Speaker 1 (00:01):
What was that?

Speaker 2 (00:02):
This is another one of those things where Ryan's convinced
he can do it. And we all can see that
he can.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
And we're all catching strays because of his craziness.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Yeah, you shouldn't have caught that stray. Welcome back to
the Monsters Mornings. We're Radio 104.1. I'm Russ Rollins, along
with Flying Ryan Holmes. He's so fast.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Yeah. Amy, the counselor's here with us. Hello, Amy. How
you doing?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Good.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
What's happening? You guys are having a race? Oh, I'll
tell you all about it.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I can't wait.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
We got all kinds of counseling questions to talk to
you about.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Oh, boy.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I'm so glad you're here. So happy to be here.
Angel now is going to bring you Monster Sports.

Speaker 5 (00:36):
Monster Sports brought to you by Mark Spain Real Estate.
That's Mark Spain Real Estate. Man, if you're looking to
buy or sell a house, definitely jump on their website
and check that out. And if you're looking for employment,
they are hiring. So again, visit the website. And again,
thank you, Mark Spain, for jumping onto the Monster Sports.
Let's start with, hold on a second. Here on a

(00:59):
local level, we had Orlando City. Orlando City was on
the road, and it's always fascinating when we have these matchups. And, again,
with the acquisition of Griezmann, you know, and the way
that the team is kind of gelling, it's been really
fun to watch.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
And this was his first goal last night. Here's Dorsey.
Works it ahead. Gerbet with his service, and there's your
tying goal. Guess who? Antoine Griezmann, the level for Orlando City.
It's a 1-1 game.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
So they get the level goal, Russ, and then that's
just the beginning of the festivities or the fireworks as
it goes on. Uh, 70, it goes, uh, full time
and Orlando city ends up winning a three to two.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
Again, that's a huge, um, victory in the sense of
getting the three points on the road, you know?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Um, and that puts us now.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
And just a few weeks ago, we were hanging around
ninth or 10th position in the Eastern conference and the
last few, uh, wins and, you know, get our acquisition,
getting a point, even with the tie Orlando city has
moved up to a sixth in, uh, the Eastern conference
of the MLS. So, uh, Again, the momentum is starting
to build there and they're playing really good ball and

(02:14):
definitely keep an eye out for them. And then we're
in our next matches this Saturday. I want to say, yeah,
we went up three to two and then our matches
this Saturday going up here at home and we're going
up against Toronto, Toronto, September the 12th at intern co-stadium.
Those were the tickets that we were giving away.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Yeah. Okay, good. And then we had some NFL action, Russ.
I saw that. Yeah. And man, a tale of two
halves almost, as one would say.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
But.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Oh, that's your team, the Patriots. Yeah. Patriots are on
the road. It's the same. The Super Bowl. Defending champs.
A rerun from the Super Bowl, right? Yep. We actually
did better than in the Super Bowl this time. Did you?
I mean, we were up for three halves, right?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Three quarters? Three quarters. Three quarters, yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
And then Seattle Seahawks come storming back and win 13-10, Russ.
That last play, man. Drake made through three interceptions. Looking rough.
Drew Locke had to step in for the Seahawks because
their quarterback went down with a hip injury. But all
indications are he's going to be all right. The prognosis

(03:26):
from the first scans of that.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Ryan, how much of the game did you watch? uh
i watched exactly zero of the game i.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Just saw this morning that you know they had on
uh nbc the uh the game they talked about how
close it was and it was a nail biter and
then they showed the last play and um and uh
yeah he threw an interception.

Speaker 5 (03:45):
And that's it's not the look that you wanted from
your quarterback you know you don't ever want on the
game one the one thing that you don't want them
to do is exhibit a lack of patience and throw
three interceptions.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
But i mean like it was You didn't bet on him,
did you? I didn't bet on him.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
I didn't bet against him, which I wanted to do.
But look, we're facing the Super Bowl champs from last
year that we did very bad in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Very, very bad.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
So to play the same team and come out. With
a reasonable score, it feels good. I'm not going to
lie to you. It feels like we're going to the
Super Bowl again. Really?

