech P two a winner. I just want to
take a moment and tell you guys that a Rod
(01:57):
sent me so many good videos today that I almost
am beside myself and thank you for that.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Appreciate you, Hey, Rod, Yeah, you go on vakeage. I
build up the Hall of Fame of good video arsenal and.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Good videos, including the song the rap song. Will can
play it. It's clean. I think it is, it is.
It's clean, It's totally clean.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Let's just this is well.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Monitor, Oh dag nabbitt, hang on, I'm having trouble here.
I'm doing that. I rely do that. Hang on, hang on,
hang on, let me back it up. Okay, here we
go the Denver rap song. Ready, Ready, here we go.
This is a rap about Denver, Colorado.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Denver, Colorado is that capital of Colorado. It's the largest
city in Colorado and it was founded in eighteen fifty eight.
They have seven hundred and forty thousand residents, and they
have the Denver Public Schools that's the school district in Denver, Colorado.
And they have the Denver International Airport. The Cherry Creek
(03:03):
Shopping Center is a nice shopping center, and Interstate seventies six,
Interstate seventy, Interstate twenty five is there.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
They have the Denver Zoo, yes.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Indeed, and the Denver Botanical Gardens for any museum of transportation.
And they have Coarsefield South cle Rever two.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
And Rockey Mount Katon Lake Park.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yes, indeed, clear, I.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Think we've got it. But obviously that's our new that's
our new hit for our tourism board. If they don't
run with us. They're crazy. They're crazy, Anthony crazy.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Somebody just pointed out, Wait a minute, it's Friday, aren't
we forgetting something all together? Now? I apologize. I am discombobulated,
and I am annoyed, and I'm the whole way here.
I was trying to decide whether or not I was
(04:02):
going to talk about this, and I know I'm talking
about it. I'm talking. You got to go look at
the stuff on the blog. It's incredible, blah blah blah. Whatever.
We've got a guest coming up at twelve thirty. So
on the way in, I was listening to Jesse Kelly
last night on Freedom ninety three point seven. So when
I got in the car, Travis and Buck were on
the station and they're interviewing a guy named Jim Schwartzel
(04:24):
who was running for Congress in Florida. The only reason
I care about this is because I used to work
for Jim Schwartzel and when he rolled out his campaign video.
He owns the radio and television group that I worked
for in Fort Myers when I got my when I
first got my show, and they were horrible to work for.
(04:48):
There's no way to not there's no way to sugarcoat it.
Absolutely horrible people to work for. They dramatically and drastically
underpaid me. But you know what I did. I took
a radio station that had no listeners none. It had
so few listeners that when we used to get an
actual ratings book, and you know, we'd have those ratings
(05:10):
and somebody would have like a nine point five and
somebody have a five point two, and then our station
had so few ratings that it did not even get numbers.
It just had asterisk. Now, Chuck, who was not my
husband at the time, was in sales, and they used
to give away our radio station because it had no ratings.
Why not just giveaway the advertising. Nobody was gonna pay
for it. So through a series of different people quitting
(05:33):
and whatever, I ended up doing the morning show and
being the program director for a while for no extra money.
By the way, that's a whole other thing. So I
took that radio station with a zero dollar marketing budget,
and I built it to the top station in the
market by myself, without a single bit of help from
(05:56):
anyone in the corner office. I appeared at every event
that asked me, you guys I judged a freaking pug
contest just to get my name out there. I judged
a barbecue contest. I went all over. I spoke to
organizations that were five people. I spoke to organizations that
were five hundred people. I was everywhere. My entire life
(06:17):
was dedicated to building that radio station. And that is
why when Jim Schwartzel rolled out his campaign video, Chuck
immediately took issue because in it, in this campaign video
that he put out, he took credit for the Southwest
Florida tea Party that happened in two thousand and nine.
That event was put together entirely by my husband and me,
(06:43):
using donations from people, and we went out and got
sponsors to cover the freight on this thing. The only
thing that the Schwartzels did was not get in my way.
That was the only thing. And in his video he's like,
we put on the biggest do We put on the
tea party in two thousand and nine, and my husband
lost his mind when we saw that. But I was like, look, dude,
(07:03):
you know what, forget about it. That's not our world
out we don't it's just leave it alone. He wanted
me to hire a lawyer and sue the guy for
miss and I was like, nope, I'm sitting it out.
