Speaker 1 (00:00):
Star one on one three. It's Marcus in the Morning,
read after six o'clock. Good morning, how's it going. I'm
here solo because Taylor forgot her computer and it just
got into work and had to turn around and go home.
Who can relate? Who's been there? Worst feeling ever? Where's
my laptop? I'll be careful when the road out there
this morning. It's a little bit. It's a little murky,
a little soupy, dare I say moist. A lot of
(00:24):
precipitation in the air, not quite rain, but just it
might get you. The fog might get you, so be
careful with that. It's Marcus in the Morning. Producer Taylor
is here, Good morning. We want to follow up on
something we were talking about yesterday because I forgot to
make a massive point. I want to find out if
it's the same thing at your house. We were talking
about cleaning for the cleaning people and how funny that
sounds because everybody does it, and so we literally were
(00:47):
reading off things you're cleaning people wish you would do
before they got to your house, and actually cleaning was
not one of them, but straightening up decluttering was one
of them. Yeah, and a couple of things that I
forgot about. One of the things came up was securing
your valuables, your irreplaceable things. We screwed that up so
badly one time. So my wife and I have a
(01:08):
bottle of what's called skull vodka. And it's exactly what
you think it is. It's a bottle of vodka. The
bottle shaped like a skull, and it's Dan Ackroyd, who
was a famous comedian from like the eighties. He was
in Ghostbusters. It's his line of vodka. We had an
autographed bottle of Skull vodka. Well, the cleaners came to
town and we didn't put it away, sat on the table.
(01:29):
The lady thought his signature was actually dirt. No, she
scrubbed off the autograph. Oh my hand of God, true story.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Oh my gosh, I'd be heartbroken.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
I mean the bottle was clean as a whistle. But yeah,
what costs? What cost? So the other thing that came
up was whether or not it was okay for me
to leave laundry for the cleaning people to fold. We
got a couple of talkbacks on it. Marcus, it's reading
the creek.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
No, you are not allowed to have them do your
laundry or your ironing.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
The're house cleaners, not your maid. I mean it's a
good point, okay, read I hear you.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
To one more so, this is about the cleaning people.
So my husband, I refuse to put my husband's clothes away.
I will wash them if you put them in the
laundry rotation, but I will not put them away. But
he doesn't like doing it either. We do have house
cleaners come and it took me a really long time
to ask them. But I had to specifically ask them,
and we pay extra for them to fold and put
(02:28):
his clothes away. It seems like it was pretty standard.
They had price for it, but not for free.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Okay, so I should be paying extra basically, is what
she's saying. The other thing that came up was one
of our coworkers was saying when the house with cleaners
would come to his house, he was not allowed to cook.
And it's the same thing at my house when the
house cleaners come. Literally, my wife wants to have like
one day, one day of a clean house. So every
time the house cleaners come, I have to get takeout
(02:55):
or we have to go out, so it cost me.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Double yep, I don't I agree with this, so.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Just sell mamaking. Anybody else like this anyway, leave a
talk back if you don't mind. It's the little red
microphone on the iHeartRadio app. If you're streaming Star one
oh one three right now, if you're looking for a
little recharge, and I know it's the end of summer, however,
suck this away for later. The best US vacation destinations
to relax in destress number one, number two on the list.
I've never heard of, never been to, but apparently they're adorable.
(03:24):
Mount Desert Island, Maine, which sounds very remote. Frankly, Yeah,
I think you can unplug. And then Galena, Illinois, which
apparently is just chock full of antique shops and cute
little coffee shops and whatever. That's great.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I can't say I've heard of those either.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
No, you know what is on this list? Hawaii twice,
three times, the Island of Hawaii, Oahu, Hawaii, and Maui,
Hawaii Maui all in the top ten.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Maui's amazing.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
I adore Maui.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
That's my favorite.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
How long it takes me to become Hawaiian in my mind,
not to anybody else. We land, we rent the minivan.
It's always a minivan. And then by the time you
are rolling around the island at thirty five miles an hour,
playing the island music, all of a sudden, I'm speaking
pigeon and my wife is like, what are you doing?
Speaker 5 (04:08):
No, I'm already like in vacation mode before we get there.
