Speaker 1 (00:00):
A variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus in the
morning and studio with producer Taylor. Good morning, Good morning,
it's Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Thank god.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Do you think we could send a note to the
boss or a text this morning and commend him on
what the music sounds like and how exciting it is
and how without it sounding like us.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Kissing butt Right, he's popping off with the music this morning.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
You're right, yeah, and really, and we've been enjoying it
off the air. So here we are. The show is on.
We're very busy this morning. It's gonna be a big
weekend Niners game on Saturday tomorrow, five o'clock. I have
confirmed that my daughter's club volleyball tournament is ending at like.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Three okay, perfect, I'm okay.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
I may drive separately. I don't know what do you
got going on this weekend?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Just going out having a good time. It's my friend's birthday,
so we're gonna go out.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Translation, Taylor wants to give us no details until it
unfolds and then we hear all about it on Monday.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Just keep the radio on, we'll roll you into the
weekend Strong. Twenty twenty six might be the year you
decide to do healthy eating. These are anti inflammatory foods
that you should be eating right now. Inflammation not always
a bad thing. It helps to fight infections, et cetera,
et cetera, But when it hangs out in your body
too long, it's not good for you. Causes issues. At first,
I was like, this is going to be an old
man discussion. But then I'm reading these and I love
(01:25):
all of these foods, and I've got some pro tips.
Let's hear it, okay, Avocado's number one hitter. Yes, they're creamy,
they're dreamy, and they are packed with inflammation fighting power.
The only problem is they're kind of expensive and they're
very unforgiving. As soon as you open an avocado, it
goes from ripe to black in.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
About five seconds. It's crazy, but my favorite breakfast. Follow
me on this. Get some real sour dough bread. Like
everybody's got a friend that's making sour dough bread right now. Yes,
get a slice of real sour dough bread toast it off.
Cover that with avocado, ricotta, cheese, pickled red onions.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Very easy to make it home, a fried egg and
top it with whatever seasoning you want. I recommend Everything
Bagel seasoning from Trader Joe's.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Oh my goodness, you're making me hungry.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
My favorite breakfast ever that sounds so good. Also good
for fighting inflammation. Berries. The more color the better. Basically
they got vitamin C. It's a sweet snack and you
could take that drop it on your yogurt. Get your
gut health going super good for you. Got I sound
like I'm a hundred. Dark chocolate also good and delicious
to pair with raspberries.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
I am not a dark chocolate fan, not at all. Actually,
I don't really even like chocolate period.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Well this's just grown to a halt, didn't it. Moving on?
Fatty fish and I live in half Moon Bay, so
we have access to some of the best salmon out there,
and I have lost my taste for salmon. We had
it two nights ago. My family loves it. I may
ge a killer for ingredient Tarioki sauce, but I bought
myself a steak which is the anti anti inflammation salmon's
(02:56):
sardines anything with omega threes see also avocados. Also on
this list. Green tea. Green tea depresses me because typically
if I'm drinking green tea, which means I'm trying to
quit coffee and I just don't want that in my life.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Is there caffeine and greased Oh yes, oh gosh, scary.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Like that's the other reason I have to be careful.
If I start drinking green tea at three in the afternoon,
I'm gonna be up until next Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
The only green tea I know are green tea shots?
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (03:20):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (03:21):
The last thing that you have before a crazy night?
Speaker 1 (03:24):
That's I'll say, is that the best way to put that?
Leafy greens obviously good for you, thanks mom. Nuts you
have to be careful. Yes they are anti inflammatory, but
they are so calorically packed. The last worst thing I
can do is sit down late at night, turn on
a show and just grab a handful of trail mix
with a bunch of nuts in it. There's so much
fat in those things, but they're good for you. And finally, turmeric.
(03:47):
Have you ever worked with turmeric before? It is so
messy that sochia seeds are the confetti of the kitchen.
You'll find those everywhere, Like three days later you spill
them on the counter. Turmeric will stain your hands. It'll
stain whatever you're cutting board, it'll stain the counter. But
so good for anti inflammation.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
What consistency.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
It's typically either a powder or a root like ginger. Okay,
and it's delicious. Okay that rice I brought in two
eight days ago, that was yellow? Yeah turmeric?
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Oh okay, okay, got it?