I'm just let it go. Let it go. And then
today today, today I heard him say on Travis and
Buck that he built the radio station they were on there. No,
(07:28):
that's the radio station I built. And I'm so mad.
I'm so incredibly mad now, And am I being petty?
Is this is this?
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Like?
Speaker 1 (07:42):
And generally speaking, I really adopt the attitude of Ronald Reagan,
like it doesn't matter who gets credit. You can get
a lot more done if you don't care who gets credit.
But you have to understand that was like five years
of my life where I was working like seventy eighty
hours a week to build their radio station, which by
(08:02):
the way, is still in the top two. It's still
incredibly successful. But anybody that's been there knows it was
built on the foundation that I built with absolutely no
help from Jim Schwortzel. None zero. As a matter of fact,
listen to this. We had an email blast that we
could send out, an email blast that I set up
that I maintained that I sent out all the emails
(08:23):
on on my last day, my last day five years
of building a radio station a number one, no bonus. Ever,
they never gave me a raise. Ever. They gave me
more jobs and no raise, but they never did anything
to show any appreciation to me in any way for
building their radio station up. And on my last day,
(08:45):
since they weren't doing anything because I was leaving Fine,
I sent on an email blast. We did a fundraiser
the last night I was in town. We did a
fundraiser for an organization. We had people come out. It
was great, it was super fun. I sent out an
email blast and my boss at the time came in
to yell it about that. I mean, just horrible people
to work for. But I was gonna let him do
(09:05):
his little race for Congress and not say anything. But
I just, man, am I being petty? Please text me
five six six nine? How am I am? I just
being really mandy? It sounds like stolen radio valor.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Oh that's so perfect.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
That's so perfect. I think I wouldn't care as much
if it honestly wasn't one of them. It is. It
is the thing that I am the most proud of
in my entire career at I mean, I've been doing this,
I've been in radio for all the two years since
nineteen ninety seven, so almost thirty years. I'm coming up
(09:46):
on thirty years in this field, and that timeframe of
what I did and what I accomplished with absolutely no
help is honestly the thing I'm most proud of in
this entire industry and my entire career. So yeah, I'm
just super ticked off about this. I'm gonna move on.
Text me if I'm being petty small or what. I
(10:06):
just need some perspective here five six six nine. Oh,
that's the common Spirit health text line. Mandy, you should
go for all World War eleven on that guy there?
You go, well, well, wow, don't you love capitalism? Or
you're joining the DSA? What does that even mean? I
(10:27):
helped build a radio station that makes a lot of money.
Why do you think you build a radio station for
your own edification? You build it to make money. And
I'm not going to start a smear campaign. I'm just
gonna tell the truth. And that was the truth. Now
moving on, I've got a guest coming up at twelve thirty,
and I realized that many of you out there probably
don't bake, and guys, I'm sorry. This is a self
(10:50):
indulgent interview. I wanted to do because one of the
things that I have struggled with the most since I
got to Colorado two things in the kitchen. One, it
took me a really long time to figure out how
to cook a really great baked potato. Okay, that's just
not a problem at sea level, that's easy. Pas and baking.
I wasn't a great baker when I got here, and
whatever skill I had just collapsed into the middle of
(11:13):
the cake. So we've got a woman coming on Sheffalers
Thompson at twelve thirty to talk about the Trucky High
Altitude Baking Club. I'm just, I'm just I'm just letting
you know, Mandy is he running for Congress? Now, yes
he is. He's in a primary with like ten other
people in southwest Florida to replace Byron Donaldson, who's likely
(11:33):
going to be the next governor of Florida anyway. So
she's coming up at twelve thirty. Now, I've got a
video on the blog today and it's this is the
kind of stuff that has to be addressed in order
for people to have real confidence in elections. Again, James O'Keefe,
you remember him, from Project Veritas. He is back with
(11:55):
his a new group, O'Keefe Media Group, and he's doing
the same kind of videos he did before. This video
is in Minnesota, and in Minnesota they have a vouch
law where you can just vouch for at least eight
other people. Oh no, they live near they're in the district. No,
(12:17):
he's he says he is. No idea needs to be shown,
No idea has to be presented as long as someone
else who is a registered voter can vouch for them.