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Let's go.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
That's a really interesting take from watching your team kind
of ask the bed last night in the sense that
they had control of the game.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
They were.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
potentially, I mean, they had the victory in hand. You
had the second string quarterback for Seattle in, you had
knocked out their starter.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
That's what we do. Right. Knock out your starters. And
then we go. And we're like Sylvester Stallone, baby. We're punchy.
And we like to ask the bed.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Ah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I see a pattern here. That's a real rumor, by
the way. You can look that one up.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I'm going to talk to Amy about the words delusional. Okay,
write that down. An S in the back.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Delusional.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
5K.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
The Patriots. Okay, delusional. Okay, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Now, because of it being, again, the NFL started on
Wednesday yesterday.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Yeah. And then today we get a game, and here's
what's fascinating about this game.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
It's one of those things where, like, the game's, If
you're at the game, you're watching the game. On Sunday.
And on Friday. On Friday. But here, we're watching the game.
We're going to be watching it today, Thursday. Time travel. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
So we can peer into the future to watch this game.
And we're talking about the 49ers versus Rams, and that's
going to be tonight at 835.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, so two teams from California flew all the way
to Australia to play.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
So there's two theories being tested here. That's what I've
been trying to explain all week. San Francisco 49ers have
been in Australia for a week.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Right. The Chargers basically got there yesterday.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Right.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
So, yeah, they're trying to get they thought, let's get
acclimated to the time.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
And then they're like, let's just fly in and we
don't have time to have, you know.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah, we're just going to run right through it. Yeah,
it was crazy. Like a local time. The football game
starts at 1030 in the morning. Local time.

Speaker 5 (06:13):
So again, so there's a lot, you know, now let
me ask you guys this in regards to, and it may,
it might not affect you since it's, you know, neither
one of your teams, you're a fan of those teams.
How do you feel about like, this is, these are
important games and like, you know, messing around, but like,
you know, New England Patriots, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback went down,

(06:34):
your receiver, the Patriots receiver went down with an ankle injury.
like games in the nfl are important especially if you're
a good team this is a really big matchup and
you kind of just gave it away to australia yeah
does that like it doesn't it doesn't bother us because
it's not what it's not our team right i.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Will say for me this is me i want to
see the nfl become a.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Global worldwide brand uh so i kind of like yeah
let's give other countries cte No, no, no.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
The players are going to get what they're going to get.
I like the game of football, and I'd like to
see the rest of the world dig it as well.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
I'm never happy.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
I think they'll keep trying and trying for sure, but
it just doesn't have the same.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
The numbers are there. There hasn't been one of these
that's been poorly attended.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Oh, they've all been very successful. They've all been sellouts.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
I think it's like a novelty right now. You know
what I mean? I feel that way. The fever for
the type of game isn't the same. Especially Australia, I think,
specifically views it as a lesser game than the way
they play it.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
Okay, yeah. Of course that is.

Speaker 5 (07:39):
I don't know where that's coming from in the sense
of if that would be the case, then why is it.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
So crazy attended?

Speaker 5 (07:45):
And there's like a fever for the Aussies are excited
about it.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
It's a circus. Comes to town. You want to see
the big American circus.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
But then at that point, that's a success then. I mean,
if it's a circus and you've sold out every ticket.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah, because in London, they've never had... And they've been
doing it for a while. Every game is sold out.
They're digging it up.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
You saw the reception that they get in Germany. In Germany, yeah.
Mexico City.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
Again, it's a fun novelty, but until there's teams from
around the world, there's no dog in the.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Fight, really. I.

Speaker 5 (08:22):
I don't know the league's plan on developing or adding
more teams, especially international teams. But this is the same
way like with Premier League, that Premier League gives us
matches and those matches are well attended here. And those are,
let's say, lesser because they're friendlies. And that's the point
or the question I was asking. These regular season games

(08:42):
that are so valuable for records.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
And we're giving those away. Those should be preseason.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
Yeah, whereas Premier League does it differently. And we get
those cool matchups, but typically they're friendlies.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
What if they did hold those and only did those
for the– because we all scoff at preseason anyway. What
if they did all their preseason stuff overseas just to
kind of.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Give it– Yeah, let's give them the trash. I think
they would know the difference. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Here's the other problem. Europeans, Australians, Indians– All these people.
They're used to faster games. Our game to them is
very slow, and that was the biggest complaint that a
lot of people had with the World Cup. They're like, hey,
why are you guys throwing ads into everything? The hydration breaks, everything.
They're used to the ads on the field. They go

(09:29):
about their business fast games. Our game is literally four
hours for the most part, and it's so much stoppage time.
I just think a European mindset, Australian mindset, they're just
used to something faster. I think it's a fun novelty
for right now. I don't know if it'll take off.
Hasn't the NFL had a European League before?

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Yeah, it did well. Where'd it go?

