Speaker 1 (00:05):
Good luck.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'd love to see you win one thousand dollars. Take
the word coin over the real radio dot FM. Today's
day to win. This is Yes, this is the luckiest
day of the year according to astrology, so you might
as well give it a shot.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
You could win.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Just take the word coin over the real radio dot
F then plug it in there and be compared to
answer the phone about an hour afterwards. That could be
iHeart calling you to tell you that you want a
thousand dollars. If you don't pick it up, they're going
to call somebody else. So we want to see you win.
We've got several winners now, right, we started off slow.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
I think we're I think we've gotten up to five.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Okay, so we could use more. So we'd love to
see you win a thousand dollars winter every single day
of this week. I'm sure everybody'd want to win one
thousand dollars. We'll handle a little bit of the nerdy
news today.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Ryan's out. Ryan will be back tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
He went on a cruise, so he should be back tomorrow,
all rested and ready to go. Okay, so I know
you watched the I want to talk about that in
a second. But there's a story here about Nicholas Cage
and this new it's called spider Noir Noir, right, and
it's coming out on Prime. It'll be out on the
twenty fifth on Prime. And for those that don't know
(01:13):
what it is, it's like Spider Man if it were
in the forties, like if Spider Man were in the forties.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
And all the trailers.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
I've seen have been in black and white, but it
is also available in color. So Nicholas Cage explains why
Spider Man Noir was shot in both color and black
and white? Why do you think they decide it? And
he says he was all about just doing the whole
thing just in black and white. But why do you
think they decided to do both?
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Probably because there are going to be people that aren't
going to going to give it a chance because it's
in black and white.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Teenagers, yeah, he said, he said, teenage. It's been their experience.
Teenagers will not even give something a shot if it's
in black and white. If if something is in black
and white, they won't even watch it. And I still
to think about that. I was like, well, when's the
last time I watched something that was in black and white.
That was new, and I can't think of it. Is
(02:10):
there any can remember? Like Schindler's List was in black
and white?
Speaker 1 (02:14):
But uh?
Speaker 2 (02:15):
And I went to the theater and saw that Sin
City movies. I never watched them. Really.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Yeah, they were all based off of comic books and
they were also black and white. Were they black and white?
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Anything else you can think of that was in black
and white that was successful? I mean they probably have
a good point. Uh. It says it would turn off
most of the teenagers. I'm where teenagers won't watch anything
in black and white. That's been his experience. So they
decided to make it in black and white and in color.
So which was you know what? There's an option. I
(02:47):
like all the uh all the Justice League movies, and
there's an option to watch Justice League in black and white.
I don't even know why that option is there, and
I didn't do it. I didn't watch it because I'm like,
I don't. I don't want to say it in black
and white. Uh, I watch it just in color. But uh,
but this one, like I say, uh, you know, it
seems like you're supposed to if it's noir, isn't okay?
(03:09):
What what is the definition of noir? I thought I
thought the definition was black and white.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
I think it's more of that era, okay, of like shooting,
you know, noir. You're throwing back to those detective kind
of days. So that's what nowir means. Yeah, it's it's
like that genre. Okay, it's a throwback kind of thing,
right right, right, right?
Speaker 2 (03:28):
So would if given the option, are you gonna if
you to watch this, are you gonna watch it in
black and white or color? I probably won't watch it
at all? Oh no, no, no, no, no interest in
Spider Man.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
No, not with him at the helm of it? No, no,
I will. I'll be that kind of uh or whatever
person that is where I'll just wait to see what
everybody else's response to it, right, because even the stuff
that I've seen, like the some of the stuff I'm saying,
I was all right.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Cool, that looked pretty cool. They look pretty cool. So
you don't like Nicholas Cage. I find him cumbersome. Oh,
I mean, you know, I don't want to like hang
out with him, but he seemed you know, I don't know,
he's pretty good at movies, I think. But anyway, Yeah,
he explained that to like teenagers, young people won't watch
(04:16):
anything in black and white and.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Mind that interesting that take on it. And I'm curious,
how about this. I'm more curious to find out if
they actually did a study or did you know what
they do when they test the movies they and they
didn't test well with was in black white. I would
like to if they had that kind of information to
back it up, because there's been some really popular video
games just recently that have dropped that are all black
and white. Right, you know, there's the Metro series that's
(04:40):
all black and white, predominantly black and white, let's say.
