Speaker 1 (00:00):
Star one O one three. It's Marcus. It's Friday morning.
We made it. I was just kind of auditing all
the awesome things that are happening today. A. It's Friday.
B it's Halloween. See, Daylight Savings is over, so you're
going to get an extra hour of sleep this weekend
to recoup from whatever it is you do tonight while
you're taking the kids out trick or treating. And then
I haven't even brought up the Disneyland tickets that we're
(00:21):
giving away another four pack this morning, twice plus thousands
of dollars. This could be the greatest day of our lives.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
The only thing that could make this better is if
you check in, let me know, let me know what
the kids are dressing up as maybe you're dressing up
tonight for Halloween. Talkback always open if you want to
check in. I want to know what's going on in
your life. So it's the little red microphone on the
iHeartRadio app. If you're streaming Star one on one three
right now, let me know. And like I said, keep
the radio on. Your first chance to win the Disney
(00:50):
hookup for a little holiday magic is going to be
seven thirty five I wanted to wrap up on a
topic we've been talking about for a couple of days
because the talkbacks have been great. In fact, if you
ever want want to comment on anything we're talking about,
you can use the little red microphone on the iHeart
Radio app if you're streaming Star one oh one three.
Phone number also very easy, eight hundred eight hundred one
oh one three. Marriage proposals are fun to talk about.
(01:12):
Experts say the most successful place to do it is
at home. But how did you get proposed to? Was
it successful? Talkback always open. It's that little red microphone
on the iHeart Radio app. If you're streaming Star one
on one three right now, you can leave messages.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Hey, Marcus, So my husband he sent me on an
amazing race, so we were really into the show way
back when, and he got all my friends involved and
gave them clues and I ran all over the Bay
area and then he ended up proposing in Santa Cruz.
And we've been married for eleven years, so I think
pretty successful.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Oh that sounds exhausting. I think I just got chin splits.
But also, congratulations. All right, let's do one more.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Hi Marcus, good morning, This is Sally My husband proposed
to me at El Harden nineteen years ago, around the
Big Tree with life everywhere. It was my birthday party
and we had all of our favorite people. He hid
the box ring in my coach first, and everyone was
excited about the coach purse, and he goes, there's more,
which I thought was a wallet, but it turned out
(02:12):
it was a ring. He was already on his knees.
It was the most romantic and special.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Day ever, I mean, also baller. In fact, I want
to talk to Sally. Do we have her on hold?
Speaker 5 (02:20):
Hi?
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Sally? Are you there? Good morning? How are you?
Speaker 6 (02:23):
Good morning?
Speaker 7 (02:23):
Mark Gause? I'm great? How are you?
Speaker 1 (02:25):
I got your talk back. I had a couple of
follow up questions on your el Hardine marriage proposal. Yes,
so where is this place?
Speaker 7 (02:34):
Oh it's Santana Ro.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
It's the one right.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
In the middle. Uh huh.
Speaker 7 (02:38):
And there's that victory with lights.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
So he pulled out all the stops. You're already having
your birthday party at Santana Ro. You've just scored a
coach purse. My day's already made. And then he pulls
out a diamond ring. Yes, is your husband independently wealthy?
And does he need a son.
Speaker 7 (02:57):
No, he was just really stopful, and yeah, I was exciting.
The funny thing is my sister took the purse out
of my hand, and a few people knew the ring
was in. They're like, give her back her first.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
So it was did your sister not know? She didn't
she didn't know the assignment.
Speaker 7 (03:14):
She didn't know the assignment.
Speaker 6 (03:15):
No, you know why.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Because she wouldn't be able to keep her mouth shut.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah, exactly, I.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Already know the answer. What a great story. Thank you
for listening every morning. I appreciate it. Are you ready
for those Disneyland tickets?
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Though?
Speaker 7 (03:25):
Oh gosh, I am here all right?
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Thanks for sharing your story.
Speaker 7 (03:30):
Alrighty, have a great day.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Ye, so keep waking up with me. We will have
those Disneyland resort tickets. It's a four pack again, seven
thirty five, be here to win Star one on one three,
more variety for the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's a Star one on one three Friday morning, Halloween.
It's Marcus. As we wind down another work week. I
want to know the best piece of advice you ever got.
