Marcus attended the free concert hosted by Train to celebrate their new album release at Haight Street in San Francisco. This was a special performance because they performed in front of the pub where they started 32 years ago. Check out our social medias for live performance videos and sneak peak of new song.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Friday, y'all, we made it. I was just reviewing the
videos of Train taking over the hate yesterday. I was
there in the crowd. I got a good spot. And
there was so much love. Thousands of people. They brought
out Matt Nathanson. They brought out Harris Barton, who used
to play for the 49ers. They brought out the mayor.

(00:20):
What a love fest that was. Who was there? You're
probably not awake yet, to be totally honest with you.
What a great afternoon. And by the way, it reminded me,
I haven't been to The Hate in a minute, so
maybe you're the same if you get a chance. Hit
up the NJU to roll out there. So many cute
shops in The Hate in San Francisco. Maybe it's the weekend.

(00:40):
I don't know. We've got more shows coming up. I've
got some new music coming up I have to tell
you about. Happy Friday, everyone. They just released a gigantic
survey on happy hour, and It has evolved, and it's
actually very interesting to me. Friday, today, still the favorite day,
but it turns out most people don't even want to
go to a bar or restaurant anymore.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
What?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Why? Half of the people surveyed would prefer to happy
hour at home. Oh. It's just so expensive.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
It is cheaper.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Dude, my pores are better. My drinks are stronger. I
got better snacks.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yes, this is true.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
I would say we happy hour'd yesterday after the train
performance in the Upper Haight.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yeah, we definitely did.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
So the crew and I ended up at a bar
and the topics of conversation during happy hour, number one
is just spilling the tea.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Of course.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Number two, reminiscing. And number three, complaining a little bit
about work. I appreciated the fact that one of them
on there was celebrating wins. I feel like we did
that yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
I feel like it was a big love fest and
we just talked about how much fun we're having on
the show.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
We're good at celebrating our wins.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
The other stat that got me was solo happy hours
are a thing.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Yeah, you've never done that?

Speaker 1 (01:46):
It's just, oh, of course I have.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Come on.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
So one quarter of the respondents say the best happy
hours are actually solo happy hours. I guess that's just
drinking alone.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
That number jumps up to 40% if you're Gen Z.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Really?

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Because that's you. Yeah. So like your friends just want
to be by themselves?

Speaker 3 (02:03):
I know. Everyone's introverted these days.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
What does your happy hour look like? Like literally your
phone set up and four people on the screen, like
with those... stupid zoom happy hours during covid god.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I hated those oh my goodness.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
There's nothing like hanging out together right you know what
i mean what are people drinking these days during happy
hour i don't know if i believe this but says
non-alcoholic drinks are the go-to for 60 percent.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Like a mocktail or a water or something i i can't.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Relate to no me neither let's move on Your favorite places.
If you're not in a restaurant or a bar, people
enjoy hanging out in the backyard, on the couch or
on the porch, like in the front, you know, or
on your deck or whatever. Okay. I do enjoy going
home on a Tuesday and having an impromptu happy hour
with the neighbors. Like you literally just text like, hey,

(02:49):
what are y'all doing? And then they just wander over. Yeah.
And then all of a sudden it's an impromptu taco night.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Oh, I like that.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Do you ever do this?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
No, I'm not in cahoots with my neighbors.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yeah. Taylor falls into the solo happy hour category.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
When I do solo happy hour, I like going to
the bar and just talking to random people. That's what
I usually end up doing.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Okay. I know people that would actually give them hives
to talk to strangers. What? Well, because then what happens
if like you're done talking, but they're not done talking
and then they just keep talking to you.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
There's so many ways around this. You can go to
the bathroom.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
You're a pro.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Yeah, of course.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Happy Friday again. Weather's going to be spectacular. I think
that today is the day for an outdoor patio happy hour.

Speaker 6 (03:31):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
This cracked me up. If people around you use these phrases,
they're only pretending to like you. What's funny is at
my age, I don't hang out with anybody or interact
with anybody I don't like. I just... Oh, okay.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
You cut them loose.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
I was going to say, the phrase I use is
complete silence.

