Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now back to the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, presented
by Frost Brud Coors, Luck Cold Is the Rookies and
brought to you by Dino's Pelvin. Written on Sports Radio
ninety three point three kjr FM, Britney.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Thirtieth pick in the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, the
New York Jets select Omar Cooper, junior roder Fever Indiana.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
All right, so Omar Cooper the receiver, go for me.
Indiana goes to the Jets. At thirty the Titans are
now on the clock. At thirty one, it was supposed
to be the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are traded again.
They're trading picks thirty one overall, sixty nine overall, and
one sixty five overall to the Titans. The Titans will
give Buffalo the thirty fifth pick overall, the sixty sixth
pick overall, and the one hundred first pick overall. So

(00:48):
the Bills trade down and they'll get the third pick
in the second round. So the Titans are on the clock,
they're about ready to make their pick. When they get
to that. Then we're going to keep a keen eye
on everything we can to see what happens with C.
But the pick is in for the Tennessee Titans, and
then the Seahawks will be on the clock or will
they be on and.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
If it started at twenty six, like if we we
finally summarize all of this, the movement of the teams,
the multiple movements of many teams.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
All right, waiting for we got a lot of cheering
going on. So let's uh listen, people here and Seattle
want to see what's going on. Stop with the cheering.
Let's just get the pick mates, we can. We can
see the Seahawks are officially by the way on the clock,
and we'll see what happens here. Roger Goodell about ready
to give us the pick for the Tennessee Titans. This
is the second to last pick in the first round,

(01:37):
pick number thirty one overall. Coming up here in just
a second and waiting and wait again the made for TV.
It's seven fift It's almost eleven o'clock on the East coast.
Let's just get this thing going. I mean, you know what,
I'm just gonna tell you what it is. I don't
even doesn't matter. The Titans are trading up. They got
Auburn defensive end Keldric Faulk. Yep. Okay, makes sense.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
It's a deep defense then class. Yeah, so I think
thirty one. That guy Fulk in other drafts, you know,
might have been you know, late teens.

Speaker 5 (02:09):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
All right, So in a draft that doesn't have this
kind of depth.

Speaker 6 (02:15):
All right.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
So the Seahawks are officially on the clock and we're
waiting to see what happens with that pick. Do you
take the running back? Do you take a cornerback? Rob
give me two guys right now.

Speaker 7 (02:28):
So we talked about Jeneria Price a lot. Colton Hood
and Tennessee Corner to me would be the other one.
I'd really strong took a visit to Enton. He did,
and he's a good player. You know the problem I
have with colton Hood, this is the only problem I
have a colton Hood. He bounced around a little bit.
I mean he was, you know, originally an Auburn. Then
he went to Colorado for a year and then he
went to Tennessee. Yeah, if you dig deeper, then the

(02:51):
reason why I went to Auburn is because his brother,
his father, his uncle all played to Auburn. He transferred
to Colorado because his brother wanted to play there, and
of course, you know, they got a certain head coach
there knows a little bit about playing corner, and then
he transferred to Tennessee, you know, just because again it
was what an opportunity it was. He thought they thought
that he was gonna be playing alongside Jermal McCoy, is

(03:13):
gonna give Tennessee a real chance national championship. The only
year that he was a starter, however, was this past season.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
But he was a star.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Yeah, Brandon Sees would be another.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
You know, he was a guy that had a visit.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Avion Toro and I, by the way, we're focused on corner.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Every every indication, by the way, is that Seattle's gonna
use this pick because they're on the clock. And in
addition to that, the Seahawks pr official PR account just
did tweet out to say we're on the clock. That
normally doesn't happen if they're making a move there. As
John Schneider pointed out to us in the media on Monday,
they're about two minutes ahead of everything that we see,
so we're kind of waiting to see what happens here.

(03:54):
So the Seahawks, I here's the thing, I think there
would be disappointment in that room down the hall if
they didn't move back, and I think if if they
don't move back, guys, probably a big reason is all
the movement in the five picks ahead of them, Like
all that movement, a lot of Yeah, the forty nine
are able to trade all the way out of the
first round. The Bills made all kinds of moves. All
those teams doing that. So Seahawks again are on the clock.

(04:16):
The clock is kicking, so we'll kind of see what happens.
Zion Young.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
You know, Mike, there's the other loves defensive ends who
can hold the edge this guy.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Uh In terms of the Seahawks have made a pick.
We don't know who it is yet, but they have
made a pick. They have made a pick. So they
are gonna we're gonna get We're gonnaet a Seahawk announcement here.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Yeah, So I mean, there's it could be. I would
say this, it's gonna be one of four positions that's
not really going you know, get offense. You got running
back and offensive guard on the defense edge or a corner. Okay,
I think if it's anything other than that, then then
you know it would it would surprise me. But okay,

(04:57):
uh in john Wick, trust.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Right, Yeah, I mean listen again, I'll just go back. Well,
I'm sure they won't say this publicly. Yeah, but when
he comes out money, he says, we want to move back. Yeah, yeah,
there's no doubt. Okay, So can I go ahead and
spoil it? Oh?

