Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's a star one on one three. It's Marcus in
the morning. Five fifty seven right before six o'clock. Producer
Taylor is here.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
What a whirlwind weekend. You were traveling. I was for
a celebration of life in Utah, which apparently is still
the most beautiful place on Earth.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I love Utah. I genuinely do.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Do you see salt flats when you go out there?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
No, no, I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Go to Salt Lake. Then what part of Utah do
you go to?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
We either go to Clearfield or Park City.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
OK. And the family vibe was good. Taylor was telling
me off the air that she had green chili something
or other.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Oh, my gosh.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
No, it was so delicious. It was green chili, rice
and beans. And those are things I don't normally gravitate towards, too.
But what she did was delicious.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
When Tia puts the love in there, you see.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I could taste the love. That's what made it that good.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Literally making me hungry right now.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Right.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
I made chicken soup over the weekend for us.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I'm so excited.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Oh, I forgot the noodles.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
No. It's just broth.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
It's broth and the chunks.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
The chunks.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
The chunkies. You know, the things.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Well, we can work with that.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
That's anticlimactic. What did I do this weekend? We, so
fundraiser for the Coastal Rep Theater raised a bunch of money.
It was the summer of 1967 was the theme.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Oh, cute.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
So part of my weekend picks will be me wearing
Paisley and a wig. Other than that, Whiskies of the
World on Friday at, where was that? That was at
the Half Moon Bay Brewery. I ran into our old Congresswoman,
Jackie Speier.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Oh, wow.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
And she says she listens every morning.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Oh, that's so sweet.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
I said, ma'am, I'm a huge fan of you. She's, yeah,
I'm a huge fan of yours. I'm... Hey, here we are.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Oh, I love that.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
This is so neat. Anyway, these are things you can say,
small talk, rather than just, so what do you do?
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Some of these hit and some of them I think
are kind of won't work. This is a good one.
This is the one I always lead with. So how
do you know so-and-so? What made you come to this thing?
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Solid.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Probably haven't had a cocktail yet.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Here's one that's deep. This is like, okay, two cocktails deep.
I will hit you with this one. Tell me, Taylor,
if you had a completely free Saturday, no obligations, how
would you spend it?
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yeah, it's a light, easy question.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
That's almost like a date question, isn't it?
Speaker 2 (02:31):
No, I feel like it's a light question. Okay.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Here's one that won't work, in my opinion. These events
always start a bit awkward and then somehow become fun. Ha, ha, ha.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
I don't like that one.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Or, I never quite know how to start conversations with
these things, but it usually works out.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
That's a little awkward.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Those are so awkward.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
Right?
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Here, try that one on me.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
No. I don't like it.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Because you know what my answer would be? Yeah. Oh, gosh.
And now we're still just staring at each other, wondering
when to exit for the bathroom.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Right.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Here's another one that I do think would work. Hey,
I'm trying to decide on something good here. Have you
tried anything you'd actually recommend? Or, hey, I'm looking for
a good, insert name of a drink, insert name of
a place, insert name of a book. Anything you could recommend?
I feel like if you ever ask somebody's advice, now
(03:31):
we're off to the races.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah, people love giving advice.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Especially me.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Oh, yeah, I know. Unsolicited.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
You're about to get dad mansplained. You asked the wrong
question at the wrong time. Here's another one. that I
do like a lot. And again, we're talking about ways
for small talk rather than, Hey, so what do you do?
That's that question is so gross. And then I think,
I don't know if they still do this, but in
Southern California. So what do you drive?
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Oh, really?
Speaker 1 (03:58):
That was always a question.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
And people don't, I don't think people ever asked me
that they're.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Trying to ascertain your worth. Um, this one works. I've
been hearing a lot about name, a place, name, a show, name,
a trend. Is it actually worth it? So anyway, there
you go. Little nuggets. If you were ever so lucky
as to encounter Taylor in the wild, she will talk
your ear off. What are your favorite like questions? Taylor
(04:23):
loves to play. Would you rather?