Speaker 7 (03:49):
Bye.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
But I'm sure people do this. So if you hear
these phrases, they're only pretending to like you. See if
you use any of these. Maybe somebody's got one. Top
of the list. Oh, we should totally hang out sometime. Aww.
Without giving it a date, a time.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah, no further planning.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Here's another one I love. Oh my God, I'm so
bad at texting people.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Okay, but I am bad at texting people.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
My wife is bad at texting people. I can't get
a text back from my own lady sometimes.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Maybe she don't like you.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Don't look at me like that. Here's another one. You're
something else.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Okay. Yeah. That gives me uneasy vibes.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
So give me something that you say when you're just
pretending to like somebody, Taylor. Go.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
I'm like, to each their own, I guess.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Have you ever used that on a date? Probably.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Of course.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
I don't agree with all my dates. Most of the
time I don't.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Mine isn't necessarily I don't like you. Again, there's nobody
in my world that I don't like, but there are
people in my world that I will never hang out
with just because it just seems exhausting. Like if you,
I live in Half Moon Bay. My best friend lives
in West Pittsburgh. We never hang out. We talk on
the phone all the time, but he might as well
live in Nevada in my head. But I have guys

(05:00):
that'll hit me up and be like, dude, we should
hang out. I had to go through my phone to
see which phrases I use. On text, I've literally written,
let's do it! Exclamation point.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Lies.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Oh, for sure! Exclamation point. If you ever get that
text from me, it's not that I don't like you.
It's just I don't have any room on my dance card.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Yeah, you're not going to prioritize a hangout.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
So think about it. Give us a phrase that you
use when you're just pretending to like somebody. You're just
trying to get through that interaction and move on with
your day. You can use the talkback on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Now, here's what's trending in the Bay Area and beyond.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Marcus, in the morning, your number one trender here locally
is the Pokemon World Championships, which have now taken over
San Francisco. It became very apparent to me as I
was headed back to the radio station after the train
event in the hate, and everybody was on the T-Line. Oh, no,
it was the N-Juda. I mean, Pikachu was on board, dude.

(05:53):
It's real. It's happening. It's happening. Um, it's the world
championships running through Sunday at Moscone center. These are the
best in the world of Pokemon players on all the games,
the trading card game, the video game, um, other fan activities.
There's going to be stuff going on at chase center.
There's going to be all kinds of pop-ups and just

(06:14):
in time for that, there is a major, uh, two
80 slowdown this weekend, starting tonight at 10 o'clock lasting
until noon Sunday. Caltrans says they're closing two of the
three lanes in both directions and of 280 between Mariposa
Street and the 280-101 interchange. One lane will be open
each way through the stretch. I experienced this last night
after the Giants game. So the good news is no

(06:36):
ramps are closing in that stretch of 280, and they
say there may be delayed or adjusted around traffic and
stuff going on around Chase Center and Oracle Park. So
if you don't have to be on that stretch of
the city, I would not do it this weekend. It's
going to be busy for sure. Super sad news. The
scale of the flooding along the Nepal-China border continues to grow.
At least 472 people have been killed. More than 1,500

(06:59):
reported missing as of today. People from more than 30 countries,
among them missing, was triggered by a flash flooding following
a glacial collapse. I know we have a large Nepalese community,
especially in the East Bay, and we're thinking about you
and your families. And I will definitely keep you posted

(07:20):
on that. It is furry Fridays today. Our partner this
week is Berkeley humane. You can get adoption info at
one on one three.com slash furry Fridays. They have it's
kitty season for sure. So if you are looking for
a new kitten, this is the day again, one on
one three.com slash furry Fridays. And then coming up tomorrow,
don't miss out. They have bark and meow around the block.

(07:40):
It's their big party. Hundreds of adoptable pets going to
be taking over in Berkeley tomorrow on campus at Berkeley humane.
It's California's largest single location adoption event, more than, 30
shelters are going to be represented. And a lot of
adoption fees are going to be waived. So, again, if
you need a new fur baby in your life, this
might be the weekend to do it. Plus, there's going

(08:00):
to be live music, food, local beer. They always throw
down at Berkeley Humane. It's always a good time. That's
tomorrow from 10 to 4 at Berkeley Humane there on
9th Street. It's second date update time. Let's go. Let's
just bring Jason on. Jason, are you there? Yeah, I'm
right here.