And so I'm curious about that.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Somebody pointed out that there was that Marvel thing wear
Wolves by Night or whatever.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
They came out in black and white, remember that vaguely?
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yes? Yeah, I mean I didn't watch it, but that
was supposed to I guess that was supposed to be
pretty good and it was in black and white.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Uh, because it doesn't make sense. Their logic rush doesn't
make sense. And then I'm like, oh, we're gonna do
a noar based Spider Man, but we're gonna do it
in color, yeah, as opposed to like, like I think
it would.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Help sell it. Well, they have a photo here of
what it looks like in color, and it's it's made
to look like a comic book. Like it doesn't look
gotch accurate, you know, it looks like it's a comic book.
So it looks pretty cool. So probably give them the choice.
I'll probably watch the color one, uh, just to just
to check it out. Uh. Now, I know you're a
fan of The Boys, are you? Are you sticking in
(05:34):
with it? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:35):
I'm like, I think they dropped the season finale.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, season finales, you know, and I don't know which character,
so I can't blow it for you guys, but it
says Boys creator confirms that one of the strongest superheroes
will not be in the season finale.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
You're you're caught up with it or no, I'm like
two two, three behind.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Three behind, Okay, Yeah, so but this is it for
both for the Boys.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Yeah, finally, so they'll be wrapping that up they've got.
And then the other thing that's been interesting with that
brand or that that they've already canceled a couple of
offshoots that they were going to try to do off
of that is it because it's not as popular as
it once was.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
I don't know if people responding to it. You know,
the college one is pretty good. And then yeah, I
like there was a they had planned a couple of
other ones and they were going to uh basically shrinked
that universe down.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
So I'll tell you what we got roped this is
this is definitely nerdy. I got roped into this weekend,
I say roped into it, like uh, I think it
was a Friday night after the game or something. Mary
was like, oh, you know what, let's just go ahead
and watch let's which which avatar is it that we
can watch for free? So we watched like the second Avatar,
which is like, oh my god, is awful long, but
(06:45):
it wasn't so bad. We're like, it wasn't so bad,
Like so on Sunday, sin it's supposed to rain on Sunday,
Let's go ahead and watch the newest avatars Fire and
Ash or whatever you know we can we we can
watch that one and you know you have to pay
for it.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
But yeah, how many Avatar movies are there? There's three?
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Okay, and all three only three, but really with if
you put those three together, you could have made twenty
seven because they're long.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
So yesterday we decide, okay, let's you know, we'll have
some pizza and uh, it's gonna rain outside, so we'll
just have a date night, you know, a date day.
Watching this Avatar thing, I couldn't believe how long it was.
I'm like, are we is it? I fell asleep during
the middle of it, and like I woke back up
and there's still one.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
You know, they're still chasing the same guy. They're still
doing the same thing. Like like it's a little I
don't think James Cameron knows how to make a movie
under three hours. He doesn't. It's like it's not everything's important.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
And then all the whales are jumping, and it's like
the whales jumping, whales jumping. You know, they added they
keeping so much stuff that really doesn't need to be there,
and it's the same thing, right they're they're chasing.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
I think the hardcore fans of that would take Humbridge
with you saying that they could cut out more. They
could cut out a lot more. Oh and there are
there really hardcore fans. I mean, I know this is
the murdy hardcore fans really of Avatar. Dude, that thing
makes crazy money. That's why they let him make three
hour movies. Every single one of those money, I think.
(08:08):
And then the other part of it, I think he
he covers a lot of the cost of it too.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Listen, Like, Okay, visually, you know, a lot of it
is really beautiful. I get it, you know the way
they made it. Okay, But the story, so it's like a, yeah,
we're chasing Jakes Sully. It's all. We're trying to find
Jakes Zelly. They're the same thing the entire time that one. Mean,
guys trying to catch him. That's all there is.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
So just so you're aware of the movie that you're trashing. Yeah,
The Walt Disney Studios announced on Sunday, the twentieth Century
Studios Avatar, Fire and Ashes officially surpassed one billion at
the global box office, cementing another monumental achievement for James
Cameron's groundbreaking franchise and underscoring is unparalleled connection with the
audiences worldwide.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Have you met anyone who's like, man, I love me
some Avatar.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, and they know not to talk about it around here.
