Leon Baxton, recently appointed CEO of Communities In Schools of Jacksonville called into the show to talk about the organization celebrating 30 years of helping students stay on track for graduation. Mr. Braxton invited the community to the Anniversary gala, A Toast to the Tassel, set for Friday, Jan. 31 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown. The upscale evening will include cocktails, a silent auction and dinner, as well as the unveiling of new student-focused videos and an interactive gallery experience. Over the past five years, graduation rates in Duval County have risen from 74 percent to 85 percent – a promising increase from the dismal 55 percent rate from ten years ago!