Speaker 7 (08:15):
Hey, dude.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
So? Hey, man. Tell us about Nicole. Yeah, I don't
know what's going on because, you know, we went up
to Walnut Creek and had a great dinner. Okay. We
had a great time, laughing like crazy, and I don't know,
afterwards she just goes at me. Can we think about,
just think back, did anything strange happen? No, it was

(08:37):
a good time all the way through.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
All right, well, you know how we do. We've been
doing it for like a decade. I'm going to call
her with you on the phone. So you'll be able
to listen in. I'm going to ask her how the
date went for her. And we're going to go from there.
I'm going to be, I don't know if it's a
wingman situation where I try to get you a second
date or just let me give it my best shot.
Let's hope, man.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Let's hope. Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Right.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (09:05):
Hello.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Hi, is this Nicole?

Speaker 6 (09:07):
This is Shane.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Hey, Nicole. It's Marcus calling from Star 101.3. Hi. Buenos dias.
I listen to.

Speaker 6 (09:12):
You guys all the time.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
I love it. I love it. Do you have a
second to be on the air?

Speaker 6 (09:18):
I do actually.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Awesome. Do you know about second date update?

Speaker 6 (09:25):
I do.

Speaker 7 (09:26):
Great.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Have you been on a date recently with someone who
may or may not be on the phone with me
right now?

Speaker 6 (09:38):
I have. I have been on a date recently.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Okay. Should I bring Jason on now or later?

Speaker 6 (09:47):
I mean, yeah, the more the merrier, I guess. Hello, Jason.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Jason.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
Hey, Nicole.

Speaker 5 (09:55):
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (09:56):
This is going to be easy. So, Nicole, did you
ghost on our guy here?

Speaker 6 (10:02):
I did. I did.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (10:04):
I did.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Where did he screw up? How was the date? How
was the date?

Speaker 6 (10:13):
Well, did he tell you guys about the date?

Speaker 1 (10:15):
I mean, he said it was a good time. He
said y'all had dinner together. I didn't, we had a
good time together. Did he leave something out?

Speaker 6 (10:25):
It was, it was a good day.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
It was, it was good until, um, well, so yeah,
everything was totally normal.

Speaker 6 (10:32):
But then at the very end.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Um, our waiter came by and, and he like came
with a cake and like the whole staff started singing
happy birthday.

Speaker 6 (10:42):
Okay. And I was like, it's not my birthday. This
is weird.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
But they sung happy birthday to Jason. And I didn't
set that up. So he must have set it up.
So I join in, right? And we're all singing. And
then he gets a free dessert.

Speaker 6 (10:56):
Sounds like fun. Yeah, it was cute.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
I mean, he didn't tell me it was his birthday. Well, anyway,
so the manager got him a birthday shot. And on
the way out, I'm like, so what are you doing
for the rest of your birthday weekend?

Speaker 6 (11:12):
And he was like, oh, my birthday's in November. And
I was like, it's August. And he was like, well, I.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Just tell restaurants that it's my birthday all the time
to get free stuff.

Speaker 6 (11:28):
And I was like, okay. I mean, it's just like,
it's weird. It was weird.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
It was weird.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
It's not even weird, man.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
It's like, it's just fun.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
It's just fun. It's harmless.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
So you just, you just do this. Yeah. Every once
in a while.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Right. Like, The thing is, is, like, the entire restaurant
sang to.

Speaker 6 (11:51):
You, you know?

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Yeah, and everybody was having a good time, you know?

Speaker 6 (11:57):
Right, but I thought it was your birthday.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Jason, do you, like, plan this out, or is it spontaneous? Like,
if you're just feeling it, or what?

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Well, no, I've done it a couple times, and, you know,
maybe I have kept a list of some of the
restaurants that, you know, give fun perks.