Speaker 5 (09:49):
The World Football League. We had the Barcelona Dragons. The
Barcelona Dragons. We had.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
We had the Orlando Thunder. Yeah, there was a couple...
The reason that league... Again.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
like typical any fall football league, the reason with the
demise of it was the management of it.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
I'm speaking out of my butt. I know that, okay?

Speaker 4 (10:09):
I don't have any hard, fast facts on this. But
that's my theory of why. My other theory of soccer,
it would take off more if you change the point system.
If you made every goal seven points, people would be like, oh,
high scoring game.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Yeah, Russ would. Russ would.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
If you think of football last night, the game was what,
13 to what was it?

Speaker 1 (10:31):
I don't even remember because I'm mad at it. 10
to 13. That's literally two points. For one team.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Yeah, but if someone catches the ball and you get
to 20 yards or 30 yards, it's exciting then. There's
a lot of things that happen in a football game
that are still exciting. Soccer is very exciting. Okay, that
is your opinion and I get it. And most of
the world agrees with you. But just for me, them
kicking a ball around the field is boring as hell.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
But you know, if they brought up the point value,
a goal is, you know, instead of a tie, you
would call it like 7-7. And then a goal, like
every time you get a goal, it's 14 points.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Not one person gets sacked in soccer. People get sacked.
You can tackle them. You get red.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Cards, buddy.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
Anyway, so we got, like I said, we got that
matchup today, and then we're going to have a full
slate of college and NFL this weekend, and that's Monster Sports, Russ.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Hey, today, just so you know, USA, because I love
the women's basketball.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
I'm following it. I love it.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Today at 530, it's USA versus Hungary. This is the
second round, I think. What is this called? Like the preliminaries? Quarterfinal.
The quarterfinal. for Team USA. So we've won all three
of our games so far, and today we go against Hungary.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
We already beat Hungary. No. Yeah. No, they're playing them today.

Speaker 5 (11:44):
Team USA rolls into semifinal with dominant 52-point win over Hungary.
I was going to use that as Monster Sports.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
When do they play? They already played.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
They're going to play the winner of Italy or.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
No, we beat Italy. Or, I'm sorry, who's on the
other side of it? Spain and somebody else is on
the other side. Australia and Hungary.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
Yeah, Australia and Spain is on the other side of
the bracket. We played the winner of that on Saturday. Yeah,
we beat the crap out of Hungary. 108 to 56.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
I'm hungry right now. Hold on. The U.S.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Versus Hungary Women's World Cup quarterfinal starts today at 5.30.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
No.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Russ, it's already been. That was yesterday. High travel happened?

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Remember, they're on the other side of the world. It's
already happened. So I missed the game?

Speaker 4 (12:27):
That or we got like a Biff Tannen situation right
now that we can go and bet on.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Back to the future style. Yeah. Thursday, September 12th. Oh,
that's this morning at 530. Darn it.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Oh, wow.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
So it was going on this morning. Yes, sir. Yeah,
you could have been watching it during the show. Spoiled
the outcome for you. Oh, so I don't get to
watch that tonight. You can re-watch it. Ended at 746
this morning. Spoiler, Russ, they win. So we beat Hungary
by what? 52 points. Oh, okay. Call us or zemp it,
because we beat Hungary. Okay, good. All right. So I
didn't know. Damn it. I didn't get to see that.

(13:04):
I mean, you can still watch it.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
I'm going to see how old Caitlin Clark did.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
All right. Well, there you go. So I don't have
that to watch today. Damn it, man. I feel like
I ruined your day. Way to go, Angel. No, it's okay.
I'm glad you told me. You know what? I'm looking
at it. It's 5.30 a.m., not noon. Yeah, 5.30. It's 2.30.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
Yeah, you would have been looking around TV like a
maniac trying to find this game.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
100%.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
As a matter of fact, I already told Mariel, hey,
there's a game tonight. We can watch at 5.30.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
I had no idea they had the game. this morning
so they already won so um correct okay all right
so we're getting closer and closer to the finals very
good all right we'll take a little break we got
that we got amy the counselor with us don't go
anywhere you're listening to the match of.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
The morning hey hey hey i hope.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
You're having a great thursday it's weekend eve this saturday

say hi doors open at three it's a free event

Speaker 2 (13:59):

I don't have money to come to the wrestling, I
want to see it.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Well, guess what? You can see it. And Angel and

And then Amber Nova will be defending her title as well.
And then Poppy D's wrestling. So come on out and
check it out. It'll be a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
What's up? I'm Russ, Angel, and Ryan, and Amy, the
counselor here with us today. How you doing, Amy? Good.

