(01:50):
five hours from ow wow. Here's the producer, the Angel
of Angel Ara. Come look on and I cang out
da am I Ryan? Yeah, if you want to call,
if you want to call us, you can. There's sohe
calls around seven. The phone numbers four oh seven nine
one six one O four one. I thought it was
me cold this morning, not this morning. Tomorrow it's supposed
to be down in the thirties and it's cooling off

(02:11):
as we speak. Yeah, it's a little bit chillier, but
I like, I wore a sweater, like when I like
a sweat with that real radio sweatshirt that I have.
On the way out, I'm like, well, I don't need this.
This is it's not it's not bad yet, but I
guess it's not gonna get that much higher today and
then slowly go down and tomorrow I should be in
the thirties, So be prepared for all that if you're not.
And a lot of people over the weekend were affected

(02:34):
by buying h Over four thousand flights were canceled over
the weekend, and uh, you know, uh, I know some
people that were trying to fly out to do something
and they got canceled. They couldn't go. Uh that would
be so irritating. And if the government shut down, allegedly
they're like, you know, they're making some steps to make
it so you know, the government shutdown, will uh will

(02:58):
uh will go away or not have happened and open
back up. But even if that happens, the uh, like,
airports are not going to like automatically be back to
normal just like that. It's gonna take a little bit
of time. And here we are just a couple of
weeks before Thanksgiving, so a lot of people are making
plans to drive to their Thanksgiving instead of fly to

(03:18):
the Thanksgiving because nobody wants to get stuck in an airport.
That would absolutely suck. Well no, yeah, yeah, that's that's
not good. So so so that that happened over the weekend,
and like I said, some friends that were supposed to
be flying somewhere and they had to cancel it. So
when they canceled like that, like they give your money back,
right you know, you get or they'll give you like
a voucher, like hey, you can use this next time.

(03:38):
They try to just kind of they don't want.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
To try to keep the money first.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah, but from what I'm told, if you argue a
little bit, they'll give it to you right back right away.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
I'm sure and I'm sure that no one arguing right now. Yeah,
that job.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Can you imagine, it's like a disaster, Like you're just
people mad at you all day long, Like fly I
got friends flight attendant.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
She love.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
But I just like they become customer service for the
airport when the planes landed, and people.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Feel like they can yell at the whoever the person
is at the you know, behind the counter or whatever.
People feel like they have a little bit of power
there and they can yell at the person behind the counter.
And that job would kind of suck. And you have
to I guess you have to try to keep your
wits about you, and you gotta like not get upset
and not get bad if you're doing that job.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Yeah, these watch them keep their cool. I mean, like
I see these videos online all the time and people
yelling at them in their face. They'll start breaking computers
and doing that whole thing, and it's just like nut.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
I don't have the temperament for that.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
I have been that mad at anybody.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
And in the flight attendants have no control of when
the plane leaves and when flights are delayed, and it
just seems so frustrated. I would I would lose my
job day one because I would snap back.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah, how long do you think it'll be before they're
back to normal? Normal?