Speaker 5 (05:14):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Okay, can you tell me? Yeah? Gives you guys a
chance to react to. We'll get the official pick. And
here the commissioner jendarium price. According to a multiple multiple sources,
Jaenarium price is going to be a Seattle seahawk. Okay.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Interesting, Well it's a half back from Notre Dame. And
here's a guy. Now, he lost some close to ten
pounds prior to the combine, and he thought they was
in the two ten range. But five eleven two oh
three has six yards per carry, eleven touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
So he did it. He did a hell of the job.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
I think that might have been more than love getting
in the end zone. Know you know his in watching
the tape with him, I think he has outstanding lateral
ability vision. I don't think he has the elite top
end to hit the home run, but there's so I
think he's quicker than he is fast. Uh, there's a

(06:09):
physicality that's lacking with him. But but in terms of
a natural athletic uh runner with instincts that that's your guy.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
While we wait for the commissioner to make the pick officially, uh,
and we'll hear in a second again, Jadarium Price is
going to be a Seattle seahawk according to numerous reports.
Right now with a thirty second pick. Hugh you first,
Rob you second, and we'll wait for the commissioner and
I'll tell you when I got to cut you off.
Jaederium Price steps into that running back room? Is he
not running back number one? And I'm assuming Jack Charboney

(06:39):
is healthy, He's not gonna be healthy to start. I
get that he's number one, he's number one, Yeah, yeah,
I put.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Him number one for first play, first play, a mini
cap number one, your first round draft pick. You've you
you don't. We don't need you to like show your
teammates that you earned it. You earned it because your
first round draft pick you just get. Let him assimilate
with that aside. Is he the best running back in
that room?

Speaker 3 (06:59):
He's the best running back the room.

Speaker 7 (07:00):
Rob Yep one hundred percent agree uh, you know, I'm
talking about generan price a lot. I just think, look,
I'm going to use the comparison here that is, you know,
probably too bold, But to me, I see awful lot
Terrell Davis and.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
I see it.

Speaker 7 (07:16):
I see it back that that just has vision. I
think he has instincts. We talked about this, see and
you know we often talk about John Scheider as somebody
who zigs and everyboails SAgs, and I see a back
that anticipates where the blockering is going to be, where
the defense is going to be, and he makes his
sharp cuts.

Speaker 8 (07:36):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (07:37):
He he ran well four four nine in the forty
yard dash of the combine, a good time. Not an
elite time, certainly, not the four to three to two that
can't walker the third had. But I just see a
guy who plays fast. And obviously that's the point we
talked about before with the hands out of the backfield.
I just think that that is an untapped resource there

(07:57):
that you know, just was a little bit hidden because
he was playing behind Jeremiah Love. And you know that's
the thing you made the point about Zach Charboney, you know,
and whether it be Zach Scharboney, whether it be George
Halani or whoever.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
The second we'll get to him a second. We want
to make sure we get this on the air to
make it official and put the bow on it people.
Roger Goodell making his way up as the Seahawks pick
will be announced number thirty two overall. But we do
know is Jajerium Price Jenerian Price are running back out
of Notre Dame will come to Seattle. And as as
you and Rob mentioned steps in as the number one
running back for Seattle to replace Ken Walker for the

(08:31):
Super Bowl champions, Let's go to the commissioner, Roger Goodell
heading up to the podium for the last pick of
the first round, Day one of the twenty twenty six
NFL Draft for the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

Speaker 9 (08:41):
So what adds the final pick a round one of
this year's.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Draft if we pluyed round one of the twenty twenty
six NFL Draft. We're proud to continue recognizing our long
standing partnership with Make a Wish This World Wish come on.
I'm thrilled to be joined by Dylan, a huge fan

(09:06):
of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, who bravely battled
a brain tumor and is now a two time cancer survivor.

Speaker 9 (09:24):
This is a witch.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Come true for Dylan and a chance to take part
in one of the most exciting moments in our league.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
Dylan, when you're ready, stage is yours?

Speaker 4 (09:38):
What's going on? That's hard?

Speaker 10 (09:43):
Yeah, I'm so excited to be here to represent the twelves.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Oh and.

Speaker 10 (10:04):
And with that, with the thirty second dick in the
twenty twenty sixth NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select Jenarian
Price Notre Dame running back.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Uh, there you go. It's a Jendarium price. The running
back got a Notre Dame. Well done, dil you know what,
well done? Dylan make a wish two time cancer survivor.
Rolling into Pittsburgh Steel City. Did you guys know Jerome
Betic's from Detroit, by the way, even though he made
a pick for the Steelers to day, rolling in there,
rolling in there and making the pick the Jadarium price

(10:37):
of the Seattle Seahawks. And I'm gonna produce on the air, Jackson,
when you have a profile ready, we can get to
that for Jendarium price. In the meantime, again, let's reiterate now,
Seattle loses ken Walker, they gain Jadarian price. You fire away.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Well, one of the things Seattle with the outside zone scheme,
he ran that by about a one and a half
to one ratio zone scheme over a gap scheme, and
particularly the wide zone. So I think that he they
like his fuel for what stretching that you mentioned Terrell Davis,
the architect of or the you know the kind of

(11:12):
ground zero for the outside zone and and you know,
having been there, what you tell a running back is
you're going to make your decision on the on the
read the the end block, if it's hooked, or whether
or not you can't hook him. Make your decision by
your third step. You make your cut by your fist step.