I'll go first. Number one, Nobody cares about you more
(03:53):
than you do. And what that means to me is
if you want something, go get it. If you feel
like you earn something, ask for it. Ever in the
history of corporate anything, has there been a situation where
somebody has looked over and went, hey, Stephanie's doing a
really good job. We should give her a raise. Nope,
Stephanie had to ask for it. So nobody cares about
you more than you do. I like that one. This
(04:14):
other one's a three parter. Always puts your best foot forward.
We are all being evaluated constantly, even if you don't
realize it. And seventy percent of the decisions made about
your career are made with you not even in the room.
It's almost sort of weirdly like dance, like nobody's watching.
Do the right thing even if nobody's around. And then
(04:35):
third piece of advice that I think was the best dude,
and you hear this all the time. In order to
be successful, surround yourself with people that more are more
successful than you are. I'm going to credit my mom
for that one. Thanks Ma. All Right, I'm done, you go.
Best piece of advice you've ever heard. Eight hundred, eight
hundred and one oh one three. If you want to
check in. You can also use the talkback on the
iHeartRadio app. I got Tiffany and San Jose, What's yours.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
I'm trying to move from New York City and I
saw this video on YouTube with Denzel Washington where he
said to fall forward. I think that's like such great
advice because growing up with my family, we're always about
having a backup and to fall back on something. But
I really like the concept of falling forward and to
(05:18):
be fearless.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
I'm going to guess that means like putting your whole
heart into something with no regard for what the backup
plan might be, because it takes your focus off what
you're supposed to be doing.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
If you never try, then you've already failed, right. So
if you try, and even if it doesn't go your way, right,
it's going to lead you to the direction that you
want to get to, right, instead of being living in
fear and falling back on something in case something happens,
like that's just anxiety talking, right, But if you just
go for it and you fall forward, just like embrace
(05:50):
the unknown and keep that energy going because if you're
always scared, you know you're just going to stay stuck.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Fall forward, You're still going in the right direction. I
love it.
Speaker 6 (05:59):
Thanks for the thank you.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
All right, your turn. Let's spread some wisdom. You can
use the talk back on the iHeartRadio app that little
red microphone if you're streaming Star one on one three
right now, and you can always check in number super
simple eight hundred eight hundred one oh one three, And
you're gonna need that number anyway, because we're an hour
away from your four pack of tickets to the Disneyland
Resort seven thirty five, your first chance to win this
morning Star one O one three. That ensures sustainable practices.
(06:24):
They pay them directly so they get a fair wage
and all of this results in high quality, flavorful coffee beans.
You already know. They've been around forever, and now we're
teamed up and I love it. I'm here for it.
San Francisco Bay Coffee. One small sip for a better tomorrow.
This is what I'm talking about, is what's trending on
Star one O one.
Speaker 8 (06:44):
Three, what's happening in entertainment news, the biggest stories of
the day, and everything people are talking about today in
the Bay.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Speaking of Halloween, your weather is going to be solid tonight.
We have highs in the low sixties to mid seventies
around the Bay. Yes, partly cloudy, but pretty awesome weather
for trick or treating tonight for you to take the
kids out. What are they wearing? That's really what I
want to know. So if you're getting the costume all
prep because you're already, hit me on the talk back
and just let me know what your littles awaring tonight.
(07:13):
What are the costumes? What are the big ones? A
lot of demon hunters out there, I know that, but
let me know it's a little red microphoney for streaming
Star one on one three right now, love to hear
about it. Let's see a reminder that we fall back
this weekend, so you're going to get an extra hour
asleep to recoup from Halloween. That is pretty glorious. That happens,
of course Sunday morning we set our clocks back. And
(07:33):
another reason I love Billie Eilish, this is why we
are all avocados at heart. So she just accepted the
Music Innovator Award at the WSJ Magazine Awards, and she
used her speech to call out all wealthy people to
give back. She said to everybody, if you have money,
(07:54):
it would be great to use it for good things.
Speaker 9 (07:57):
I love you all, but there's a few people in
here have a lot more money than me. And if
you're a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate,
but yeah, give your money away, shorties.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
That's Billie Eilish wondering why people are billionaires. And then
she backed it up well. First of all, Mark Zuckerberg
was in the audience, so he apparently did not clap
or laugh. And then she ended up donating eleven point
five million dollars from her tour to food equity and
climate initiatives. Again another reason I love Billy Eilish. There
you go. It is free Fridays today. Our partner this
(08:32):
week is Marine Humane. We have a dog named Bernie
who needs adopting, a cat named Pony who needs adopting.