Speaker 3 (04:53):
You know, I problem won't for a long time.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
A lot of people just straight up quick because they're like,
we're being treated like crap, all right, by.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Ten to fifteen days is what they're saying. Ten to
fifteen days, so past Thanksgiving, So you're thinking by Christmas
everything should be back to normal normal. No, I don't either.
Yeah I don't either. I don't. I'm not holding my breath,
let's put it that way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm not
thinking this.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
I mean just not just if you started breaking down,
like the dollars that and productivity that America's lost and
the shut down, you know, there are people that are
never going to be able to get a chance to
get that back, you know, right.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
I wonder how many people were air traffic control and
they're like, Okay, screw this, I'm not and just got
another job and just said screw it. So then we're
going to be relying on like other air traffic control
people who are not as skilled as the people that
have been there for a while, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
I think like they're probably like a lot of people,
like you work a job and you just keep going
day and day. Maybe you hate it and then something
happened and you want to quit, but you don't. You know,
because you're just like you just keep going and then
something happens like this, we're like, ah, well, then all right,
this is the sign that I need to leave, right,
and then you just you're out and then you're gone.
It's not like you can train somebody two weeks to
do this job either.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
And then this dude that was like, say, hey, I
think I want to be air traffic control. I took
the test and he just passed the test, and now hey,
jobs hoping up. We're relying on people who don't have
a lot of you know, time on the books.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
They've already treated kind of badly before. That's what we
found out.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
They're overwork, they're doing multiple jobs, already understaffed as it
was even before the shutdown. Right, we're having planes, you know,
you're getting these horrific accidents.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
So so the baggage guys, the baggage guys aren't affected
by the government shutdown, right, it's just the air traffic
control guys. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
I don't think the baggage are canceled.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Why are they there? Yeah yeah, yeah, but I'm saying
they're they're they're getting paid if they're working. It's the
only ones that are not getting paid. Are the air
traffic control Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Because they're FAA, right, yeah, baggage guys, not FAA exactly.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Okay, that's what I thought. Yeah, but they don't. Just
like the young lady that came in the other day
that's going to be in Miss Monster Burless, she works
as airlight er, a flight attendant. You know, she didn't
know when she's gonna work because they cancel all the flights.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Yeah, well, good luck. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
I would like to say I feel bad for the
flight attendants, but all my friends that are flight attendants
that I was posting on Instagram, how they're traveling around
the world have way more fun than me.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
So you'll be all right this week, you know, just
like she said, good she flies to Boston vacation for
you for free this week.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
It's not like they're going to different locations all the time.
Like the lady that was in the other day. She
just goes to Boston like every day, Boston back, Boston back.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
So I mean, it's not like a lot of them
don't get the controller like that, though.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Once all she had she didn't. She would rather go
other places, but they that's where they like, Hey, Listen,
you get on here, you go to Boston, you come back.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Yeah, a lot of them go to a hub and
then get sent out there from wherever. And that's just
kind of their schedule.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
You go to other places.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
It's just what they need. It's like the pilots. The
pilots are different every time too.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
We learned that, Yeah, no pilots or not.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Pilots are being paid right, like they're not f aa
well they you would think they would be, but no,
I guess you don't hear about pilots. Now.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Pilots work for the airline.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Airline, so they still get paid.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
They have a license from.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
Yeah, but again, if flights are being canceled, then they're
not getting paid.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Correct, Yeah, yeah, but I'm just saying because of the
government shut down indirectly. Indirectly.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
It's weird how flight attendants and I think pilots are
the same way too, where they don't get paid. Their
time doesn't start until doors are shut on the runway.
All that time in the airport, all the waiting that
they're doing, they're not being paid for that, so they don't.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
They only clock in when the damn plane takes off
when the doors shut, door shut, shut the door, shut,
the door fast door.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
They get people on the plane like way faster and.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Then door open up and then it's okay, you're off
the clocket.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Once they're backing on the ground, door open.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
That's a bunch of that's a bunch of ballogney. Man.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
I know it's a weird job. But the people that
do it love it. I mean, what's your name is daddy?
Those in here and dude, he loves it. My friends.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
PSA is not getting paid. That's who's not getting paid.
Oh yeah, check check it out. It's a federal job.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
They're trying to get rid of TSA at the airport now.
I they forgot about nine to eleven already.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
So the TSA people normally are sort of grumpy anyway,
So I wonder if they're extra grumpy now they're not
getting paid. They got to deal with all the other
people taking their shoes off, not taking their shoes off.
Didn't they get rid of that they take your shoes
off thing?

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah, then were taking shoes though.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
That's good. That's the part. I hated that. And I
hate taking my belt off because then you gotta put
your belt back on in front of everybody. And it's
like you're putting your pants on. It's very embarrassing.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Well, that's like if you're a top tier traveler, you
know you prepare for this stuff ahead of time. I
did you got like you got like the breakaway belt
and the one that snaps back.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
You wear different kind of clothing if you're traveling all
the time.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Yeah, you know what you're doing.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
If you can always tell them.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
People that don't travel because they're just they're wearing they're
wearing the wrong stuff. They're they're from their footwear to
their belt to the way they can't get their laptop
out of a bag.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Right, Yeah, you gotta wear the right stuff if if
you're gonna go anyway. So if you're effected by it,
I'm sorry about that. I know it sucks. And you
might want to make some plans for the holidays if
you plan on going to see some folks for things.
Give me because it doesn't look like it doesn't look
like it's gonna be all straightened out.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
By two weeks or two we all drive me in
the middle.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
It's two weeks from now is when I think timing
isn't that crazy? It's crazy, that's crazy stuff all right,
and we take a little back. I'll tell you what
happened over the weekend. I had a anniversary weekend. I'll
tell you about all that. Find out what you guys did,
and just kind of catch up in the first hour.
That's what we usually do. Don't go anywhere. You're listening
to the monsters in the morning.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
If you're gonna give up your personal information to a
giant merciless corporation, might.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
As well listen to something good.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
So tell Alexa to play Real Radio one O four
point one on Ihearts Radio.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Happy Monday morning to you. What's up? I'm Ras Rolands
along with Angel roberta Ryan Holmes here this morning. By
the way, very rarely when my dad was around, what
he called me and tell me something to talk about
on the radio, and he like hardly ever did it
other than every year the day before today he would
be like, Hey, you just want to can you do