This is the most insane thing I have ever seen
in my life. So of course James O'Keefe shows up
dressed in Muslim garb with somebody in a he job
with him and says, no, I'm gonna vouch for them.
(12:39):
It's the craziest thing you've ever seen. It's only like
ten minutes. The fact that anything like this is allowed
to exist. Now I could see. Maybe you know you've
got an elderly parent who who you know doesn't have
proper I don't know every elderly person I know has identification,
but whatever, maybe there's that person out there. Maybe you
(13:02):
could well, this is my nana. Oh, I don't know,
but eight freaking people at a time per registered voter.
I'm sure there's never any voter fraud with that. I'm
sure it's never happened. This is the kind of stuff
that makes me absolutely crazy. And this is the kind
of stuff that just absolutely undermines all of the faith
(13:24):
in elections. And what happens when we lose faith in
elections people stop voting, and then it kind of becomes
a self fulfilling prophecy because the people who have lost
faith in elections are basically going to be like, well,
I'm not going to participate, and then that leads the
bad actors to just keep winning elections, therefore justifying in
the minds of the people who say elections are rigged,
(13:44):
I'm not going to vote, that they're doing the right thing.
What's the point of voting, They're gonna win anyway. So yeah,
oh my gosh, this Texter. Do you suppose he and
Victor Marks are acquainted? That is hilarious, hilarious. That is
so funny, so funny. A lot of you are making
(14:08):
me feel better. Yes, call him out on his lies.
Talk to a lawyer. If he's lying about these things.
He will lie about anything he can to get away
with it. Do it because not because you feel petty,
but because he is lying and they did throw in
like our president. I just skipped over that. I just
super super frustrated with the whole thing. WKRP was not
(14:28):
made to make money, but the show about WKRP was,
wasn't it? M Mandy sound like an ingrate? Okay? I don't.
I don't even I I mean, usually I'm capable of
seeing where someone making an insult's coming from, but I
don't know. I don't. I got so little out of
my side of that relationship that I don't understand that
(14:51):
at all. Anyway, you should expose him like fauci. Mandy,
you're not being petty, but it's the alternative he's running against.
Isn't worth calling him out. I don't know anything about
that race. I purposely have not been like focusing on
that race because I just didn't want. I washed my
hands of it, and then today it sucked me back
(15:16):
in anyway, Mandy, completely understand the way you feel. But
if not for these ungrateful folks, you wouldn't have even
had the opportunity. That is why, that right there is
why when Chuck was so mad and wanted to do something.
I was like, eh, you know eh, because that is
a great point. I would not have this show where
(15:37):
it not for that show, God sets you up. They continue.
You took full advantage. We are here to care about
what God thinks, not when man. Thanks God, family and
others love in that order. Thank you so much. I
appreciate that. Appreciate you anyway. So he got the video,
the James Okay video on the blog to watch today. Okay,
Dustin Nickerson is a comedian who's very fun and he
(16:00):
came to Colorado and his crowd work about Colorado. It's
hysterically funny. That's on the block today. I wanted to
give you stuff to watch in case you don't want
to listen to the Broncos pregame, although why wouldn't you.
We've got Nick and Van coming up at one o'clock
to start the pregame. Kick off is at five point
thirty Anthony, five o'clock, five o'clock, five p and I'm
(16:22):
guessing that if you stop listening at five ten, all
of the starters will be out of the game.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
He'll get fifteen plays, so you know, could go a
couple drives. Hey, Yeah, matters, pay attention to yees whole
game these and.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
This is what I love. Honestly. I know this is
going to sound like I'm just blowing smoke here. I
kind of love preseason games because guys are playing their
hearts out. The guys that are third string right now,
who are trying to make the team, they are going
to play their flipping hearts out in this preseason game.
So there you go. Mandy sounds like your Florida radio
boss knows how to hire. Well, he didn't hire me,
(16:58):
that's the kicker. I got hired by another dude anyway. Anyway,
and then this when Mandy, like Elsa sayings let it go.
