We're about to turn your knicker drawer into a beauty salon and completely flip everything you thought you knew about blush because apparently, we've all been doing it wrong this whole time.

First up: using a G-string to create perfect heatless curls - yes, you read that right. While everyone's been wrapping their hair around socks and silk scrunchies, this viral hack takes things to a whole new level. We're testing whether your underwear drawer might just hold the secret to salon-worthy waves.

Then, we're tackling the blush placement technique that's got everyone questioning everything they thought they knew about makeup. Forget the apples of your cheeks - this method involves strategic finger measurements and placement that promises to lift and sculpt your face in ways traditional blush application never could.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
On Makeup is my Therapy.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I'm obsessed and I don't even feel guilty about it. Hello,
and welcome to you Beauty, the daily podcast for your Face.
I am Sarah Marie Fard and this is tried and Tested.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
And this is my gorgeous co host, Olivia James. And
this is tried and tested the show where we test hacks,
treatments and products so you don't have to unless they're
really worth it. So today I'm going to take you
through a little hack that I actually did last night.
I always seem to do hacks that make me feel defeated,

(00:57):
and I wish I could tell you this was different,
but it's not.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Is this going to be a recreation of the eyelash
upside down curl, a hack that almost had you fetal
in a corner?

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yeah, it's not dissimilar, And it's to do with my
hair testing, testing one to or three did it work?
So I was talking to our producers and they sent
me a video where you can do heatless curls overnight
by putting a pair of underwear on your head.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Oh. The only person I know that's used underwearing their
hair and it's not for heatless curls was Pamela Anderson.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yes, and I did that exact hack too. We can like,
we can cut to that. I did that and it
went viral because.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
People said, so, she's amazing, she's so obsessed with her Yeah,
she's like the coolest person in the world.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
But people got angry at me because I thought I
was using a G string and apparently it wasn't. It
was too thick. I was like, well, what's a G string? Then? Anyway,
I can show you that later, okay, but this hack,
you know, in theory, I was quite interested in it.
I was like, okay, let's see it won't damage my hair.
I don't have to use heat protecting. It can just
do it overnight, simple, right. I have a little video
that I'll show you so you can get a little

(02:07):
bit of a visualization on what I looked. Okay, so
this is what I looked like putting it on. So
what you want to do, I'll just let you watch.
I'll let you watch so you put oh.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Yeah, yeah, this was about it thirty all right, So
You've got the underwear on your head like you're a superhero.
Let's like a cap like it got handies. Captain on
about you've got undies on your head?

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Are they Calvin Kleiney's Yeah they are.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Girl, what a bit fancy clean underwear of course, Although
if you're like stranded and you really want to add
some volume into your hair.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Babe, no one needs holling that much.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
No one needs that much. That would have insane anyway. Okay,
so this video goes for a while, but I'm just
going to skip through. Basically, you just twist you love
that you're in your robe. Yeah, I know. I'm just
getting ready to love that robe.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
If anything.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Oh it's a Homi robe. It's like, that's my favorite robe.
My friend just got it for my birthday. It's the
best thing. Yeah, it's incredible. Room. So I will actually
run you guys through how to actually do it, but
I just wanted.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
To give you a visualization on what I'm looking at. Guys,
you need to see this on our YouTube. Do you
have to watch this episode?

Speaker 1 (03:23):
It's quite great.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
This is clicking on the show note link. Just stop
listening now, just click on the show link. And doesn't
watch it was hilarious. Multiple times.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
I looked at the camera and when like I did
like breaths, and this is going to be public. I
imagine like my grandparents seeing that because they follow you, beauty,
they follow all of it. And I was like, yeah,
they're gonna call me about this one.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
But what your grandparents' needs Petra and Alan Hi, Petra
and Alan thinks you'll be very proud of.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Your grandson is today. I promise I can explain. I
have a good explanation and I'm getting paid to do it.
They'll be happy with that. Yes, yeah, yeah, that always
makes them happy.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Okay, So I'm going to talk you through the actual
steps in which you have to do to get this
hack going and have it work. All right, you need
three things. You need a clean pair of underwear, clean everyone.
You need a scrunchy or a hair tie. And then
you need a silk bonnet or a silk scarf.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
That's already so many things.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
It is a lot of things.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Got a silk bonnet or a silk scarf? Why do
you have to use? Sure?

