Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hey, you can leave us a hot take, a message,
just like that. When you listen on the iHeartRadio app,
that's what the little microphone is for. Angel plays those
at the top of the hour, and then we have
a whole segment at the end of the show where
we get to hear from you guys. So leave those messages,
and we'll play them a little bit later on. Go
to the iHeartRadio app, click on the microphone.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (00:23):
I'm Russ with Angelique and Ryan. And now Angel's going
to bring you Monster Sports.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Monster Sports brought to you by Mark Spain Real Estate.
That's MarkSpainRealEstate.com. Huge shout out. Thank you guys for jumping
on Monster Sports. Check out the website. Buyers selling your
home or looking for a job. They are hiring. It's
Mark Spain Real Estate. Really busy sports weekend, Russ. We'll
start here at home. Congratulations to the Orlando Pride defeating

(00:49):
the Houston Dash 3-1. And then Orlando City getting the
victory here at home versus San Diego. Let's go City. Yeah. Again,
it's always good to get those three points. Strong victory,
1-0 versus San Diego. So congratulations to them. And then
we had a weekend of college football. Just blowout after

(01:15):
blowout after blowout. In some cases.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Except for one, a very specific one.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
So what we do typically here is cover the Florida
teams or give them the love. Wow. When I remember
to remember or to mention South Florida or University of
South Florida, I will. But it's, you know, we're Orlando,
Central Florida local. So, again, UCF started the week on Thursday,
and they beat Bethune-Cookman 73-6.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
We could have gone for the record.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
That was a shellacking. A neat thing that they're doing
over at UCF, though, before we go on to any
of the other scores, Russ, if you go to the stadium,
what's their stadium called again out there, Ryan? Oh, that's
at the Bounce House. The Bounce House. But... It's mid addition.
No addition. No, that's the, that's the basketball stadium. It is.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Uh, no, it's the, I'm not going to say it right.
Cause it was FBC mortgage.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
It's the Accra. Sure.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
I don't know how to say it.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
That's it. Bounce house. Accra. Sure. Bounce house.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
The official name. They just changed it this year.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
So one of the things that they're doing out there
at UCF, Russ, for the football season, when they have
guests come to play them, they're doing hot dogs in
the traditional flavor or a play on. whoever the guest
is so for example when they played against bethune cookman

(02:41):
they had the daytona dog which is deviled crab mayo
crushed pineapple chopped scallions on a hot dog bun it
looked absolutely fantastic so they.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Do it out of respect for who they're playing.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Uh it's just a play just you know just hey
these are our guests and we're just going to do
a take on a hot dog that we think would
would come from that oh all right.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah you want to eat you want to eat your opponent.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
So, for example, September 26th, they're playing TCU, and they're
going to offer up the Super Frog Dog, which is
a pickled red onion, julienne, peppercorn, and hot honey drizzle
on a hot dog. Ryan, if you look these up,
there's images of these, and they look absolutely incredible. For
Georgia State, they got the Peach State Dog, Russ. And

(03:25):
it's a Brunswick stew, caramelized Vidal onions, spicy peach jam
on a hot dog.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
So, okay, the thought process. Is that like, okay, so
if we got Georgia fans here. They'll see that we
made a hot dog just for them, and they're going
to order it. Is that the thought process?

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yeah, we take their money and their football.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Which is fine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But these are all
home games, so this is for the locals. I mean,
I'm sure. Let's say a couple hundred. Because locals aren't
going to order a Georgia dog. Sure would.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yeah, you would.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yeah, I want to eat the opponent.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Exactly.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Eat their wiener. Okay.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Again, there's that mentality out there, too. We also have
the Cougar Dog, which is with BYU. They're Cougars, so
that's sautéed peppers, shredded mozzarella on a hot dog. We've
got Baylor, which is going to be the Lone Star Dog,
which is brisket. pinto beans, barbecue sauce, diced onions, shredded cheddar,

(04:22):
pickled jalapenos, and Fritos on a hot dog. On November
the 20th, it's going to be the Iowa Garden Dog,
which is seedless cucumbers, red onions, shredded carrots, cilantro, pickled
aioli sauce. And then the Arizona state is going to
be the sun devil dog. And my screen won't roll
down far enough. So show me what that was.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
For those games, for those UCF games, when we're playing,
you know, big schools like that, like Georgia, like, like
who you just said, how many, because we are central Florida,
probably have a lot of outer town people come to
these games, right? Like a lot of the visiting team comes, right?