I tried. I tried so hard.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
I tried.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Also on the blog today, this is very interesting and
I think this, you know, I know, I think this
has been tried before. But three skiers have proposed a
class action lawsuit in Denver federal court against the four
companies that dominate American skiing. Now what they're accusing Alterra, Vale,
(17:36):
Boying Resorts, and Powder Corp. They're accusing them of colluding
on pricing. That is a really big deal. Now will
it change anything? I don't know what's happening, though, it's
the same thing that seems to be happening with so
many other products, is that we're allowing far too much consolidation,
(17:57):
far too much Consolidation's full time for some monopoly busting,
I think so. The claim says that the companies exchanged
confidential data on revenue costs and skier visits through NSAA
that's National Ski Area Association Commission reports and industry gatherings
in what plaintiffs call a coordinated price setting effort. This
(18:22):
is what you know. There's an old saying tikes get fat,
hogs get slaughtered. And after the passes, when Icon went
up to thirteen ninety nine, Epic went up to ten
eighty nine. I don't know what they are now. These
are from the twenty twenty two to twenty twenty, you know,
twenty twenty one, twenty two season. So yeah, this is
(18:43):
going to be very interesting. It's Gola goal goalasah.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
I don't know how to.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Pronounce that, g o l ja. Well, let's see how
we say that. That's fair. I'll take that, Donald, I'll
take it, Andy as I pro I'm listening today. New
intro sounds great. Hate that it's only one hour, go Broncos.
That from Tom go Broncos is correct. Also on the
(19:08):
blog today. Oh, I want to ask one thing, So,
if you're a subscriber to Mandy blog dot com, in
the next few weeks, I'm going to be sending out
a series of surveys and I really want you guys
to give me your feedback. I would really appreciate it.
I'm trying to make the blog better, trying to make it,
you know, user friendly, trying to honestly figure out ways
to monetize it without charging you guys. So look for
(19:31):
those and if you're not a subscriber, you can always
do that. If you want to give feedback on the blog,
I would appreciate it. Just go to mandyblog dot com
and hit that subscribe button. When we get back, please
indulge me for just a moment as I beg for
help when it comes to one of the most difficult
things forget climate at fourteen er, I just want to
make a chocolate cake that doesn't fall in the middle.
(19:53):
Is that too much to ask? One of the things
that I can't do well is bake. And when I
moved to high altitude, it got even worse and joining
me now is a woman who could bake very well
out at sea level as a pastry chef in Los Angeles,
and then she too moved to the mountains and discovered
that the mountains hat baking chef. Liz Thompson, welcome to
(20:15):
the show.
Speaker 6 (20:16):
Thank you, nice to have nice to be here.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
So I want to find out you decide you're going
to leave the big city, You're going to move up
to the beautiful mountains, and just what assumed that everything
would work the way it was supposed to work. What
was that first baking experience like for you? When I
realized it was not the same.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
I never knew anything about high altitude.
Speaker 7 (20:34):
And I made my shortbread cookies that I've been making
for thirty years and open the oven and they all
spread and knocked into each other, and I had no
idea what was on.
Speaker 6 (20:46):
First I thought it was the oven temperature.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
But then I realized, I'm talking to other people that
regular sea level recipes, not all of them, but most
of them need some kind of adaptation.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
So that's the journey. I went on recipe by recipe,
and how.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Many recipes have you been worked? Have you worked out
thus far?
Speaker 7 (21:04):
I've worked out about twenty but each time takes and
you could take me three to four different tries until
I get it just the way I want it.
Speaker 6 (21:11):
So what you might used to be?
Speaker 1 (21:13):
So when you talk to people, do you think most
people are like us? Like the people at high altitude?
You keep it a secret. You don't tell us how
impossible it is to cook. It's like you get down
walk what is going on.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
And it's very funny. But some of my neighbors did share.
Speaker 7 (21:27):
You know, they have trouble too with certain recipes, and
their brownies always collapse, and the cake collapses and things
are dry.
Speaker 6 (21:33):
And then I realized that unless you've lived up here for.
Speaker 7 (21:35):
A long time and you're used to living up here
and you have the recipes, you can't just take your
family your grandmother's chocolate cake and make it.
Speaker 6 (21:44):
So I learned it basically what you have to do
for most recipes.
Speaker 7 (21:47):
You have to increase the flower because you need more structure.
There's lower air pressure here, which you mean things rise
really quickly. So you put your cake in it looks
like it's rising, rising and rising, but without the additional
shugar flour, the structure hasn't set, and then it collapses,
and because there's low air pressure, you have to reduce
your leavening agents otherwise things over run. And I'll show
(22:09):
you a perfect example. So made my pound cake, made
it for years.