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Okay, but it will make sense sense, I promise. So
what you can't do you get your pair of underwear.
It can be a G string, it can be a
normal pair of underwear, but usually your butt's bigger than
your head.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
So I was thinking, I don't know if I've got
andies small enough to fit my head.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yeah? No, no, no, So what happened like.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
High waisted for me? I saw ad of myself recently
and I was leaning in to carry the kids, and
I have high waisted jeans on right, they're high waisted,
and my undies were sticking on stop like this eye.
I was like, whoa, I didn't new, mate, I need
to update.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
That for this. It's gonna go down to my chin.
That's so funny. No, okay, so but you could use
those if you want it. You want to turn the
underwear back to front and then hold it in front
of your face and put it on your head. So
the front of the under like what.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
The front of the crotch part? Is that the front
where your forehead is mean?

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Okay, absolutely, So you put it on and you've got
the front sitting at the front right, and then just
above your forehead is where you want the underwear to start.
So you don't want it to be too low because
that's something that you can get a bit mixed into,
which I experienced last night, is that it can go
down to your eyebrows, but you need to make sure
it's just on your hairline, right, that's important. And then

(05:43):
you want the crotch part going from ear to ear
so you can twist theoretically, okay.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Because like, yeah, you were twirling your hair and then
wrapping it around like you know that whole part like
the waistband, you're wrapping it around. You're toiling it and
then wrapping it around.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Yeah, so that's where it will get. So once you've
got it on your head, it will, like I said,
be a bit loose. So you get your hair tied
and you pull it and you wrap the hair tie
around the back and you tie it so it's tight
on the head so you can can't That makes sense, Okay,
that makes sense. It's any shaped head, big or small.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
That's what guide here. Okay, any shaped head, yes, okay.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
So step three you have your hair normally, how you
split it? I go on the middle part. That's quite
difficult for me with a new fringe at the moment,
I'm struggling to figure out where to part my hair.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Very hard I think if you pull your hair forward
your fringe.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Oh god, I'm a bit scared to do that, but
you might have to blow dry.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
You might have to like just have like two centimeters
back fringe and then middle split.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Right, Yeah, that's sure. I haven't thought about that anyway.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
I mean, not like you can curl it into the fringe.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
So but that's okay. The underwear was hot, So I'm
gonna just actually tell you. So you split your hair
into two sections one side, like you've got two parts
on each side, and then you take a small piece
of hair at the front. I twist to it because
it was easier to loop it through the underwear because
you'll be bringing it up and you go through the

(07:15):
underwear and down and then like a braid, you're gonna
grab more hair and do it again, connect it all.
So you want to be kind of like braiding it
through the underwear, and you're going to do that until
it's done on one side and the other side as well. Okay, okay,
so then that's pretty much it. Right, You're done. Okay then,

(07:35):
because you have to sleep overnight with it, that's where
your silk bonnet or your scarf comes in. Okay, so
you put I had a bonnet. So I put the
bonnet on and crossed my fingers and went sea. In
the morning, I did wake up with a bonnet off
my head, so I was like, I obviously moved around
a lot, like got hot or something, even though it's freezing.

(07:57):
So after you sleep in it overnight, you wake up,
and I'm going to show you what it looked like
when I woke up. Okay, after all that effort, it
should have worked. Yeah, So this is how I looked
with the bonnet on, and then you look hopeful. I
was hopeful. I was feeling like this could work.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Anyway, this is how I look. Describe that to me disheveled.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
One word, thank you giving you one word disheveled.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I did, and that's how I felt. Although, okay, look
how it immediately comes out.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
You must move around. I actually think I do. The
fact that you don't have the bonno on anymore, and
your hair was like disheveled, like you had been like up, down, left, right,
you sleep like my two year old.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
I think I actually do. The bottom part of your
hair actually is quite curled, isn't it. Yeah, So when
I initially pulled it out. The front pieces look quite
nicely curled, yes, and I was quite hopeful, okay. And
then as I started playing around with it, which you
have to, yes, of course, I realized it's given me volume.

