Thanksgiving be cheaper this year than last year? The President
says yes, But is he right? We're going to dive
into that before seven to twenty plus. President Trump is
new reunt of pardons, which includes some notable names. We'll

(00:22):
talk to our White House correspondent John Decker about that
at around seven forty seven. Time down for today's soap

Good morning, Chris, Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Four people were killed in a crash in Ebors City
in Tampa early Saturday, and now at Dade's City man
is facing eight felony charges. This started around twelve forty am.
Police air units saw two vehicles racing on Hillsboro Avenue.
They were heading towards the Interstate I two seventy Now
one of the vehicles broke off while the other headed

(01:03):
onto the interstate. So the vehicle exiited in the downtown
area and the Florida Highway Patrol tried to do a
traffic stop, but that failed. They then got closer to
the car did the pit maneuver. That was unable to
stop the speeding car, so it headed down Seventh Avenue,
which of course goes right through the heart of Ebors

(01:23):
entertainment district, and it crashed into the Bradley's Lgbtqbar, plowing
through more than a dozen people who were standing outside.
Three victims died at the scene, then a fourth died
at the hospital.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Obviously, just about everybody in Tampa Bay area understands that
when you've got a speeding car going into Seventh Avenue
and that area of Ebor City, you've got big problems
on your hands. For those listening in South Florida, just
picture Ebor City as and Seventh Avenue in particular, a
block of lots of bars, restaurants, people enjoying themselves on

(01:58):
the weekends. You've got people walking around on the sidewalks
outside these establishments, hanging out outside the establishment. So you've
got big, big crowds. It's probably one of, if not
the worst block in all of the Tampa Bay area
to have a speeding car go down, and unfortunately, you

(02:21):
had a number of people dead, a lot of people injured.
Coworker of ours was injured, luckily minor injuries, but pretty
shaken up.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
But he was standing right there when it all happened
and jumped out of the way. Thankfully, he did end
up with a bruise and he was definitely really shaken
up about it.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Yeah, so you had twelve forty am. You have a
police air unit spots a car driving fast and recklessly,
apparently racing. Then you have officers and troopers. They locate it,
they try to stop it, not able to and once
they see the vehicle heading towards We're City and Seventh Avenue,

(03:01):
they back off, hoping that then the vehicle will slow down.
That was not the case, And there is some aerial
footage where you could see the vehicles racing, see how
fast they're going, and then there is footage of the
car going into the crowd. Now that the video stops
right at the moment of impact blurs out the people there,

(03:21):
but you can obviously get a sense.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
You can see you can see just how many people
were standing right there and how many people Yeah, we're
right in the line of that car.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
And initially, you know, you see something like that, a
car plowing through a group of people. Then you hear
that the establishment that it hit is an LGBTQ establishment.
There were lots of questions what happened here. This seems
to be a situation where you just had some jerk
racing going way too fast, really reckless. Not the first

(03:50):
time cited for going ninety nine miles per hour and
I seventy five less than two months ago, So it
seems to be a habit with this person. And it
also brings up a year ago the mass shooting in
Ybore City, and it reminded me of that tragic situation
along Bay Shore Boulevard a couple of years ago where

(04:10):
you had these two teens racing and one of them
plowed right into a mother who was walking with the
stroller and her young child, and both of them died.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
I mean, these.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Races in areas that are crowded, it's hard to wrap
your head around what We.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Have the new super speeder law to prevent this type
of thing from happening.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Well, we had the first court appearance and he's held
without bond. We have another hearing on Thursday.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
And another tragedy, this time out of Miami Dade County.
A sheriff's deputy is dead and his suspected killer turned
the gun, the deputy's gun on himself. He's been identified
as twenty one year old Stephen Rustrian. Sheriff Rosie Cordero
STATS last week said that the deputy, twenty seven year
old Devin had Amio, was shot while attending to a

(04:58):
traffic incident. She was very emotional. Samaritans called nine one one,
and deputies responded to provide first aid.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
And they worked him and.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
So he was transported here to this hospital and he
succumbed to his injuries. A friend of the accused killer
did speak out with an altered voice, his name Isaac,
saying that Rustrian was a military veteran with PTSD. He
was just trying to deal with his mental health issues,

(05:32):
deal with anxiety with panic disorders, who was on medication.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Knowing him, I see him panicking and I see him struggling.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
There was a verbal altercation, it turned physical then Rustrian,
according to the sheriff grabbed the deputy's gun, shot him
multiple times, went over to his car, and then ended
his own life. And again, this is an active investigation.
Now the department is reeling. We've got two families dealing
with tragedies and funeral arrange being made for both, including

(06:02):
the deputy who was shot in the line of duty.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yeah, you got this twenty seven year old deputy thinks
he's responding to just routine minor crash and things escally quickly.
There's still a lot that we don't know exactly, you know,
how this whole thing unfolded. We know that a verbal
dispute turned physical and then the suspect got the deputy's firearm,
killed him with it, and then killed himself with it.

(06:26):
There are some witnesses who called nineber one. There was
a second person from the crash who was detained but
then later released, not facing any charges. But you wonder
what that person saw and experienced and what they've relayed
to investigators. But the end of the day, you know,
our thoughts are with the Miami Dade Sheriff's Office and

(06:47):
this deputies family. Just tragic