Speaker 2 (05:01):
No. UCF home games? Yeah. No, that's a strong UCF crowd.
I guess I'm not catching what you're trying to ask.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
How many people come from, let's say, University of Georgia
to go watch the game?

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Okay, I see what you're saying. So let's say Georgia
State probably has good traveling fans. We're probably talking a
couple hundred. BYU, probably a couple hundred. Baylor, like if
you're thinking thousands. I think it.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
Depends on the distance as well. Like how much... You
know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Yeah, I'm just wondering, because we are, you know, Central
Florida and it is a great vacation place. If we
have a lot more people come to the UCF games because,
you know.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
You can go different places.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
UCF fans, y'all can let me know. Because typically they'll
have a section of the stands for the guests.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Right.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
And they'll have that. I can't imagine that that area
is going to be more than a couple hundred seats.
UCF fans, let me know if I'm wrong on that.
Hit me up, Real Mobile 77031. A dedicated seating for
the guest teams that come to play UCF here at
home if it's more than two sections. And then, so again,

(06:06):
they're doing that. It's Big 12. They're celebrating the Big
12 with these hot dogs. And if you're looking for it,
they're going to be at sections 112, 115, 120, 132,
and 135 is the sections that they will be selling
those hot dogs. Now, we had the Florida Gators. They
played Saturday, September the 5th. It was a really difficult
time trying to find that game. You had to watch

(06:26):
it on YouTube. So, they played Florida Atlantic Owls, Russ. Yeah,
that's where my son went to college. Yeah, they got
whooped up on. They got 66-21. Florida Gators win. And
then Miami... went up against Stanford Cardinals, Russ. And again,
this was Friday, September the 4th, and they whooped up
on them boys 45-6. So again, we're rounding out some

(06:50):
of the big teams here. And then Sunday night football,
Sunday night college football, this team was fortunate that they
were given a primetime spot to play on TV, on ESPN.
There was a bunch of controversy with ESPN's handling of
some games over the weekend. We'll bring one of those
stories up to you, Russ. But so it was a

(07:12):
Florida State versus number 19, the SMU Mustangs. Yeah, I
saw what happened. And after a two-hour time delay. The
lights went out. The lights went out. What do you
think college football teams across the country did to FSU
on their posts in regards to FSU not having. Imagine

(07:32):
they were polite. Oh, right.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
They were like supportive.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Like, hey, we hope you get your lights back on.
We understand. How could it take two hours to fix that?
It's Tallahassee.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
There had to be an electrician somewhere around Tallahassee that
could have jumped on that quicker than a two-hour delay.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Two-hour time delay. That was one of them. And then
every single college took their shot at FSU and the
time delay.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
FSU students is a take the screw in a light bulb.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
Well, basically, they were doing a screenshot of their particular
stadiums with the lights on. Right. And doing that joke. Hey,
we got the lights on over here. University of Miami
was the first one. And then after that, every single
college took their shot at them. Did they say what
the problem was? Like, how could that happen? Ghosts. I
don't know. I have not found the specific details of
what caused the outage. Like, was there an accident somewhere?

(08:21):
There was the storms.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
FSU's not that bright.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
There was the storms that ran through Central Florida, and
so they were storm-related, Russ. So there was that part
of it. Okay, storm-related. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
But, and then, so... It takes you two hours to
turn your lights on, and then you suffer the indignation
of losing your home game versus SMU 27-24. So that's
a tough one. That was last night, they're saying. Yeah,
that was last night, Sunday night, or Monday night. I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Yeah, we're confused when we take days off.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
The day off, sorry, guys. Thank you, guys. You're right,
you're right, you're right. Monday night. Monday night. Yeah, I'm
a little thrown off. All right, so with football coverage,
college football coverage back, Russ, and it's a busy weekend,
wall-to-wall games all the way through Monday night, last night,
the FSU game. But one of the games that's getting
a little controversy is also an SEC game, and we

(09:16):
had Ole Miss going up against Louisville. Now, Ole Miss
ends up winning the game 41-38. Congratulations, Ole Miss, whatever, blah, blah, blah.
This is their biggest controversy ever.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
What?