Speaker 6 (22:13):
Love it.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
You're looking at it yet, and let me describe it.
It's acting.
Speaker 7 (22:20):
So after several tries, I added, here's here's what it's
supposed to look like.
Speaker 6 (22:24):
It's supposed to have a nice domee and a crack
in the middle.
Speaker 7 (22:27):
So basically what I had to do is I had
to lower the amount of baking powder that I use
and increase the flour.
Speaker 6 (22:34):
But it took me a couple of times. And then
I also infuse my sugars. So I made a lavender
pound cake.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
So this is how Trucky High Altitude Baking Club came
to be.
Speaker 6 (22:45):
Why did it started?
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (22:47):
It started because I realized I wasn't the only one.
And even though I was, I had a goal of
transferring all of my recipes. All the other people said, hey,
can you look at my recipe, this is my grandmother's whatever,
and I just can't make it. And I realized that
there was really a need and that's why I started experimenting.
Speaker 6 (23:03):
And you know, effort. By effort, I got my short
bread cookies back. I got my Biscott Butiscott. It was
a very interesting journey to Scotti.
Speaker 7 (23:14):
Cookies have a tendency to spread up here just because
of the low atmosphere and the other conditions of you know,
just living in high altitude. And I experimented with butter,
and then butter and vegetable oil, and then I found
that vegetable oil one hundred percent fat works better at
high altitude because there's less spread, and also with butter,
because there's.
Speaker 6 (23:33):
Low air pressure, water evaporates.
Speaker 7 (23:36):
So by using butter, which can be up to fifteen
percent water, the water evaporates. So my piscotti kept coming
out hard as the rock. So I just realized that
the perfect combination was I just use I.
Speaker 6 (23:47):
Just use vegetable oil. I could I could talk about breads.
Should I talk about breads?
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Well, let me know.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
I want to talk about what you're doing with this information,
because this is where it gets really interesting.
Speaker 6 (23:57):
Oh okay, So I.
Speaker 7 (23:59):
Am taking I'm going recipe by recipe, and I'm documenting
my learning almost like the Julia and Julia, and I'm
blogging on it, and I'm also in the process of
writing a book explaining here's my sea level recipe, and
on the right side of the page is the high altitude,
so the reader is actually able to see the changes
that need to be made and then the scientific basis
(24:22):
for the changes, so that I'm actually teaching the reader
how to take their own sea level recipes, family recipes,
cookbooks from lives before and actually understand how they can
convert their own recipes. So I'm not just throwing recipes
at them. I'm teaching them how to learn the process
of converting the recipes themselves.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Say that for me is super interesting because off the air,
I said, Liz, I'm sure you have your Pie in
the Sky cookbook. There are certain cookbooks that everybody who
lives at il to Do have, and Pie and the
Sky will never let you down in terms of if
you make her recipes, they're always phenomenal, but they don't
teach you how to make those adjustments on your own recipes,
which is something I would like. I would like to
(25:01):
know how to go back and figure out how to
take the recipes from you know, Florida where I'm from,
I make them into recipes that I can make here
because They've been a massive failure multiple times here, so
that is what I'm looking forward to.
Speaker 7 (25:14):
Right, Like, I've had people complain a lot of times
about their brownies, and I made my recipe and it
was just dry and crackly, doesn't look very nice.
Speaker 6 (25:23):
And then I added in many many more.
Speaker 7 (25:26):
Egg yolks and it came out really nice.
Speaker 1 (25:28):
And chewy, gorgeous.
Speaker 8 (25:29):
So it's a lot of playing with the recipes and
really understanding the science behind it, which is I don't
my book will not be technical, very very user friendly
because I'm walking myself through the process.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Well, you can sign up at Trucke High Altitude Baking
Club or I also put a link on the blog
today at mandyblog dot com. She's got a group on Facebook.
I've already joined it, so I will see you there, Liz.
I'm looking forward to following along with this because I
will be buying your cookbook when it comes out for sure,
like like I'm already going to do that. If you
had it on Amazon, I would buy it right now.
Speaker 7 (26:02):
So everybody sign up Chucky High Altitude Bakingclub dot com
and I'll send you my recipes through the newsletter as
I create them.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Excellent and that's t r U c k e E
High Altitude Baking Club. And I put all of this
on the blog at dot com, Yes dot com. I

dot com. Liz, it's so nice to chat with you.