Speaker 1 (04:17):
See you working for you? Yeah, anti inflammatory rice. Hopefully
that was helpful. All right? Right here Star one oh
one three producer Taylor is here. Good morning. So there's
a trend on Instagram right now where everybody wants to
flash back to twenty sixteen. And I guess what you're
supposed to do is dig up some pictures in your
phone of what you were doing in twenty sixteen because
it was an easier time, it was a simpler time.
(04:38):
I pulled up my pictures and then producer Taylor pulled
up her pictures, and we had vastly different experiences, if
I may say very so, if you go to Marcus
in the Morning on Instagram, please give it a follow.
I have a picture. My daughter was two. Here's a
family photo of us in the front yard of her
grand mayor's house in Washington State. First time she's experiencing snow.
Super cute. She's licking the snowman so cute. Here's another picture.
(05:01):
Her hair was down. She's two years old, and I'm
realizing I'm going to have trouble when she's in high
school because she's so adorable. So I've got family picks,
I've got meet and greet picks. Talking about producer Taylor's
experience in twenty sixteen.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Completely different. I was in rehab.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, and this is something not a lot of people
know about. Obviously, Taylor's brand new. So you were in treatment.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
I was.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Taylor came on the show last October. We've been talking
about the fact that Corey, my old partner, got laid
off in corporate cuts. I was spiraling you, guys. I
was done with the show. If I'm being honest, it sucked.
I was looking for any kind of help, and then
Taylor came in as just this angel. You're super help
I'm gonna talk about you like you're not here first. Okay,
she's super helpful. Great with video, You're learning how to
(05:44):
be on the air. I can't wait for everybody to
meet you in person. Thank you to everybody who has
given her grace all the listeners who have called in
and said that she's doing an awesome job, because she is.
But I want to talk about your experience in treatment.
You were fifteen years old, yes, Now, how did it
get to there?
Speaker 4 (06:01):
So?
Speaker 2 (06:02):
I was going to school at Loscotts High School and
my friends just decided one day they didn't want to
be my friend anymore. So I started hanging out with
just the wrong group of people. And to be honest,
I was ditching class every day. I was drinking alcohol,
smoking weed, and I had a lot of behavioral problems
at that time.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
And you got arrested twice.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
I did, and I got suspended from school multiple times
as well.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
So at some point your parents just decided this has
to stop. And it wasn't an intervention like you see
on TV.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
No, not at all.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
It wasn't your choice.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
They knew that if they were to let me know,
I would have run away. I would have done anything
that I could have to not go. Okay, given how
everything was at that time, looking back on it now,
I one hundred percent needed to go.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
But how did it go down.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
We have family living in Utah and they told me
that we were going to go visit them. They told
me we were going to go horseback riding, and so
we drove about three hours away to this random barn
in the middle of nowhere, and they basically said, it
was a really hard decision bringing you here, but we
had to do it. And they dropped me off.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
They literally just you on the front steps and they
drove away.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Pretty much. It was very, very hard.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
I would have been wrecked. I was.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
I mean, I mean as.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Your dad or your mom obviously, Oh he was too.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
I mean they said it was the longest and quietest
car ride home after that, because I mean, what do
you do.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
You said something really poigning to me when we first
met and you first told me that story that I
carry with me now as a dad, which is you said, Marcus,
I needed it. I don't blame my parents.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
No, of course not. I mean even now I look
back and it saved my life. If my parents had
not made that decision, I would not be here today.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Yeah, and you don't hold any resentment or any ill will.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
I think I was mad for a day, yeah, the
day they sent me, and then after that I just
wanted to talk to them. And when you get sent there,
you don't get to speak to your parents for the
first month of being there, yeah, which is extremely difficult,
And so by the time I got to have that
phone call with them, I just wanted to be with
them again. I missed them, and I couldn't hold resentment
because I knew exactly why.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
They sent me, and you and your mom are besties now.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Oh my gosh, I couldn't live without.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Herding For those of you just meeting my new producer,
Taylor for the first time, There's something else that you
said that frankly told me everything I needed to know
about you. You took responsibility. You literally said to me, look,
my parents were parents for the first time. They were
also trying to figure things out, and that it wasn't
a failure on them or a failure on you, but
(08:36):
something that the whole family needed to deal with and
be better about. We're talking about Taylor's experience going to
rehab when she.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Was fourteen, and I think one thing that I'm super
grateful for is my parents understood the assignment. They knew
that they could not place all the blame on me,
and in order for all of us to work, we
all needed to make a change. And not a lot
of kids in the position that I was in have
that kind of support from their parents.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Yeah, if you go follow Taylor on Instagram at Taylove
that's t A y l O ve e E two East,
you'll see how tight she is with her family.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Oh yeah, I post them all the time. I'm with
them all.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Every time, because you know, my daughter's eleven, and you know,
every teenager has stumbling blocks along the way. And as parents,
we blame ourselves. We feel the pressures of society to
be perfect and that our family should be perfect. Social
media dictates that we only post the perfect moments. But
these are the moments I think that that fair to
(09:35):
say that you grow from.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Yeah, if this hadn't happened, my family would not be
the unit that we are now. We needed to almost
kind of fall apart so that we could rebuild a
stronger foundation together.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
I love it. Well, welcome to the show. Thank you,
Thank you for all your help to be here. You
guys again, I'll say it. She's an absolute ray of sunshine.
