Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time. It is time to tell you about my
life changing experience today. So I would say, on and
off my entire life, I've had problems with my ears,
so I used to I used to bud. You know
how you put the thing that it's not supposed to do,
no right, and but you're not supposed to do it

(00:21):
because it can damage your ear canap and it actually
pushes everything in. Now, when I was in Uni, I
had to go to the doctors once because the tip
of the cotton wool bud came off in my ear,
so the top of it had come off and I
could not get it out. How did you what? I
really went in there anyway. The doctor said to me,

(00:44):
you've got to stop butdding because this is not this
is not good and it's so close to your ear drum.
If you do I literally could have had to have
gone to go and get an operation to get it
out of my ear. Right. Oh yeah, I really went anyway, yea,
So are you funny? For a friend? By myself, it

(01:10):
is the time to it is try out new things
in it anyway. So because we wear massive headphones every afternoon,
I have headphones that I wear at home it's always
it's so my ears are really bad, right. So the
last month, the right ear has been completely blocked. But
it's been funny for us, hilarious to everyone here or

(01:34):
even like people would walk in the studio and start
talking and you would have no idea because they walked in.
Producer walked in and was standing next to me out
of my peripheral, telling a full story and I'm just
sitting there not even knowing she was there, so rude
laugh at Ali's story and I was like, what who
al was he? Anyway, So yesterday and you have the morning,

(02:00):
I was hosting a function and I had to say
to the guys, can you tell me if the microphone's
even on? Because I can't. I can't, I don't know,
and he's like, which year is it? Knowing I'm not
telling you that because I was. It's completely blocked, right.
So I booked in to get my ears clean to
that was it. There was two options, that's hard and radio.
So I went there today and oh my I can

(02:24):
hear colors. I am so it is so clear. I
can hear your house in Benora. Oh yep, but just
go home. It is amazing. So they have a little
camera that they put in there as well as this.
This is in Ashmore, so they have this little camera
that they put in there so you can see everything.

(02:47):
Was there any other buds in there? Well? That was
the thing. I said, Is there anything? And I said,
have you ever found anything in there? She says, yet,
not here in Australia, but in New Zealand I found
a cockroach in a woman's ear. Oh. So she did
the left and she's like, so this isn't the blocked one.

(03:08):
And I was like, what do you mean? And she's like,
this is really bad, and I went she goes, you've
got very narrow canals. Well, thank you, it's the only
narrow thing I have in my own child body. Thank you.
I didn't think anyone would I didn't think anyone would care.
At least five boys he did it. Anyway. So she

(03:31):
did the left and that was fine, and the right
ear is the bad one. Right, So I was like, okay, good,
Like I said, have you got a skip? And she
just she goes does she get recording on it? I
don't know if it's recorded, but oh my god it seriously.

(03:52):
I walked out of there and I was like, what
is that and it's all these noises I have not
been able to hear. I can you want to do it?
I do want to do it. I want to do it. Oh,
it's seriously like like I got here to work and
I was like, where's the radio on? It's on the
whole time, but I had no idea We're going on

(04:15):
for a while fifteen ye whereabouts? And what are they called?
It's on Ashwell Road. I'll get them. I'll get the
details for you. Yeah, I'm going there. I'm going to
pug In next week. It's oh my god. I went
to It's Cold straight after. You're still talking about it.
That's all right, it's probably finished at seven, don't But anyway,
I went to Cold straight after. I walked past the

(04:35):
hairdressers on the way there and it was like, and
I've got what is that is the hair dryers in
the in the actual hairdressers And I was like fifteen games. Yeah,
I was like wow, time with and

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