(11:04):
me a favor? Tomorrow's the Marine Corps birthday? Can you
put a shout out to the Marine Corps. He would
do it every single year. So today's Marine Corps Birthday
and it's form a Dad and all the fellows that
served in the Marine Corps. It is what year seventeen
seventy five is when the Marine Corps started, And there
you go, Marine Corps Birthday for those of you that

(11:25):
served in the Marine Corps. Man that I tried to
watch it. There's a show I told you guys about
it to call Boots. It's like one of the number
one things on Netflix, and it's basically about a gay
guy that goes into the Marine Corps. And I started
watching for a little bit, but then it got way
too it got too graphic. I'm like, okay, episode I
got to episode seven, I think, and it got super graphic.

(11:46):
I'm like, okay, I can't think anyone. I'm good. I
don't need to see the drilling drill instructors making out
with each other. I had to. I had to tap
out at that point. But anyway, the good on you
man whatever. I'm sure it's still it's been the top
ten for like two weeks now as far as as
far as television shows. Over the weekend, I had my
eight year anniversary and for me, that is a record,

(12:08):
as we all know, that's eight years.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Yeah, congrats, buddy, thank you.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
I appreciate it. It was uh and you know what,
we were going to go somewhere and like's you know,
because I've got that blue green thing, which is uh,
you know, you know, we can kind of get a
room anywhere you want, it's a time share or anywhere
you want. But then we didn't want to fly because
obviously we all know what's going on with the air flight.
So I'm like, well, we don't really know winter Haven

(12:32):
that that well yet. I mean we kind of just
stay at home. Let's kind of get to know winter
Haven a little bit. And then we had a trip
plan to go to Clearwater to go on this on
this day cruise kind of a thing and ended up
being great, like it really really was good. The first
day on Friday, just kind of went to went to
lunch somewhere and then kind of just drove around just
running into things. And winn Haven we didn't we had

(12:53):
never been to before. Uh, and several of them. There
were like three or four different places that I don't
know what you were calling, Like I called them junk stores,
but I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate that. There's one place
called Pickers and uh, I don't know, Pickers and Pleasure
or something. I don't know, it's huge, and it's basically
like like an old fashioned drunk junk store. Junk store

(13:14):
is not the right term. It's better term for it,
I guess. But were at well antiques, but like a
couple of these places, they just got stuff like you know,
like like I don't know, like little dolls or little
uh uh. They had records, they had like all kinds
of stuff. Uh. And I'm not gonna give out which
one this is, but I had a question for you
guys because one of these places and we went to

(13:35):
like four of them. We went to a couple of
antique stores. We went to a couple of these picker
places and they're they're huge, and I couldn't believe how
many people were there. And all this is stuff that
you like, I don't know, like your your grandma would
have that. You're like, why would you want that? But
there's a bunch of it, you know, uh, stuff like that.
And I go into this one place and they have

(13:57):
nazeen them remember here yet I don't that. I don't
that was illegal. I had heard a long time ago
it was illegal to have Nazi.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Memorabilia in Germany, but not here.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Oh it's not here. No Okay, I thought it was
for some reason.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
We have freedom of speech, buddy.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Yeah, well yeah, but it was like Nazi like metals
and like a Nazi hat, and I'm like, oh, man like,
and I didn't ask it, I didn't say anything or whatever,
but I had someone had told me a long time
ago that was stuff was illegal to sell or you
couldn't have it or or or something like that. I
was kind of shocked to see that stuff. You know

(14:32):
where this is in Clearwater? No, no, no, no, no, no,
winter Haven.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
That makes sense, Okay, I thought you were talking about
like on your trip. I was like, Clearwater doesn't feel
like they'd be selling Nazi stuff. Winter Haven. No, in
winter Haven, this was this was a smell. This was
just a small you know, it was one of these.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
Places where people could rent a space and sell what
they want kind of thing, right, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
But they shouldn't be allowed to sell Nazi stuff. I mean, like,
that's just poor business practice from the owner of the place.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
So you say it's but it's not illegal to do
not illegal.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
But like if I owned a business and I was
like running out spaces, I would be like, hey, we're
not going to sell Nazi stuff.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Here. There was so much stuff in this There was
like three places that had a bunch of stuff. I
don't even know if the people that owned it would know.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
It was there, you know, because it was just like
when you see Nazi stuff, it's like jarring.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
It was.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Yeah, So like I was not like you just didn't
notice it.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
I was.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
I was shocked. I was like, I can't believe that
stuff there, but it was. It was back in a
corner room kind of thing. But there was thousands of
items in this one place that I just happened to
bump across that. But I thought it was for some reason,
I thought it was illegal because I had one of
my one of my wives had a grandfather who.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
Had like Nazi like guns and stuff, and I remember
the grandfather that killed Nazis, so I don't like them either.
He actually got them from Nazis and and.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
And collective trophy.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
They thought that it was illegal, and they were like,
how do we get rid of this stuff? This is
way back in the eighties or whatever when when of
the was going on. So I was told back then
it was illegal to have that stuff, and hey, rush,
we got to get rid of this, you know. Grandpa
died and he's got all this Nazi stuff. It's not illegal.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
It's illegal not in the United States, in Germany, it's certain.