Speaker 6 (14:27):
How are you guys doing?

Speaker 1 (14:28):
How much do you know about sports? How did you.

Speaker 6 (14:30):
See me glaze over when you guys were talking about sports?

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Well, you know, yeah, I'm just curious because a lot
of people, there are people that are into it.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Some people aren't. And I'm curious, is there a team
you root for?

Speaker 3 (14:41):
I like watching sports documentaries. I like 30 for 30.
I like to know the story behind sports and I
like the Olympics. I like ice skating. My husband's really
into basketball, so I'll sit next to him and pretend
to like it.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Gotcha.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
So when you're watching a sport, you like the personal
human story. I like stories. I like glitter. I like dancing.
That's everything I like. Do you?

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
So wrestling.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Basically, I like wrestling. You know, I like gymnastics. I
like Olympic stuff. I like it when there's like a
big title. You know, I'll watch the Super Bowl. I'm
a fair weather fan sport.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Have you ever bought a piece of memorabilia of a team?

Speaker 3 (15:19):
I recently bought some vintage little ice cream hats. Do
you remember how we used to get the little vintage?

Speaker 1 (15:25):
What?

Speaker 4 (15:25):
No.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
You remember, you remember like when you go to a
baseball game, you'd get the little ice cream with the
plastic plastic ones. So I got a little Pittsburgh one.
I thought that was cute. Cause it reminded me of
my youth.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
All right. Yeah. So you're a pirates fan. No, I'm
a vintage. I like the nostalgia. I like ice cream.

Speaker 6 (15:41):
I do like the food. I like the food at sports.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (15:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
That's the best line ever. Sports food. That's what I
wanted to talk to you about. Okay. So they kind
of come down. I like sports food too. I like
hot dogs. They come down on me because they're like, well,
you're not a real sports fan. Oh, they do? All
the time. And I think, I know that they're right though.
I know that they're right. Cause I see how they act.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
You know, I see how Angel. acts and they, they really,
it doesn't matter who's on the team. It's like, whoever's
wearing that logo that I'm a fan of that. And
I can't identify with that. Like I like to pull
for a particular athlete that I think I admire the story.
So if that athlete went to another team, I'd be
in this year, like the Miami dolphins, I decided to

(16:23):
root for the Miami dolphins because my nanny, I love
my nanny. She was a big dolphins fan. And when
she passed away, I said, I'm going to carry it
on for her. But to be honest with you, this year,
I know they're going to suck. And I want to
find a team I can root for that's going to win.
Because it's so fun to sit there and watch a
team lose. So what does that say about my personality?

Speaker 6 (16:43):
That you want to go with the winning horse, I guess.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Frontrunner.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yeah, a frontrunner. You don't want to experience suffering. People
that are real fans. Kind of a douche.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
People that are real fans are going to be mad. See,
so my family are Patriots fans because they're all from Boston.

Speaker 5 (17:01):
Right.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
So I will go for Patriots even if they've been
terrible for so many years.

Speaker 6 (17:06):
And I'm a Magic fan because I've lived here my
whole life.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
Sure. But I don't really care. You don't really care. Oh,
that's unfortunate.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
I'm sorry. Okay, so I like this guy, Josh Allen,
who's a great quarterback. But I guess he's on the bills.
And I guess if you're a Dolphins fan and you
say you like Josh Allen, everybody gets mad. because the
bills can keep you out of the playoff. But I
like the guy's personality. I like how, I like how
hard he plays. I think he's a great athlete. Like I,
I appreciate his, him as an athlete. So Amy, this

(17:34):
is the dilemma, right? So, and this is, you kind
of acknowledged it right out. You said it right out
the gate. You were like, Hey, I'm kind of a
fair weather fan.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Yeah. I like these things. I like these other things.