Speaker 2 (04:24):
I know I do a lot of, would you rather
clean ones for us right now? Not off the top
of my head. Only the worst of the worst.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
The ones that she does are savage, too.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
They are.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
They're like four cocktails deep questions.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
I know.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
It is crazy. But usually I love talking about movies.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Like anytime there's a show, a movie, or a celebrity.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Gossip, I'm all there.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Always. All right. What is your go-to? That's the question.
Talking small talk other than, so what do you do?
What keeps you busy outside of work is good. Are
you looking forward to anything this year is good. Anything
you want to add, you can hit us with a talkback.
It's the little red microphone. If you're streaming, star 1013
right now on the iHeartRadio app. Getting you ready for
the work week. Maybe you are looking for a job.
(05:10):
These are interview tips that help people land that job immediately.
I love this, Taylor, because all of these suggestions are
top tier.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
As someone who has hired and fired, these are great.
Number one, be excited about the position. Somebody literally wrote,
I can't tell you how many people just show up
with dead eyes. Enthusiasm matters.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Aww.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
And I will tell you, for us, with what we do,
it's not enough to just say, hey, I want to
come work at the radio station. You have to say,
I want to come work at your station for you
or with you because blank.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
That's enthusiasm. Simple. Another one that I love, remember their names.
Taylor's really good at this. Casually refer to them in
the conversation.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Yes. No, I always hear this. If you repeat somebody's
name back to them three times within them telling you besties,
usually you'll have a better chance of remembering.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Again, we're talking about top tier tips, how to land
the job. This is another great one. Don't forget, people
have different senses of humor. What works for one interviewer
will fall flat with another. Some may take the interview
very seriously. and see any attempted humor as overly casual, flippant, nonchalant,
or just plain weird. Be pleasant, be enthusiastic, and smile.
(06:29):
Don't try to be funny. This doesn't work in our industry.
Because the problem with what we do is, like, I'm
a DJ, and the boss is probably a former DJ,
so we're going to try to out-funny each other through
the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
That's going to be weird. What else do we have?
This is great. If it's a phone interview, smile when
you talk. It adds pep to your voice and makes
you seem more personable. Do not do this in a
video interview as you will look unhinged. However, but it
always works in phone interviews. What do we always say
when we're talking on the air? Make sure you're smiling.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Yeah, you can hear the smile.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
If you saw our faces while we were talking, you
would think we were absolute nutjobs. You probably think that anyway,
but it doesn't matter. The last question you should always
ask in an interview, if not already discussed. This is great.
So what are the next steps in the process?
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Yeah, I like that.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
This always shows that you want to move forward, gives
you a good guide on whether they want to move
you forward.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Can you imagine they don't want to? They've decided, like,
what do they say?
Speaker 2 (07:32):
They already know, like, mid-interview.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
You're not the one. Yeah. How do you get out
of that? So what are the next steps? Oh. We'll
be in touch. That's the one.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah, I mean, that's pretty much it. We'll let you know.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Seven face-to-face interviews in and you just got ghosted.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Right.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
That's the reality. All right.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Here we go. Now here's what's trending in the Bay
Area and beyond.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Lots to catch you up on over the weekend. Dolly
Parton was laid to rest in a private ceremony. And
then Tennessee governor and the Nashville mayor support renaming Nashville
International Airport after Dolly. petition that's topped 160,000 signatures, although
the change would probably cost him about $ 10 million. Oh, wow.
(08:14):
But I'll be honest with you, it should probably been
done already.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Right.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
In my opinion, ICON. They're going to be discussing this
on September 17th. I will keep you posted. Lots of
star artist music news. Let's start with Harry Styles, who
made a joke at his Madison Square Garden show. He
called Madison Square Garden the home of the Knicks. And
then he Very cheekily said, oh, they also do weddings.