Speaker 5 (16:17):
States have certain laws. With state of Florida, it's not illegal,
And for the most part, in the United States it's
not illegal because again freedom of speech.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Yeah, it was. It was jarring to see it, though,
I was. I was shocking.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
Yeah, they sell that stuff.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Did it look old or did it look like new stuff?

Speaker 3 (16:36):
No, No, it looked if they make news stuff, Yeah,
they do this.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
That wouldn't be surprising either. These were antique pieces.

Speaker 3 (16:44):
Well, I don't.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
I can't talk to anybody just sitting there, you know. Yeah,
that's what it looked antique. I don't. I don't know. Yeah.
I didn't even price it. I was like, oh my god,
I can't believe that stuff there. I thought it was illegal,
but there were the only thing. The only thing I
bought is I found a found a a copy of
a like a vinyl album that I wanted, like a

(17:04):
kiss album. Got it for fifteen bucks. That's a deal
from the Nazi store.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Not, well, it's not a Nazi store sells Nazi stuff.
It's a Nazi Now there's thousands.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Of things there. They just happen to have a couple
of items. It's not a Nazi store. It's not the
whole store is Nazi.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
How much of it needs to be Nazi before you're
not If we're like, yeah, I'm not this bad Nazi stuff.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
It's one of these places. Everybody has a room and
there must be like fifty people that have fenmarket like
a flea market situation.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
I have a free market stand and I'm like the
guy next to me selling Nazi memorabilia.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
I'd be like, what the.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Hell do you think the whole flea market's Nazi because
one guy has it?

Speaker 3 (17:40):
I you ever heard the phrase one bad apple spoils
a bunch.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Yeah, at I don't agree.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
If something's a little bit Nazi, then it's Nazi.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Right, I don't. I don't agree with that.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
There was also and you can do some mental gymnasty.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
Old lady selling mac remains, they're they're not.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Need to rise up and get the Nazi person out
of there, be like, hey, we're not going to sell
Nazi stuff.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
That's bad. It's a bad look.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Why are we doing that? I bet the macromay lady
didn't even know the match I met you. She could
have you never know, you never know. Uh. We went
to I also found some really good antique stores that
were there. I'm like, damn there really there was an
antique store that had a restaurant and I'm like, wow,
it's I've never seen such a really into their their

(18:22):
their antiques, which was which was pretty cool old food.
So and then we went to like a really fancy
restaurant out in winter Haven for our dinner and uh
it was super nice, super nice restaurant, uh for dinner
and uh, you know, I stayed up till ten o'clock.
For me. That's a big deal. Ten o'clock at night.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Anyway, so we did that and the next day we
drove to Clearwater and went on a like a day cruise,
which was which is cool. How long do you think
it gets it takes to get from winter Haven to
Clearwater in that hour That's what I thought, takes two
It's two hours. It's it's about an hour to get
to Raymond James Stadium and then about two hours to

(19:04):
get to Clearwater. It's just traffic, right, No, it's just
uh just the way that you go. Maybe traffic. I
don't know. I just uh, you know, but I was surprised.
We got the Raymond James Stadium about an hour into
it and another hour to to Clearwater. But it was nice, man,
it was really nice. Uh, really nice day cruise. Wife
set it all up. I didn't know what to expect,

(19:25):
but uh.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Yeah, I sell the video of it, just some of
it online that you posted.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Ye.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Yeah, how was the cruise?

Speaker 2 (19:30):
It was fun. I mean it was you know, it
was it was just a cruise around the bay. I
mean I've been to Clearwater so many times. Uh, the
food was good. We just kind of laughed and goofed
around and and uh it was it was nice to
get out of winter Haven for a day and do
like a little Uh it was like we were on vacation,
you know, like everything was new, Like everything that we
saw was new, and it was like we were on vacation.