The minute that we get to the airport, I'm done.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
At what point do the shoes come off? Because that's
also now I.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
Wear flip flops everywhere all the time, So that's just
like my constant vibe, like I'm ready to go to
Maui any given time.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Within two hours, I've left the hotel because the girls
are probably at the pool, and I guaranteed I'm in
the parking lot barefoot, eating a lunch plate with some
Cawby ribs over rice, guaranteed.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
See, And that's vibes. Yeah, yeah, that's appropriate for the setting.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
This all just became a discussion about Hawaii. Every time
I go, I don't want to come back. I got
to figure out what my side hustle is to not
come back.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
I literally feel like a new person every time I
go there. If you're listening right now, you've never been
to Hawaii. Just go invest Honestly, it is a experience
of a lifetime.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
And it's in the US, which is insane.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
The other place on this list that I have been
to that and I do greed. Number five Sedona, Arizona.
Never been The desert bro is different, especially if you
grew up on the West coast, like on the water,
and the vibes of the desert are amazing.
Speaker 5 (05:10):
I have been to Arizona once for a says a concert,
but apart from that, I've never really been to like
deserts before.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Like that when you get to Sedona, like, we have
hippies here, but their hippies are so out they look
make our hippies look like park rangers. Like, honestly, you
want to get some crystals, get some vibes, go to Sedona. Wow,
guaranteed I have one.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
Utah really and I'm saying, like Park City or Salt Lake,
Utah is so beautiful and I know, like me and
Utah like should Loki have beef because you know, I
that is where rehab was for right, But my family's
from there and I've been going there my whole life
and it's so gorgeous.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
They have the best snow if you like to ski,
and the.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
Best hiking if that's like your vibe during the summer.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
It's gorgeous up there.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Okay, put a vote in for Utah, Utah Best destinations
in the US for a mental reset. There you go. Now,
here's what's running in the area and beyond. It's brought
to you by Cash Creek Casino Resort. Experienced the biggest
names and the very best in live entertainment at Cash
Creek Casino Resort. Several things happening. Let's see, Lady Gaga
has won her Mayhem lawsuit. I don't know if we
(06:22):
do we remember what that was all about. So it
was a trademark lawsuit over the name and logo for
her album Mayhem. A surfboard company claimed that Gaga's branding
would confuse customers with its Mayhem branded boards. It's been
dismissed by a judge insufficient evidence and that album titles
(06:43):
are protected forms of.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Expression, isn't it. Yeah, it's like an art thing.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Yes, yeah. K Pop Demon Hunters is getting the Sesame
street treatment, a kid friendly parody of Golden from K
Pop Demon Hunters talk about it now. They have a
song about teamwork friendship, sportsmanship, all the things that make
Sesame Street Sesame streety Oh, that's so cute. I love that,
which I love. It's going to be on the new
(07:08):
Sesame Street Parody Party album.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Okay, cute vibes.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
It is officially Halloween season now, apparently, Yes, I love this.
Reese's many pumpkins.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
Okay, those are iconic though, they're like they're like the eggs,
don't see me for Easter.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Okay, so they're going to be around for a limited time.
Bite sized pumpkin shaped Reesis with the classic peanut, butter
and chocolate combo that frankly was probably an accident.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
Well, also there's tea on this a little bit because
on the packaging they have the face of the pumpkin,
like a cute little smiley face, and on the pumpkin
they don't have it. So there was like a misleading
like people thought that they were going to see a
cute face in the face and people are like upset
about it.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Are they going to eat them anyway?
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Well?
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Of course probably?
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Right.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
All right, let's finish strong with producer Taylor's daily pol
What do you have today?
Speaker 5 (07:58):
It is World Radio Day today, so we're asking what
do you love about Star one on one point three?
Is it the music, second date update, the DJs, or
the trivia games.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
This isn't self indulgent at all.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
No, not at all.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
You know what, yesterday was my thirteenth anniversary on this
radio station.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Amazing.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
That's awesome, son, It's been so fun.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
That's literally half my life.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
That's exactly what I wanted you to say. How did
you know? All right? So that's what's trending. It's a
Star one one three, It's Marcus in the morning. Y'all
know what time it is. We're back with second Date
update everybody. So I had a Sam, what's up? Sam?