Speaker 2 (09:30):
And it falls on the shoulders of one of ESPN's cameramen. Uh-huh.
Cameraman is sweeping the crowd and everything. I mean, she's
a fan, too. Right. And it's not that she's not
a fan, Russ. Uh-huh. It's not that. It just seemed
that the cameraman. Kept finding her. Not only kept finding her,

(09:52):
but was leaving the camera on her for extended periods
of time. She's very pretty. She is a pretty, pretty fan.
She's quite attractive.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
So the image went viral. But everyone, you know how
this is nowadays. So everyone took to social media and
was complaining and protesting.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Why?

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Just the fact that how much the cameraman was focusing
on her. saying the producer and the cameraman deserve a bonus.
Other people were like, this is taken away from the game. Oh,
pike down. Oh, and then the thing was also, he
would do the super zoom. Oh, he was into it, huh? Yeah,

(10:34):
he was doing the super enhance. And so, you know,
I got some acceptance. Now, here's what's interesting. No one's
been able to determine what her name is. Sometimes these
young ladies, they do this on purpose. They go to
the games hoping to get national recognition. and then instantly
their social medias pop up. They think they found the
person who it is, but that person instantly made their

(10:56):
social media, turned it to private.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Hey, back to the question I asked about the two-hour
delay of game for Florida State. Someone said, this is
from the Texan service, and they threw in a story
to go along with it. A drunk driver ran into
a transformer an hour before the game. I was wondering
if it was an accident problem because you would think
that something like that, if it was just, I don't know,

(11:18):
a breaker went, they could have fixed that before two hours,
you know. But if it's an accident like that, I
could see where that would take, you know.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
A longer bit of time.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
I got to reroute or do something.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Yeah. Again, all those things could be true, and it
is an unfortunate situation to fall in there. But, you know, again,
how nice colleges and college fan bases are. Oh, they're
goofing off. And they're going to take that into consideration before.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
For me, the most egregious thing I saw over the
weekend was the Michigan-West Michigan game.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
What happened? Michigan was supposed to win this game, right?
West Michigan comes out and plays.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
The game of their life.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
They actually win the game, but because the refs, for
some reason... put one second back on the clock after
the game was over.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Oh, yes. Allowing Michigan to win. Oh, my gosh.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
It honestly seemed like the most rigged game I've ever
seen in my entire life.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
I could not believe that this had happened. But, I mean,
you couldn't rig that. No, they can.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
They did.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
That catch, though, was pretty unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
I mean, but like with one second left, I know
you still had to have the athleticism there to do that.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
But it did fully.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
You can't convince me the refs did not rig that game.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
The catch is beside the point. Everyone already won. Yeah.
What they're going after is how they put that second
back on. And then the explanation that they were given
after the fact of how that happened. And that was
very controversial. And then we're one day away from the
beginning of the football season. And that starts, it's going
to be tomorrow. We got Patriots and Seahawks tomorrow at 820.

(13:03):
Who you got on that there, Ryan?

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Are you betting on your Patriots?

Speaker 2 (13:07):
I will not be betting. No, no betting, huh? No,
but go Patriots. Somebody got in trouble. No, no, no, no.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
I just, who do I really think will win that game?

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Is the Patriots because go Patriots.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
But I'm not putting money on it.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
I'll tell you that. Gotcha.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Okay. I think we're going to have, we. Here's some
funny audio. Like, look, I'll be real with you guys.
We had the easiest schedule last year. That's the reason
why we went to the Super Bowl. It's just a
fact of life.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Okay. I can admit that.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
This year we have the third hardest schedule somewhere up there,
so I'm not that excited about this season. Unless Drake
May is the truth after all, it'll be interesting to
see this season. But again, for a Super Bowl rematch,
I'm not liking it.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
You're not feeling it? No. One of the funny things
that is happening, because we got San Francisco playing in
Australia versus the Rams. Right. And this is Coach Shanahan.
trying to explain his calendar of the week leading up
to this game.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (14:14):
When I look at my clock and it says the time,
and then I try to see my family's time, and
it says the time, but it says yesterday.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
I don't even get how that's possible. So I feel
like I'm in the future.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
And then also when we play on our Friday, which
I think is a Thursday in the U.S., we're such
creatures of habit.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
So I call today Tuesday. No, wait.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Sorry, I call today Wednesday, which is the first day
we put in a game plan. But I think it's Monday. However, though,
it's Sunday in the present. So, like, I'm going to
mess that up all week if you guys ask me.
But today is just our first day of the game plan,
which is a Wednesday. We'll put in some on a Thursday.
Friday is the final part of the game plan. Saturday
we walk through when we play on Sunday, which is