(19:51):
So it was it was pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
Hell yeah, I was. I always think about doing those cruis.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
There's that one in Sandford that I want to do,
the one that's on like Lake Monroe that was like
a steamship.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Yeah, the river ship Romance. Yeah. I've got a friend
who sings on it. She's a singer on that. Oh yeah,
yeah and really good. Yeah yeah, okay, oh you would
love it with Christina because you did. You had like
a ten year anniversary too, right, I did. Yeah. So
did you guys go out?

Speaker 3 (20:14):
Uh no, we didn't do anything big. We went to
just like the Christeners.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Oh I saw the photos. I said, I bet that's Christners.
The place that we went to in winter Haveven is
like Christeners Winter Haveven Christeners. The food was like just
kind of the same and and super fancy, you.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
Know, yeah, it's nice.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
It was.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
It's funny though, because we didn't you don't get reservations,
like we didn't do that, but you can go sit
at the bar, right, that's what we'd like to do.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Anyways.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
I don't know, there's something about sitting in a high
chair that I like better. And then like sitting on
the ground so and you can talk to the bartender. Yeah,
great bartender.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
This guy named.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
Elijah had one of those weird old timey mustaches. He
looked like he's traveled from the past to get here
right right, And then we did. He made like much
slide shots for the whole bar.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
It's awesome.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Yeah, that's good. Well, we did like a fancy restaurant.
Our neighbors. Actually, one of my neighbors works there, and
she made the reservations for us, which was very nice
for them to do that. So we did that that day.
The next day it was, uh, it was go to Clearwater. Uh.
And then when we got back from Clearwater, I'm like,
I'm hungry again. Like it was a two hour drive back,
and I was I was hungry again. So we got
on the boat and went over to old Man Franks

(21:20):
and ran into Rodney the Gator Hunter. I had not
seen Rodney in forever. And uh, he sat around and
talk to him for a long time, and we did
shots and and celebrated and uh and I gotta say
man once again. All the people in Winterhaven, like everywhere
I went ran into a Monster fan, like every single player.
We were laughing about it. Like every place we stopped,
we ran into fans of the show, which was very nice,

(21:41):
and and everybody was saying happy anniversary, which was cool. Uh.
And then the next day it was just it was
a Sunday, and I was all prepared, like, okay, listen,
I gotta watch the Dolphins game. I know they're gonna lose.
I know this is gonna suck. But you know, after
the Dolphins game, we'll, uh, we'll watch that Frankenstein movie.
But I got I gotta watch the Dolphins game. And
that's the way I've got to watch a Dolphins game
from now on is just go ahead and think they're

(22:03):
gonna lose, and then when they accidentally win, it's more fun.
It made it made it exciting. I'm like, oh, look,
when I go into it thinking they're gonna win, that's
you know, they lose, it looks it's terrible. That that way,
it was a hell of a lot of fun. And
surprisingly they beat the They beat the Bills, and I
have several Bill's friends, like a monster. Mags was texting

(22:24):
me and my buddy Julio and Jesse the fiddle player,
because they're all they're all Bills fans, and they were
like ragging me before the game, and then during the game.
I was able to get him back, you know, because
the Dolphins killed him. And Mary Allen said, listen, if
you want, let's drive to the Dolphins game and we
can go, or we can go to the Bucks game.
You know, if you want to go on Sunday, it's

(22:44):
our anniversary weekend. You know, let's do something special. And
I'm like, you know, I think I'll just think even
have more fun just to sit here. And I cooked
out on the Big Green Egg and and just stayed
at home. So then you know, watch the game. That
was good. I cooked out did a great job making
stakes because I've got it down because I used the
suvie first, and then from the suvie, I throw it
on the big Green Egg and you know, char both

(23:06):
sides and made the perfect steak, which was awesome. And
then we watched that the Frankensign movie that is on Netflix,
and I gotta tell you, man, it's awesome. I don't
know if either one of you had seen it yet
or not, but it's like watching an art piece. I
mean like it really like visually it's really really cool.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
He changed up the story a little bit and gave
it like a backstory. I really really liked it. I
can tell by the look on your face that you
did not agree with me though.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
That movie was ass Really yeah, it's funny. Really I
loved it, you know what it is.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
I absolutely loved it. I thought I thought it was
so good. I was like, this is the best Frankensign movie.
The only thing I would have done different. One thing
is I would have put bolts in his neck.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Other than that, he has to get man, he's garbled
el Toro. He's not doing bolt neck Frankistan.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
But you know what I and I'm really shocked you
didn't like it.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
The back was first half, and when I had to
hear the Frankenstein side of it.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
Oh they get get his side like it hit from
his point of view. Oh my god, I really thought
it was a great movie.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
They first of all, I Angel, I don't know if
you have this problem too, Like when you see like
a tall guy in the movies and then you google
how tall he is and he's like six three, but
he looks like a freak, right, that has nothing to
do with the movie, but it bothers the same thing
with Vince Von. Vince vond is like six four or something.
But when you see Vince Von in the movie, he
looks so big and that was always gonna takes you