(11:33):
Take one cut. This is something that he did a
lot of. When you look at him in college, he
tore Achilles heel as a freshman, so he's coming back
off of that. He has you know, there's a lot
of there's a lot of fresh legs, and he only
had one hundred and thirteen carries in twenty twenty five.

(11:54):
He's got the patients, as we said, but he has
the explosion now. Well, when you look at his his measurables,
he at at two hundred and three pounds. He is
what's the percentile? They all get that, but it's it's
gonna be very low. His forty times four four nine

(12:16):
is a sixty eight percentile. Rob the ten yard split
at one six six 'y one, that's only the twenty
eight percentile. So while we're talking about a burst of eight,
you're two three. You know, he did not help himself
at the combine, Like the tape shows better than his
measurables it does.

Speaker 7 (12:36):
It's uh, look, he's not a guy who's gonna wow
you in terms of just his peer athletic ability, which is,
you know, kind of like what we talked about a
little bit with comparison, you know, pretty audacious comparison here
in a Hall of Famer. At the same time, again,
I just see a guy who's who's as instinctive as
any running back in this class, including Jeremiah Love, and

(12:57):
I think that again then the personality I think is
important to mention here. When you back up a player
like Jeremiah Love, you're not going to get that many opportunities.
So when you do get your opportunities, you have got
to splash, and obviously he did. I mean he was
a very productive player. I mean he was his efficiency

(13:17):
rate in terms of creating big plays and creating uh
touchdown opportunities, uh special teams. Look, it's funny we talked
before about some of the great venues in football, whether
it be you know, going to Virginia Tech and enter
Samman or Pittsburgh and uh sticks, you know, and all that.

(13:38):
To me, one of the great rivalries has always been
Notre Dame USC and that was a hell of the game.
And Jeneian Price took back two kicks for touchdowns and
two punts I believe there were for touchdowns in that game.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Yeah, And so I just the.

Speaker 7 (13:56):
Playmaking ability when you need, when you have an opportunity
and you step up. I think that that makes a
lot of sense for the defending Super Bowl champions and
you have the ability and so many running backs, as
you know, Hugh, so many running backs think that their
stuff doesn't stink, that they are the guy. If you
have a back who is used to being part of
a rotation and you come into Seattle where it is

(14:19):
going to be a rotation, he's not going to be
I agree with you on hundred percent. He's running back
one right now. But I also think that ideally, see
how I was going to use the running back by rotation,
and I don't think a lot of running backs are
going to.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Be willing to do that.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
You missed you mentioned the SC game. There was a
rep in there. It was a zone left and he
came up the field and the safety came out of
the hole for USC and just smacked him and he
went down really easy, and then the SC the SC
had a chance to kind of woof on top of
him and what have you in And you know, I

(14:54):
didn't like that rep because I don't I think there's
a physicality. You know what uh we said with Marshawn Lynz.
You know, he closes the circle of physicality for the
football team, and so you know this is a market
departure from that. You know that, like there's there's things
that you love about his game. You know, the instincts

(15:15):
on the on the wide zone, the quickness, the vision
like he God put him on the planet to be
a running back.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Yeah right.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
I think I think he can be a contributor in
the passing game, but you know, the the that that
physicality and then and then so I think the physicality
is in question. I think the the home run, the
real long speed you know that you could have had
with Mike Washington, or that that Jeremiah Love has. You know,

(15:44):
I think that he's just kind of what I say
is centile was sixty eight uh in in in the
forty yard dash, But it's the other one that, Yeah,
the twenty eight percentile in the in the first time, Yeah,
one six. You know what that of context for me? Well,
DK Metcalf had one point four to five. Now you
say there's there's a thousand guys between one point four

(16:09):
five Metcalf is the fastest of all time. Well, I'll
get you what exactly what the the median is on there,
but you'd like to see in the low one five?

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Okay, that's what I'm looking for. I think for a
fact at home going Okay.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
Well, and and and generally think of this, A tenth
of a second is a yard. So if you if
he's racing in the first ten yards, if he's racing
and you and you say stop, you know, like a
photo finish, he's going to be a yard behind other
running backs after only ten yards, you know. So so
now that doesn't mean he plays that at that speed

(16:44):
does he look tape?

Speaker 3 (16:45):
He does.

Speaker 7 (16:46):
That's the thing, is like, in my opinion, Uh, you know, again,
this is the player I thought that was going to take.
And We've talked about this guy for months. I mean
I had him as the perfect fit on the Fox
mock draft a month ago. I had him as the
final selection at Seahawks dot com, you know, and my
final selection on Fox dot com.

Speaker 11 (17:04):
You know.