If you meet Taylor on the street, you'll know, all right,
we gotta go to break. We'll be back in a
few minutes. It's Star one O one three yo.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Here's what's running in the Bay Area.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
And beyond on Harry Styles got us all yesterday. New
album coming out called Kiss All the Time Disco occasionally
dropping March sixth. The funniest moment at the office yesterday
because I got a text from the boss while I
was trying to use the men's room tailor, Oh bones buzzing.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
I'm like, what, I gotta stay in the know.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
And as I was returning to the studio, we're playing
one direction, So of course I have to go on
the air with this news immediately. I had barely even
read the text and I couldn't tell if it was
the album or a song or what the deal is.
But expect new music from Harry Styles brand new album
March six very exciting. You know who else who has
new music coming that was actually just confirmed and super
(10:44):
exciting is our boys in BTS which Where's My Where's
My song? Slipping? BTS has announced their fifth studio album,
Adi Dong We'll arrive March twentieth. That is, we looked
it up. It's a Korean world means what.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Now beautiful one?
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Yeah, this should be good. This is for group's first
solo project since their military service. You'll have fourteen tracks
on it and it ties in obviously with the World
Tour launching in April. They have dates at Stanford, you
know at Stanford, which is a great place to see
a show in May, two dates. You can win tickets
right now if you go to the Star one on
(11:22):
one three FM Instagram. Speaking of which, get there and
take part in our daily poll, brought to you by
a producer Taylor. What do we have today?
Speaker 2 (11:30):
It is National Hot and Spicy Food Day, so we
want to know what is your heat level? Mild or
you'll start crying? Medium because you can take some heat hot?
You want to sweat? Or do you fear nothing?
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Yeah? Impress me? Where am I at on this?
Speaker 4 (11:46):
So?
Speaker 1 (11:46):
I don't like it when spice takes over the flavor
of a dish.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Me neither.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
I got no problem getting spicy some but I don't
get spicy for the sake of getting spicy. You mean, yeah,
all right, So take part. You can do that right
now again Star one three. After you register yourself for
the BTS tickets, take part in the daily poll. Let's
go to sports really quick. The Warriors beat the Knicks
last night. Apparently it was a tight one because producer
(12:12):
Taylor was watching this game and White knuckled the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Oh my gosh. The first half was intense.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
So the final score one twenty six to one thirteen.
This was at Chase Center last night. Their next game,
as the homestand continues, is gonna be against the Charlotte Hornets.
So go Dubs. And of course, as you know the
big thing going on this weekend, why are we not
talking about it yet? I don't want to jinx it,
but I feel good about the game in Seattle this weekend.
(12:41):
We'll see either one of two things gonna happen. It's
gonna be tight and we're gonna win, or they're just
gonna blow us out. Yeah, that's how this is gonna go.
But let's go Niners. This is gonna be a five
o'clock kickoff tomorrow afternoon. I will be safely sequesters at
at my house. Go Niners. And that is what we
have this trending this hour. It is Mark, good morning,
and it is back second date update. Speaking plainly, what
(13:03):
we do here is try to get people together, all right.
So you go on a date, your date ghosts and
it's killing you. You're dying to know why. We're gonna
call them and find out with you on the phone
so we can all hear it together. Brandon, I'm assuming
that's why you're calling it either.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
Yeah, that's what I'm calling.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Hey, dude, let's try to figure this out from your DM.