Speaker 5 (17:44):
The entertainment value of it, yeah. And so that's what
Russ has to come to terms with. Just right out
the gate, just say it. Hey, I'm a Fairweather fan.
Don't give us the song and dance it. I'm a
fan of the Dolphins because of my nanny. And then
not really commit to it.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
But that's true.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
But you're not. Like, if they're playing, that's who I'm
rooting for, right? Yeah, but you've proven. I can look
at them, Angel, and I can tell that they might
win one game this year.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
They look terrible already.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
Okay. And then we get into the other elements of this, right?
Because if they were a winner, he would be all
about it, right? So again, fair.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Someone like Angel doesn't respect that, right? Because you're going
to be with them in the trenches, so you're a fan.
And then someone comes along and just is there for
the winning seasons.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
You're not going to respect that.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
But like she said, hey, I'm a Fairweather fan this
year because I love Josh Allen. And I know that
the Dolphins are going to stink.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
I'm going to root for them. I'm going to root
for the Bills. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (18:38):
But say that. Don't try to say, oh, I'm a
fan of the Dolphins. Okay, I should say I root
for the Dolphins.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Well, here's what it is. No, you don't.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
For someone like Angel and Ryan, it's kind of like
their soap opera. Like, this is, like, really important to them.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
The way that you are about WWE, fool. You know
what I mean?

Speaker 6 (18:55):
This is, like, their life. They have nothing else. So
they really have to, like.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
Care about it deeply. You know what I mean? We
have lots of other things. I'm sorry. A lot of
boys have nothing else to live for but their sports teams. Gotcha.

Speaker 6 (19:05):
And they're in the trenches with them.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
This is a lady who won't let us celebrate our birthday. No,
you just can't say it's me. weird day.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
That's all.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
You just can't say it.

Speaker 5 (19:12):
There's no fun lady who went out and bought a
little ice cream cone that looked like a Pittsburgh Pirates cap.

Speaker 6 (19:17):
All of a sudden you turn to no fun lady.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
I have fun. Now they're offended.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
They can't handle it. I'm glad Rush has all the
tendencies of an angry middle-aged woman.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
All of a sudden I had to disagree one time
and I'm an angry middle-aged woman.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
What happened to no judgment? You shot at us first. Yeah,
I don't know. Don't expect us not to return fire.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
I'm not even looking forward to the NFL season because
they've already been predicted that they might win one game.
They're going to lose every game. It makes every Sunday
not fun. And that's why I want to, life is short, right?
Like I want to find a fun team to root for.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Yeah, root for the Bills. Go for it. The Buffalo.
You know what?

Speaker 5 (20:02):
If there's one thing I know about Buffalo Bills fans,
they're going to accept you with open arms.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
And I've got a bunch of friends that are Buffalo fans.
There you go. So I've got two things.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
One thing, Russ, you're going for that hedonistic thing that
we talked about. You always want to feel good. Yes.
And that's not a great thing, number one. Two, when
it comes to the guys, I feel like all they
had growing up was these sports fans. and it's like
their family.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
It's like a really deep-seated mental thing for men.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
You're talking about like, oh, I like to follow a player.
I don't just follow the logo.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
The logo is important because what I feel is like, oh,
this group of people was chosen by the logo to
represent the logo, to represent the city, the team, the
long history of fandom.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
I appreciate you pointing out that point of view.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
I never looked at it that way.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
Look at that.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Your psychology tools, man. No, I was serious. That's my psychology.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
It's true.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
He did the classic wrestling where he says the one thing,
but you could read right through the lines. He totally
meant that disingenuous. I totally meant what I just said.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
I agree with that. And then they were going to
try to.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
I know.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Whatever. I know. I never looked at it from that
point of view.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
You soften up for a minute, and you go to
his side, and then he can't handle it. I know.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Oh, okay. All right. He called me a middle-aged angry woman, so.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
but you know just like uh whatever i i know
i know i'm a bad sports fan uh but to me.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
You like to be in the know like me too
like i like to watch a documentary about it so
i can like talk about it sometimes but do i
care if someone wins or loses ultimately i don't i
could care less i like just to be there i
like to have a nice time right.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Predictions mean nothing remember hillary clinton.

Speaker 6 (21:41):
Angry middle-aged woman.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
But my husband gets annoyed by it. I'm just not
a competitive person either. If we go bowling, I just
like to throw the.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Ball a little. You don't care. I don't care.

Speaker 6 (21:53):
We get into a lot of fights about it.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
I can be competitive about things that I'm really passionate about,
but I am sort of like that too. Let's have
a nice time. I just want to play and have fun.
Unless it's something that's super important to me. When I wrestled,
that was super important.

Speaker 6 (22:08):
Nobody ever invites me to football parties.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
I never get invited.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
I know.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
I never get invited. That's unfortunate. That's sad.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
I don't want to come to your party.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
I want to come. Amy, if you're chit-chatting during the game, again.