That's a good one. Speaking of Taylor Swift, she just
(08:41):
donated $ 50, 000 to a lady in Connecticut. This is a
mom who was seriously injured after helping teenagers who had
just been in a car crash. Her name's Ashley. She
pushed one kid out of the path of another vehicle
and just, you know, medical bills. So Taylor donated to
her GoFundMe 50 grand. Super cool. Nice. Speaking of raising money,
(09:03):
Olivia Rodrigo and her first ever Daisy Chain Fields Festival
raised $ 10 million for nonprofits supporting women and girls. And then,
so Melinda French Gates and her organization, Pivotal, matched the
$ 10 million.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
So overall, $ 20 million. We love that. I think that's fantastic.
Olivia brought out some hitters. She performed with Sarah McLachlan.
She performed with Alanis Morissette with Stevie Nicks. Everybody who
was anybody was there. I had so much FOMO.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
I know. Seeing everything on Instagram, I was like, wow,
that looks like a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Our co-workers at iHeartLA, dude, they had carte blanche to
that whole thing. I'm so jealous. Let's see what else.
Tom Holland just became the third highest grossing actor ever
worldwide behind Zoe Saldana and Scarlett Johansson. So this doesn't
mean money he's making. This means money that he has
(09:58):
made for the studios. More than $ 2. 8 billion in his
career between The Odyssey and Spider-Man Brand New Day and
all the other movies that he's done. So congratulations there.
Let's see. Oh, Phineas and Claudia Salewski.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
No, Salewski.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
I practiced this off the air like crazy. I know.
Apparently they're married. He is famously a writer of the
songs or co-writer, but also Billie Eilish's brother.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
So they tied the knot Saturday in Santa Barbara. And
I guess Billie Eilish was the officiant.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
I know. I saw that.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Is this why you became an officiant? Because Billie Eilish
is an officiant?
Speaker 2 (10:39):
No, I was an officiant first.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Guests at the wedding included Justin and Hailey Bieber, Jason Sudeikis,
Kristen Bell and and more. Let's finish strong with Producer
Taylor's Daily Poll. What do you have?
Speaker 4 (10:52):
It is National Eat Outside Day today. So we're asking,
where are you eating? The beach, at a park, a
restaurant patio, or in your backyard?
Speaker 1 (11:01):
All that and more. Alfresco, if you will.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
You can participate. If you go to Star1013FM on Instagram,
it's in the stories. It's Marcus in the Morning. Back
from the weekend with Second Date Update. Let's go ahead
and go for it. Eric is waiting patiently. Eric, good morning.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Morning.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
I want to hear about your date. I understand she
has ghosted. What did you guys end up doing?
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Well, we went out to dinner in Santa Clara and
we had a good time. And yeah, and then the
next day she just wasn't there anymore. She wasn't responding anymore. Okay.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
And it felt right? The vibe was right?
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Yeah, we had a great time. I thought, you know,
it was a good dinner, a good conversation.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
We're going to call Samantha and try to figure out
why she ghosted on you. Go ahead and mute your phone, bud.
Here we go.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
Hello?
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Hi, I'm looking for Samantha.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
This is she.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Samantha, it's Marcus calling from Star 101.3.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Hi.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Good morning.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Do you listen in the morning?
Speaker 5 (12:05):
I do.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Excellent.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
Well.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
It's second date update time. I don't know if you
know what that means.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
I sure do. Great.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Great. How's your dating life?
Speaker 5 (12:17):
You know, it's been better.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
So have you been on a date recently? Maybe you
go see this gentleman. Maybe.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
I'm assuming.
Speaker 6 (12:27):
Is this about Eric?
Speaker 2 (12:28):
It is.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
Eric, are you there? Yes.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Yeah, I'm right here.
Speaker 5 (12:33):
All right.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
This is going to be easy. Here we are, you guys.
So everybody knows the assignment. Samantha, how was the date
from your perspective? Ultimately, I'd love to know why you ghosted,
but please. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
So, I mean, it was going well. You know, we
had a nice dinner and everything. And I thought there
was potential for a second date. We had a good dinner.
And then when the check came, like Eric couldn't find
his wallet all of a sudden.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Which was like a little odd. And he like, you know,
checked all of his like pockets and his jacket and
his car. And he was like really embarrassed about it.
And so, you know, I was like, no problem. I'll
front the bill. It's totally fine. And then the next
morning I texted him to see if he found his wallet.