(14:49):
a Friday in Australia and a Thursday in the U.S.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Goodness gracious. And that's Monster Sports, right? All right.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
I got a couple more sports things I want to
bring up to you. We'll do that when we come back.
Don't go anywhere. You're listening to the Monster of the Morning. 104.1,
we are broadcasting live on iHeartRadio. You can leave us
a message there. When you listen on the iHeartRadio app,
you'll see a little microphone. You can click on that microphone,
leave us a message, and we'll play those at the
top of the hour and then also at the end

(15:16):
of the show. A couple more sports things I wanted
to go over because I'm ate up with and absolutely
love now women's basketball. And the women's team, they're in
Berlin right now. It's World Cup basketball. And they're expected
to win. But FIBA World Cup, FIBA World Cup.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
World Cup.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
It's important to make that distinction because World Cup also
could be soccer.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
So is this so is this related to the Olympics
in some way? Angel, I don't I don't understand the
FIBA thing. And they call Team USA and they mentioned
the Olympic team a couple of times. But it doesn't
seem like it's the Olympics.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Well it's the the team that's in this would also
be the team that would represent the olympics but fiba
f-i-b-a is a different organization.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Gotcha okay uh so three games over the the course
of labor day weekend and uh first game was on
friday and uh they killed i mean it was 94
to i'm sorry 84 to 92 usa won no no
i'm sorry all right i'll go back it's china We
beat China 94 to 61. That was a blowout. Caitlin

(16:23):
Clark was the MVP of the game. She had a
great game.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
It was awesome.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Then the next game was against Italy. And Italy, they
were mad. Or they were on fire or something was
going on with Italy. And our ladies couldn't hit a
shot for nothing. And Angel, what I want to ask
you about was deciding who the lineup is, right? So
when it comes to the lineup, you know, the starting five, Uh,

(16:48):
the coach has been putting in like these veterans, uh, uh, the,
you know, uh, uh, women from the WNBA who have
been played before many, many years, uh, in, um, uh,
FIBA world cup basketball. And then we'll put them in
for a little while. And then they put in like
the young guns, the new younger players and the new
younger players are scoring more and performing better, but they're

(17:09):
still putting in the veterans first.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Is that a tactical reason? Yeah. You always go with
your vets.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
For the, to start, even if they're not playing as
well as the younger players.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Well, you hope that, uh, like you hope you, you,
you gotta give your vets time, I guess, to start. Yeah.
So when it comes to international basketball, um, there's a
hierarchy there. And so typically the coaches will defer to
your veteran players. That's the reason why they're on the team. Um,
your young players are playing a role in the sense of, uh,

(17:42):
They're fire plugs off the bench. And I say this
for both men and women's teams. So the courtesy or
the professionalism is that sometimes it might take your veterans
a little bit longer to get going or get started
or get in the flow of the game or whatnot. Yeah.
And so that's kind of typically is what the thought

(18:03):
process is.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
You know, what's been enjoyable for me is, you know,
when during the WNBA season, they pit all these, uh,
ladies against each other, right? Like Angel Reese versus, uh,
Caitlin Clark and Becker's and, you know, like Paige Becker's against,
you know, Boston, all this stuff. And to see them
all play together and to see them like play as
a team is kind of cool.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Well, that's what it is to be on Team USA. So, yeah,
you put all that aside. You know, there's one thing
to play professional in college. It's another thing to play for,
you know, national pride and for the national team. That's another,
you know, that's probably one of the highest honors. And,
I mean, to that point, if it wasn't for Angel
Reese in that game versus Italy, they'd lose. Her defense

(18:46):
is what.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Look, I'm not one— I don't hate on Angel Reese because
they pit her up against Kaitlyn Clark. I like Angel Reese.
I think she plays great. I know she says some
things sometimes that are controversial. I kind of like that, too,
because she's got a little bit of attitude. And I
like seeing her and Kaitlyn and Aaliyah Boston— And Becker's
and also Stewie. I like Stewie, too. All play together.