Her name is Kira, and you guys are in San Jose,
which I like it when it's geographically desirable. Like I
was telling somebody today, like I was living in Salinas
and dating a girl in Clayton. It's like a thousand
miles away. It feels like this is way different. So
let's talk about sure, your date. What'd you guys do?
(13:40):
First of all, how did you meet? And then what'd
you do?
Speaker 4 (13:43):
I mean, it's twenty twenty five. I mean it's kind
of hard to meet people in person these days. I
don't have any luck trying to pick people up like
barre in public and stuff. So yeah, we've met online, okay,
every good buddy after for sure, like several years been online.
And yeah, I mean we went to the movies. Yeah,
like a pretty you know, standard good easy first date.
(14:05):
I picked the theater, I brought some snacks and you know,
we I feel like we had a really good time
and we were like laughing all the way through the previews,
and I feel like the spark was pretty clear. But
now I haven't heard from her. What's going on?
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Did anything weird happen in your estimation?
Speaker 4 (14:26):
I mean nothing that I can think of. I mean,
it was a pretty like standard like dates.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Because after like eight years of doing these calls, I've
realized that's the question you need to ask because it
makes it a lot shorter because sometimes people are like,
you know, actually, but no, I.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Mean, I don't think i'd be calling you guys.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
If I you're right, you're right, Well, i'll tell you
what you know. How we roll, We're gonna call Kira,
We'll have you on the line, we'll have you mute
it out. My ultimate goal is to get you a
second date.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
I would love that.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Let's at least get some answers, get some closures. Peace. Okay,
it's Marcus, good morning. We're doing second date update and
we have Brandon on the phone. He is standing by
to call Kira. It bummed me out when you said
it's impossible to meet people in real life, Brandon, and
then I realize, like baseline, everybody's got their earbuds in
all the time, like nobody actually wants to connect.
Speaker 4 (15:19):
Yeah, I mean, it's just it's hard. And also like
I don't know, I just I don't feel comfortable approaching
people and not being seen as like a creep. Sure, sure,
it's just it's just easier when it's online because you
know that that's what they're looking for to meet.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Makes sense? Well, this was real simple. We all went
to the movies. She is down in San Jose and
she's ghosted. So let's just call her and see what
the deal is and let's cross our fingers for a
second date. Go ahead and meet your phone.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
Here we go.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
Okay, Hello, Hi, I'm looking for Kira.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
How can I help you?
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Hi?
Speaker 1 (15:59):
This is Mark. I'm calling from Star one on one three.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
No way, Hey, I love your show.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
You're amazing. I already like you. I don't suppose you
listened to when we do second date update? Do you?
Speaker 7 (16:18):
Oh? Come on?
Speaker 5 (16:20):
Man?
Speaker 4 (16:20):
Oh yes I do.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Don't start cutting out on me.
Speaker 6 (16:23):
Now, no, no, yeah, I know that I know the drill.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Okay, so, been on any dates recently? Asking for a friend?
Speaker 6 (16:33):
Uh? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Is it okay? If we bring Brandon on and talk
about what's going Okay, great, Brandon, are you there?
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Hey, Hey, I'm kind of curious what's going on. I
thought we had a really nice date and I haven't
heard anything from you.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Brandon taking the lead. Respect Uh, Kira, he enjoyed your time,
So did you did you go?
Speaker 6 (17:02):
First of all, I mean, yeah, understandably.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Okay, can you fill up?
Speaker 6 (17:11):
I mean, Brandon's not a bad guy, but like, sorry,
that's you're not my type.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Why do you say that the okay?
Speaker 6 (17:18):
First of all, so we go to see a movie
and he narrates the entire trailer, every single trailer, out loud,
super loud, Like I'm pretty sure everyone around us also
got a taste of brand.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
In that night, okay.
Speaker 6 (17:31):
And I'm like, I'm just like that's fine. I'm like cool, whatever, And.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
I mean you were you were you were laughing, and.
Speaker 6 (17:39):
That's in the plot when he's like movies or my
favorite thing. I was being fun and I'm.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
Like, okay whatever.
Speaker 6 (17:44):
So it was distracting, not fun.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
But then he perceived before you continue, Sorry just one sec, Brandon,
I felt like you wanted to cut in there. Were
you were you doing some narration or what's the deal.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Yeah, During the preview. I mean, and nobody takes the
preview seriously. That's like the movie hasn't actually started yet,
and like everybody always like clowns on the previews, and
like people around me were laughing at the stuff that
I was saying. It seemed like you were laughing and joined,
I don't see what the big deal is.
