The Morale Welfare and Recreation Department (MWR) with Steven Carmen

Steve Carmen called in to the show to talk about The Morale Welfare and Recreation Department (MWR) will hosting its 2nd Annual Saratoga Classic Half Marathon and Super Sara 5K aboard Naval Station Mayport. Excited to bring this open-base event back to Mayport on January 26, 2020 to create a positive experience for the runners, spectators and sponsors, The USS Saratoga was the first aircraft carrier homeported at Naval Station Mayport, spending her entire career (1957-1994) at Mayport. In honor of the USS Saratoga’s fighting spirit, they are pleased to name the half marathon and 5K in her honor. The course starts aboard Naval Station Mayport and continues across the Wonderwood Bridge and ends back at the Station. Hoping to draw runners from across the country as well as veterans and former sailors off USS Saratoga to come out to the event! MWR’s mission is to delivers programs, products, and services that support Fleet and Family Readiness and enhances the quality of life for the community at Naval Station Mayport !