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Man? I want to talk about your date, and mean,
everybody knows how this goes. So I understand that she's ghosted.
We're gonna call her and try to figure some things out,
maybe get you a second date. But tell us about Erica.
What did you guys do on your date?
Speaker 3 (08:49):
I greatly appreciate your efforts. Yes, Erica and I met
for drinks in San Jose after meeting on the apps.
I'm very surprised she vanished. She is extremely attractive, she's
very confident, she's funny, she's direct. I thought we had
a good rapport.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Okay, what'd you guys talk about? What was your conversation?
Speaker 3 (09:09):
We talked about dating expectations, we talked about pet Peeves,
and I honestly thought that it was very refreshing that
we could talk openly about such things. And I feel like, again,
I'm just confused and wondering what happened.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Okay, we're gonna call Erica and try to figure out
why she ghosted on you. I'd love to get you
a second date, but let's see what she thought of
your first day.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Hello.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Hello, is this Erica Erica. My name is Marcus. I.
I do the morning show on Star one on one three.
Good morning. Hi, Hey, do you listen to the show?
Speaker 6 (09:53):
I don't am I going to be in trouble, No, not.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
At all, in fact, perfect. So we do a segment
on the show that it's our most popular segment because
it's kind of a love segment. It's called second Date Update.
And I got sent your email from a gentleman that
took you out on a first date and he's feeling
like maybe you're ghosting him, and I'm just here to
(10:18):
try to figure out if he did something dumb or
if you've just been busy, or do you have a
second to talk about your date? The guy's name is
is Sam?
Speaker 6 (10:30):
Yeah yeah, sure, sure, can we talk about it on
the air?
Speaker 7 (10:35):
Yeah, no problem.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Okay, So that aided you ghost and b did something
go sideways? I?
Speaker 6 (10:45):
Yeah, I think I guess you could say that. I
just I mean, Sam is really good looking, and I
was just so relieved when he came into the bar
that not only was he good looking, but that he
met the pictures that I saw, which was a huge relief.
And uh so we got drinks and he said he
(11:08):
likes his whiskey meat, and so of course I made
the osier joke about whether or not he he only
drinks black coffee and goes to bed at three am.
But then he just kind of gave me this blank
stare and said, no, I'm not that guy. And so
then he went on to tell me that he doesn't
(11:29):
even believe in weekends and actually keeps the same schedule
seven days a week. And so I'm that just kind
of threw me for a loop, because what kind of
sociopath doesn't sleep in on the weekends?
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Like he doesn't sleep So first of all, your joke
doesn't land obviously, No, okay, it low key triggered him.
Speaker 6 (11:47):
Second of all, uh huh and then yeah, and now
he doesn't he doesn't believe in weekends. But I'm still
not done. I'm still not Oh god, Okay.
Speaker 7 (11:56):
He told me that he doesn't own a cow couch
because sitting or lounging around like encourages stagnation, I think,
is what he says, And that he only has standing furniture,
so like a stand up desk, a high top dining table,
leaning rail for when he wants to stand up right.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
It was.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Yeah, like he just needs like a ballet situation.
Speaker 6 (12:24):
I don't I don't know. I don't think I ever
want to see it. And I just am so confused
how I was such a good looking guy could be
so strange.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Makes me wonder what he's got in the basement. No elaboration,
Oh no, okay. Interesting. Well, the other half of this
is that I've got actually Sam listening right now because
he we're just trying to figure this out. Sorry, Okay, Sam,
are you there?
Speaker 3 (12:54):
I am here? Yes?
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Do you really not have a couch?
Speaker 3 (12:58):
No? No, I not a couch as I, as I
said it heard, encourages stagnation, and I'm I'm a pretty
disciplined person and I just I'd like to keep things
efficient and balanced, and so yeah, I think that a
couch is kind of meaningless.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
And yeah, to your point, you're obviously a very disciplined guy.
So just to reiterate, like, you get up at the
same time every single day, no matter what, full stop. Yes,
for balance, for balance, yes, okay.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Yeah, studies have shown that like going to sleep and
maintaining the same strict sleeping patterns promotes so well being.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Erica, what are your thoughts on bed rotting?
