Letout calendar. On June fifteenth, nineteen seventy two, Led Zeppelin
played Nassau Coliseum on Long Island for a second consecutive night.
Both of zeppelin sold out shows were their only ones
in the New York area on a month long tour.
They actually sold out a month in advance, grossing one
hundred and ninety two thousand for the two shows. Robert

best live act.

But it was such fun doing it. Thank you. On
June seventeenth, nineteen eighty, Led Zeppelin opened their summer tour
of Europe in the West German city of Dortmund. The
show consisted of less than two hours of playing time.
No song was more than about nine minutes long, and
there were thirteen songs in the set, and they squeezed
another three in for the encore, which was under twelve

minutes long. The encorees were a fast paced rock and
roll and a partial heartbreaker kind of sandwich between the
beginning and end portions of whole lot of love. All
there was left to do afterward was to take bows
and say good night, and in Robert Plant's words, dinosaur's
rule good night Conisaur's rule. Sixty years ago, on June eighteenth,

nineteen sixty six, Jimmy Page attended the Queen's College may
Ball at Oxford University in England. Jimmy witnessed not only
a performance by the Yardbirds with Jeff Beck, but also
the show's aftermath. Singer Keith Ralph appeared drunk on stage
after the show, Bassist Paul Samuel Smith vented his frustrations

by quitting the band. Jimmy was in the right place
at the right time. He agreed to begin taking Paul's
place at their next gig. Jimmy soon played bass for
the Yardbirds at the Marquie Cla Up in London, but
they had other plans in mind for a future lineup.

We could then mutate into this plan of having Jeff
and myself on the guitars and the rhythm guitarist would
take over the bass duties.

That's what happened fifty years ago. On June nineteenth, nineteen
seventy six, US retailers had a new led Zeppelin single
in stock, Candy Store Rock, sounded straight out of the
early nineteen sixties. It failed to chart and never entered
led Zeppelin's live repertoire. Robert Plant these days has a
band called Saving Grace. In the past, he has said

Candy Store Rock was the saving grace of led Zeppelin's
album Presence A.

Candy Store Rock was me being well Donner. He always
been my hero, the guy who wasn't Elvis but really
was Elvis. The kind of bridge section in Candy Store
Rock is sher and pure owl Donner, and it was
great because Gimi's guitar play on it was incredible. It
was like the whole band moved into another gear there.
So when he got around of something like Andy Store Rock,

that was a saving grace of the album.
