Hi, this is Carol Miller. Welcome to our get the
Letout calendar fifty five years ago. On May eleventh, nineteen
seventy one, Led Zeppelin made an initial mix of their
song four Stix in London. Unlike the final version on
the album, the alternate mix from the Olympic Sound Studios
starts with drummer John Bonham counting it off. Jimmy Page's

four note guitar riff fills the space of five beats,
and the first two notes are ahead of the downbeat.
Well after four times through, he added a sixth beat
for the next two measures. Jimmy explained none of the
irregular meter to Zeppelin's rhythm section. They had to figure

May twelfth, nineteen seventy seven, Led Zeppelin received an award
for a quote Outstanding Contribution to British Music. This took
place in London at the annual Ivor Novello Awards ceremony.

The award's namesake was the late Ivor Novello. He was
a singer and composer and the star of films and
live musicals. Ivor Novello Awards are judged by the writing community,
honoring excellence and songwriting and composing. The awards in nineteen
seventy seven were handed out during led Zeppelin's two weeks
off from touring North America. Twenty years later, in nineteen

ninety seven, Led Zeppelin were honored with a second Ivor
Novello Award. This time it was the Lifetime Achievement Award,
placing Zeppelin in the same category as pasted honorees Eric
Clapton and Van Morrison. On May thirteenth, nineteen sixty nine,
Led Zeppelin arrived in Honolulu aboard a pan Am flight.

the airport. Here was their ride for the gig at
the Civic Auditorium. Robert captured a landmark photo the airport.

My first concert I shot Jeff Beck and he told
me about a band that Jimmy Page was putting together.
So I went to La to the whiskey of Go Go,
and led Zeppelin brought me in, and then they took
me to San Francisco the next day and they said,
you're the only guy interested, the only photographer at these venues.
So I called the promoter back in Hawaiian and I said,
Tom Moffatt booked this band. So Tom Moffatt says, you
go to Honolulu Airport. You pick them up since they

know you, and they're carrying the master takes of led
Zeppelin two in their hands.

On May fourteenth, nineteen eighty eight, Jason Bonham and the
three surviving members of his father's band led Zeppelin waited
backstage at Madison Square Garden. The concert for Atlantic Records
fortieth anniversary started at noon, and their reunion was supposed
to be the final set of the entire show. Robert
Plant went on with his solo band earlier and then

returned backstage several hours later. After midnight, they went on.
Among other things, they did the live arrangement of a
Whole Lot of Love from Zeppelin's nineteen seventy nine shows
at Nebworth On May fifteenth, nineteen seventy two, led Zepplin

got started with recording sessions at Stargroves, the residential estate
that belonged at the time to Mick Jagger. It was
there that the Rolling Stones had recorded parts of both
Sticky Fingers and the follow up Exile on Main Street.
The who had also turned up to record Won't Get
Fooled Again for Who's Next. As it turned out, led
Zeppelin were next to use Jagger's location, as well as

Led Zeppelin recorded outside in the garden and didn't mind