I don't.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
I don't know anyway, Like like we've seen them all
now and yes, Faan was like, my god, who watches
all of this? And they made like I thought it
was just gonna rent it, you know, for twenty bucks.
I had to buy it, so now like I got
it forever. You don't have and I'll never watch it again. Okay,
the two things. You don't have it forever and you
(09:20):
don't ever have to watch it again to be like, yeah,
if I lose my Amazon prescript whatever subscription, I said, No,
it doesn't even have to be if you canceled. This
is one of the big things of not owning your
physical media. They could pull it off. So you had
you bought, you paid twenty bucks to stream it right
now through this platform. They could lose the rights to
that movie. It could pop up on another platform and
(09:43):
you wouldn't have the rights to stream it.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Well, I won't be said. You could have just bought
walled up a balled up A twenty and thrown it
out the window. It's a long ass movie, man, that's
some nerdy stuff.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
I'm telling you, Doug.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Good movie to watch is good Luck, Don't Die, good Luck,
don't Die, Have fun, good Luck Don't Die. I talk
about movies once again.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Back in the number one spot in the North American
box office is Michael Jackson's movie Michael Just won the
box office again and made twenty six point one million dollars,
beating out Devil, Where's Proud of Two? Which you know,
there are people that are mad about the success of
that movie, about which one of Michael the Michael one. Yeah,
(10:25):
I mean, I'm not mad at it. I just I
still just don't want to go see it. I don't,
you know, Yeah, I don't. I don't.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yeah, you haven't seen it yet, right again, I will.
I'll end up watching that movie when it ends up
on a streaming platform.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Right again.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
It's not something that I'm gonna go see. But there
the criticisms of this movie is I find fascinating in
the sense of there are people that are upset with
it because they're like, well, this is not a documentary.
They're mad about what has been left out. They're mad
about all these things, And I'm like, Okay, all the
things that you guys are complaining about, Why would you
think that any of that stuff would be in when
it's the estate of Michael Jackson that's writing this movie. Yeah,
(11:05):
you know, what I mean, the what you want or
the what you want to look at is a documentary.
And then at that point it's going to be a
documentary that's not authorized by the family, and that's and
that's where that kind of stuff would go. All they've
done here is basically tell a story that kind of
gets you to song to song to song, you know.
So it's like a let's say, almost a a after
(11:28):
school special of for the music videos kind of yea,
or for the songs.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
That Hey, texting service, thank you guys so much tech
you you can always text us at seven seven zero
three to one. Here's a movie I just saw recently
that wasn't black and white that I absolutely loved. I
just thought God's Zilla minus one shout out Anthony, Yes,
and I forgot how much I liked that, And it
didn't matter that it was in black and white and
it was successful, right.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Yeah, Well that's why we're getting the other one.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Yeah, that it was all black and white, wasn't it.
I think a majority of it was, Yeah, ninety percent
of it. I think all of it. I think all
of it. Yeah, I'm trying to remember begging me's right to.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Make a mistake.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah. Yeah. Another texting service says, I'm that at the
success of Devils were a product too, like that, that's ridigulous.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
So just to be clear, I'm not sure what well
the clarification of it is. But even if you own
the physical media copy of it, you don't own the movie.
You own the disc it's onn but not the movie
or the game itself. Right, Okay, that's splitting hairs. Yeah,
I'm not sure what. Thank you, sir, I appreciate it. Yeah,
(12:42):
the point being what I guess in the context, because
is contextually, I guess it's important. Russ paid twenty bucks
to just have it downloaded. He doesn't own it either,
and so that if if that movie leaves Prime at
any time, it will leave his library and he wouldn't
have it. Whereas if I buy the physical medium, I
(13:03):
own that and I can watch it whenever.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Well, you know, I do got a long list of
things that I own, they say I own on Amazon
that have been there forever, and anytime I want to
go to them, I can watch them. Nothing's ever popped off.
And why they wouldn't tell you us, I know which
ones I bought, you know, Yeah, you know, I got
the one again.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
That you are right and you're in your scenario, you're right.