Appreciate at the time today.
Speaker 6 (26:23):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
I take care of the night day. I actually already
did send her a recipe. We're gonna be back because
we're gonna jump right into of the Day because Bronco's
pregame is taking over, and I'm certainly hoping that one
mister Nick Ferguson and one mister Ben Albright took a
rod up on the invitation to come in and play
Out of the Day. We don't know. It's been crickets. We'll
see if they're man enough.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
We still have that laugh?
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Where did that come from?
Speaker 5 (26:51):
What?
Speaker 1 (26:56):
One of my favorite videos of my daughter when she
was really little, maybe eighteen months old, her older brother
was teaching her how to do the big fake laugh.
So he would go and she would go from dead
serious too, and they're right back to dead serious.
Speaker 5 (27:11):
Well, and there's both. He has my real laugh and
then he also has my fake laugh.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
You sell those TM Century or whoever does that anymore?
There used to be a catalog of sound effects called
TM century that every radio station.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
Used with the laugh and fake laugh and all yeah,
oh oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
There you go. I took a bunch of TM century
discs when I left a former floor. They weren't using
them anymore. I didn't steal like things they were using.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Were dating ourselves right now with this.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
Oh god, oh, now, do you know what I learned
in broadcasting school? I learned how to cut tape?
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Okay. I had a conversation with somebody the.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
Other day about the struggle it was back in the day,
deciding whether to convert to blu ray or laser disc.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
I went through. Oh, and she looked at me like
she had no clue what I was talking.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Oh wow, you gotta date women who are a little older, Ben, apparently,
you know, maybe decades. It's a mazing to it. Yeah,
there you go, there you go. What are you excited
about this season? You're always the wet blanket. So if
you're excited, then I know we're onto something.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
We got to contender this year.
Speaker 6 (28:10):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
Market.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Then all right, there's and he wasn't. There's no fingers crossed.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
Nothing.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
He just said it.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
Been wrong about plenty of things in my life.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Yeah, but not this, not this, not now.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
One time I thought it was wrong, I turned out
it was a mistaken No.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
I actually sent an email. You know, I don't ask
for a lot of Broncos tickets. Frankly, it's just so
many people that I don't that part of it. I
love going to the game, I just don't love the
process of going to the game and leaving the game.
All right, does that make sense?
Speaker 3 (28:39):
I see yes, But I get there way earlier than
everybody else.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
I know. I just it stresses me. Anyway, that's neither
here or there. I sent an email to our Boston
I said, hey, I'd love to go to this game,
and I think we're going to be really good. So
I want to ask for tickets now it's not until November,
and he was like, no problem, take care of it,
got you covered. So I am going to the Chef's game.
I'll be going to see the chefs on I believe
No Rember.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
Yes, that it would be that should be a good game.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
But I'm excited about this and like the the the
the anticipation is palpable.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
I I am this is they've got high hopes. They
brought most of the band back.
Speaker 5 (29:15):
John Frankly Myers course moved on, but they've got guys
that replaced him that might actually make them, I think
better at least be a better fit. And then you
know the people they've added, Danda Jeleen Waddle and he's he's
looked really, really good out there, and so that's that's
one of those things. I'm looking at this thing and
I'm like, man, you know, I've been to a lot
of training camps, seeing a lot of football teams. This
team looks like a contenter. Matter to that point, I
(29:35):
had a coach call me in the middle of a sales.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Meeting earlier today. I answered the phone and he.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
Was talking about it looks like the worst team he's
ever seen. What. Yes, I just like, we practiced against
them joint practice all week. This might be an epically
bad football team. This team might be the worst football
team of all. For another team that is practicing against
also another team they'll be playing at the same time
(30:00):
that we're playing today. And I think people can figure
out a which coach I'm talking about it be which
the long time listeners will able to figure out which
coach and which.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Team we're you're order being accused of stolen laughter. Now
this taxter said that that is from Gooston Maverick movie.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
No, that's that's actually both of those were actually me.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
Oh look There'snick Ferguson.