Speaker 7 (17:05):
So I've been pretty consistent. I thought this is going
to be the guy. And that's no inside information. I
just thought that he was a perfect fit for their system.
What I would say is that I know there's a
lot of NFL teams that I'm not spoken specifically with
the Seahawks about this, but I know there's a lot
of teams that are no longer looking at forty yard
dashtimes to combine. They're looking at Zebra technology, which is
basically GPS technology of how fast players actually play. And

(17:28):
in that regard, he tested well, don't. I don't have
the exact numbers off the top of my head, but
I know that.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
He want to be over twenty one miles an hour.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (17:38):
So so again I think that, you know, his speed
on the field is much more impressive than his speed
and workouts.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Well, Jajerian Price is calling, and I'm thinking we're having
some technical issues with our microphone up there. I do
believe we'll wait and see. If not, Jackson, we're gonna
get our break in here. We'll roll on it and
play it back here in just a couple of seconds.
So what'd you call it? Zebra technology? Zebra technology? I
think I'd like to get that for a microphone up
front here, so let's see if it works here in

(18:09):
a second. They're waiting for him to call in. It's funny,
of all these years, this is still our technology, a
speakerphone up front. What about zoom? We do zoom exactly
along the way. So we're waiting to hear we'll be
able to hear the Jackson. If we don't hear it,
then we'll take a quick break. We'll come back. We
should point out with the pick being made, they don't

(18:30):
move out of the first round. They still now have
just three picks left, number ninety six or number hang
on a pardon me, sixty four over all tomorrow on
ninety six over all tomorrow, so a second and third
round pick tomorrow. So do they use draft capital in
the next year to accumulate some picks on Day three,

(18:50):
Do they move one of those picks tomorrow to accumulate
because I just can't fathom one pick on day three
a six round pick for John Schneider.

Speaker 7 (19:00):
Yeah, I unless you know, he truly is looking to
kind of punt from this draft if they if the
Seahawks believe that this is just not a very good class,
then you know, let's face it, Hugh made a great
point about the You know, there are times where you
have a wonderful draft of middle round selection. Seatle has

(19:20):
done that before. But I also think that there is
a possibility that that that there's gonna be difficult for
very many rookies in this particular class, which I admit
is a little bit weaker than most to fit on
the roster. That is, you know, of course the Super
Bowl champions, there's just not that many holes. So as
long as you check the box of been running back,

(19:42):
an edge rusher in a cornerback that I think you're
feeling pretty darn good.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
About this truck. Just as we as we wait for
Price to call in and again hopefully we'll hear him
in a second, rob what do you make of the
San Fransco forty nine Ers trading all the way out
of the first round. I mean to me, they they
without making a pick, They won the first round in
the in the in the NFC.

Speaker 7 (20:02):
West, well in terms of quantity the number of picks
they're going to have, sure, But I also think that
similar to the Los Angeles Rams, and while I was
kind of just floored by their selection of, uh, you know,
the quarterback Ty Simpson, I thought there was opportunity here
for the Rams and for the forty nine Ers to
you know, close the gap a little bit with the Seahawks.

(20:24):
I mean, certainly with the Rams number thirteen overall, but
the forty nine Ers as well, there's some still, at
least in my opinion, some players who can have an
immediate impact. You can make the argument, In fact, I
am making the argument that in compare as far as
the Rams and the forty nine Ers, the two other
best teams in the NFC West, the Seahawks are going

(20:45):
to get a rookie who is going to make the
most immediate impact, at least at this point, because Ty
Simpson is going to make much of a rookie impact
unless Matthew Stafford of course, is you know, unable or
doesn't want to play next year for the Rams and
the forty nine ers, as you just said, Ian are
traded out. So you know, the Arizona Cardinals are gonna make,

(21:05):
you know, have some impact from their rookies this year,
but they have a lot farther to go to get
into the Seahawks level of play. So I thought this
was you know, planning ahead for John Lynch and the
forty nine Ers, playing ahead for Lesnie general managers of course,
for the for the Los Angeles Rams. But I think

(21:27):
the Sean McVay as head coach and the Kyle Shanahan
as head coach, of the respect of the Rams and
Fortynited respectively, they've got to be like, what the heck?
You know, this is our chance to compete right now,
and they didn't get that.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
Well. Listen, Seattle, just in terms of roster Stale got better,
they added running back one yep, Arizona got better. They
added the other running back one out of at a
Notre dame Arizona to help themselves. Now, Arizona's got a
long way to go to catch up to Seattle and
the Rams and the forty nine ers. For example, the
Rams with if you're just joining us taking Ty Simpson
at thirteen just again as a mind boggling one to me,
I I if we were sitting doing the Rams Draft

(22:03):
show right now, I think we'd be having a really
interesting conversation. Yeah, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 7 (22:09):
I just think that, uh, you know again, ty Simpson
may wind up becoming the next Drew Breeze or something,
you know, and so and I say that shorter quarterback
that is his game to me, is predicated on his
his decision making, his accuracy. And you're throwing the ball
to Pooka Nakua and DeVante Adams, you know you're you're
gonna look pretty good. But at the same time, just
in terms of the just pure arm talent, the drop

(22:32):
off between your current starter Matthew Stafford and ty Simpson
is fairly significant drop off here.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Uh you know in Stafford with the big arm, they
want to drive the ball down the field in that offense,
don't they. That's what That's what's kind of an interesting thing,
isn't you know? I mean that was kind of the
knock on golf I thought a little bit as well, right.

Speaker 7 (22:49):
Yeah, yeah, exactly, that's Jared Goff is actually a fairly
popular comp for for Ty Simpson, except that Jared Goff's
three inches tall, you know, and so you know, I'm
a Ty Simpson fan, you know. I thought he was
gonna go thirty third overall rather than you know, thirteenth,
so you know. But at the same time, I thought

(23:11):
that he was clearly QB two.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
In this draft, and he was QB two.

