My girl Asha, she is a Rocks Ray liaison.

She jumps on there with me to talk about all
the great things happening in Boston. And yes, I know
Summer Walker's here. Now are you excited about her this weekend?
What's going on besides Summer Walker being in Boston? What
else we got going on?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
I'm excited for someone Walker, But you know, there's a
lot of things happening this weekend. I have my colleague Danesia,
who is the Deputy director of the LGBTQI Department, to
talk about all the festivities that's happening on this weekend.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
What about Danisha, Hi, thanks for joining us.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
So, I am the Deputy director of the Mayor's Office
of LGBTQI, a two s BLUs advancement in the City
of Boston. Our role is to empower, protect, and promote
the rights, dignity and advancement of the LGBTQI residents of Boston.
And what that means is that basically, we support marginalized
community to make Boston a safer and healthier.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
City for all of us.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
I love that. Do you have an event going on
this weekend too.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
We do.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
So we just actually had our kickoff with the Mayor
on Monday, just kickoff Pride Month of flag raising and
job fare, and then this Saturday we'll be marching in
the parade for Boston Pide for the people, along with
the Mayor. That's ten am on Saturday. We're meeting at
one ninety nine Clarenance Street, right outside of Trinity Church.
We're lining up at ten am and the parade begins

at eleven.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Nice Pride Month going down right now. This is Saturday,
ten am. Tell me why people should come out.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
People should come out because Pride is a celebration, it's
a protest, it's a homecoming. It's an opportunity to show
the world who we are, who we love, and that
we are loved. And so it's a good opportunity for
folk who are members of the community and for folks
who are allies to come out and support.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Does it feel like this is like the month where
you get the most people coming out?

Speaker 4 (01:38):
For sure? This is definitely Pride Month is when we
get the most attention and support. There's tons of events
all month long. We have an event at the end
of the month at the Museum of Science. Another Pride
celebration that is called Slate the entire month and beyond
for exactly that reason, because we know that Pride is
the one hundred and sixty five days a year, but
we really turn it up for Jim.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
I love that man, all right, So more det what
they can obviously, the parade is this Saturday, starting off
at one nine nine Clarendon Street in Boston.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
And yeah, where can they get more information? Boston dot gov.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
So Boston dot gov forward slash Pride. We also have
our Boston dot gov for slash. LGBTQ to find Our
office is information and we're on Instagram at LGBTQ Underscore office.

If someone like it's kind of like I want to
come out, but I'm still a little nervous about it.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Do you have like a resource center where they can
contact somebody? For sure?

Speaker 4 (02:27):
People can definitely reach out to our office directly, anonymously
come for support for connection to resources, whether that's city
resources or resources out in the community.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
I love that right there.

Speaker 2 (02:38):

So we just recently had the Mattapan Mayor's Coffee Hour,
which was a success. The next one is in the
North End on June ninth at nine thirty to ten
thirty am. It's at five nine fivety three Commercial Streets
and the Landgone Park. And so if anyone has any
questions of concerns or just want to talk to the Mayor,

I think this is a good time for them to
just pop up and come to the coffee hour. We
also have a link on the Boston Douga former slash
Coffee Hour to just take any questions prior to the
coffee hour. So if anyone has any input or that
you know, I just want to engage with our office,
they can fill out the community Input survey. Also, the

Dorchester Parade is this Sunday. Yeah, so it's a fun
field and then Summer Walker.

Sunday, you know, weekend full of parades and Summer Walker.