Speaker 5 (30:19):
You know, you know these you know are exactly you
know these devas are they show up, they show.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
He's usually wearing the sunglasses when he strolls right, so.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
You can't closing off to look him in the eyes
every show.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Well, I mean, don't make eye contact, right, just come
in here with glasses on.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
You have to.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
You have to walked in this. I mean it's not
like a little take them off, though, you do take
them off. I didn't say you didn't take them off.
Speaker 5 (30:40):
I strolled in with him first year. I uh, I
knew him. He made me call them mister Ferguson. I
had to call him mister Ferguson.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Was Nicholas like full like hard as well, And I
guess sir Ferguson is just for me, right, that's just
Ferguson's time for the most exciting segment on the radio.
It's gone.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
The world.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Somebody watch World Cup somebody watch World Cup? Okay, now,
what is our dad joke of the day? Please? Anthony? Uh?
Speaker 3 (31:14):
Why can you not watch television with your dog?
Speaker 1 (31:18):
You not watched because he always puts it on pause.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
It won't stop pressing pause.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Okay, so good at dad jokes, well done, not even
a dad. What is the word of the day please?
Speaker 3 (31:30):
It is an adjective.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Give oh, that's It means that you don't have a
lot going on and brain. It's kind of empty headed, dumb.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Lack of thought, intelligence or substance.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Anyway, Today's trivia question. What animal creates a nest known
as a dre? I'm going to see a turn. I'm
going to see a turn. Don't they build nests on
the side of hills or something out of mud or something?
You say, a turn or turn?
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Wait?
Speaker 1 (31:56):
What what animal? Oh? Yeah, creates a nest known as
a dre.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
I know the answer to this one because you just
looked it up. Yeah, Google figure. More than welcome to
look at my screen.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
It is it is a squirrel? Oh, squirrel, group of squirrels.
A group of squirrels, by the way, called a dre
and they altered the spelling in a nod to their
nests because dra d r A Y d r E
Y is the nest. A Y is the squirrels.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
Dr E is the rapper.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
Yes, they forgot about drer up the text line.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Here Ferguson Ben Albright. There we go. What is our
Jeopardy category?
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Quick records Mandy seventy five and thirty six, Ben two
and five, Nick and two.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
I will say, however, and this is a p s A.
I always picked the category completely at random. There's never
a hedge for the guest category is also on the
football team random, Okay, I'm sure idiomatically it follows at wits.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
What is a tight end?
Speaker 2 (33:02):
I was looking for just end deodorant with an extreme
fresh version. Also on the football team.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
Many right guard is good god.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Another name for the economy section of the airplane. Oh
my word, check check are your things on? Apparently the
part of a stereo system that gets the electrical signals
and converts them so you can listen.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Also on the football team, what's the receiver that?
Speaker 1 (33:33):
And just get the category?
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Yeah? I mean I kept repeating it.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
If only I kept repeating the category also on the
football team British term for a gambler.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
Then then what is a punter? And it doesn't matter
because many.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Way guys he literally helped gambling question. They gave it
on a t ball, they put it on ball stand,
and you guys just stood there and.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Looked at it. Now in the record books, should that
count as two wins? No, just for you, mammy, seventy
five to seventy six. Nick, oh, and I like to.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
I like to I want to sweep by getting the
degenerate question.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Sure, sure, yeah, huh okay. Anyway, these two guys know
way more about the Broncos than they know about Jeopardy categories.
And they're going to talk for the next hour as
we wrap up to kick off at five o'clock the beginning.
I know it's pre season.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
I think we need to move it to five oh
one in respect for Jan Daniels.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
I think we need by the way, the five guys
meaning that you said was absolutely gold, That was gold, Anthony,
the four guys what he quotes?
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Do you know the student Daniels thing.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
No, he's super mad about, uh, his college for giving
his number away to another player, and so he's like, they.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Can't use my likeness anymore.
Speaker 5 (34:43):
And all this kind of stuff is neverth five and
so one of the memes Anthony sent was that, out
of respect, five guys is now calling themselves four guys way,
no longer selling the five dollars foot long stub hub,
no longer selling tickets, and increments of five uh.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
The memes have been glorious, so I said, andras fan
is now behalf.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
I suggested, Hey, I think we should move kick off
to five oh one and respect for Jade and Daniels, we'll.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Just let that joke sit there. We'll make way as
the pregame comes up for the pre preseason. I'm excited.
It's gonna be a great y'all. I'll talk to you
guys on Monday.