(19:08):
But they had a great game yesterday. They beat the
Czech Republic.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Typically, in international play, you're always going to get one
of those scares. It's not uncommon. And Italy was definitely
up for that. They couldn't hit a shot. They couldn't
hit a shot. And even some of their best players
were missing. A lot of those Italian players. And to
that point, a lot of these, there's another... league that's
just as strong as the wnba in europe and a

(19:34):
lot of these women are playing in that league as
opposed to playing in the wnba right italy has a
lot of players that play in that european league and
so that you know they're they're good they were good
yeah that was a scare that's with a women's professional basketball.
That's the thing. That's probably the equalizer in the sense
of there are other leagues that are probably just as

(19:57):
good or maybe, uh, you know, a tick or two better.
Then the WNBA. And so and the European League is
definitely one of those. That's why the FIBA exists to
basically put on this tournament and bring all these players
from all these different make sure they get you're supposed
to have like the best of the best of all
the leagues globally.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Yeah, I think there's 18 teams that are in this
particular tournament. And we run that. We won the first
group or whatever. We won the first group. They're undefeated
right now. They don't have another game until Thursday. So,
you know, it's been fun about this is that my
wife will watch it with me now. So she knows
all the players and she like is pulling for the players. So, yeah,
it makes it a lot more fun. So, you know, anyway, so.

(20:40):
So right now, Team USA is undefeated. They're doing very,
very well. And then another thing is kind of sports
related a little bit, kind of. And you mentioned it, Ryan,
so I went and watched that thing.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
It's Ray Gunn, that Netflix special.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
Yeah, about the Australian breakdance lady.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
There's nothing sports related about that. It's the Olympics. She
went to the Olympics. She's an Olympic athlete, Angel. She's
an Olympic athlete, Angel. I was mad at Ryan. I
was genuinely mad at Ryan because he was insisting that
I give this thing a shot. You got to watch it.
I did. I could not. you didn't like it not
not even a little i.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Gotta tell you i watched it and i liked her
i didn't feel like you know i thought she was
gonna be a real dumbass or something she's not.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
She is she did the best she could do.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
And she's like listen i won and they sent me
the olympics what am i gonna.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Do she's a dork and her husband is insufferable okay
i liked her and and i respect the fact that
she just went and did.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
The best You're laughing while you're saying that. So again,
I understand there are people that, again, love that art form,
cherish that art form, live and die for that art form,
so that this was the ultimate disrespect. As you're saying, oh,
I respect it, I love it, you're smiling, laughing at her.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Because it made me laugh to see what she did,
and the whole world came down on her.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
So how is that.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Because what she was trying to do, Angelique, is she
was trying to incorporate, because she was from Australia, she's like,
I'll do things that are very Australian, right? and so
she when she's doing the dance or hip-hop dance or
whatever uh she she does the sprinkler and they're like
why on the god's green earth like that's the dumbest
thing in the world but the sprinklers were invented in
australia so she was just putting that in there and

(22:23):
then at the end she does a kangaroo which is
ridiculously stupid.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
But it was representing okay the whole time you're telling
your version of this russ you're laughing at her i
am laughing because it was funny but it's it's funny.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
She wasn't a bad person or anything.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
She just i don't think again this is not a
judgment of me as her as a human being even
after the documentary i don't know that person doing anything
i can still be disappointed in every aspect of it
yeah i can still not find favorable or have a
favorable opinion of her and her and her husband.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Her performance was so bad that they canceled it from
the olympics like they're like we're not doing this anymore Well.

Speaker 6 (23:01):
Because it made it look like it wasn't a real thing.
So everybody who does make the living doing this and
everyone who was competing for real, it made it not real.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
And that's the part that really isn't cool.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
There was years and years that went into trying to
get this into the Olympics. It wasn't like a fly-by-night thing.
you know a couple weeks before the olympics oh let's
throw this in there there was a committees there was
you know they want that art form and red bull
there's a couple different organizations that have these shows that
going around the world.