But there are plenty and plenty of stories and and
and documented where people are upset for movies that they
paid for it that they lose them, not just on Amazon,
but on all streaming platforms where you've paid that money
down that's the that's the hiccup. You get the you're
paying for the license of it or the privilege to
play it on your system, but you don't you don't
(13:46):
own a physical copy of it. And that's why it's like,
there's people there's a whole movement for going out and
buying the DVDs, going out and buying the.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
LP instead of the streaming services. Yeah, I don't think
that'll I don't think that's gonna come back. You what DVDs? Yeah,
they are, dude, people buying DVD play Yes, Yes, it's
a it is a movement. I'm telling you. I know
it's not reached to you, and I understand that. But
people are making a concerted effort to buy the physical media. Now.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
That's why that's why vinyl sales went through the roof.
They've consistently gone up every year. People are like Okay,
they're realizing now the gimmick of that if you really
genuinely love your band and you want to support your band,
it's better to buy vinyl and buy it from them
than you know, paying ten ninety nine for unlimited streams,
and they're getting point zero zero zero zero zero zero
(14:36):
one to nine of a cent for a stream. They
get a bigger cut off of the physical media. Yeah,
I know it doesn't land on you. You're not the
guy I've tried to convince You've already you are, that
sales ship sailed on you, and that you find that
boy more cumbersome and more hoops to jump through.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
And that's fine.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
But there there's definitely a of people that are they Again,
it's all nostalgia in the sense they like the idea
of going to one of the stores and finding some
DVDs or ordering here's the kicker, A lot of people
are ordering those DVDs from Amazon, you know what I mean. So, yeah,
so it is a movement. So and and there's plenty
(15:19):
of reasons why they're still making DVDs. They're still making LPs,
and now they're making tape. The sets are good.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
So what what movie would you buy on DVDs to
make sure.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
You had it forever. Oh dude, I've got.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
I've got several of the Batman movies, but I no
way to watch him anymore, Like I don't, I don't
have a DVD.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
I'm trying to think of what I just watched recently.
Oh what was that? The one with Ryan Gosling?
Speaker 2 (15:42):
And oh the one you just the one, you just
the movie you just watched that you liked a lot.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
I haven't bought the Hail Mary. Yeah I shouldn't. I
haven't bought that one on DVD yet. There was Ryan
Gosling and the guy from uh where he was the Gladiator?
Speaker 2 (16:01):
That movie. That's awesome, that's a really fun I got
that one on dv Ryan Gosling was a Gladiator.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
No, no, Ryan Gosling and the actor that played Gladiator.
I forgot his name. Oh the British guy, or I'll
see the Australian guy.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
What was that. I don't know what movie you're talking about.
It it's a fantastic movie. It must be like a
uh it's no, it's not that old nice guys. Oh
nice guys. Oh yeah, yeah, nice guys. Nice guys that
came out in twenty sixteen. I got that on the
Blu Ray DVD. I just watched that the other day.
It was hysterically I had to revisit it. Huh, how
(16:35):
many Blu Ray DVDs you got, I've probably got about
one hundred, I'll be damn. Yeah, I got I got
seven on there. I just recently watched Robe one again
and and I get it. Yes, those are all on
streaming platforms. But you're Russell Crowe. Russell Crowe, Thank thank you, guys. Yeah,
that's the guy. Don't go anywhere. You're listening to the
(16:56):
mantes the morning, Hey, walking on to the Mantra's warning
Jeorbery one oh four point one, don't We are broadcast
live on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Check out the app.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
When you got the app, you got the monsters who
also can leave us a message right now, if you
haven't left any messages in a while, do it.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
Uh, just you'll see a little microphone.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Click on the microphone and you can leave us a
message and we'll play those messages a.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Little bit later on in the show. And then right now.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
The word coin is the word that could win you
one thousand dollars if you take coin over to real
radio dot FM. Uh. You know you'll ask you know, okay,
what's the what's the keyword? You type in the keyword
and then try to, you know, wait for a phone
call from a number you don't recognize. Make sure you
pick up the phone and you could win one thousand dollars.
We've had several people win so far, so good luck.
(17:40):
So have you seen this new This is a new
Best Countries. It's a USA UH News and World Report
and the list of the best countries in the world,
The best one hundred country of the world came out
and the categories are like economic development, government, government, the health, health, insurance, infrastructure,
(18:03):
all that kind of stuff. What do you think came
in number one for the the best country in the world? Denmark.
Denmark is number two. It's always up there though. Yeah.
