Letout calendar sixty years ago. On April twentieth, nineteen sixty six,
the Yardbirds completed two days of recording sessions in London
for their next single, the last one recorded prior to
Jimmy Page joining the lineup. Lead guitarist Jeff Beck inspired
the title of Jeff's Boogie, which was the B side

of over Under Sideways Down. It was the fourth straight
single from the Yardbirds Jeff Beck Era to reach the
US Top twenty. Jimmy continued playing that song on Yardbirds
gigs after Jeff was no longer with the band. One
live version with Jimmy came out on the compilation Yardbirds
sixty eight only forty nine years later. On April twenty first,

twenty eighteen, it was record store Day worldwide, and Jimmy Page,
Zeppelin's producer, gave fans an official reason to purchase some
independent music retailers when remastering led Zeppelin's entire back catalog
with bonus content. Jimmy held onto two alternate mixes for
this seven inch single release on yellow vinyl, An early

mix of Friends from Olympic Studios in London, contains vocals
but lacks the violin orchestration, overdubbed for led Zeppelin. Three
on the flip side, Rock and Roll became the third

mix from Sunset Sound in California ever to be officially
released by led Zeppelin. On April twenty second, nineteen seventy two,
a color photo of Jimmy Page made the cover of
Disc Magazine in the UK. Jimmy was still wearing the
beard he had shaved off while touring Australia. More notably,
Jimmy was shown holding his Sovereign Acoustic guitar. This was

the very guitar he used to write, more so most
of the material for led Zeppelin's first four albums. The
front cover directs readers to page twenty four for Jimmy's
thoughts on magic. The only thing he says on that
topic is quote magic is very important if people can
go through it unquote. As far as Zeppelin, Jimmy says,
quote musically it gelled immediately. It's very hard getting groups together,

Led Zeppelin played in Georgia for their last time. The
venue was the Omni Colisseum in Atlanta. The space is

seventy three tour. They didn't tour in either seventy four
or seventy six, and their scheduled Atlanta appearance in seventy
five was part of a canceled tour. Midway through the show,
Robert Plant announced quote, as you probably noticed, we had
two years where we didn't really get out on the
road too much. Ahead of the final encore, he added,

On April twenty fourth, nineteen sixty nine, Led Zeppelin headlined
at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco for the first time.
They had supported Country Joe and the Fish at the

Fillmore in January. This time led Zeppelin topped the bill
over Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and The Trinity. Incidentally, Brian
Auger had played harpsichord on the Yardbirds hit single for
Your Love in nineteen sixty five. In another nineteen sixty
five studio session, Brian played organ for blues musician Sonny
Boy Williamson too, joined by Jimmy Page on guitar. Lie