Speaker 7 (23:15):
And again, just the weapons and the respect I have
for Sean McVay as a play caller, I think that
he's gonna wind up playing being a good NFL player.
I just think that the Rams had an opportunity here
to again narrow the gap. I thought that a mackay
lemon at Casey conceptsy On especially. I mean, I would
say this, you know, when I think about the Rams

(23:38):
and the Seahawks last year, I think about, you know,
the impact that Rashid Shaheed made as a return man,
and Casey Conceptsion, in my opinion, is a very similar
player as Rashid Shaheed. I thought that the Rams would
take him, have him be the receiver to kind of
groom behind DeVante Adams and of course Puku Nakua. You know,
you're expecting that they're going to sign a long term

(23:59):
extension within him, but that Casey concepts you on, could
be the kind of air apparent at that receiver position
and then certainly as a return man that he could
basically just kind of match what Seattle had rashied he
could have been that for the Rams. And then with
Ruben Bain, as we talked about that when he fell
into their lap, I thought, oh my goodness, that's the
player there that he or conceptcy on. Both those players

(24:22):
make so much sense for the Rams. I would argue
that the Rams also could use a linebacker, and I
expect that to be one of their decisions, you know,
or one of their selections here on Day two. And
the Rams have not historically gone with linebackers, but I
think that that is a significant weakness for their team,
and there's linebackers in this class that I think could
could be an immediate impact player for them.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
Yeah, we're so early in the draft obviously with the
sol early just in the process with the draft to
see what's going on. I would just say with I
wonder with Price, I'm just gonna throw something out there
at you, just as we wait for him to call
in again if you're joining as you're listening to the
Draft of twenty twenty six NFL Draft on Sports Radio
ninety three points kJ R f M. The Seahawks have
taken Juderium Price with the thirty second pick. They do

(25:05):
not trade out of the first round, so they have
three picks as of now remaining. But they take Jujerium
Price from Notre Dame, the second Notre Dame running back taken.
By the way, according to the NFL research, Notre Dame the
first school in the common draft era to have each
of the first two running backs selected in the same
NFL draft, So no team's ever had back to back
running backs or their two running The first two running
backs of the draft were both from Notre Dame. That's never

(25:26):
happened before the same school, according to the NFL research.
Rob rang doesn't agree with that.

Speaker 7 (25:30):
I'm picking Auburn Carneal Williams and Rodney Brown.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
We'll see. Well, well, I'm gonna look that up. You
look that up in fact check, the NFL researcher. I
like that. God, if you get that bright and they
get it wrong, I am gonna be you deserve a
rear beer. Do you know what it's here a little bit,
it's one hundred percent what's gonna happen the if Price
was somewhere else, this sir, power five school, power four school,
whatever we have these days, who's in the Big twelve? Anyway,

(25:53):
if he was somewhere else and he was the lead back,
do you think he goes thirty two or do you
think he goes higher? He goes higher.

Speaker 7 (25:59):
And that's the thing is like I am. I mean,
I honestly I feel a little bit vindicated, you know,
because I've been kind of pound the table for this
guy here for a while with the Seahawks, and I
obviously who knows. I mean, I am wishing him well,
I want him to succeed, just because I'm wishing every
one of the players that was selected today to succeed.
But I do think that if you watch the tape

(26:23):
with this guy, not just the highlights, but you know,
really watch the tape, that I think that you can
see how his skill projects well to the NFL.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
And if all you do.

Speaker 7 (26:31):
Is look at the statistics, you know I mentioned before,
I mean he never had a single game in which
he had more than fifteen touches in a game, So sure,
you can make the argument that you know that he's
never been the bell cow, and he has not. But
I think that his game again projects well to the NFL.
I see the instincts, I see burst, I see power.

(26:53):
You know, h made a great point. I mean, there's
gonna be some snaps where he gets knocked on his butt,
you know. But I also think that there were some
gaping holes that Sialle's much improved offensive line created a
year ago. You know, we all kind of talked and
joked about how during the Super Bowl the way that
Kenneth Walker the third would kind of almost walk to

(27:13):
the lion of scrimmage, see the hole open, and then explode, right,
And that would be that that ten yard dash that
Hugh was articulating before that. Jadarian Price just didn't have
the numerical, uh, you know, the numbers to suggest that
he has that burst. I would disagree. I would say
that he doesn't walk up to the lion of scrimmage.