Number one was Switzerland. Switzerland was number one, Denmark number two,
Sweden number three. Those are all your your Nordic countries, huh.
(18:28):
And those are all in the same area. Yea. That
Germany is in fourth place, the Netherlands in fifth place,
all the same area, yeah, Netherlands, then Norway, uh, then
the United Kingdom, Finland, Finland. Okay, guy I think where
Finland is hold on mm hmm, same area, right, We're
(18:50):
all in the same all the same area. Luxembourg and Austria.
Those are your top ten. Uh, you don't see America,
you don't see the USA and ntil number eighteen. Out
of all of those, Out of all those countries, have
you been to any of them? I've never.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
I've been to Germany. I went to Germany. I was
in Heidelberg, Germany. I was there for a Christmas. I
had a blast in Germany. I have not yet done
my trip to the United Kingdom yet. I would love
to visit every one of those countries that you mentioned.
I would love to do like a summer like autobarn
like drive experience, kind of like what they did on
(19:27):
the Grand Tour show, and kind of visit those and
just do driving amongst all those countries.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
You know, I've only been to the United Kingdom out
of all those ten. Wouldn't mind going to any you know,
any of them. It sounds great, you know. It's funny
like growing up as a kid, you know, always like, oh,
of course America is number one and everything. You know,
we were in America, it's number one and everything. It's
not even not even close. But yeah, it doesn't come
until number eighteen. And they've got all the different reasons
(19:57):
why we didn't score so high, like for healthcare and stuff,
we're like thirty third, so way down their infrastructure, we're
thirty ninth. Civic health, civic health, that's just the general
health of the population. Okay, that's we're forty forty first.
(20:19):
When it comes to that natural environment number seventy two,
what's what's natural environment?
Speaker 1 (20:25):
If I had to guess, not knowing specifically, maybe how
we are good at protecting the environment, protecting the environment, Okay,
that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
The highest thing that we scored is opportunity, and that
was in fifteenth. When it comes to opportunity, not doing
so good according to this, But that's you know that,
this is according to uh US News and World Reports.
Very reputable organization RUSS. They are, aren't they? Yes? Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Are you joking or you're not joking?
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're they're for real. Yeah. So Switzerland,
I wouldn't mind going there. I wouldn't mind checking that out.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
All those countries and that in that part of the
world I think would be awesome to visit. So we
go to Norway, Sweden, Finland, and then you could drive
down and hit like Estonia, Lithuania, or like go to
Denmark and I think there's a real cool scene. Yeah,
like there's bridges from Denmark over to like Copenhagen. Yeah,
(21:28):
so there's that. That would be a really cool, like
automotive trip.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Says here number ninety nine is Ethiopia. Nigeria is ninety eight,
and then in last place Angola. Don't even know where
Angola is. I couldn't even think, Oh, it's all there's
all African. Yeah, it's on the continent. Yeah, I want
(21:54):
to I'm excited about going to Rome and to Greece
in March.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
That should be pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
Other than that, man like, I don't have plans to
go to any these places anytime soon, are you.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
I know that's still a year away. So are you
worried about traveling yet or no.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
I'm not worried about that anymore. Okay, I'm not worried.
You know when when it when when the Wars first started,
I remember getting like, oh my god, this is gonna
be going on. When we go there, it looks like
it's you know, it's it's you know, not gonna be
affected at all, you know, yeah, especially the part of
the world that you're going to. But I but I did.
I did try to find out. I sent some information yesterday.
(22:35):
I say, what what does it cost? They go up
to business class and not and not fly? You know
what I mean, Like, it's probably gonna be doubled anything.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Can you can you book that this far out?
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Like, yeah, I would definitely check out what the upgrade is.
I want to say how much I'm much gonna cost?
But I mean, you don't have any miles or points
or any of that kind of stuff that you can
use for that. I probably do. I want to talk
to something.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
There's a company that put all this together for us,
So I want to fight because I do have my
America Express so I might be able.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
To You probably have a I think I would assume
I don't have an AMX car, but I've heard that
you have a concierge service.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Yeah. Yeah, I could call them and ask them what's
up put me in business class? Yeah? Fly? I mean
because the flight's eight hours to begin with, right, I guess, so, yeah,
we we would fly from here to it goes right
to Rome.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
So you're going direct flight, so it's about eight to
ten hours. Yeah, you might want to find uh, get
some uh business class action going on and get the
cool little pods right next to each other, and then
you get to like, you know, a couple of ambient
and just sleep all the way over right, have a
good term.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
So uh so, yeah, growing up, did you always like
in anything like this whereas like the top ten countries?