Speaker 6 (18:13):
Yeah, I mean, if you'd stopped during the trailer, sure
you interested to talk the entire film?
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Well, okay, all right, And.
Speaker 6 (18:25):
I'm like I'm trying to watch the movie and I
got The Brandon Show instead.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Okay, why do I feel like there's something else? Or
was that it?
Speaker 6 (18:35):
Well? No, So then this guy reaches into my popcorn
because he'd finished his and as he's like putting it
in his mouth, goes he can help some popcorner.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
I'm like, bro, you gotta wait till you get married
to do that kind of stuff. Bro, And even then
it's touch and go.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
It seemed like you got it was pretty funny. I mean,
I'm glad you.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
Think you're funny anyway. So then but wait, there's more,
because like our homegirl has not forgotten, so like all
this is said it and I just want to go
home right. I didn't think i'd get a chance to
tell the story.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
This is awesome.
Speaker 6 (19:17):
So yeah, so I just want to go home. And
after after telling me like that's the awkward like arm
around my shoulder like anyway, so he goes, hey, do
you think next time we can netflix and chill?
Speaker 4 (19:29):
But for real, I was like, ooh, anyway.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
So I'm sorry, what was that noise again you made?
I don't know, Brandon, come on, I.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Was I was just joking around, you know. I was
just trying to lighten the mood and like you never
show you a good time and like I'm a funny
die right, Like it's just it was crazy.
Speaker 6 (19:53):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Well, so uh this is the part where I ask
if we could maybe have a do over a second
date and we got some awareness, now, Kira, I think I'll.
Speaker 6 (20:06):
Say a single Honey, I'm good, got it?
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Nah? Sure? Hang on? Self awareness is key, Reading the
room is key. Need I say more? Probably not? Second
date update It'll be back Monday after seven o'clock nine
o'clock and then you can binge listen over the weekend
if you want, go set a preset for Marcus in
the morning. Second Date update it's on the free iHeartRadio app.
You could download that right now. It's Friday, It's seven twenty.
(20:28):
Good morning, producer Taylor is here.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Good morning.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Are there any geeks listening? I ask, because all of
a sudden, it's cool to be a geek, which back
in high school you did not want to be called
a geek. I don't know how it was for you
in high school, but for me it was like no,
that was like a that was a kiss of death
on your social life, right, is what that was. But
now it's cool, And they say it's because we have
a lot more geeky characters on TV, we have a
(20:51):
lot more access to information, we can get into really
geeky hobbies. But it led me to wonder, like, what's
the difference between being a geek and being a nerd?
Because there is an inherent difference. So check this out.
I figured it out, drilled down. Tell me nerds want
to know about it. Geeks want to tell you about it. Okay,
that's the difference. So for example, mm, if you know
(21:16):
how a lightsaber works because you looked it up, you're
a nerd. If you own six lightsabers, you're a geek.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
I see, I see, thank.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
You now I was thinking about like the stuff that
I and you could be a nerd geek too. I
want to be very clear. So for me, I'm a
nerd geek. So I come from a very academic family.
My dad's got a PhD from Stanford, my mom's got
a master's degree from San Jose State. And when I
was a kid, we had a set of encyclopedias. I
would routinely take different volumes, different letters into the bathroom
(21:46):
and just read for the sake of reading, just for
being a nerd nerd, thank you. Now, I'm a geek
about food. For example, chicken. I will look up why
leftover chicken tastes different than it did the day that
you cooked it. It's because something happens to the proteins
in the refrigerator. That's nerd talk. I will also sit
(22:09):
and tell you about six different ways you can utilize
the costco five dollars rotisserie chicken, so much so your
eyes will bleed. Okay, that's geekiness. You're welcomes world. Tell me,
is there anything that you geek out about? Producer Tabe.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
I love celebrity gossip. Okay, anything that they're doing. I'm
in the know I have useless information just in my head.
I know celebrity birthdays, just everything.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
By the way, I've already been warned when the new
season of Love Island drops this summer, we will be
getting daily updates, daily up you know who?