Speaker 5 (22:22):
We're watching the game, Amy.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Amy, how does that make you feel? I left out,
I guess. Yeah, but I don't really care.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
I have my own friends. We'll go have our little
ice cream party by ourselves.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Oh, my God. Now I feel bad. You guys are
two kindred souls here. Oh, my God.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Look at how this is blossoming right in front of
our eyes. I do like pulling for athlete. I love
pulling for Caitlin Clark. If she went to another.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Team, I'd be... A lot of people love pulling for
Caitlin Clark.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Ryan.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Don't get creepy. It's already creepy. No, it's not.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
So I like pulling from particular athletes.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
Right.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (23:01):
And so, I mean, it's like you have the story
behind that person.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
What do you like about her?

Speaker 2 (23:07):
I like the fact that she was playing against the
boys when she was a kid and killing all the boys.
She's got a lot of drive and I like the
way she treats her fans.

Speaker 5 (23:18):
This is the little thing that you guys are doing
right here. I love how this is playing out. Oh,
I love the stories.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Oh, I love this. And that makes me a better fan. Again,
it's the implication. It's the implication. It's right there in
front of us.

Speaker 5 (23:33):
I'm a better fan because I like Caitlin Clark and
I like Clayton Caitlin Clark story. I'm a fan of
the Pittsburgh Steelers and I could tell you about every
single player on there.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
But Angel, don't you want us to support your people anyways?

Speaker 6 (23:46):
No, I do not.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
No, I do not.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
I do not want you to be a casual Steeler fan.
I want you to be vested. I want you to
feel something.

Speaker 6 (23:56):
So that's all or nothing thinking, though.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
I'm going to still give my money. Absolutely, it's Super
Bowl or bust.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
I'm still going to give my ice cream money and
it's still going to benefit the team if I'm there.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
That's not how that works. That's an insane sentence.

Speaker 5 (24:11):
So that Russ, because he hasn't found a story, and
there's plenty of good stories for the Dolphins. Particularly with
the quarterback. I'm looking for the stories.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
And this is what happens if you were to go
look for them. I have.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
You have not found one good story about your QB?
Because it's a dynamic story with your QB.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
QB1.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
I haven't seen anything yet. What story am I missing
with him? Just again, he came from a small college.
It shouldn't have been drafted. Goes to Green Bay. Green
Bay takes the Packers take a chance on him. He
studies under love.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
He's show some dot showed some aptitude to the quarterback
position last season.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
His three starts. He won those.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
He's like like if they protect that kid, he could
be your future superstar forever. But you're not going to
jump on it until someone else tells you that's your
superstar and that's the difference between fandom. Right now is
the time where you get in there and you grow
with the guy and you learn about the guy and
you do that and you don't wait until ESPN 30
for 30 tells you, oh, this guy's a star.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
That's a shot at both of you.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
I have gone, though, and I've watched the games that
he played and I've seen the things they've had to
say about him. It hasn't been wonderful. They're not saying
this guy's great yet. so you're right i'm just basically
i'm just kind of reading the reports from the games
that he's played so far all the other back stuff.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
You're talking about wait there's no there's nothing negative about
malik yet there he hasn't had any drama everything's been
positive well they've lost every game okay yeah the preseason
has been has been rough for him yeah he's played
and in practice there hasn't been reviews for him in
practice either so i it's not like when tua was
the quarterback there was all Oh, my God, this guy's great.

(25:51):
I got to do I will defer to you on
that regard, because, again, it's not my job to follow
the Dolphins or what's been going on in preseason. But
what I had heard and from other Dolphin fans, that's
where the excitement was, was Malik Willis and what he
has done. But again, that's neither here nor there. What
I'm saying is this is the part or the portion
of irrational fandom. This is where. That's your guy. That's

(26:12):
your QB. That's where you learn all these things.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
So you have to be irrational. No, no, no, no.
I am.

Speaker 5 (26:17):
No, again, I can acknowledge this. I am telling you.
I told you from day one years ago we started
doing this. I am the irrational fan when it comes
to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Orlando Magic, the Orlando City.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
But the irrationality is part of the fun.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
So what you guys are saying is, and Amy, so
to be a good fan, you have to be irrational, right?

Speaker 1 (26:40):
No, no. Die hard. Is that what they said? A
ride or die kind of situation. That ride or die
is a better way to put it. You got to
be ride or die. Yeah, you guys are awesome.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
Everybody else sucks. And when you see somebody from an
opposing tribe, you yell in their face.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
See, I can't do that for some reason. That's so fun.
That's so fun. I think it's pushing away people that
could come have a nice time is what I think.
And wear their little hats. Right, wear their little hats.
And eat ice cream out of little hats.

Speaker 6 (27:04):
You know what?