(27:34):
He hits the hole quickly and his speed he throttles
up and down better than again, in my opinion, that
any of they're running back in this class. I've said
it before, I say it again. I think that you know,
for as much talent as Jeremiah Love has, now that
we know where he's at, he's going to Arizona Cardinals
in and the Arizona Cardinals' offensive line is not very good,

(27:56):
and they've got a quarterback in Jacoby Brissett right now
or perhaps Garrettman, you know, Gardner Minshew. That again is
not going to scare defenses. I think the Generian Price
is a very good chance of putting up better numbers
as a rookie than Jeremiah Love does as a rookie
for the Arizona Cardinals. And so if he does do that,
then all this talk about that this was a you know,

(28:19):
a reach at number thirty two, overall, it's going to
go out the window. I think he's got a real
chance to be offensive rookie of the Year in this
system given the talent that's around him in Seattle.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Well, and Sharboney is not going to be ready to
start the year exactly, And the drop off from Zach
Charbonnay to everybody else is pretty significant. Like it's it's
a pretty, it's a pretty and it's and if we're
being honest, Charbonny wasn't Ken Walker. Yeah, so like the
drop off was big, so he's got an opportunity to
come in here and make an impact. I would also
add rob rang that Sale just addressed their biggest need. Yep,

(28:50):
like the cornerback position. See corner with the sea, the
cornerback position close. But this your defense is so stout
yep right, your defense is so you got job you
got Witherspoon, he was talking about me, and I pritched
it earlier. And maybe the guy's gonna ready to take
that next step along the way. Uh, they go big,
nickel a lot with em and worry anyway, if they

(29:11):
go dime, then maybe preche sits in there. They address
their biggest need, not just because of the departure of Walker,
but also the injury to charbone, the uncertainty surrounding that
because it happened so late. It's not like it happened
in Week five of the NFL season. It happened in
the playoffs. So all that they have the defending Super
Bowl champions that going into this offseason, did would you

(29:32):
agree address their biggest need? Agree with that?

Speaker 7 (29:34):
I mean, it's it's kind of a silly, uh you know, analogy,
but I I've used this analogy and talking to folks
before about why I thought this would make a lot
of sense for the Seahawks. Imagine yourself, you're walking into it.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
Sounds like Price he with U. Let's see if we
get them otherwise, Jackson, We're gonna take a break, my friend.
Let's stay. Here we go. You're gonna listen to Jerema
or Jendearium Price. Here we go. I'm doing well, man,
Welcome to Seattawa. I've got our media here ready to
far off. A few questions.

Speaker 12 (29:59):
Were you all right, Darian? How are you feeling?

Speaker 8 (30:04):
I'm great?

Speaker 13 (30:07):
How much did Seattle talk to you? I know they're
at your pro day in South Bend, but how much
tinkling did you have? This could have happened in Seattle?
I mean, you hear a lot of.

Speaker 14 (30:16):
Things, and being me, being the person I am, I
try not to listen to all the noise and the
media and NFL network and everything.

Speaker 8 (30:23):
But I knew that Seattle was was pretty interested in me, and.

Speaker 15 (30:28):
You know, they knew that the type of player I was,
what I bring for the program. And you know, I'm
just I didn't know what exactly gonna happen.

Speaker 8 (30:35):
But I'm I'm I'm so blessed to be in this
position and be picked by Seattle Sea.

Speaker 13 (30:40):
What made you think what made you believe the Seahawks
were interested? What was it about you or your fit
or your mesh with them when you talk to them.

Speaker 15 (30:47):
Yeah, me and the runner back coach for Hammick, we
had a couple of good conversations.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
One at the.

Speaker 8 (30:52):
Combine and then one zoom where we were just talking
about forty five minutes and yeah, just just just straight
ball and then to know each other and it just
felt like it was gonna be a good fit for me.

Speaker 16 (31:04):
How would you describe your running style and how it
fits in with the Seahawks do offensively.

Speaker 15 (31:10):
Yeah, Seahawks, you know, loved to run the ball. You
see what they did and the Super Bowl and and.

Speaker 8 (31:15):
What really got them so so that.

Speaker 15 (31:17):
Far uh winning it all is you know, got to
run the ball, and what I can do in the
backfield and also protecting quarterback and catching out of the
back foot is phenomenal. But also the stretch games outside zone,
that's my that's my.

Speaker 8 (31:30):
Bread and butter.

Speaker 14 (31:30):
So just being able to make one decisive mood and
get Burt.

Speaker 12 (31:35):
Can you tell us more about your ability to help
out in the passing game.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
It looks like you didn't do that at a time,
but obviously you're staying behind Jeremiah Love, who they used
a lot in that role.

Speaker 15 (31:44):
Yeah, and that was the biggest thing to show combine
and prote was just my ability to catch the ball at.

Speaker 5 (31:48):
The backfield case.

Speaker 8 (31:49):
I didn't show that as much on film, but they
they saw what I could do. They saw them my
rout run got smoother at the prote So just you know,
my knowledge about the game and with his man's own
stuff like that.

Speaker 15 (32:06):
I showed what I could do at the comein and
protest as far as passing wing with.

Speaker 8 (32:16):
Yeah, I'm I'm I'm back home in Dennison, Texas with
my family and teammates from high school coaches and everyone.

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Really, what was it.

Speaker 9 (32:24):
Like getting that call and sharing them on with your
family and friends.

Speaker 6 (32:28):
It was wild because I was I was walking around
the whole room, and so.

Speaker 8 (32:33):
Seattle was up.

Speaker 15 (32:34):
I was like, all right, this is the last one.
I'm gonna sit down. As I was going to sit down,
I get the call.

Speaker 8 (32:37):
And emotions just hit. I mean it was I thought
I would be a.

Speaker 15 (32:41):
Little bit more calm, but that call is that's that
phone call a little different when you get that phone
call and it's just immediate tears and and and enjoy.