We've also got a rooster named Luke, and even a kingsnake.
We are all inclusive this week. You can check out
this cool video and all of the adoption in for
that you need on the Star one on one three FM,
Instagram stories that's up right now, and a couple of
(08:54):
things that you need to know about Marine Humane specifically
this weekend adoption fees for their adult cats that means
five months in old or are currently waived. If you
need a new Kidy in your life, that means you
can adopt for free. That'll run through Sunday. And then
with the government shutdown still going on, people set to
loose snap benefits tomorrow. Their pets safety net is stepping up,
(09:17):
so they're making it a little bit more robust to
increase distributions from their food pantry. So if you are
a Marine resident and you need help feeding your pets
during the shutdown, you can contact Marine Humane for more support.
If you want to make donations, they're taking donations. But
let's help ourselves out here and thank you to Marine
Humane for being our partner. And again you can catch
(09:38):
all the adoption information on the Star one on one
three FM Instagram in the stories. There you go six
fifty seven, less than ten minutes away from Second Date
Update your Friday edition or variety from the two thousands,
the nineties and today it's Star one on one three morning.
It's Marcus time once again for Second Date Update. Let's
do this. We're trying to bring people together. Has not
been a successful week. I'm not gonna lie a hell
(10:00):
of a lead up. Jen's on the phone. Hi, Jen, Hi,
I think you're the one though, I do think you're
the one. This is gonna work. I just feel like
we're gonna get you a second date. I feel like
this is gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
I mean, I just want to meet the one for me.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Yeah, I understand if you're just joining the show. The
way this works is Jen went on a date with
a guy named Cody and then he has ghosted. Now
you're gonna tell us about the date here in a second,
We're gonna call Cody with you on the phone on
mute so we can't hear you, and we're all just
going to try to figure out if something went sideways
or if he's just been busy or what. So how
(10:33):
did you guys meet? And then what did you do
for your first date?
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Okay, so we actually met at a bar.
Speaker 10 (10:40):
I was doing this grandma crawl and I was in
my grandma outfit and you.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Were doing a one. Now, a grandma crawl?
Speaker 6 (10:48):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (10:49):
I heard of that?
Speaker 10 (10:50):
Like, we're a group of like women, we dress as
grandma's and it's around Halloween time, So we bar hopped
through town.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
You know why that's crazy is just this week I
was talking to my producer about grandma hobbies that you
should pick up, and she does them all crochet like scrapbooking, so.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Like baking cookies, cakes.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Definitely, Can we just id okay, can we just agree
that grandma's are bosses? Like for real?
Speaker 11 (11:19):
Yeah, I don't see why anybody would hate.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
On grandma's Like that is actually a red flag.
Speaker 11 (11:26):
So when I met Cody, he was very open minded
and like that's one of the main reasons why we
got along.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
We just had a very chill and free spirited vibe.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Uh huh.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
And then I me at the bar with his friend.
Speaker 10 (11:39):
We got each other's numbers and he asked me out
to go to a concert, and so we did that
a few weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Okay, indoor or outdoor, I don't know if it matters,
but I'm just curious.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
It was outdoor, okay, but yeah, the energy was electric.
Speaker 11 (11:53):
I even brought my own tambourine.
Speaker 9 (11:58):
And.
Speaker 11 (12:00):
Okay, I just don't He hasn't talked, like texted me
for like a while now, so I guess I'm wondering,
like did I do anything wrong or like what happens.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Like where did he go?
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Did you did you what did you guys do after
the concert? Did you did anything else happen? Like what
happened at the end? Kiss or hugger?
Speaker 10 (12:19):
We didn't kiss, but we did hug and it was
a pretty strong one.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Okay, you know what like.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
When there's a good hug. Sure, since you're I felt.
Speaker 10 (12:27):
Like that, and he has ghosted, I would say so
that he's since.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
So, like I said, you know the drill, We're gonna
have you mute your phone and we will try to
get some answers. Hopefully I can get you a second date.