Speaker 1 (23:52):
You always thought America was number one, didn't you. We
were because of the Again, it's just going back to this,
because of the way that we were raised and raising
the military wrest, I got a chance to see the
world a lot so that I had a different perspective
of it. So I never viewed these things as as
(24:13):
like ranking them, right, and I just you know, we
lived in Spain for quite some time, lived in Alaska
quite some time. You know, been through all parts of
the of the United States. Where is your favorite place
all the places you live in Alaska? Really Alaska in Spain? Yeah, absolutely, Alaska.
That military base was absolutely FANTASTICA was one of the
(24:33):
few times where it wasn't enclosed because of the natural wildlife.
Alaska's where I learned how to write a snow machine.
Alaska's where I learned how to uh snowski. Alaska's where
I learned how to did my first hunting. When I
visited there, it just seems like there wasn't much there.
That's that's part of the charm.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
So, I mean Anchorage at that time it seemed to
me was probably one of the bigger cities that we
had lived in the just that whole experience of it
being like being like it was we were encouraged to
be outside and and do all that stuff, and it
was just almost you know, I don't know, it was
(25:13):
just a different experience than some of the other military
staations that were like living in, like compared to which
which the Falls, Texas, there was nothing there to do,
you know, and so in that comparison, you know, so
going there was absolutely fantastic. And in Spain was because
we lived off base, we lived in the community, we
lived in in the in the town, and so that
was a different experience.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
Yeah. Yeah, but yeah, I loved Alaska. And so if
you had to, if you had to, if you had
to move somewhere else, they're like, Okay, you're kicked out
of the state of Florida. Uh you're going to Alaska.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Uh, I could if the certain situation, the circumstances were cool.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Yeah, absolutely. You know, I got to tell you when
when when I visited Costa Rica. That's a pretty cool place. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
And you could, and you could live in Costa Rica
with enough expatriots were that you would you would have
enough Americans around you that it would almost feel like
you were not that far from home. And you're like,
literally not that far from home.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
But then your money goes a long way. Yeah, you know. Yeah,
so I can see why people. I do see why
people move to Costa Rica. Well, if we work really hard,
USA were number eighteen this year. Maybe next year we
can get to fifteen if we try real hard. All Right,
we got a more big dum pub when we come back.
Don't go anywhere.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
You're listening to the mantra in the morning.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Hey, I avoids awkwardness.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
We lean into it.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Real Radio one oh four point one Guarantee Human Sarah
Spain for Iheartwomen's Sports Present and by Capital One. Today
marks the tip off of the WNBA's historic thirtieth season
with two new teams. Welcome back to the Mantras of
the morning. Real Radio one oh four point one. Chok
out our YouTube channel by the way, Real Radio mansras
(26:53):
on YouTube. We're alive there and we appreciate you being
here today. I'm Russ along with Angel rivera Ryan should
be back tomorrow. I think also tomorrow Ambernova will be
back with us. And we got to this coming weekend
is when we're all day weekend. You're off Friday. I
am off Friday and Monday and Monday, yeah, I got
(27:16):
a four day where we can just lay around the house.
I can get my boat needs to be good. I
canna get my boat back though, because I haven't had
it for a couple of weeks. So I'm trying to
think and listen. A lot of times I'll say something
something and I'm like, oh, no, you said that, and
you were wrong. I want to make sure I'm not
wrong about this. I don't believe I've ever gone to
the store and waited in line for some like item
(27:39):
that everybody's excited about. Like, I've never done that. There's
never been a product's funny that I just had to get.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
We were talking about this. It's funny that you'll bring
this because we were just talking about this. So Friday,
I sat in with Jimmy Show and everything. Okay, we
were talking about that, that kind of culture where the
Swatch watches. Well no, no, no, in the sense of the generations.
So like I I stood in line for video games,
I've done that. I stood in line for concert tickets.
I stood in line for out.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Okay, concert tickets if we're counting concert tickets.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
That culture of that, like did the fear of you know,
Foma or whatever. I stood in line for a video
game consoles. But that hasn't happened in quite some time.