Speaker 6 (12:15):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 7 (12:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (12:18):
Okay, well, just a quick question. Like, how many birthdays
have you had this year?

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Okay, at restaurants, maybe, I don't know, nine? At restaurants?

Speaker 5 (12:31):
Like, other places?

Speaker 6 (12:32):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Yeah, coffee shops. Like, there's other places you can have births.

Speaker 6 (12:38):
So you were, like, 37 going on 46. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
That's some sort of... Yeah, did I... I was going
to say that some sort of weird girl math, boy math,
birthday math. I don't know what that was, but cool.
So you can have my cake next time.

Speaker 7 (12:56):
We'll share it.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
I am so sorry, Jason, but like, I don't think
that there's going to be another birthday with me.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
We do love talking about food on this show. So
here's some hard hitting journalism. What is the real reason
most Americans can't stop ordering takeout? I love the fact
that you're here, Taylor, because you are the takeout queen.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
I'm a professional door dasher.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
I know. Literally, I asked Taylor one day offhand, so
what's in your fridge? She's like, I don't know, takeout boxes.
But you have the added bonus of just like when
you're hungry, you can just go on a date. Yeah.
I don't have that. That sucks. So the average American,
over 50%, say they are picking up to go or
door dashing because we're just exhausted. We're just wiped, period,

(13:40):
full stop. And I feel like here in the Bay—
Most of us have side hustles, second jobs, third jobs.
Like I'm just I'm hungry. The problem is it used
to be cheap and it's not.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
It's not.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Not anymore. The number one things we're picking up. Five
Guys Burgers. And I love Five Guys. This is not
a slam. But like if I go in there with
a family of three, I'm spending seventy five dollars.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Five Guys?

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Really?

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Where were we the other day? We were at Shake
Shack in Stanford Shopping Center. 80 bucks.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
No.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
With tip.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
That's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Now, granted, did I get a milkshake? Yes. Don't ask
me about my business.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
But isn't it fast food? I feel like it shouldn't
be that expensive.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
You would think. The other number one hitter, what are
people getting? This one I love. Nothing goes further than
Chinese food, in my opinion.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
Oh, agreed.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Panda is the other big hitter. Because Panda will feed
you for the week, almost. You know what I mean?
You get one of them family meals. This sounds like
a commercial. It's not. I just genuinely love Panda Express.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
And.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
They did this. It is conveniently located in Pacifica at
Lindemar on the way home to Half Moon Bay. Like
I can't drive by the Big Panda without going, yes,
give me that orange chicken. Right.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
No excuses.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
You know how much joy orange chicken brings at my house?

Speaker 3 (14:53):
I love orange chicken.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
And they do say most people who get takeout are
more optimistic and happier. And wouldn't it be something if
we could all have somebody else cook for us?

Speaker 3 (15:04):
So nice.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
The problem is takeout DoorDash is the number one route
to financial ruin. And P.S. Taylor, it's your generation that's
grabbing takeout the most. Gen Z, 58% of the people
grabbing fast casual or doing DoorDash.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Do you have a favorite?

Speaker 3 (15:19):
There's a place right next to where I live called Caliber.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
And I door dash from there quite frequently.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
What do they have? What kind of food?

Speaker 3 (15:26):
It's burgers. I actually had it last night now that
I think about it, but so good. Their sauce is delicious.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
This is in the sunset?

Speaker 3 (15:33):
It's actually in West Portal, but it's really good.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Worth the drive?

Speaker 6 (15:35):
Yes. Okay.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Cali, what?

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Caliber.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Okay. There you go. Shout out. How often do you
get takeout? What's your move? Where's your favorite place? Where
does your dollar stretch? I can't even get into the
fact that yes, we should all be cooking from home.
That's a whole different conversation.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
It's hard to even get me to the grocery store
in the first place. I just went for the first
time in six months.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Thinking about the food and buying the food and then
storing the food and cooking the food is hard.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
That part is so hard.