(24:28):
out of it.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
It takes me out. But it's a visual. It's the visual.
He's supposed to look big.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
And then I'm googling everybody's height in this movie.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Has nothing to do with whether the movie is good
or not.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
It has a lot to do with whether the movie.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
The reason the only reason I agree with him on
this part.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
So I watched, like about a week or two ago,
I watched The Ballerina, which is supposed to be in
the john Wick universe, right and instantly and uh Anna
Anna to Arms is the actress. She's a fantastic actress.
She had a bit scene in what one of the
Bond movies that was believable, and again it was an
action scene in a Bond movie. And in that scene,
I was like, Okay, under this premise, I believe her

(25:09):
that her character could pull this off. Watching her as
Ballerina in the john Wick universe, she's too small, Yeah,
see that? And then totally again, cool movie, cool effects, cool,
all the things are cool. All her scenes, all her
fight scenes, everything. I got taken out of the movie
because I was like, she's way too little to be
doing well.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
In Frankenstein, he's supposed to be really tall and guess what,
he's also supposed to be dead Ryan, and he wasn't
really dead. It's it's fantasy, and in the fantasy he's
really big.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Yeah. I don't like. I don't like a slightly hot Frankenstein.
You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (25:45):
They made they made him better looking because they want
to make you more simple.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
And then he wasn't like big and wide like a Franken.
He was like Lankenstein. It's super lanky.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
And see you comparing him to this one. I got
my shirt on my voice. Car up, that's a Frankenstein baby.
This is this is a new interpretation.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
I agree.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
I would have put the bolts in his neck. I
would have done that.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
But other than that, that's the way. The same way.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
I don't like sparkly hot vampires from Twilight, but I
like the real vampire.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
I don't like a lanky, sexy frank What do you
think about?

Speaker 2 (26:14):
They gave him a backstory of why, you know, doctor
Franken segn was the way that he was, and then
he ends up treating his beast like his like his
dad treated him. It was it was really it was
more in depth than you probably a little too smart formart,
frank Yeah, it was smart, Frank. I saw I saw that.
They have the the cut, the director's cut where he
explains why he did everything too, and how every color

(26:37):
of every in every scene has a reason and everything
I thought. I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
I was surprised when I watched the behind the scenes
thing that they did make so many things practically, because
when I watched it it looked very CGI.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Yeah, but everything was practical, Like they built that ship,
they built that Frankensin's castle, they built all that. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:57):
I was really surprised because I was like watching the movie,
I was like, this is very bad CGI. So then
to like see that it was real, I was so confused.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
They could have CG. I didn't saved a lot of money.
I know, he went over budget and and built all
that stuff. I thought that was another amazing part of it.
I mean, I really really liked it. It's so funny
that I liked the behind the scenes better than I
liked the movie, which is which is crazy. I mean,
and my wife bud.

Speaker 5 (27:21):
Full of people that are texting in that kind of
had to agree with Ryan. As soon as it got
to the Frankston point of view part of the movie,
I turned it off.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
Yeah, I don't know what it was. I actually enjoyed
it up until, like I have you made this talk.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
If you turned it off, then you missed the best
part of the movie, which was the second part of
the movie when he meets the old man. He meets
the old blind guy and and uh the.

Speaker 5 (27:41):
Other Texter as a fellow tall person. I one agree
with Ryan and throws the whole movie off for me.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
There we go, let's point out the people that agree
with Ryan. Who else? Ryan, Yeah, here's the first one.
But what about the one that says to Russ it
was fantastic. You're right, Russ, there's the first one. It
was a great movie. This is the from the temp
isn't coming up? Yeah? Yeah, all I'm saying is I
really really matter of fact. I was dreaming about it
last night. I liked it so much.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
You love a Frankenstein.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
I do love a Frankenstein. And you would think that
I would be like you, that I would be like, oh,
it's not true to the original. But I like the
fact that he was like put together with all, you know,
I mean, it was a different interpretation. The guy is
a genius. Del Toro is a genius, and the visual
of the of the colors and everything.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
I just thought I kind of wish the roles were
reversed though. What do I mean, like I felt Christoph
Waltz was highly underused. He's such a bit should have
been the fran he should have been Victor Frankenstein.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
I could see that. But I thought the guy that
played Victor Frankenstein was really good.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Sure, he did a good job. My problem with the
acting in this movie.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
They put that weird prosthetic on Christoph waltzs so I
couldn't really tell it was him at first, and then
I was like, why not have him as Frankenstein. He'd
been fantastic Frankenste' That's but it was. It was a
Frankenstein with long Frankenstein movie too.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
You know what. I didn't feel like it was too long.
I was like, oh, wow, we're almost done. Like I
super enjoyed it. We'll see how it does. They put
it in movie theaters so it could be nominated for
an Academy Award. Let's see if it gets nominated.