Speaker 1 (27:05):
You guys, big fans will bring a lady and have
a nice time.

Speaker 6 (27:08):
You don't want the ladies there.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
You don't want any girlfriends just sitting there watching. No,
not unless they're there to watch football. They're never there
to watch football. Then get out. They don't care.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
There's a lot of downtime for the yeah i want
to chat about a haircut i want to talk about
so amy amy.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
The counselor yes so they try to make me they
try to make me feel bad for not being an
irrational fan but i just can't fake.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
It i'd like you can't see that i think that's
okay and like you want to be a part of
it you want to go to the football game or
the sports game you'd like to be there.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
I told them though like at the very beginning i
said hey you want to go be a buffalo bills
fan do it just but just stand 10 toes down
and say hey the reason i'm on a buffalo bills
fan this year is because the dolphins stink and i
want to be with a winner that's it nine white
toes and one black toe down.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Oh, boy.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
All right. We'll have more. Captain Black Toe. I got
more questions. You got to explain Amy the reference, dude.
I got one Black Toe. I broke a toe. He
broke a toe, so now we call him Captain Black Toe. No,
I didn't. Yeah, I broke a toe last weekend. All right.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
We're going to take a break. We got Amy the
counselor here. I have more personal questions to ask you.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Can't wait.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
And you can decide fights that we've had for years
amongst the three of us when we come back.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
You're listening to the Macho of the Morning. Welcome back
to the Monsters Mornings. We're already at 104.1. I am
Russ Rollins, along with Angel Rivera, Ryan Holmes, and Amy,
the counselor, is here with us today.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
Amy, where are you going to be? Do you have
a show this Sunday?

Speaker 3 (28:39):
I do this Sunday at Savoy. It's a fringe outfest.
It's all to benefit the center, the... For the LGBTQIA.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
Very nice. Okay.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
I got a bunch. Whenever you're in, I got a
bunch of stuff. Let's see. Ryan being delusional.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
Hold on. I got that.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
I got the art of saying no. I've got giving
hard conversation. But since we got a little bit of time,
I'm going to ask you about this.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
Okay. There's a new story out. You guys may or
may not have seen this.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
This is a former lawyer, okay, who pulls a gun
on his ex-wife in a restaurant. Have you seen this yet? Yeah,
I saw this. It's in Ohio, and he's a big guy.
I mean, this is a big dude, a former attorney.
He walks in the restaurant. It's all on video. Walks
in the restaurant, goes to shoot her, but the safety

(29:27):
is on the gun, so it doesn't go off or whatever,
and there is a waiter that's behind him, and tackles
him and basically saves the day.

Speaker 4 (29:38):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
This is the personal weirdo part I want to ask
you about with me. Whenever I see these story like that, it,
I don't know if the feeling is jealous or whatever.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
I get a little jealous. I'm like, I wish I
was in that spot.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
That's the spot I would want to be. And I'm like,
I wish I could have saved the day like that
and have it on, have it on video. But then
I go, do you think you really would do it?
Cause the guy had a gun in his hand.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
What would you have done? What would I have done?
I really hope.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
And think that i'm the kind of guy that would
tackle this big dude and be the superhero and be
batman and save the day but i don't know for
sure like like how do you know if in the
situation you really could do that.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
Would you be able to have you ever done anything
like that and been in that situation.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Like i've never had the opportunity i'm looking for it
though no.

Speaker 7 (30:25):
Don't manifest that i'm searching for i would love that's
how a lot of guys trying to do the right
thing have gotten themselves in trouble so don't what do
you mean explain that in that mentality i'm looking to
do this i'm looking for this kind of scenario you
can't you can't look for that yeah that if it
happens and god you know and you're in the right
place at the right time to do the right thing well.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
When you first came on the show you did it
one time in downtown orlando okay but.

Speaker 5 (30:51):
Again but i i And this is a perfect example.
The difference between the terminology and the energies. And what
I'm talking about is the energies and the things that
you draw, right? You just said that you're looking for that.
You don't ever want to look for a situation that
could put your life in peril. This gentleman had a gun, right?
What happened to me downtown Orlando, again, I was working

(31:12):
downtown Orlando. I was aware of my surroundings. I knew
what was going on. And I walked up onto a
street fight.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
And you broke it up. And the street fight where
these guys were, they were just hurting each other.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:23):
And you saved the day. As I separated and I
did all that, I, again, maintained my.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Self-awareness.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
I kept my distance as best as I could and everything.
But I never put myself in arm's way.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Right.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
You know?

