What’s Happening This Weekend:

• One Boston Day Cleanup: Join the citywide effort at Franklin Park Playstead (Pierpont Road) this Saturday at 9:00 AM. Help beautify the park and connect with your neighbors. Sign up at boston.gov/onebostonday.

• Youth Job Fair: Over 200 employers and thousands of job opportunities are waiting at the Reggie Lewis Center from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Open to ages 14–24, featuring free food, raffles, and on-the-spot resume help.

• 26 True Marathon: Celebrate the heart of the city with the 26 True run starting in Roxbury at Malcolm X Blvd and Dale St, followed by a huge block party.

• Boston Family Day: Kicking off April break with free passes to the ICA, Museum of Science, Mass Art, and more for Boston families. Register at boston.gov for your guest passes.

happening in Boston.

but we'll take it and no snow. What's going on?
Lot going on in Boston this weekend, obviously Marathon weekend.

about One Boston Daytalia, what up?

Hello everyone?

Hello, So glad to be back here again with another
opportunity for community for connection. So I wanted to extend
an invitation for anybody that is looking to do something
meaningful this Saturday morning for One Boston Day. We have
done this cleanup as a way of unifying our communities
and giving back to one of our most emblematic parks

in the city. So the Mayor Office of Civic Organizing
is inviting you all for a cleanup happening this Saturday morning,
April eighteenth and nine am at Franklin Park Place set.
We're going to be meeting up at the Place Stead
and on Peer Point Road at nine am, So anybody
that wants to come, please come. If you want to
sign up for the cleanup, you can go on Boston

see the link to sign up. So I hope to
see everybody there. We usually have one hundred volunteers the
great morning. The weather is looking like it's going to
be great, so I really hope that we get a
big turnout.

I saw last time. Man, everyone was just in a
good vibe. Everyone's just smiling. It's it's just a good,
feel good day with everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Right, you know, we get together as community. The park
is definitely big park, so we need all hands on deck.
We have families, we have kids, we have older residents.
So it's just a great day to spend it out
in community and in support of a great cause. And
you know, get back, get back, Well, we're all about
giving back.

I love that all Right. One Boston Day is going
down this Saturday, nine o'clock Franklin Park, right.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yes, Franklin Park at the Place Set. That's going to
be the meeting. All the detail that on the website,
so if anybody has a question, they can email us

And do you have to be from that area or
can you come from anywhere?

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Oh have people.

Coming from East Boston, from Metapam, from Westy like we
have people from all over the city. Which is a
great way to connect with the other folks that you
perhaps so.

Now because you know, Asha is really Roxbury and if
it doesn't include Roxbury, she's like, nah, I hope.

To see this.

This is an opportunity for all the communities to come together.

Just bring your friends and family.

We give the supplies and everything else.

So our next guest is Allison Verniery. Sorry if I'm
butchering your name. Who's the executive director of Office of
Youth Employement an Opportunity. Ji'll be talking about the job
fair that's happened atra Je Lewis. I think that's the
first time I met you the JIP have Doug and
now look at us being friends and you know aurlive
and whatnot.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
That was a great event. Connection Alison. What's up. How
are you doing?

Speaker 3 (03:14):
I'm great, Thank you for having me today.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
I'm so excited to be here to talk about the
job fair.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
So if you're not going to one Boston Day.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
On Saturday, and or if you've got a teenager, or
if you are a teenager, you should be at the
Reggie Lewis. We're hosting the biggest youth events of the year.
It's going to run from ten am to five pm.
But the really important thing for families to know for
any young person who wants a job, and that's young
people ages fourteen to twenty four can come find jobs.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
We're going to have thousands of jobs opportunities.

Speaker 5 (03:45):
We're going to have over two hundred employer and resource
partners there. There's also going to be free food for
all young people so after you do all your networking,
all your employment application, that you can go in and
get some cool food from different community vendors. But the
really important thing is people have to sign up either
for the morning wave or for the afternoon wave, so
we know when you're coming. So you can sign up

(04:06):
and come between ten am and one pm, or you
can come between two and five pm, so that we
can best serve you both times.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Are going to have the same services, the same employers.
You'll get the same value.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
We've got some cool pro teams, raffle tickets, stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
But really, if you're coming, you've got to be coming
for a job. Be ready to engage with those employers.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
Bring a resume if you have one, but if you
don't have one, we can help you create one on
the spots.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
And that's really it.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
We just want to see a lot of young people
this Saturday to find their summer job.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
All Listen. When I came out to that, it was
so refreshing to see all these kids, because you know,
you live in a world where you think people are
the young kids are only going and trying to make
money off of TikTok and stuff like that, and there's
thousands of kids, and you know, it was so refreshing
to see that they want those jobs, you know, or
any kind of jobs. There's tech jobs there. I saw
the Celtics people there, Red Sox was there talking about

(04:59):
broadcasts or even behind the scenes. So it was a
great event. Like I get goosebumps even thinking about being
with you guys that day. So great job with that
because I was not expecting that and shot us all
the kids that pulled up to that they are motivated.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
I agree with you. I think there's a misconception sometime.
Right now.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
We've got four thousand young people signed up for Saturday,
so it's going to be a big crowd. And young
people are motivated. They want income, they want something productive
to do, they want to hone in on their skills.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
So we're excited to be their supporter.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
I love that, and I like how you guys have
the two separate breaksdown because then you can focus on
a good group instead of all of them at the
same time, because that's a lot of kids exactly.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
That's the goal.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
We want to better serve everybody, so that's what we
broke it down, so we can be more present and
more intentional about it.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
There we go, Allison. So we're gonna do this on Saturday.
They're gonna go help clean up at nine o'clock. They're
gonna stay there till about nine to fifty five. Then
they're gonna run over to the Reggi Lewis Center because
it's not that far. We can make it happen. And
then ten to one is there everyone that's signed up
for the second one? You definitely got to go clean
up first and then go to the Reggie Lewis Center.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
That's right, that's perfect.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
There it is, Alison, thank you, Good luck to Saturday,

It was such a vibe, like I love going there
and volunteering every year.

What else is going on in Boston?

Speaker 4 (06:20):
So we have two more things. Twenty six True, which
is a marathon and half marathon group that runs through
the city of Boston. Okay, So they basically are amplified
and salvating the culture and diversity that make up the
city of Boston, and the rows take runners right through
the heart of the city so they can fill the
post and so it highlights neighborhoods like Roxbury. It starts

(06:41):
in Roxbury, ends in Roxbury, So Roxbury, Jamaica, Plane, Dorchester
and Mattapan Nice. They'll be starting at Malcolm X at
Dale Street. On Dale Street, that's where the runners start off,
and then there's a huge block party after that.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Once the race ends.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
It's a Saturday all day, so I'm telling you everything
was happening.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Saturday, got it. So now the new schedule is you're
gonna run a marathon at seven o'clock in the morning.
Then you're gonna go to Franklin Park and clean it up,
and then you can go to the job fair at
Reggie Lewis Center.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
You know it's so late to run the marathon, but
you can come support Ny there. You go, yeah, and
then celebrate with us at the end. Perfect continuing the
family day into the Apple break. So families can visit
Ica Science Museum, Mass Art Museum, papavere JFK, you name it.
And so in order to enter the museum or historical site,
families should be able to register and if they go

on Boston Family Day, they should be able to find
their registration link and it gives them two guests pass
for each and this is open to all Boston families,
so you don't have to be a BPS student.
