Over the past 2 decades, the obesity epidemic has led to a dramatic increase in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in the U.S. It is estimated that over 35 million U.S. adults have diabetes, of which 90-95% of cases are T2D. Alarmingly, an additional 92 million U.S. adults have prediabetes.