Speaker 5 (16:01):
That's like the worst part of adulting is having to
figure out three meals a day every day.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
If you have any thoughts on this, you can leave
us a talk back. It's the little red microphone. If
you're streaming the Star 101.3 on the free iHeartRadio app.
Time for good news, Bay Area. One of the things
that we like to hide on the show is just
the sheer amount of plastic there is on this earth
and how we can help to clean it up. I
love this, the International Coastal Cleanup. It's coming up November 19th,
but they just had the numbers come in from last year.

(16:28):
630,000 volunteers worldwide collected nearly 13.9 million pieces of trash.
This was one day. 15,000 miles of beaches, rivers, waterways,
1.3 million plastic bottles collected. 1.2 million cigarette butts, hundreds
of thousands of plastic bags, and it's more than just

(16:48):
a cleanup. So this was started like 40 years ago
by the Ocean Conservancy on the Texas Gulf Coast. But
since then, now it's like 166 countries, 20 million people.
I'm throwing a lot of numbers at you, but the
best part about this is it helps to shape policy.
So they realize, for example, that the plastic bag bans

(17:09):
like we have in certain counties here in California significantly
reduce the proportion of the bags found in the shoreline.
So let's keep doing what we're doing. Again, this year's
cleanup is going to be September 19th. The International Coastal Cleanup.
Doing good. That's perfect good news. Time to play the
Bay's favorite trivia game. It's called What You Know About That.
Brought to you by Cameron's Pub in Half Moon Bay.

(17:30):
26 beers on tap. They have RV hookups. They've got
a hotel right next door. Come through for the weekend.
Super easy trip. Whether you're in San Jose or in SF,
30 minutes. We'll see you there. Say good morning to
our contestants. Adam is in Lower Knob Hill honking at
somebody as we speak. Adam, what's going on this morning? Oh,
a little Waymo accident. Not accident, but yeah, just jams.

(17:53):
Waymo lost its mind right in front of you or what?

Speaker 6 (17:55):
He was.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
I went around.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Okay. I love that you call him Waymo.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
Me too.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
It's like a whale at SeaWorld.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
All right.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Let's go to Benicia. Say hi to Ryan. Good morning, Ryan.
Good morning, Marcus and Taylor. How are you doing? Good, bud.
What are you doing this morning? I just dropped the
kids off at school.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
Perfect.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Welcome to the show. It's five questions, 50 seconds. Yell
out pass if you don't know an answer. We'll come
back to it if there's time. Get as many right
as you can, okay? All right. So Ryan goes on
hold in Benicia. And we begin with Adam there in
Lower Knob Hill.

Speaker 6 (18:26):
Question number one.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
What is the state capital of California? Sacramento. The Cutie
brand of produce primarily focuses on what miniature cousin of
the orange? The navel orange. The orange.

Speaker 6 (18:43):
The Cutie.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
That's an orange. What type of orange? It's not an orange.
It's a cousin of the orange. It's called something else.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
Oh, a passion.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
What do you call animals that only eat meat? Carnivores.
What number is represented by the Roman numeral X? Ten.
Who is the all-time leading NBA scorer? LeBron James. And
let me go back to the one you passed on.
The Cutie brand of produce primarily focuses on what miniature

(19:17):
cousin of the orange?

Speaker 6 (19:22):
Oh, that's a tricky one.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
I think it's a cousin of the orange would be
a nectarine. All right, we'll go with nectarine. Hang on
the line for me. Adam goes on hold there in
Knob Hill, and we pick up Ryan in Benicia.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Question number one. What is the state capital of California?

Speaker 1 (19:40):
Sacramento.

Speaker 5 (19:41):
The Cutie brand of produce primarily focuses on what miniature
cousin of the orange?

Speaker 2 (19:52):
The tangerine.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
What do you call animals that only eat meat?

Speaker 7 (19:58):
Carnivore.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
What number is represented by the Roman numeral X?

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Ten.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
And who is the all-time leading NBA scorer?

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Over on James. Fine hands for everything. Hang on the
line for me. All right. Adam comes back from the
Lower Knob Hill. See how he did against Ryan and Benicia.
Question number one. What is the state capital of California?