Speaker 6 (13:42):
I love it.
Speaker 7 (13:44):
I can't think of a better way I want to
spend my Saturday.
Speaker 6 (13:47):
And I just feel bad that this guy has never
experienced that.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Literally laying in bed doing nothing or scrolling on your
phone or reading a book or.
Speaker 6 (13:54):
The joys of bed rotting is so good after a
long week.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Yeah, I'm I'm usually not stymied like this, but I
absolutely floored because honestly, that sounds really lame and I
I had no idea you were so lazy. Eric. Wow, dude,
I'm kind of thinking this whole decision.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
So no, that's that's that's fine. I had already decided
to stop dating this second.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
The first day was.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Over, So all right, you two hang on, please hang on? Please? Yeah,
this sick? But what do we call that? A personality conflict? Sure? Second,
and up, dude, it's Marcus in the warning producer. Taylor
is here.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
Hello.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
What constitutes micro cheating? I bring this up because it
is Taylor's favorite subject. We discussed this off the air
ad nauseum. They just released a survey of the top
ten acts that count as cheating. Now are these micro cheats? Taylor?
What is micro cheating?
Speaker 5 (14:47):
First of all, micro cheating is like little things that
your partner does that's just like sketchy, you know, or
just like not vibes, like they're giving subtle hints towards
maybe somebody else, or you know, the idea of leaving
the relationship or something.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
There's no physical contact. You didn't get drunken make out
at a bar.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
No, it's not quite like rando.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
But these are just little things. So what I'd like
to do is I'd like to read these off and
you tell me the severity of these micro cheats from
like zero to ten, like forgivable to your stuff is
currently on fire on the front yard.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
See, but if your stuff is on fire in the
front yard, you like still got a chance?
Speaker 1 (15:23):
No, I forgot who I was talking to. Taylor's a fixer,
I forgot. All Right, here we go, you ready? Yes?
Number one, having an ongoing flirtatious text conversation with someone.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Absolutely not micro cheating.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
That's like no, zero to ten. What's the severity I'm
breaking up with the other? Are you really yes? Over that?
Speaker 2 (15:43):
If you're flirting by text? I mean, might as well
go hang out with or bye?
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Okay? Uh? Talking with one person late into the night
while hiding it from your partner.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
See the hiding it from your partners where I have
an issue? Like, why are you hiding it from me?
Speaker 1 (15:55):
What if I take that part out? What if I'm just.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
If you're I mean if you have some like you know,
friends that are girls and you're talking texting them late,
like I don't have a problem with that?
Speaker 1 (16:03):
And see also number one, are we flirting?
Speaker 5 (16:06):
See that's where I have a problem, And then you
can I'm breaking up with you.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
Bye.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Maintaining a dating app profile quote just to look or
for validation?
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Absolutely no, I'm breaking you know it has.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
You can look on that face in your face like
you actually do that.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Okay, I don't do that, but I've seen it happen.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Keeping someone in your phone under a fake name.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Cheating aluly, Yeah, that's cheating.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Breaking up, We're still breaking up. Okay again, we're going
over the top ten acts that count as cheating according
to this new survey. Deleting messages so your partner won't see.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Them cheating, breaking.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Up, keeping in touch with an x without telling your partner.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
What if I tell you?
Speaker 5 (16:50):
See? But no, no, you can't be in contact with exes.
I'm sorry. That crosses a boundary for.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Me at all.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
At all. I don't care. Why Why do you need
to be friends with that person?
Speaker 1 (17:02):
I'm at least Facebook friends with basically every one of
my exes.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
That's crazy. I don't think I have any of my
exes on any social media platforms.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Okay, Secretly meeting someone one on one.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
No, if you're not telling me, that's the problem.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
If you're keeping information from me intentionally, that is a problem.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
I see a theme here. Having a secret friendship with
your partner that they don't excuse me, having a secret
friendship your partner doesn't know about same thing.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Yeah, I can know.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Okay, let me ask you this one. This is interesting
to me. Fantasy messaging and discussing things like and I quote,
what if we were single with someone?