I'm gonna cross my fingers, Okay, I.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Mean hopefully he's alive.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
You're the second person to say that this week. Oh
my god. Yes, I also I also hope he's alive,
but we'll find out after this song. It's a second
date update Star one oh one three. It's Marcus. We're
doing second date update. I've got Jen on the phone
and she was telling me a couple of things. Jen,
you were telling me not only about your date with Cody,
who ghosted and we are going to call him, but
(13:02):
also about this Grandma crawl that you and your girlfriends
went on.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Yeah, that's how I met Cody.
Speaker 11 (13:07):
And also the tradition that you like, this is my
fourth year doing Grandma Crawl.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
And yeah, like you literally dress up his grandma's and
go drinking.
Speaker 11 (13:15):
Yes, and we also twerk so uh yeah, like we
we love to like get the energy up.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Yeah people in the bar.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Yeah, I did not have twerking Grandma's on my bingo card,
but like the visuals alone are stunning. Okay, let's get
back to business. Go go ahead and mut your phone
and we're gonna call Cody. Here we go. Hello, Yeah,
(13:46):
can I speak to Cody please?
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Yeah, see hey Cody. My name is Marcus. I do
a morning show, a radio show for iHeartRadio out of
San Francisco on Star one on one three. Do you
have a second to be on the radio with us?
Have you ever heard of show?
Speaker 12 (14:00):
No?
Speaker 6 (14:01):
I'm sorry, no, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
All good, bro, I'm sorry if I woke you up too, by.
Speaker 6 (14:04):
The way, yeah, sure is like a survey or something.
Speaker 9 (14:09):
No.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
So I got floated your phone number from a girl
who listens to my show, and she went on a
date with you recently and she's feeling like you're ghostinger
and we're just trying to figure out like if she
did something wrong or something go sideways, or maybe you've
just been busy. I don't know. And if you have
a couple of seconds to talk about the date, I'd
love to get your perspective. Her name is Jen. Are
(14:30):
you comfortable talking about your date with Jen on the air?
Speaker 6 (14:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Sure, okay, thank you. So how did it go? Did
you ghost?
Speaker 9 (14:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (14:42):
I guess technically I did.
Speaker 12 (14:44):
Okay, she's really hot, you know.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Okay, that's a good start. Smile.
Speaker 12 (14:55):
And you know when we first met us, you know,
she's really funny and like just all like an old
lady and stuff.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
She said, you guys kind of had the same vibe,
like the same kind of energy.
Speaker 6 (15:08):
Yeah I would not say that, Okay, yeah, her vibes.
Speaker 12 (15:13):
A little much. So well, we went to this like
concert thing like this like festival.
Speaker 6 (15:22):
Or whatever, and she got so hammered off white claws,
which I didn't even really know was possible. She had
like two or three and she was just like justus
a super mess.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (15:36):
She's like yeah, yelling at.
Speaker 12 (15:38):
The band, and you know, she had the tambourine.
Speaker 6 (15:42):
She was just like playing offbeat, like throughout every.
Speaker 12 (15:45):
Song, okay, and I was just like.
Speaker 6 (15:50):
Embarrassing man, Like she was like flirting her words and
like she kept you know that bit when people yelled
free bird, like try to get people to play free Bird. Yes, yeah,
she's doing that like way past the point of it
being funny.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (16:05):
And she kept she kept asking me to like film
her for her TikTok hot girl Hang Okay, and it
was just so it was so.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Much honestly, that's her TikTok.
Speaker 6 (16:19):
And then I looked it up and the hot girl hang,
it's not even a thing.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Okay, doesn't even exist. Okay, Cody, Okay. So actually Jen's
on the phone, Cody, she's listening in, which is, like
I said, trying to make this a teachable moment. Sorry
for sneaking up on you. Yeah, sorry, Hey, can I just.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
Say my papers, like.
Speaker 13 (16:48):
I am going to make that little movement myself, like
so it's funny, how like I feel like you're kind
of doubting what I can make, but it's I'm going
to start that.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
So it's gonna be a trend from me.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Okay. Can we talk about the other stuff? Though didn't
feel obnoxious to you at all, with the tambourine and
the and the shouting and the free bird and that
this's a lot of stuff.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
I don't see how I was obnoxious. Like we're at
a concert.
Speaker 11 (17:14):
It's outdoor, right, so like we're all here to have entertainment,
and like if you're there being stuck energy, how is
that fun?
Speaker 13 (17:24):
Right?
Speaker 6 (17:24):
Like what you want?