Speaker 13 (32:49):
So did coach bring up the game against you guys
a couple.

Speaker 12 (32:52):
Of years ago to go to when you get talked to?

Speaker 8 (32:54):
He? So, yeah, every time we talked previously, uh to tonight,
he's always mentioned it. Uh, one thing you joked about.

Speaker 15 (33:04):
He's like, if I was a coach, I would have
handed you the ball more than win the loss. So
this year and say that was pretty funny, but but yeah,
he's good guy.

Speaker 9 (33:14):
Jean.

Speaker 17 (33:15):
You weighed two three at the combine. It looks like
is was that your playing weight last year? And and
and do you have an idea about where you want
to be weight wise for this upcoming year now?

Speaker 8 (33:27):
My plat my playing weight was would fluctuate two oh
five toy eight range. I was a little low for
the combine. It wasn't it wasn't planned.

Speaker 14 (33:36):
It was just you know, nerves and everything going on.
I was not trying to be two three, but I
do plan to be two ten playing weight.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
What would you say your your best attribute are your.

Speaker 5 (33:49):
Your best strength is running back?

Speaker 14 (33:53):
I'm my my my quickness when I get the ball
in my hands, and my decision making, my ability to
get to the second level and such a such a
you know, quick quick way, so in my versatility on offense,
but also what I can bring special teams wise, Can
you tell.

Speaker 12 (34:13):
Us about just your decision to stay at Notre Dame.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
I imagine you had offers to go elsewhere you're playing
behind Love.

Speaker 12 (34:20):
Was there any ever any consideration of transferring.

Speaker 8 (34:25):
No, I made it.

Speaker 14 (34:26):
It was in my heart to stay at Notre Dame.
It's the place I love and you know, building a
relationship those guys in the locker room and what we
had done the year before going to that championship, that's
what I wanted to do and that's why I wanted
to stay there.

Speaker 8 (34:37):
But also also made a chance to myself as well.

Speaker 14 (34:40):
You know, split rests with the best player in college football,
and I did that, and I showed what.

Speaker 8 (34:44):
I could do at the highest level.

Speaker 14 (34:45):
And it's you know, sitting here now, and it's it
was a great decision I could have made.

Speaker 12 (34:49):
Did you have teams coming after you though?

Speaker 8 (34:52):
I did?

Speaker 5 (34:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 16 (34:53):
Yeah, And you mentioned having to split carries with Jeremiah,
Like how much did that helped bring out the best
and you when you were scrapping for reps there knowing
who you were competing against to get those plays on Saturdays.

Speaker 8 (35:07):
The biggest thing was, you know, take advantage of every
single opportunity. And that's what I've been doing my whole
life since i was a kid in pee Wee.

Speaker 14 (35:14):
So to take advantage of all my opportunities. And that's
what I did.

Speaker 8 (35:16):
And but also just you.

Speaker 15 (35:18):
Know the guy he is, and and you know, reminding.

Speaker 14 (35:21):
Me that it's a game at the end of the day.
Just go out there and have fun.

Speaker 15 (35:23):
And I did that when it comes.

Speaker 13 (35:26):
To finishing eleven touchdowns?

Speaker 14 (35:28):
Can you talk about that when you in the restromt.

Speaker 5 (35:32):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (35:33):
The mindset is to get you know, get the ball
across the playing successfully and.

Speaker 6 (35:37):
Safely, and and if I can.

Speaker 14 (35:41):
Be a weapon with the ball in my hands and
whatever the coaches want me to do, you know, offense,
especially in anything, That's what I'm gonna do. And I
just have a knack for the touchdown, uh, you know,
make the make that one guy miss and and getting in.

Speaker 12 (35:52):
Though it sounds like.

Speaker 13 (35:54):
You watched the Super Bowl, what's it like watching what.

Speaker 15 (35:57):
Ken Walker did in that game?

Speaker 3 (35:58):
And knowing you're.

Speaker 18 (35:59):
Coming to that offense and might have a chance to
do stuff like that.

Speaker 15 (36:02):
Now you're here in Seattle. Yeah, exactly what you said,
coming to the right offense, offense that.

Speaker 8 (36:07):
Prides himselves and and and you know being bounced, uh
running and throwing the ball, but just their instais on
on running the ball first and how important that is.

Speaker 14 (36:17):
And you see, you know, Ken Walker getting the Super Bowl,
you know, MVP, And I think it's important and I'm
glad to be in the situation.

Speaker 9 (36:25):
So, Darian, when you say your bread and butter is
the outside zone when you get that rock, are you
kind of more hoping that the read takes you on
to bounce and you can get to the outside use
your speed or you're kind of hoping, hey, a cutback,
maybe make some guys miss on the cutback kind of
walk us through kind of your thought process and the
way you like to see that develop.

Speaker 8 (36:46):
I think there's nothing better than a than a smooth
cutback when a lineman does does their job and and
all you got to do is make a second level
guy miss Yeah, cutback is is I think that's the best,
the best feeling right there, or a scene through the
a gap or something. I think that's that's the best
filing for sure.

Speaker 15 (37:04):
Jeremiah, like you mentioned, I'm sorry considering your bond.