Speaker 6 (23:28):
They're amazing like to watch what they the people who
really do it really watch them do it you'll be
flabbergasted without having to.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Laugh about it yeah but allegedly when ray gun uh
you know whenever she competed in australia she was the
best one I.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
Don't think she was.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
She's not. The girl that was in there with her
was better than her. The blonde? No, the lady with
the dark hair. The Asian lady. Yeah, yeah. She was
probably better.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
All I learned is that Australia is like an entire
country of just nerds. That's how I felt about it.
They try to take hip hop culture. But the problem
with Australia is they sound, A, they sound ridiculous in
anything that they do. But when they're talking about breaking
and being a B-boy, it just sounds silly.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
And they sound like nerds. It sounded horrible coming from
those two. And it sounded horrible.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Again, if you're- Her husband is obnoxiously delusional.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
And they could come from the most authentic kind of
position or place. But again, it is exactly what you
watch is people- interpreting this, watching it on TV. and
their thought process of what this culture is about. And
it's a complete slap in the face of the culture.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Yeah, it really is. Literally, they watched it on TV.
They have no actual culture, and they're just copying it,
making a bad photocopy of it, and it's hilariously bad.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
You can't stop her from dancing. She loves to dance.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
She can dance all she wants. It doesn't mean that
she has to represent her country.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
But it's not her fault that they picked her.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
She was the best one on that day.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
She was the best one.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
When they had the competition for somehow, some way, everybody
has that beautiful moment in their lives where you're just
the best one. You're not the best, but on that day,
you were the best.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
And man, every now and then the sun shines on
a dog's ass. Yeah. But that seems to be what
it was.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
No one remembers anybody else from breakdancing.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
Except for this lady. They just remember Ray Gunn.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
It's a shame. And she seemed like a sweet person,
you know? No, she doesn't.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
She seemed like a culture vulture that was like taking it.
She was trying to do like an academic... way of
looking at breakdancing and she was never good at it
no one no one ever grabbed her by the shoulders
and go girl you are bad at this you're not
really good this is.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
The highest level of participation trophy ever yes and she
didn't she didn't get one like not one vote she
she like.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
No she wasn't good that's why that's like her first
couple rounds like They were bad, right?

Speaker 2 (25:59):
Obviously, she didn't get any points, but you could tell
she was breakdancing.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
And because she might have had this in her back
pocket the whole time, but she'd been defeated three rounds back-to-back,
so it looked like she was just like, F it,
I'm just going to goof off.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
And no one knew the backstory.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Remember, they were trying to get all creative and smart
about it, like we're going to put in things that.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
It's not interpretive dance, though.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
I know, I know, that was the thing. It wasn't
interpretive dance, but that's what they wanted. They wanted to
be different from everybody else.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
That's not the place to do that. Hey, can you
imagine her showing up?

Speaker 6 (26:29):
Well, there's other ways to do it if you're actually
good at it. You can do that.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Imagine her showing up at the Olympics, though, and all
these real athletes are there that have really, you know,
practiced and trained for years and years.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
But they're there, though. That's what I'm trying to have
come across here. Red Bull has had this series that
they've had for decades now.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
Right.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
And the same way they do the extreme sports, they
also have a music division and they also have a
breakdance division. And there's been the Red Bull championships that
happen all over the world. I got to emcee one
of them that happened here in Orlando just a few
years ago. I remember that. Yeah. yeah yeah and so
that so that that again so that poser got to

(27:13):
the highest level and and ruined it because it's never
it's never not going to get back into the olympics
and most people's reaction or when you say break dancing
or let's say you talk to anybody it's going to
be like what you said oh are you you're ray
gun and that's that's almost even worse I.

Speaker 6 (27:33):
Mean, think about back in the day, Phineas Foggs over
at Church Street Station, and you used to be able
to watch the break dancers over there.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (27:40):
They were break dancers, like all the different troops of
break dancers. And, and even today, the guys that are
spinning on their heads, the guys that are doing all
the stuff.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Yeah. She can barely, she can barely do any of that.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
She can't do it.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Like she can't even do the beginning.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
No.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
So there's, I mean, like there's a, this happens in
the Olympics all the time. We just don't focus on it.
It's because there was.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
This is someone in gymnastics.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
That does this.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
I have, uh, an, uh, an amazing list of these
people if you really want it.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
In gymnastics?