I've I don't think I've ever done it for sneakers,
but I've seen like one of the well, we had
a huge incident here at one of the walls when
they were dropping one of the foam posit sneakers out there,
and so there was a big line for that. That's
(28:29):
probably the most recent thing that I would say that
I've seen. But this thing that happened over the weekend
rush Yeah, all over the world. Yeah, people wanting to
get this Swatch watch.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
And if if you've seen it, and I keep looking
at pictures of it, it's like a pocket watch. It's
not even a watch you put on your wrist it
just has a it's just got a rope attached to it.
It's a watch with a rope on it. And every
picture I've seen there, it doesn't seem to be a
wrist watch, a whistwatch, a wrist watch. Here's a picture
over here. It's just got a rope attached to a
(29:01):
So it's the collaboration, Russ.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
It's the collaboration with the UH And I always say
this brand name incorrectly, but the armar Jose. That's the
reason why it makes it so valuable. Those watches that
that brand makes are like some of the hot, like
incredibly like valuable watches.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Yeah, these are like from four to four hundred and
twenty dollars. They're the Royal Pop collection. Yeah, so there
were people are going crazy to get us watch one.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
So and again it was funny to me because like,
let's say one of their regular watches goes for one
point one million or you know, five hundred thousand or like.
So it was the collaboration what made it so desirable.
And I think a lot of people thought they were
going to get because there's another watch that they made
that was multi colored and everything, and that was a
few years ago.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
I'm looking at the photos that they're just like cheap
looking plastic watches. Correct, what the hell? And they've got
security standing outside of the and the Swatch companies that
don't even show up.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
We don't have them. Uh don't, don't come to this place.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Uh here's a line in New York City, all the
way down the block. I don't I literally got to
tell you, I don't understand. I don't get it. There's
not there's a I can't even think of it. I
was stand in line for for like that. Yeah, so
they believe that one day these are gonna be more
(30:27):
valuable than the four hundred dollars they paid for that.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
They would instantly would be. It would be just because
it's a ap watch. Huh yeah. And it's like collectible
and people, you know, like that whole culture of collectible
and being the first one to get it. Apparently we
got a texture who's mad at us? And uh why?
And that's why I got the Swatch. And you don't
hate or stay pocket watching. It's a pocket watch. It's
(30:50):
a risk watch that you can turn into a pocket watch.
Oh well, there you go, now I got line.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Is that's what this lady said, Jennifer says that it's
a risk to watch it you can turn into a
pocket watch. I don't think so. Swiss time pieces are
the most valuable. Okay, okay, the AP watches. Everything that
you're saying in regards to AP watch correct. This is
again a few years ago. Watch did this with Omega
and they did the Moon series watches. There was one
(31:18):
of those that I really wanted to get my hands on,
I think was the Moon one or the Mars one.
And look at the value of those watches today. This
guy's like haters call it a pocket watch. Okay, listen,
I'm not a hater. I just don't understand. I don't
hate you if you get one of those. But every
picture they're showing it's just a watch on a string,
(31:38):
I don't and I'm just saying I don't get it.
I don't hate you. If you got one, I'll laugh
at you if you're care it rounds.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
It's the Royal Pop collection, buddy. If you could be
mad at us, all you want, go to the website.
All they're doing is showing it as a as a
pocket watch. And to the woman that says you can
turn it into a risk watch, how because they I
look like again, yeah, I'm looking at it right now.
There's no attachments or no place where you could put
a strap on it. And if you if there is,
(32:07):
that's probably something aftermarket I collect.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
And I with my Invicti watches, right, I like my
Invicti watches, and they're around the same price point, you know,
three four hundred dollars or whatever, and I like them
because they're big and bulky and they fit them on
big fat wrist or whatever.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
So I like them, but I'm not going to stand
in line to get one. Yeah, so look already, so
four hundred dollars watch and they're selling those already on
eBay for fifteen hundred to.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Three thousand, are they really? Yeah? Okay, so that's why
people are getting them because then they more than triple
their value as soon as you buy them.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
So it's an investment. No, it's that culture of like
trying to flip stuff.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
I hate it.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
I like, for example, let's say a sneaker manufacturer drops
a drop, doesn't drop of a new color, colorway or something,
and there are these guys that their whole purpose in
life is they'll try to buy the whole inventory and
then you go to stock X or whatever, and a
ninety eight one hundred dollars shoo now is three hundred
dollars because of manufactured desire.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
You know, here's what someone's saying. Correct me, he correct
us if we're wrong, and we could be. Someone's saying
that they released the watches now and then later they're
going to release the the bands. So I'm on the website,
I'm go to Swatch like show me because I'm on
the website right now. I've just did the whole thing
and there's nothing that indicates that, nothing at all, every.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Because what would you do with it?