(09:05):
It's given me a nice little wave in the front. Yes,
the rest of the head nothing.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
So oh, how disappointing because look at the front.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah, the front looks okay. It's added to like if.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
You if you didn't have the fringe, yes, and you
flipped your hair, yeah, and it was like longer in
that sense. The front actually looks it looks okay, right, Yeah,
it looks okay enough, like but you need to flip
that like kind of a ja. But the back didn't
do anything.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Not really okay, the back didn't get away with anything,
but that that you bring that up. Like the hair
length I think really matters. I think if you've got
medium to short hair, give this one a miss. If
you've got nice, like kind of bluntly cut long hair, yeah,
this could be a game changer because you've just got
a lot more hair to work with. And if you
don't have layers like I have layers, so I couldn't

(09:52):
like weave it all through but overall it, I'm gonna
give it a fail, like it didn't work for me. Yeah,
but I also understand that I could be the problem.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
If you were to wrap your hair and put it
in a high bun, yes, sleep in it.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Sometimes I do that just so that, like if I
need to rush out, it's not like full done. But yeah,
how do these people do it where they've got these
like heatless roles. They take it out and their hair's
this bouncy dry. I don't believe them.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
I think we're all getting gas lit, Like I honestly believe.
I was looking at the videos. I went and looked
at videos this morning of these girls and I was like,
you haven't slept in that. Yeah, I don't believe you. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Yeah, people doing it on the plane and then they
take it off when they're getting off the plane.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
I might prove it to me like it's incredible.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah on Instagram.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
I know it looks beautiful and it tricks me. I
look at me, look at you. Ended up with underwear
on my.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Head last night, man, I mean, it's not one you'd
have to be sleeping by yourself doing this.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Well, yeah, Romance, we're sleeping in your underwear in your head, like, wow.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
That's so funny. That's so funny, dat night. I should
try that. I should try that, genuine I'm going to
try that. Yeah, I mean, and I'm just like just
for work.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Sorry, Well you'll know if they're a keeper. Yeah, like
if they hang around after that and be like all right,
good night.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Yeah you're great. But overall it is a fail. Damn it.
But did not work.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
All right, we're back and it's my turn. Okay, it
is my turn.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
What did you get up here?

Speaker 2 (11:39):
So? I saw this video again, hung in everything. I
don't know why I even bother saying it or we
all see this on Instagram. Yeah, well TikTok, and that's
why we're trying it. That's what I tried and tested
was born. So the video is this girl roughly putting
on like cream blush okay, being like, it doesn't work
like this very well. But if you get the blush

(12:00):
and put it on the back of your yeah yeah,
smush your hands together, both backs of your hand and
then press on your cheekbones, then it's gonna be easier
to apply. And then you just use your hands to
like blend it if you need.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
To interesting I did this. Yeah, we'll play the video
so you can see I'm interested.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
I was actually very interested too, because you know, it's
kind of like an exaggerated video. Yeah, Like you should
put it on the back of your hands, between your
knuckle and your wrist.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
Interesting, on the top of your hand. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Wow, so you get your cream blush, put it on
that section of your hand.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
That's a beautiful color.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Thank you very much. We'll put on the show notes
and you like massage it between the other part of
your hand the same spot. Then on your cheekbones where
you would normally put blush nice and high, so it's
not like dragging press it like a stamp stamp, right.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
And it's pretty much the perfect shape, like the amount
of where you'd want the blush to be as well.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Yeah, just blend it a little bit with your hand.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
And you want your thumb to almost be like at
the top of your ear.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Yeah, so really think your upper cheek bones. So if
you're looking forward where the people of your eyes don't
go further down than that, you're kind of going back
up above your ears sort of at an angle. Yeah,
and you're putting the blush on and then just pressing
it with your hands.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
It's completely lifted your face. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Can I just say I put a little bit on
my nose there, because she puts a bit on her nose.
I'm not a blush on the nose person. Yeah myself. Yeah,
I put just a tiny bit just to copy what
she did on the video.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Yeah, but I mean, well that looks quite cute. Yeah,
just a little bit.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Can I just say, oh my god, like you see
my face in this video, genuinely shocked. It was the
perfect amount of cream blush.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
And that's a strong blush pigment that I've got, so
the perfect amount of cream blush.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
Look at my face.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
I'm so light.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
No, I didn't think about it like that, because it
is controlling the amount of blush that you're actually putting on. Yes,
And it's easy to blend.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
It was the perfect amount to blend out quickly.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
That's so good.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
And it was it's easy to get it on the
right spot of my cheek. And I was skeptical because
the way this person on Instagram did it was so
exaggerated in the beginning, like she got the cream stick
put it on her cheeks and was like pressing it
up near her eyes and like, brain, no, one's doing
their blush like that. It's ridiculous. And then gets the