Speaker 3 (28:11):
So there's people that do this where they are a
citizen of one country and they have dual citizenships. They
can't make the Olympics with one country, so they'll go
to the smaller country and they'll compete so they can
say they're an Olympian.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
They do horrible.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
But it doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
But it doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
This just like when you're horrible at breakdancing and it's
the first breakdancing, it's so obvious that you're horrible. Because
if you're like a downhill skier, people are like, oh,
they just got a low score. So this kind of
thing does happen in the Olympics quite a bit. She's
just the most recognizable name of this happening.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
It's on Netflix now. I enjoyed watching it.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
They left a lot out, though, because she's also like
a bad person. She did not take the memes well.
They're acting like she kind of like embraced it eventually.
There was a musical done by comedians to raise money
for a women's shelter. It was a musical based on
Ray Gunn. And she sued them, made them stop. They
raised no money. The documentary really cleaned up her image.

(29:10):
And she's not the nicest person in the world. I
watched it and I liked her.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Australians hate her.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
She's an Olympian and she's got a thing on Netflix.
Look at her.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
That's what I'm saying. It's the biggest participation trophy ever.
ever she did horrible on this ruin this and her
reward was oh let's do a Netflix documentary yeah the
world hates her.

Speaker 6 (29:30):
Though but do they they still watch she still makes
money how much do you hate her you're still paying.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
Her I don't know she's getting paid she didn't exactly
she didn't look like she was getting.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Paid much i.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
Don't know maybe when she does interviews maybe she does
i don't know all right uh don't go anywhere you're
listening to the monster of the morning real radio okay
for some reason i'm gonna say what i thought.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
I'm hungry is that like bono It sounds like Radiohead. Radiohead.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Yeah. So that's why it stuck with me. It's funny.
That's exactly what I thought when I first heard it
over the weekend.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
I don't know enough about Radiohead. I couldn't tell you
what they sound like.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
The band is called Mystery Jets, and this is their
new album. No, that's Radiohead.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
That's Greta Van Fleet doing Led Zeppelin. That is Radiohead
all day.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
The album is called a hole to see the sky through.
And that track that I just played, it was flea joint.
So when I heard it over the weekend, I was like,
I didn't realize radio had, had dropped new music. So
I was, so I thought it was them. So that's
why I wanted to share it with everybody and see
if they had the same reaction.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
So I wonder if that, if that was their inspiration
to be in music kind of a thing, you know,
I wonder if that, you know, and they just can't
help but sound like them. Cause that was their inspiration,
you know, with this band.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
And I don't, again, that's why I love music so much.
Sometimes like there's so, much out there this band has
got a handful of albums and so yeah i don't
know maybe it's just that one song that they sound
like that you know i gotta go i gotta do
some research on them and listen to.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
Them yeah uh welcome back what's up i'm russ with
uh angelique and angel and ryan all here today once
again sort of sports related but uh they they came
out with uh the most followed people on instagram for
2026 uh who do you think is the number one
person in the world on instagram that has the most followers.

Speaker 6 (31:19):
Well, I mean, if this is sports-related, I mean, at
first I thought it was Taylor Swift.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
A little hint. Taylor Swift is not in the top 10.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
She's not in the top 10? That's part of the shock, yeah. Wow.
She has 273 million followers, and she is not in
the top 10. That's Cristiano.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
It is.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
Cristiano Ronaldo is number one with 679 million followers.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
I believe it.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
Who do you think is in second place? And once again, sports-related.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
Yeah, Lionel.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
Lionel Messi with 516 million. So, I mean, Cristiano Ronaldo
is way, I mean, millions and millions ahead. Why is
it he has so many followers, so many more followers
than Lionel Messi?

Speaker 2 (32:06):
He's more likable.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
He's more beloved.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
He's more pretty. Yeah, there's that part. I mean, look,
he's an incredibly attractive dude. He's a good-looking dude. What
country is he from? Portugal. Portugal, okay. Which is not,
in and of itself, not a huge country, but Portugal, Spain,
that part of the world. Yeah, he has got so
many more followers than Lionel Messi.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
And then in third place, now we go to celebrities
that are our singers and stuff. Selena Gomez has 403
million followers. Uh, the rock Dwayne, the rock Johnson, 381 million.
Then you got Kylie Jenner who is right around there. Uh, uh,
380 million.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Uh, let's see here. Who else?

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Uh, Ariana Grande has 363 million, uh, Kim Kardashian, $ 344 million.
Then you got Beyonce with $ 299 million. Khloe Kardashian is
$ 291 million. And then Justin Bieber rounds out the top
10 with $ 286 million. And Taylor Swift isn't in the
top 10.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Hmm.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
I mean, okay.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
How does The Rock have like.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
A- That's what I was wondering.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
I mean, like this is, all those names built their
following 10 years ago. Honestly, for me, the guy was like,
People aren't using Instagram anymore.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
I know.