Speaker 5 (29:06):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
I would have to think just for the visual stuff,
it's gonna have to be nominated because visually it was
I mean, you did like that part of it, right.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
It was like it was if I was going to
rate it stars five out of ten, you know, and it.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Was it was those one of the best movies I've
seen this year. Really really did Yeah, interesting, I really did.
Uh and uh the story made it made Frankenstein make
sense of why doctor Frankstein was the way that he
was because his dad was so horrible to him and
and and that whole thing. So I don't know. I
super enjoyed it. But it's out now if you haven't

(29:44):
seen it. Oh, but on a on a flip note,
and we can talk about this when we get back.
Damn it. I hate this, but the christ the Christie
movie Sorry Now, City Sweetey was one of the worst
opening weekends in the history of movies for a film
released with an over two thousd theaters. So I haven't
seen it. When we come back, all this did you
guys tell me why you think it didn't do I mean,

(30:05):
it's not that it didn't do well. It it's one
of the worst thousand, one of the worst in history, thinks.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
Thousand on a thirty million dollar budget.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
Yeah, we could talk about that when we come back.
Don't go anywhere. You're listening to the Mantras in the morning, Hey,

(30:33):
welcome back to the Mantras Warnings. We're Radio one oh
four point one broadcasting live on iHeartRadio. If you want
to text us, you can a lot of people texting us.
They they saw Franklin sign this weekend on Netflix. It's
a you know, it's one of the like Netflix paid
for this right, Like it's a Netflix movie. So when
the when they when we heard stories about it going
over budget, was that Netflix that was paying for it?

(30:55):
Is that how that works?

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Well?

Speaker 3 (30:57):
I magine though.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (30:58):
I think the movie made three hundred and forty five
dollars gross domestic one hundred and forty four thousand worldwide,
with a budget of one hundred and twenty million, making
a full break even unlikely from its theatrical run.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
And that's from box office. Yeah, the theatrical. They didn't
really talk about it being in the theaters that much.
I didn't even know it was in the theaters. I
think they, from what I read or saw, they did
that just so it could be considered for an Academy Award.
They really they just want Netflix to get some big,
some big shine, you know. But anyway, it's out if

(31:30):
you haven't seen it. I really really liked it. I
thought it was awesome and the visual of it is
really really good.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
But it wins a visual award, Is that a really
a testament to the movie if it just wins, because
Giirmar del Toro has won visual awards in the past
for some of his other movies.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
And he considered an Academy Award winner.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
So you made me feel like I saw a completely
different movie because like the visually, I like Germel del
Tour's style, Like I love Pans Labyrinth, Shape.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
Of Water, like all those very good movies.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
This one they did did that thing that movies do
now where it's either all Golden Hour or like all
kind of blue light when it's nighttime and it's I
was like, this looks like rushed in a way, like
they didn't like the shots, seemed unfinished. I'd be very
surprised if it won an award from people who know
how to look at this stuff.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
I disagree. I thought it was really good. But so
going back to the Christie movie, uh it is. According
to this it was one of the worst openings opening
weekends in the history of films, and the film was
releasing over two thousand theaters. So why now, Obviously I
want to see it because I know Christy Martin right,

(32:40):
it's and that's the only reason. And you guys all
said it was a great movie. Why would And it's
got Sidney Sweeney, who we're told is the is the
hot thing in Hollywood, So why why do you think
it tanks so well?

Speaker 3 (32:55):
Angel said it. It's uh, there was no advertising for
this movie.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Promotion was or just to know. I just said I
did see promotion on TMZ and on Access Hollywood. I
don't know if that counts or not. I did see
promotion there.

Speaker 5 (33:07):
No, it wasn't online, it wasn't on social media platforms.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
It caught fire like a year ago when Sorry coming out,
but after that nothing.

Speaker 5 (33:17):
Yeah, and then if you're just to go off of
texting evil, I feels that, uh, we know, like the
show knows Christie, but most people don't and they don't
care Alan the Oracles husband, it's because of America has
fake love for Sweeney. Plus no one pays attention to
boxing anymore, especially female boxing. He feels that UFC took

(33:37):
over the female fight scene. So that's why the reason
people wouldn't go see this.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
I was to the reason I didn't go take Mary
Ellen to go see it was because talk talking to
Savannah and then talking to you guys, and it's mostly
about domestic violence, and like Savannah said, it really triggered her,
and she said it was a good movie, but it
triggered her and had her and like Maryland, didn't want
to see that, So I could, you know, that's one
of the reasons we didn't go to the movie theater.