(14:29):
blush and puts it on and you know, and I
was like, is this just gonna be bs? I'm going
to try it anyway.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Oh my god, it was worth it.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
It's a nail. You're glowing.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
It's a nail.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
If I'm going to do cream like, I did the
cream blush today with my brush because I wanted to
compare it to what I did with my hand yesterday.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
It's so funny. You look like quite like chiseled almost
in the way that it lifts your face if.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
You apply in the correct spot. Was the perfect amount.
I have to say, when you're applying the blush on
your hand, Yeah, it can't be in a circle. No,
it has to be like two centimeters width about like
five centimeter long. You're like, you know, you're putting it

(15:18):
long wise because you're putting it up on your cheek.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Boats.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
I has to press like a long stamping.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
You can't just be in one spot.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
And I blended it with my hands really easy.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
It was perfect and it was the perfect.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Amount of blush for the day.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
It actually was a nail. It is the most surprising
now I've had. And it was quick and literally when
put the blush in my hand, rubbed my hands together,
pressed it on my cheek.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Yeah, patted it a little.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Bit, just to blend it with my hand.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Done, and you think you'll do it again, I'll.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Do it again. Yeah, yeah, I would not worry about. Oh,
if I'm traveling, I need to bring my brush for
my cream blush.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
You've got your hand, I.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Could use my hand. Yeah, it was really good.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
I love this. I'm going to try this because that's perfect.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
I think you could do it with any blush. Yeah,
any cream blush, any cream lush.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
But yeah, that's perfect. Yeah, you go better than mine. Dude.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
It was so much easier than mors.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Like, it was faster for me to do this blush
than talk about it.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
I need to pick better.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Yours was like traumatizing and I was really hoping yours
really worked for you.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
I know, But that's all right, all for the story.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
I know it comes out with the story for it. Well. Yeah,
so the blush I used is Flaviido. Actually, let me
get the name hold on. I've got a reel. I
posted a reel on this blush, that's how much I
loved it. It's a perfect like little pinky it is.
It's the colour's name is Rose, so fluviido blush in

(16:50):
Rose amazing. I actually really love their blush. Another cream
blush that I absolutely love that I've been using lately
is the young Blood Cosmetics cream blush. Love the young Blood.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
I've never used theirs.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
They have an awesome packaging and like the lid is
like a magnet down.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah really really, it's like a amazing hood of beauty.
Have also some really lovely cream blushes at the moment,
and she's got like a whole technique on how to
apply it. I mean great blushes. Okay, there's so many
good cream blushes. Senty have great cream blushes.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
I love rare beauties and I also really do like
makeup by Maria's blushes.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Make up by Maria and rare beauty. You know who's
got a really good one? Oh?

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Elf?

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Oh yes, oh I've got one in my bag, you do, Elf,
Because manyis cream blushes and so affordable to it and
so affordable, very pigmented.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Actually, I was just at an event with them, and
they taught me how to really use it. And you
do not need a lot, you just know a little bit.
And at last year Forever ELF in general have a
lot of really cool ones. Yeah they do.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, so lots of cream blushes that you
can use. I have to say though, like you know,
I think a cream blush with a glow is always lovely, good.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
One for winter.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
Yes, there's some recommendations for you. Love it. Thank you
my hack.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