Speaker 5 (31:34):
Now, I guess it's just the terminology and the phrasing
of it, I'm saying, because that kind of energy.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
They.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
Talked to the guy that did it, the waiter, and
they said, well, you're a hero. He's like, I don't
look at it like that. I look at it like
I could have got shot. I don't want to be
called a hero. That's the best thing that dude could have.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Said, yes.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
And he's like, listen, I don't look at it as
being a hero. I did what I thought I had
to do at the time, but I'm not really celebrating it.
I'm like, dude, you should be spiking the football. You
just saved the day. You're a damn hero nationwide.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
Yeah, that's a different perspective. Have you seen it yet? Yeah, yeah. Oh,
my gosh. Have you seen it yet? No. Ryan had
it up here. Maybe you can pull it up again.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
I think what you have, I'm going to just make
this up on the spot, is you have like Batman syndrome.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (32:20):
Or Spider-Man syndrome.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
No, no, Batman.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
Batman.

Speaker 6 (32:23):
Looking for, to be a vigilante.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
She said it all, vigilante. Vigilante. Are you a vigilante?
Why are you making it all pretty for him? In
my mind, I'm like, okay, Russ, you think you want that.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
Right.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
But in the situation... would you really do it you.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
Know and if you wanted that you probably would have
gone into a career like being a police officer or something.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
You know i want that's what i wanted to do
after after high school and then i went on one
ride right with uh uh lane norman who was a
great guy who's passed away but he was an officer
that was really close with our family and so i'm
super i wanted to be a police officer until i
rode with him one time and i'm like oh my
god this is real stuff It's real. Like you could
get killed out here. And that's probably why I have

(33:10):
this affinity for law enforcement. Like I wanted to do it.
And I, and my family was very close.

Speaker 5 (33:15):
Like even in that scenario that this guy did it right.
Fortunate for him, he was able to disarm the guy
and handle all that.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
Right. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (33:21):
But, Like you just said, you went on this ride
along and it dawned on you that, wow, I could
lose my life. That scenario could have horribly gone wrong
and it could have been the wife and a server.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
What happened to that guy in a pop car? Like
domestic violence things, you got to be prepared. You got
to go in that thing knowing you're going to die, possibly.
That guy in a pop car just trying to help
what he thought was like a guy abusing his girlfriend
and then he gets killed.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
That's the case that just recently happened, right?

Speaker 5 (33:46):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (33:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
So like if you go in a situation like this,
you got to go like, I'm going to.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
Kill this guy. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
Deescalate. So, you know, you don't deescalate guy with a gun.
You got to go in there. Like I was prepared
to murder the units.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
I used to work on the psych units for a
lot of years and I would go to all the
state hospitals and all of us that were working there
were trained how to deescalate, how to do a takedown and,
How to roll somebody in a carpet so they don't
hurt themselves or somebody else.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
Oh, well, this dude, you couldn't roll this guy in
a carpet because he's bigger now. Yeah. He was a
big dude.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
But, you know, I noticed he wasn't, they weren't hitting
the guy or they were just trying to subdue him.
You know, they were kind of holding on to him.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
Right.

Speaker 6 (34:21):
That's how you de-escalate. So you're not making it worse.

Speaker 4 (34:23):
You're not de-escalating a guy with a gun that just
came into murder.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
I mean, you're not going to shoot at them. You're
not going to make it worse.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
I will.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
I will pick the gun up, shoot them right in
the husband's face. You're just trying to murder somebody.

Speaker 6 (34:34):
And then you're killing more people. So you're the villain.
You're always going to be the villain.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
You're going to make it worse. Hey, I'm not Batman.
I use guns.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Ryan, you know what his argument was in court? Because
this guy already went to court and he was convicted
and everything. He said, well, I didn't pull the trigger. Well,
he didn't pull the trigger because the trigger was on safety.
He was trying to pull the trigger. He just didn't
because it was on safety.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
And that's an attorney. Yeah, an attorney. That's an attorney. Big,
big dude, too.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
So the fact that this waiter tackled him like that
was amazing. I thought it was just, I was like, man,
way to go, dude. But he didn't want any of
the attention. He's like, I'm not a hero. I just
did what I thought was right at the time, and
I could have got myself killed.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
He's not a hero. He just crushes a lot. All right,
we got to take a little break. We come back.
We got Moe's here. Moe DeWitt for Moe for the weekend.
Don't go anywhere. You're listening to the March of the Morning.
Barbecue on.
