Hi, this is Carol Miller. Welcome to our Get the
Letout calendar fifty five years ago. In nineteen seventy one,
Led Zeppelin played for a second consecutive night in Denmark.
They moved from Copenhagen to Odenz, where they played at
Fian's Forum. On both of these dates, they brought something
new into the setlist that did not remain beyond these
two shows. For Styx was newly written and recorded, and

it was yet unreleased. The song had its difficulties while
writing and recording it. Now they found out over two
nights in Denmark performing it live also had its challenges.

On May fifth, nineteen seventy three, Led Zeppelin Stadium crowd
of fifty six eight hundred made news in Tampa. Reporter
John Jones narrated for WTVT channel thirteen as the band
aron did the Tampa area.

When a rock group attains a stature such as led Zeppelin,
they travel with their own jet waiting at the airport,
two limousines, and a police escort. I'm pleased to say
that one of the group's four members has my same name.

footage momentous enough to repurpose it in London while they
took the stage of the O two Arena for their
reunion show. The visuals and commentary from Tampa seventy three
set the scene for their opening song good Times Bad Times.
On May sixth, nineteen sixty nine, Led Zeppelin use some

studio time in la to record the instrumental piece they
called Moby Dick. They originally recorded the beginning and the
end sections together, then they separated the beginning and the
end to spice John Bonham's drum solo in the middle.
Only the first of these four chords made it onto
the album. They cut off the final resolution from the

studio take so it would segue directly into the closing
song Bring It On Home. On May seventh, nineteen seventy three,

Led Zeppelin played at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Jacksonville, Florida.
Tape collector searched for audio of this show but heard
nothing for the first fifty years. Later, fragments of a
soundboard recording finally emerged in twenty twenty five. Jacksonville was
only the third show of Led Zeppelin's US tour, and
the shows were taking longer than they anticipated. On stage,

Robert Plant explained the schedule did not permit much leisurely
downtime in town, or, in Robert's own words, time to boogie.

Before we came to America, we decided to do a
new program and we didn't really know how long it
was gonna be.

We found out for it's nearly three hours long.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
So this is very unfortunate because it doesn't leave us
a lot of time to boogie.

Fifty five years ago, on May eighth, nineteen seventy one,
Led Zeppelin were at home in England after playing a
pair of shows in Denmark. They canceled dates in Norway
and Sweden and instead prepared to make up for a
date at Liverpool University that had been postponed since March.
Only in May, both in Denmark and in Liverpool were
led Zeppelin performing Gallows Poll from Led Zeppelin three. Led

Zeppelin dropped the song after these three consecutive performances. This