Speaker 3 (33:25):
So these are holdovers from when Instagram was big and
everybody was rushing to the big names. I'm not at
all surprised that Taylor Swift isn't on there.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
Taylor Swift would be in the top 15, though. She's
at 273 million.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
Yeah, 273, yeah. But how does The Rock... I mean,
The Rock has 100 million more followers than Taylor Swift.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Movies. The movies.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
Exactly.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
The tequila. All the branding and everything.

Speaker 4 (33:48):
All the stuff. So he's getting it from all different angles.
It's not just one.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
And The Rock will buy bots. He strikes me as
a guy that would like buy bots.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
Oh, really? Yeah. Does that count in this? It counts
to the total number for sure.

Speaker 4 (34:03):
If it's only going off a total number.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
They're not policing it. You want to find the next
wave of company or the company that you watch how
everybody reacts to it, all these heavyweights. You be the
company or you be the person that creates a bot detector.
For example, Instagram knows. They have that information. So they know.
They don't want that. They're not ever going to give

(34:26):
you that information.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
Because it's more, it sounds better if it's like, oh,
he's got 600.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
If we've got a billion people using our platform, that
sounds better. They use that for their ads. They use
that to sell all that. The last thing any of
these social media platforms want is a governing body or
an app or a service that does bot detection on
all the platforms. Because the shocking thing would be... is

(34:53):
how much less of these numbers it really is. What
percentage do you think is bots? I think there was
a study out there.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
It's over 50 now.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Yeah, it's over 50%.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
So these numbers with Ronaldo, 50% of those are fake?

Speaker 4 (35:06):
He's world renowned though.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
I would say you could put that 50% on every
single one of those numbers.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
So lop all those numbers off at half.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
And their numbers just begin to not add up anymore
because like unless all of these people are also following
the other top 10 we're at like four billion people
and then there's only a billion users like it's it's
kind of crazy i don't i never believe these numbers
but instagram is dying and i can't wait for it
to go away even though i'm heavily invested in facebook
as a as a company why it's completely useless it's

(35:39):
either it's an ad every like two to three things
it's filled with AI no I'll scroll through my Instagram
right now it's like post post ad somebody I don't
know somebody I don't know ad and then it's the
AI slot problem is out of control on Instagram so
they like I don't even open that app anymore.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
Yeah, I don't open Twitter or X or whatever.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
I don't open that one anymore. That was terrible.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
I don't know. I've migrated to TikTok, and it's more fun,
and they seem to control better. They got lots of ads.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
Get ads.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
It's the same thing. But the ads are more relevant
on TikTok. It takes me a second to realize I'm
watching an ad, where on Instagram, I'm like, oh, ad, ad, ad.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
So I don't know.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
Facebook, I don't know what Meta's doing. They're shooting themselves
in the foot left and right. I don't know who's attracting.
Too many spots, too many commercials. No, and Facebook is
an angry place now. It's just rage bait. Those are
all the posts that are now the top of my thing.
It's stuff to just rage bait, and I'll find myself going.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
I'm like, no.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
And I don't know if I'm arguing with real people anymore,
and I'm assuming most of the time I'm not.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
So bye-bye, Meta.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
That must be who you're following and stuff, right?

Speaker 4 (36:52):
It's what your algorithm is.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Yeah, my Facebook is all WNBA stuff and Batman and Kiss.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
But there's been study after study that shows where people
make new accounts and they're fed these crazy rage bait,
whether it's right wing, left wing, whatever. Within about 10 minutes,
you start getting inundated with this stuff.

Speaker 4 (37:11):
All the messages and all the stuff of.

Speaker 6 (37:14):
Oh, hey, my Instagram, blah, blah, blah.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
And it's some....

Speaker 6 (37:20):
Pretending to be a woman or pretending to be a
man that's like trying to lure.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
You into something.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
Oh, I don't get those either.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
You don't get that at all? I even get those.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Send those to me.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
All right. When we come back, I think we have
to take to Barb. Don't go anywhere. You're listening to
the Macho of the Morning.

Speaker 2 (37:34):
Barbecue.