Speaker 12 (17:27):
But I'm all for people having fun.
Speaker 6 (17:28):
Everybody wants to able to enjoy the concert or whatever.
Like people are moving away from us.
Speaker 12 (17:33):
Like the band kept like looking over like with these
weird looks.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Like I think the band loved me. Actually I don't.
Speaker 12 (17:40):
I'm pretty sure they're actually trying to get security.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Okay, all right, you guys, I don't think this is
a match, so I'm gonna call it. Hang hang on,
you too, hang on? Okay Ah, that was a lot.
Uh Second date update seven oh five weekday mornings. You
got your replay at nine oh five. You can binge
listen over the weekend if you want on the iHeartRadio
app set a preset or variety from the two thousands,
the nineties and today. It's Star one, O one three,
(18:03):
It's Marcus, It's Halloween, and it is Ghost story Time.
My producer Taylor is joining us. So you have a
ghost story, something that happened at your parents' house.
Speaker 14 (18:13):
Yes, I want to tell you about the time that
I played with a wich aboard and there ended up
being some consequences for it.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Okay, before we get into it, I have to say,
Taylor and I have only been working together for a
few weeks, but you're so sunshiny and bubbly and lovely.
If you want to meet Taylor, go to the Star
one one three fm Instagram there are videos up, and
then your personal Instagram.
Speaker 15 (18:33):
Is Tay Love with two ease.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
She comes in here all bubbly and shiny. But I
feel like there's a dark side. I feel like if
we hung out after hours, there'd be like a seance
or something. Because you love horror movies, I do. You
love Halloween, I do, But for some reason today I
thought you were gonna come all crazy, scary and weird,
and you're dressed like an anglerfish. Yes, so there's a
Disney side to you too, which I adore.
Speaker 15 (18:57):
Yes, there has to be a good balance.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
All right, let's get back to absolute terror, the Ouiji
board experience at your parents' house and why you literally
said I still get chills.
Speaker 15 (19:07):
We had a Wiji aboard.
Speaker 14 (19:08):
This was a couple of years ago, and I didn't
really understand the gravity of a wig aboard at the time, obviously,
so me and my friend thought it'd be just a
fun idea to play it in my bedroom, you know,
why not. And we didn't really think anything of it
until the next day. The next day, I remember my
mom was home alone and she calls me and she goes, hey,
is anyone at the house.
Speaker 15 (19:28):
I was like, oh, no, like, you know, we're out,
We're about to come home.
Speaker 14 (19:31):
She's like, well, that's weird because I just got a
call on myself from the house phone. And she was
really confused as to how if no one was home,
how someone could use the landlight to call her personal
cell phone.
Speaker 15 (19:42):
So I said, you know what, I'm gonna come home.
I'll check everything out.
Speaker 14 (19:45):
So I race home with one of my friends and
we pull up and my mom is freaking out. She's like,
there's something going on, there's no one here. I'm hearing
weird noises. So I come in and immediately I can
hear from down the hall something fall And of course
my mom looked except me, and she goes, are you
gonna Are you gonna go check that out? I guess
(20:06):
I'll take one for the team. So I go down
the hallway. I don't really hear anything, but then all
of a sudden, I hear peter patter from the attic.
He sounds like someone's running across the road.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Tell me it was a raccoon, please, I mean, you
grew up in Little Gattows. It has to be a
raccoon or apostle.
Speaker 15 (20:20):
I wish I could say that, Marcus, I wish I could.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
But what was it? Well?
Speaker 14 (20:24):
I came down the hallway and all of a sudden,
the lights in my house start flickering, and we're freaking out.
Speaker 15 (20:30):
So we grabbed the family dog.
Speaker 14 (20:32):
We get in the car, and we're sitting in our
driveway looking at our house with the front door wide open,
and the lights are going crazy like Christmas lights on
and off all throughout the house, and we're freaking out.
Speaker 15 (20:43):
So we call my dad and we're.
Speaker 14 (20:45):
Like, Dad, we're so scared, Like, can you please come
check out the house?
Speaker 1 (20:48):
That's a firefighter. So so he stratched his cape on.
Speaker 14 (20:51):
Oh yes, he came home from work to come check
it out for us. Of course, by the time that
he got here, all the lights had turned off in
the house and we were just waiting, and the cops
had come and they were like, there's nothing going on,
you know, we haven't.