Speaker 2 (22:39):
Yes, Oh my gosh, I love that show.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Give me like one celebrity that you geek out of out.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
I love Billie Eilish.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Okay, So when you go to the shows, does this
mean you put a bandana on and you put a
jersey on or what.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
No.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
I like to do my own thing, but best believe
I know everything that you need to know about Billie Eilish.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
So you won't put a jersey on.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
No, they don't flatter me that they just look too
good on her. She's the one that's.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
I'm telling you're telling me you don't like her fit. Okay.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
I thought you were right say I didn't like her fit.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
So think about something that you nerd out about, something
that you want to know about, and something that you
geek out about. For example, a lot of people geeking
out right now about the fact that BTS is not
only dropping new music, but they're going on tour and
we have tickets that are available right now on the
Star one one three FM Instagram. That's being geeky, that's true.
Look that up all right, so perfect talkback moment. Used
(23:33):
to talk back the little red microphone. If you're streaming
Star one on one three right now, give me something
that you geek out about, something that you need to
tell everybody about in great detail, to the point where
their eyes glaze over. It's time for good news. Good
news happens seven forty every morning. Just trying to get
a smile on your face. Could you set right for
(23:54):
the day. A good thought leads to an awesome day.
We know this. I want to recognize a member of
our community doing big thing. Coach Kevin Collins from Lincoln
High School in San Jose has been named your San
Francisco forty nine ers nominee for the John Excuse me,
the Don Shula Coach of the Year Award. Gets recognition
ahead from the team ahead of the Super Bowl. The
(24:16):
award spotlight's high school coaches who show strong leadership, character
and community impact, and every single NFL team nominates a
coach in their area. Congradulations to coach Collins. I have
a very special place in my heart. For Lincoln High
School as my wife bald there for a few years.
She's a graduate, played basketball and volleyball. So go Lions,
(24:36):
go coach Collins. If he ends up winning the whole thing,
the football program will get fifteen thousand dollars and he
gets ten grands. So it seems like an outstanding human.
If you know him personally, tell him. I said, what's up?
And congratulations and that's my good news for today. Thank
you to Lisa down there in San Jose who shared
the story. Are all rooten for you, Coach Marcus. In
(24:59):

that podcast is a preset on Oriheart app and never
miss an episode to our one on one three it's
Marcus in the morning. I want to thank my producer Taylor,
who is here, Good morning, Good morning, for sharing her truth. Earlier,
we were talking about that trend on Instagram where people
are taking it back to twenty sixteen because it was
a simpler time. It was a simple time for me.
(29:33):
You know, my daughter was too. We were doing a
lot of fun things. You were in rehab. I was
at fifteen, yes, And I wanted you to share the
story because I feel like a lot of people listening
might struggle with this, whether it's for you or for
a family member. And you got out of it and
you're stronger, and you've been a really spectacular part of
the show.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
You know.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
I know everybody was super sad, myself included when they
let Corey go with corporate cuts in October. But you
shared your story of being in treatment, and I feel
like you gave a lot of parents grace because you
don't blame your parents, not at all, and in fact,
it made you guys stronger as a family unit. And
we got a call holding that wanted to talk about it.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
My name is Kathy. I just wanted to tell Taylor
thank you because I had to do that with my
son when he was seventeen. We lost him a year
and a half ago.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
But I'm sorry I wondered if I.
Speaker 7 (30:24):
Did the right thing. Well, setting him away was the
hardest thing we ever had to do, but it really
helped me here her experience and to know that it
was the right thing to do, because you question like
should I have done that? Did that?
Speaker 6 (30:41):
Do it?
Speaker 7 (30:41):
But it made me realize, you know, the ownership was
on him. I just wanted to tell Taylor thank you
for being brave enough to get on the air and
talk about that, because it couldn't have been easy.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Hi, Kathy, it's Taylor. I just want to say thank
you first of all. And you know my parents say
the same thing, that it was the hardest thing that
they ever had to do. And just know that in
that moment, you did exactly what you should have done,
everything that you could have done. From my experience, I
think it only helped me. So I hope that that
(31:15):
resonates with you and just know you know, yeah, absolutely well.
Speaker 7 (31:20):
At the time it helped. But just know you have
to stay strong because it can come back. I know
it's hard work for you guys to climb out of that,
but I appreciate your hard work and sharing your story
because it does really help.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Yasie, thank you for calling in and sharing your truth
as well. You did the right thing.
Speaker 7 (31:38):
Okay, I appreciate it.