(34:01):
Do you think because it's about domestic violence that people
don't want to see that?

Speaker 4 (34:06):
Uh? I can't, man, I didn't know anything about Chrissy
Martin before being on this show.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
One hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (34:13):
I never heard the story, and I imagine a lot
of people didn't either because it's from early nineties.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
So I don't know. It's a great movie.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
I've really enjoyed the movie Domestic Violence one way or
the other. We watched a ton of stuff of violence
in it, so I don't. I think America loves violence,
so that's kind of our thing. So I don't know.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
So if the movie people hate Sidney Sweeney right now, I.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Tell you that, why do they dislike her so much?

Speaker 4 (34:37):
The Jeans add that she did, and then doubling down
the fact that she people don't like her because she's
a maga person. People don't like her because currently she's
dating another terrible person, Scooter Braun, she met at Jeff
Bezos's wedding.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Right, Okay, okay, well come to play.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
Yeah yeah, and that will happened like like within months
before the release of this movie, you know what I mean.
Like it's just bad time, like three or four bad
things about her. Uh yeah, that's real good.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
Yeah. I also, I like, I like The Rock, but
I didn't want to see The Smashing Machine either. So
maybe it's like you got Sydney Sweeney who is known
for being bombshell good looking whatever, and she's trying to
win an Academy Award where they're dressing her down and
not making her look so pretty. Maybe that doesn't sell tickets. Yeah,
you know, like with The Rock, like I don't want
to see a rock doing a serious movie and like

(35:24):
I want to see him be funny, so I didn't.
I haven't even watched it at home yet.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (35:29):
It's it's unfortunate. It's like it's horrible for our you know,
worst movie opening of all time because it's a good
movie that maybe I should have just been on Netflix.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
I don't know, but like it's it's it's a really
good movie. I really enjoyed it. People aren't gonna see.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
It something said for that, I think, I think you
just hit it right on the head. Some movies you
just for now. This is just the way of the
world now. Some movies are like, yeah, I'll go to
the theater and see that one, and other movies like
I'll watch it when it comes on one of the
you know platforms that I have, because I can watch
it at home, right, and that might be what's happens.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
It would definitely be number one on Netflix, right.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Yeah, So I don't know, see, and I think the
Frankensin movie would have done better if it were promoted
and put in the movie theaters. But it wasn't the theaters.
It wasn't in that many theaters, and they only put
it in a limited amount because visually it would look
good on a screen. But uh, but yeah, that's that
the Unfortunately, the Christy movie did not do well. Okay,
just because it didn't do well in the theaters, that

(36:24):
doesn't mean that Sidney Sweeney can't be nominated for.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
This is her third bomb. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
I don't think anybody's not, especially the way Hollywood is
you know, they're not giving Sydney Sween nothing you know,
think no, just basic idea ideologically.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
Because of her political views. Huh, that's not fair. Well,
I mean, if she did like you got you saw it,
do you think she deserves nomination for her acting ability
in the movie Christy.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
It's hard for me to say, because I know Christy Martin.
Christy Martin was there. There was an energy and a
vibe to that particular theater that evening. I don't know
if I didn't know anything about it and I saw it,
if I, like unbiasedly would think that I don't know,
Like I was like, this is the greatest movie I
ever seen. When I watched it and it was clapping
Christy Martin's there, I'm like, this is grat movie I've

(37:11):
ever seen.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
Deserves all the Oscars. Yeah, but I don't I know
I'm being biased.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
But here's the thing. The way you feel about something
at the time comes into play, right because I will
say this. When I went to go see the Fantastic
Four movie at the movie theater, I didn't really like
it that much, and then I wat I hated it,
and then I watched it at home. I'm like, Oh,
I actually like this movie, like like like I was
in a better mood.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
Maybe I was.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
I wasn't worried about, you know, because mary Ellen didn't
really want to go because she doesn't like you know,
and so I was worried about her being forced to
watch it, you know. And when I watch it on
my own at my house, I enjoyed the Fantastic Four movie.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
They wasted that actress who played the Silver Surfer, Like
I was like, why even have her in it at all?

Speaker 4 (37:49):
Like what one flashback where they show her other than
that she's a cgi nonsense person.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
All Right, we're gonna take a break and we come
back in his trivia time. It's your chance to win
some stuff, so you might want to get on the line.