Speaker 15 (21:03):
We didn't find anything, and I've just I've never.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Experienced you know what the worst part about this story
is the scariest part to me is that it happened
in the daytime, right that violates the rules, you know
what I mean? When when weird stuff happens in the daytime,
then you know it's kind of legit. And so then
what happened to the Ouiji board?
Speaker 15 (21:22):
We burned it. We said no more Wija board. Oh
my god, letting an.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
This is the reason I don't do Halloween's. I don't
do this. This is this is why I'm dressed like
a Reese's peanut buttercup Right now? All right, who's got
a good ghost story? Paranormal experience? Eight hundred eight hundred
one oh one three. You can also leave a talkback
on the iHeartRadio app. It's that little red microphone if
you're streaming Star one on one three right now. And yes,
we've got your Disneyland hookup. Four pack of tickets coming
(21:48):
up at seven thirty five. Get ready to win. More
variety from the two thousands, the nineties and today it's
Star one oh one three, It's Marcus seven forty one.
Good morning, It's time for me good news.
Speaker 8 (22:02):
Sometimes all you need is what a good thought to
make it a great day.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
So let's do this. It's good news on Star.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
So we did a good news twice in the morning
seven and forty. One of my themes that I love
with good news is just when when a need arises
and then the community rises. We've been talking about this
all week government shutdown going on. I think we're on
day thirty or day thirty one. Tomorrow is the day
when millions of people across the country will lose their
(22:33):
Snap benefits. And if you're on Snap, like I as
a kid, we were like, you need them. It's not
a choice. And so a lot of restaurants are offering
free food for the kids, discounts for the parents. The
first one I saw and I gave him shout out
yesterday was Tony and Alba's Pizza and San Jose been
around for a thousand years. Thank you guys for kind
(22:55):
of spearheading al pastor Poppy in San Francis, Monster FA
in Oakland. Those are kind of the originators, and then
we have more and more. We were giving everybody shots
yesterday and I invited people to share restaurants and businesses
in their community that are doing kind of the same thing.
So I got a DM from Virginia down in morgan Hill. Hi, Marcus,
(23:18):
want to let you know that Coachy Kitchen and Morgan
Hill is giving away free meals for kids with a
snap card. I love that you are highlighting the businesses
that are looking out for people in their communities. I mean,
it's what we do and it's what I The most
I can do is to try to spread the word.
Also got a DM from Laura Beth in San Francisco.
Apparently there are a couple of bars in SF that
are teaming up. She owns Mission Bar on Mission in
(23:40):
twenty third. She says they've been doing monthly fundraisers for
different organizations all year, setting up November for the SF
Marin Food Bank and the Alameda County Community Food Bank,
joined by Molotovs in the Lower Height, which is another bar.
She says she's bringing in bins today for food collections
and they have specials on the board with a few
(24:02):
cocktails and some beers, and the profits from those will
be split between the organizations. So if you follow at
Mission Bar SF, you can follow at SF Molotovs And
thank you Laura Beth for what you're doing for the community.
Like let's just rally. It's what we do, you know.
So if you know of a business in your area
(24:23):
doing a very similar thing, let me know so I
can spread the word. You can always send a DM
follow at It's Marcus D on Instagram and we'll get
it all set up. Okay, tor one on one three,
It's Marcus. Who's this from? Where are we going to Disneyland?
Or what?
Speaker 13 (24:37):
My man?
Speaker 12 (24:38):
Oh my god, kidding me.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
You're going to Disneyland? You got a four pack of tickets?
Tell me the families in the car right now to
witness this. That's all right, that's all right, they're gonna
hear me on the radio. Good you're going. Brother. I
just want to say thank you for having us on
every morning and listening and waking up and all that
fun stuff. Get a shout out to the family, real quick.
Shout out to my wife Kiva Johannen and I both
(25:03):
of my daughters. They're all going beautiful baby. Congratulations Dad
of the Year. Don't let them take it away from you.
Speaker 12 (25:08):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Hang on, this has been the best day. Don't worry.
We got another shot to win eight thirty five. There's
also a second chance to win if you're on ig anyway.
It's a full vacation on the Star one on one
three FM, Instagram, well variety for the two thousands, the
nineties and today it's Star one O one three, It's Marcus,
it's Friday, It's Halloween. Let's go. This is what I'm
talking about. It's what's trending on Star one one three.