Speaker 2 (33:31):
I mean, if it doesn't have a band to go
around your wrist, you can put it in your pocket. Everything.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Like there actually is a picture of a guy holding
it and he's holding it in his pocket, and people
are I mean people are getting in fights, yeah, to.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Get these always.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
I was genuinely laughing when I first saw the story.
I was like, oh, that looks good. That could be
potentially cool. And again Swatch has done this. They's did
it with Omega a few years ago, and now they're
doing it with AP All right, cool. And then once
I saw like and it was funny because it was
it was just dudes. It was dudes that every one
of these.
Speaker 2 (34:05):
Was Yeah, you're right, I'm looking at it. There's all
just dudes in line, dumb dumbs. This happened, happened in Pennsylvania.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
I'm mad you like what you like. I'm just saying,
you know, I don't get it.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Happened in London, like all over the world. People are
in Chicago, people are to get into big fights to
get this at all bucket watch. Yeah, all Swatches doing
is like this is hysterical.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Oh they're loving it.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Yeah, they got to live up with AP.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
We got them to kind of do a little coach
sign on this watch that they would never sell themselves.
They actually AP sells a cooler watch that's multi colored
that if you looked at it you would think it
was a Swatch watch. But that's like a you know,
three hundred thousand dollars watch. Hey, so on Jimmy Show,
we are you talking about the Swatches and that? No, no, no, no.
What our conversation was about the culture because Grand Theft
(34:52):
Auto six was dropping today. The rumor is that if
you did the pre purchase, it's dropping today. Of a
report that came out of best Buy. I can't confirm
or deny if that's actually happening. So will you go
get in line to go get it?
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Nah? No, no, no, no, you know, I gotta get the
PS five and then I'll get that hype culture. Yeah,
that's kind of what it is. You feel like you
gotta get it if I get it. The last thing
I remember being a big deal like that. Okay, I
did wait in line, remember when, like the Popeyees chicken
sandwich was a big deal. Remember that, we did get
caught up in that. I did go get in line
(35:26):
to get a Popeye' chicken sandwich. Yeah, but I mean
I would take a Popeyees chicken sandwich over a swatchwa
wash any day. Like a watch that is that is
not even on the go on your wrist. I don't
get it, all right, So this person is for me.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Ap face comes off and will snap into a watch
band eventually one day. The ape movement itself in the
in the in the pocket watch is what's valuable.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
Hm hmm okay, So later on you'll be able to
get the band if that's the case. That's the case,
I'll take your word for it. There's no nothing that
they call him at the Royal Pop Collection and it
comes with three standard lanyards.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Is there a place here in central Florida where you
can get one of the head There was footage There
was footage of the Florida Mall. Oh really yeah, they
had security and everything over the Florida Mall. People were
posting on their Instagram accounts.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Man, if that makes you happy, it makes you happy.
I ain't mad at you. Yeah, what it is. It
was funny to see that reaction. Uh, you know, it
was just funny to me to see that reaction because again,
like I saw the story and I was like, oh,
that's cool. Watch and then seeing everybody on Friday or
Saturday morning, i'ma in Florida Mall. The security was there
and everything and people were trying I saw the fights
(36:35):
that you saw. Yeah, I saw like just globally, and
I was like, wow.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
I've got I seeing it on the line now. And
you're right, it's all dudes. Yeah, all dudes. I don't
see one woman.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
All right?
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Uh, well more big gun fun when we come back.
Don't go anywhere. You're listening to the mantra the morning
your just to win a grin in your hand is
minutes away on Real Radio one oh four point one.
Fuck you by Mills are still looking at some slow
traffic today on I four for those traveling in the
Orlando area this morning, with delays continuing by the major
attractions exits as well as through downtown. Traffic is currently
(37:12):
moving well north and southbound this morning. For those who
plan to take Florida