And he was like, yes. And so I was like, great. Like,
where was it? And he was like, it was in
(13:26):
my other pants. But then I remembered that. That like
he literally had paid cash for parking like right before
the dinner started.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
Which means his wallet was on his person. So I
called him out and yeah, clearly he didn't lose his wallet.
That it was all just like a total lie.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
I'm confused. Eric, let's go to you. What's happening here? Hey,
I know that sounds really like messed up. Believe me,
I wasn't trying to get like a free meal.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Out of this.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
It was actually a test.
Speaker 5 (14:02):
A test? For what?
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Well, I wanted to see how you'd react if something
went wrong financially.
Speaker 5 (14:09):
Okay, so you made me pay $ 140?
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Hey, I asked, I mean, I said, like, I'd Venmo
you afterwards. Like, I just, I mean, I was there
with that. So it's not like it's all on you.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
Okay, but after I passed your test, then you would
Venmo me?
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Yeah, I mean, technically you did really well because, you know,
you paid for it and things were fine.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
I did well. Okay, well, did you do well? What?
Because you failed my test.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Wow. You guys, hang on. Okay. Hang on, please. Hang on. Samantha?
Speaker 5 (14:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (14:47):
That guy's a toolbox. We're not doing this right? Like,
no second date, right? No. Listen to me, we.
Speaker 6 (14:54):
No.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
No.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
No.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Okay. Just wanted to be sure.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
This testing business is crazy.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
So we're discussing the upcoming Labor Day holiday. And Taylor
referred to it as next Monday.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Yeah, because it is next Monday.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
No, it's this coming Monday.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
That's not what you said. You said this Monday.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Yeah, it's this Monday. This coming Monday.
Speaker 5 (15:16):
No.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
What? This Monday is today. Next Monday.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
No, this Monday is not today.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
No, so if I say next Monday, then it would
be the following Monday?
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
No, that doesn't make sense.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
You're being ambiguous.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
No, because next Monday is a week from today, because
today's Monday is now.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Are you saying that this Monday is also not correct?
Speaker 2 (15:39):
This Monday is today.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
No.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
No, it's not. Yes, it is.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
See, if you said this Monday and it was Tuesday,
that would make sense. Then that would be next Monday.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
This is so stupid! But it's making me crazy!
Speaker 2 (15:53):
No, what you're saying doesn't make sense.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Okay, so let's distill it down because I'm sure we've
confused everyone. Half the audience probably turned the radio off.
If you're referring to the Monday coming up and it
is Monday, do you call it This coming Monday, this Monday,
or next Monday? Which one is grammatically correct? That's the question.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
No, you're being fake right now because you just added
in the this coming Monday right now. You weren't saying
that before when we had this argument. You were saying
this Monday.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Come at me, bro. Take it out.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
See, now this doesn't make sense because if you think
about how the week goes, right? It's from Sunday to Saturday.
That's the week.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
This Monday would be today.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Not if it's today.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
You don't make sense. No, because next Monday would be
next Monday.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Okay, we have to bring it back. What are my choices?
Either refer to it as next Monday, Team Taylor, or
this Monday, Team Marcus, Team me. Who's correct?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
There's only one right answer.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Talk back's open.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah, settle our debate.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
I'm so annoyed right now. It's the Little Red Microphone.
If you're streaming Star 101.3 right now, leave us a
quick message. Grammar police, we need you.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Yeah, he's getting all flustered. He's taking his jacket off.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to
ask my boyfriend, Chet GPT, and see what he says.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
You know, your boyfriend, Chet, isn't always right.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
We'll see. All right, we'll follow up on this in
a sec, but please drop a talk back if you've
got a moment. Love you for it. Thank you. The
show has been officially derailed by the dumbest thing ever.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
I love it, though.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
I love the fact that everybody's checking in on this
argument that we're having off the air. Let me set
the scene. Taylor and I were talking about Labor Day,
and I said, yeah, it's this Monday. She goes, no,
it's next Monday. I said, no, that's not how that works.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
It is.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
And you contend that if you're sitting on Monday, which
we are today, it's Monday. then this Monday is actually
next Monday. This makes total sense when we're talking about
it off the air. Once I go on the air
with it and start talking, now it's like I'm trying
to explain a dream. Is everybody following the argument? So
is it Team Marcus referring to this Monday as this Monday,
(18:15):
or are you Team Taylor referring to Labor Day as
next Monday.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Marcus, this is.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
Heather from the South Bay, and I'm sorry, you know
I love you, but Taylor's got this one.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Labor Day is next Monday.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Have a great morning, you guys.