Speaker 8 (25:32):
What's happening in entertainment news, the biggest stories of the
day and everything people are talking about today.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
In the Bay.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
So Halloween weather Tonight's going to be solid highs in
the low sixties to mid seventies inland all around the Bay.
Partly cloudy but otherwise awesome. Producer Taylor jumping on the
mic to share it. We just saw the funniest thing
last minute Halloween costumes. This is a kin to buying
a Valentine's gift at a seven to eleven. But if
you need to limp in with something this evening and
(25:59):
you have nothing, give me the hitters? What do you got?
Speaker 14 (26:02):
So if you need a last minute costume idea, I
have a couple for you. First, we have a ghost.
I mean, all you really need is a simple bed
sheet and a pair of scissors.
Speaker 15 (26:11):
So that should be fun.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Literally is the standby? Right?
Speaker 14 (26:14):
Yeah, it's really the last minute one that I could
think of.
Speaker 15 (26:18):
Also, you could be a zombie. I mean also, again,
all you really need is.
Speaker 14 (26:23):
A pair of scissors, rip your clothes, kind of put
some makeup on, smudged eye makeup.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
Okay, that could be a fun line. I'm terrible. Got
one more, a cat.
Speaker 15 (26:33):
I feel like that one's always a go to.
Speaker 14 (26:35):
You just need black eyeliner and you can just draw
a little cat nose on some whiskers. I mean, you
just go rummage through your mom's makeup bag and you
should find something.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
If you need to borrow some cat Ears, Producer Taylor
has some. Yes, I actually wearing them yesterday. I took
me forever during lunch to go, wait, you're wearing cat
Ears right now? Yeah?
Speaker 14 (26:54):
And I actually bought them on my way to come
see you at Taylove on Instagram.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
If you want to meet producer Taylor to ease t
A Y l ov e E. Thank you so much.
Happy Halloween everyone. Reminder, we also fall back this weekend,
so we're going to get that extra hour of sleep
for you to deal with whatever it is that you
get into tonight, which is pretty awesome. Another reason to
love our girl, Billie Eilish, because be proud to be
(27:22):
an avocado. That's what she calls her fans. She called
out the billionaires. So she was doing an acceptance speech
at something called the WSJ Magazine Music Innovator Award was
what she received, and she said end I quote, if
you have money, it would be great for you to
use it for great things.
Speaker 9 (27:39):
Love you all, but there's a few people in here
that have a lot more money than me. And if
you're a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate,
but yeah, give your money away?
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Shorty's Billy Eilish calling him out. Apparently everybody laughed and clapped,
except Mark Zuckerberg, who was in attendance up by donating
check this out eleven point five million dollars from her
tour to food equity and climate initiatives. I love all
of that. Thank you, Billy Eilish, It is free Fridays.
Our partner this week is Marine Humane, who we love
(28:15):
our family up there in Marin We've got a dog
named Bernie who needs adopting, a cat named Pony, but
then we don't discriminate. We're all inclusive. We have a
rooster named Luke and even a kingsnake nick Falune that
all need adopting. Right now. You can go to the
Star one on one three FM Instagram stories for a
really cute video and all the adoption info that you
need right now, and they did share also. And this
(28:38):
is so poignant, what with the fact that a lot
of people are going to be losing their SNAP benefits
tomorrow if we don't figure out this government shutdown. Adoption
fees for adult cats at Marine Humane that's five months
in older are currently waived, meaning you can get a
new fur baby a new kiddy for free. This will
run through Sunday. And then if you are a Marine
County resident and you're going to be losing your SNAP benefits,
(29:00):
need help feeding your pets, their safety Net program is
stepping up distributions from their pet food pantry, So if
you need help, contact Marine Humane for support. If you
want to help them out, maybe you're in a position
to be able to donate and fill the pantry. They
do have an increased need, and that also obviously extends
(29:20):
to all the food banks for people with food insecurities
as well. So let's just all rally together. If you
have the means, if you can make it happen. I
know you're going to do the right thing, and I
appreciate you very much. You want to check out all
the info on free Fridays again the Star one one
three FM Instagram. The link is up in our stories
variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's
Star one oh one three. It's Marcus. It's time to
(29:41):
play the bass favorite trivia game. It's called what you