Speaker 2 (17:40):
No, find out, I'll show you what single looks like.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Bye, last one. Sending heart emojis, compliments or inside jokes
to someone.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
That's gray. That's grey for me, because.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
How many shades of gray love?
Speaker 2 (17:59):
No, I don't know, it depends. That's very situational.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Okay, micro cheating. I'm learning something new every single days.
Time for good news, kind of loving the good news
story this morning, So a woman in California now Southern
California who was frustrated with her upstairs neighbor because her
upstairs and neighbor was noisy. All she heard was what
she termed bowling ball sounds like she was literally bowling
(18:24):
upstairs in her living room. I can understand how frustrating
that would be. But then Heidi met Carol, Carol, the
lady that lives upstairs, who is eighty years old, and
found out that she has Parkinson's and that the sounds
she was hearing were actually Carol's walker. The reason or
the way she found out was Carol was emptying her garbage.
She could see her really struggling. Obviously, Parkinson's makes you shake,
(18:48):
you know, in the latter stages. And Carol was literally like,
I'm sorry if I'm making too much noise for you.
And Heidi said, don't even worry about In fact, let
me help you out. So she started helping her with cooking, cleaning,
medical benefits, legal matters. And then she started a fundraiser
online that's raised more than fifty five thousand dollars for Carol.
(19:11):
It's up sixty now, like I'm looking at it right now,
and it literally says, help Carol live with dignity at
eighty five. And so it's turned into like this grandmother
granddaughter relationship. All of her posts have gone viral, millions
of views, They're getting letters of support from around the world,
and now they're basically besties. And and Heidi said this,
(19:33):
this relationship has given her a new sense of purpose. So,
you know what, good on you for taking care of
a senior citizen, because they deserve that kind of respect
and dignity. For sure. It's Marcus in the morning. You
decided to play the bass favorite trivia game It's called
What You Know About That? Brought to you by Cameron's
Pub and hapm Bay. The perfect weekend getaway come through.
It's thirty minutes from the city, thirty minutes from Santos.
(19:55):
Maybe I'll see you then. It's gonna San Ramona's kind
of Natalie. Good morning Natalie, Good morning, Marcus, and Hey,
what are you doing this morning?
Speaker 6 (20:01):
I am playing with my one year old adorable.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Her name is Kaya? Is Kaya any good at trivia?
Do I have to tell her that it's mom's only
Oh gosh, I hope so multitask in the days ago
and Le's good as San Jose and as I had
a Rejesh, Good morning with Jesh. Good morning, Marcus and Taylor.
Good morning. What do you got going on this morning?
Speaker 6 (20:18):
I just dropped off my daughters at elementary middle first
day of school today.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Love it. Let's say had them really quick? What are
their names?
Speaker 3 (20:26):
James?
Speaker 2 (20:26):
Are Trishka and Redika?
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Perfect? Well, welcome. It's five trivia questions, fifty seconds to
answer them all. Each person's going to be asked separately
with their opponent on hold yell out pass. If you
don't know an answer, we'll come back to the question,
if there's time, get as many right as you can. Okay,
So Rejesh goes on hold in San Jose. We're gonna
start with Natalie and San Ramon, all right? Question number one,
which sport involves standing on a board to ride the
(20:50):
ocean waves? First board?
Speaker 8 (20:54):
Second question, what is the largest planet in our solar system?
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Marshmallows, chocolate and gram crackers are common ingredients? And what
popular treat.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
Sport?
Speaker 1 (21:12):
El Capitan and Half Dome are attractions in what national park? Finally,
how many reindeer does Santa Claus have.
Speaker 6 (21:27):
Character?
Speaker 1 (21:30):
The baby knows she's trying to give you the answer.
Very good, great job, hang on the line. All right.
Natalie had an answer for everything there in San Ramon.
She goes on hold and we pick up her gestion
in San Jose. All right, so are you ready to go?
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Okay, where we go?
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Question number one, which sport involves standing on a board
to ride ocean waves.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Surfing?
Speaker 5 (21:54):
What is the largest planet in our solar system? Marshmallows,
chocolate and gram crackers are common ingredients?
Speaker 2 (22:04):
And what popular treat.