Speaker 5 (18:30):
Period.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Go off, Queen.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
It would be next Monday.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
That's mine.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
This is John from Knoxville, Tennessee. I would say next Monday.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Because a week from today is next Monday.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
John, you're right.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
John checking us out on the iHeartRadio app. I forget
we're nationwide sometimes.
Speaker 6 (18:49):
I would actually say this coming Monday. I would not
say next week. I would not look at the calendar
in terms of a Sunday through Saturday because if I
say the next Monday, it would be the Monday after
this coming Monday. I would look at it in terms
of when that Monday.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Is coming in order of people.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Wait, what? She's getting very granular. I'm sure that all
made sense.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
Right.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
Hey, Marcus and Taylor, we're going to go with this
next Monday because I love you both.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Adorable.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
Good morning, Marcus and Taylor. Sorry, Marcus.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Taylor's right. Labor Day would be next Monday.
Speaker 5 (19:29):
If you were talking about something this current week, like Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
I would say this Wednesday, this Thursday, this Friday, Labor
Day would be next Monday.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Lori and Palo Alto, have a great day.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Lori, you're correct. Thank you.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Taylor is the same person who refers to the regional
area that she grew up in as South Bay instead
of the... South Bay. So your cred is nil.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
What do you mean my cred is nil? Do you
hear all these people agreeing with me?
Speaker 1 (19:56):
We have to go. I can't.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
It just feels so good to be right.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
All right. We're talking about if you're on Monday, you're
sitting on Monday like we are today, and you're referencing
Labor Day. Taylor says you call it next Monday. I
say you call it this Monday. What's the deal? Talkback's
coming in. If you're on the day, you're not going
to say this Monday. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
You're just going to refer to the next Monday as
this Monday or next Monday. But you're not going to
be on the day and say this Monday.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
That doesn't make sense. Thank you. Finally, I got one.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
I disagree. Okay, Marcus and Taylor, here's where I'm at
with this.
Speaker 6 (20:29):
Next week is next week, so that would mean that
it's next Monday. It's not this week.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
It wouldn't be this Monday.
Speaker 6 (20:36):
However, I would argue that if it was Friday or
Saturday of this week, you'd just say Monday.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
You wouldn't say this Monday or next Monday.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
Love you, bye.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
That's a whole other argument. No, I could agree with that.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Hi, Marcus.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
This is Donna.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Hey, Donna.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
I never agree with you, and I totally agree with
you on this one.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
Monday now is already here, so Labor Day is this Monday.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
You're right.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
I love that she threw that disclaimer. Like, I never
agree with you, Marcus.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I can't stand you. I don't know why. I actually
hate listening to your show. Perfect.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
But this one time, I agree.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
And those last two words, the hardest words Donna's ever said.
To me. Where did it go?
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Hold on.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Oh, I'm being terrible right now. Never mind.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
You're right.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Uh-huh.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
You're right.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
That's all I wanted to hear.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
Well, don't get used to it.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
All right, let's move on. It's time for.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Good news, Bay Area.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
This is great news. As a life was saved, a
guy by the name of Rob, a very experienced climber,
got rescued from a six-inch ledge in a 15-hour mission
in the Sierras. This is like Mono Lake, Mono County Sheriff.
So he's got like tons of experience. He was stranded.