Speaker 3 (20:21):
So glad that both of you knew that it's Sacramento.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Thank goodness. The Cutie brand of produce primarily focuses on
what miniature cousin of the orange?

Speaker 5 (20:29):
Adam said nectarine. Ryan said tangerine. The answer we were
looking for was either clementine or mandarin.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
What do you call animals that only eat meat?

Speaker 3 (20:38):
You both said carnivore, and that was correct.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
What number is represented by Roman numeral X?

Speaker 3 (20:43):
That is 10, and you guys knew that.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
And finally, who is the all-time leading NBA scorer?

Speaker 3 (20:48):
That was LeBron James. You guys both got that correct,
leading us to a 4-4 tie.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Going to the tiebreaker, y'all. Still alive. Here's how the
tiebreaker works. I'm going to ask you both the same
question at the same time. I want you to shout
out your name. If you know the answer to buzz in,
do not shout out the answer. First person to buzz
in gets a chance to answer. If you answer correctly,
you win instantly. Otherwise, your opponent can steal for the win.
Everybody clear?

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
What do bees make?

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Brian adam brian for the win honey my guy you.

Speaker 7 (21:19):
Got it awesome thank you thanks josh what are you talking.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
About play with us again weekday mornings at 8 0
5 a.m and add the what you know about that.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
Podcast there's a lot of good new music coming out
today a lot of established artists and then also some
newer ones uh you know about the alex warren album
that dropped today and then Sarah Bareilles is going to
be sitting down with our very own Jillian, who comes
on after this show at 10 o'clock. She's the best ever.
She's like the best girlfriend ever. 7 o'clock tonight. Make

(21:48):
sure you're tapped in. Download the free iHeartRadio app, StreamStar 1013.
Set that preset. 7 o'clock, they're going to chat for
like 20 minutes, play some stuff off the new album,
and discuss her seven-year hiatus, which was a lot of
highs and lows for Sarah, and we love her. She's
from the Bay, Mendo County. So pretty fantastic. Also, Train...
who has a new album out in about four days,

(22:10):
took over The Hate yesterday, and it was magical. This
is literally Pat live on stage. Thousands of people outside
of Mad Dog and the Fog. So good. Literally, people

(22:33):
on the roofs of the stores in The Hate. So
much fun. If you came out, you know what? Do
me a favor. Share your videos. Share your pictures. You
can do that on the Marcus in the Morning Instagram
or Star 101.3 FM up on Instagram. This is a
new song that they literally dedicated to the bar. That
was joined on stage by Matt Nathanson. Fantastic.

Speaker 7 (22:54):
It's the bar they got their start at.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Big shout out to Cyril, who owns the bar and
the crew. Says he listens every morning. I super appreciate that.
Getting out of here, we have a very special guest
coming through early. Jillian's in the house.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Woo-woo!

Speaker 6 (23:18):
Hi, you guys.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
Hey, I got to know about this thing you're doing
with Sara Bareilles tonight on the radio station. She's got
new music for the first time in seven years. She's
from Mendo County, so we already, by default, love her.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
She speaks so eloquently.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
In all the interviews that I've seen of her and,
you know, different... Different videos I've seen. She's always just
so open and just so wonderful.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
So it's been seven years. That's a lot of ground
to cover. What did you guys talk about?

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Yeah, so her album is out today. It's called Good Grief.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
And she lost two very special people in her life
these past few years. And she felt the need to
write and it turned into an album. And I got
the chance to listen to it. start to finish. And
it just covers so many different aspects of grief. But
then also there is this theme of hope throughout the

(24:10):
album as well.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
So Jillian's up next and she's talking to Sarah Bareilles
tonight on Star 101.3. She's got a documentary coming out.
She's got two shows at the Bill Graham Civic, the
16th and 17th of October. Is that right?

Speaker 3 (24:22):
Yes, that's right.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (24:23):
And the documentary is out September 2nd.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Can't wait. Seven o'clock tonight here on Star 101.3. Make
sure you're tapped in. Jillian, always good to talk to you.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
Nice to talk to you guys too.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
All right. She's up next. Have an awesome weekend. I'll
talk to you Monday.