Just imagine this on a six inch ledge, more than
(21:57):
10,000 feet in the air in the Sierras. He veered
off route while climbing Laurel Mountain and trapped. And if
he had fallen, it would have been over. So they
spent a couple of hours locating him. And they tried
to reach him on foot after high winds made a
helicopter rescue impossible. Working in the dark, a rescuer climbed
down to him from above, secured him to a rope system,
(22:21):
and the team brought him to safety. The entire rescue
took about 15 hours. This is volunteer search and rescue too.
And they saved his life. And he was super thankful.
And they really just credited his will to live besides
having massive cramps. and probably thinking he wasn't going to
make it. So that is good news. It's Marcus in
(22:43):
the morning. It's time to play the Bay's favorite trivia game.
This is called What You Know About That. Brought to
you by Cameron's Pub in Half Moon Bay. A quick
ride from San Jose or the city 30 minutes to
the coast side. Make a plan for the weekend. They've
got a hotel. They've got RV hookups. Maybe I'll see
you there. Let's say good morning to our contestants. We
go to Castro Valley and say good morning to Princess.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Hello. Good morning, Marcus and Taylor.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
What are you doing this morning?
Speaker 2 (23:04):
Dropped off my kids to school.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Let me get some names.
Speaker 5 (23:07):
Ayla and Darren.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
I love it. Mom's locked in. She's ready to play.
Let's do this. Take you all the way down to
Morgan Hill and say hi to Jason. Good morning, Jason.
Speaker 5 (23:15):
Good morning, Marcus and Taylor.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
What's going on with you, Jason?
Speaker 4 (23:18):
Same.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Dropped off my daughter to high school and getting ready
for a meeting.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Excellent. What's her name?
Speaker 4 (23:23):
Emma.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
Emma.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
All right, let's go ahead and get started. Game's simple.
It's five questions, 50 seconds. You're going to yell out
pass if you don't know an answer, and we'll come
back to it if there's time. Get as many right
as you can. Here we go. Jason goes on hold
in Morgan Hill. We start in Castro Valley with Princess.
All right, Princess, you ready? Yes. Question number one. Who
is the first president of the United States? George Washington.
(23:47):
How many feet are in one yard?
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Two feet.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
What is the smallest continent in the world?
Speaker 5 (24:01):

Speaker 1 (24:06):

name of the singing group that Camila Cabello was part
of before she went solo? Cats Eye. And what is
(24:26):
the smallest continent in the world? Hang on the line
for me. All right, Princess goes on hold. And we
jump to Jason in Morgan Hill. All right, Jason, it's
five questions, 50 seconds. Yell out pass if you don't
know an answer. You ready?
Speaker 5 (24:43):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Question number one. Who is the first president of the
United States?
Speaker 1 (24:50):
George Washington.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
How many feet are in one yard?
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Three.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
What is the smallest continent in the world?
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Pass.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
How many sides does a hexagon have?
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Six.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
And what is the name of the singing group Camila
Cabello was part of before she went solo?
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Ask. Go back to the first one you passed on.
What is the smallest continent in the world?
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Australia.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
And what is the name of the singing group Camila
Cabello was a part.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Of when she went solo?
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Hang on the line for me. All right, Princess comes
back in Castro Valley. We'll see how she did against
Jason and Morgan Hill. Question number one. Who is the
first president of the United States?
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Glad that both of you knew that that was George Washington.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
Question two. How many feet are in one yard?
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Princess said two. Jason said three. The answer we're looking
for was three.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Question three. What is the smallest continent in the world?
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Jason knew that that is Australia.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
Question four. How many sides does a hexagon have?
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Both of you said six, and that was correct.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
And finally, what was the name of the singing group
that Camila Cabello was part of before she went solo?
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Princess said Cat's Eye.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
The answer we're looking for was Fifth Harmony. So that
brings our final score, four to two. Jason's our winner.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Jason!
Speaker 5 (26:20):
Woo!
Speaker 3 (26:20):
All right.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
You win, brother.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
Nice work.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Got a $ 100 gift card to Dave and Custers. Princess,
we're going to get you a custom bedazzled star sticker.
My daughter hooked up a bunch of star stickers for
her summer project. You can stick them wherever you like, okay?
Speaker 5 (26:33):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (26:35):