Speaker 9 (37:11):
With Jeremiah, as you just mentioned, was gonna be like
year of the Division.

Speaker 15 (37:17):
Oh man, I mean it's gonna be great getting.

Speaker 14 (37:20):
To meet him at the fifty yard line twice a year. Uh,
just you know, talk about the old times and like
you said, like we.

Speaker 8 (37:26):
Got a close bond, spend the last three years together
and and just seeing how we achieved our dreams. It's
gonna be honest.

Speaker 15 (37:33):
I can't wait.

Speaker 9 (37:34):
Are you gonna check in with Riley Mills to get
some tips on Seattle?

Speaker 5 (37:37):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (37:38):
Yeah, yeah, I definitely will.

Speaker 13 (37:40):
How is your mom your wide gen aian, what she's
gone through and how that inspired you?

Speaker 6 (37:48):
Yeah, it's inspired me a lot, specifically just the idea
of going through adversity. I truly believe that in order
to grow you have to go through painting adversary, adversity.

Speaker 14 (37:58):
And watch my mom do that, it made me believe
like there's nothing that could stop me getting to achieve
my dreams. And because she went through the worst, So
let's the you know, what's one little at that day
or adversity for me, you know that I can always
get through it.

Speaker 13 (38:13):
When's the first time in your life started dreaming about
being a first round.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Pick in the NFL.

Speaker 8 (38:20):
Since the age of ten?

Speaker 6 (38:22):
Watching its insane?

Speaker 13 (38:23):
You know, thank you, thank you, sir, than congratulations.

Speaker 3 (38:31):
Sorry, all right, there you go. That is Jerim Price,
the newest Seattle Seahawk pick thirty second overall in the
NFL Draft. Will take a break. We're still going to
hear from John Steiner and Mike McDonald before we sign offs. Well,
stick around, don't go anywhere. Our Draft Covers continues live
from the Virginia Mason Athletic Center on Sports Radio ninety
three point three KJFM.

Speaker 1 (38:49):
Now back to the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, presented
by Frost Brood Cores, Lock Cold is the Rookies and
brought to you by Dino's Bulb. Been written on Sports
Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.

Speaker 15 (39:03):
You hear a lot of things, and being me, being
the person I am, I try.

Speaker 14 (39:07):
Not to listen to all the noise and the media
and NFL network and everything.

Speaker 15 (39:11):
But I knew that Seattle was was pretty interested in me.

Speaker 8 (39:14):
And you know, they knew that the.

Speaker 15 (39:16):
Type of player. I was what I bring for the program,
and you know, I'm just I didn't know what exactly
gonna happen, but I'm I'm I'm so blessed to be
in this position and be picked bless yeado.

Speaker 3 (39:26):
Yeah, all right, there you go. That is a Juderium
Price wanting to go meeting with the media VI A
conference call for the first time. You're here live right
here on ninety three point three KJR FM. We're at
the Virginia Mason Athletics Center, Seahawk Draft Headquarters, Seahawk Headquarters
overall as we get ready for yes, indeed, the end
and the wrap up of Day one of the NFL Draft.
Super Bowl champion Seahawks take Juderium Price running back out

(39:47):
of Notre Dame, not trade out of that first round.
We're waiting for John Schneider and Mike McDonald to pop
in here. Once they do, we'll head back up to
the podium and we'll we'll get to that in just
a couple of seconds. For those keeping track at home, Yes,
we we are one PB and j N. Ladies and gentlemen,
The legend continues. Uh, there are those softy at the
top of the list and others that love the legend.

(40:08):
Here we all Mike McDonald, John Schneider heading up to
the podium. Let's listening right now.

Speaker 5 (40:14):
Warm it up, Chris. What you do man? Well, you're
a cousin lake on Terror found the back. I'll come
back before you are a new end. Seen you in
a minute. We're just going.

Speaker 13 (40:30):
Ready.

Speaker 5 (40:33):
He's good. Yeah, yeah, okay, okay. Are you doing Dave's
job or yes?

Speaker 19 (40:45):
I assume you probably got some calls to try to
trade down there, and obviously was just siding the area
and just kind of wi when with that process.

Speaker 5 (40:51):
There would you like that? Yeah, great player, great person.

Speaker 19 (40:54):
Uh, we thought we had some opportunities for a minute,
they fell apart. There's a lot of like there's not
trading going on there right and like right ahead of us.
But uh, I mean he was he kind of stood alone.
And then great player. The person's outstanding, the competitor. He's
just a y I mean, he's a seahawk. It's it's

(41:17):
it's really cool. And then we were kind of actually
concerned that people were gonna go ahead of us because
it was it felt like it was just so out there,
you know, in terms of.

Speaker 5 (41:24):
Like mock drafts and what have you?

Speaker 20 (41:26):
You thought somebody was gonna jump ahead of you four
him thirty? What about the person? Kay makes some like
you talking about the cult in the periods? How can
you how would you subject from some of the dreams
of that.

Speaker 11 (41:37):
See well, I think it's a testament to our process
and like the the alignment we have from the personnel
folks all the way to like Thomas Hammock, the process
on the coaching side. I think the great thing that
we've done them the three years that we've worked together
is like especially in the first round, the guys that
we brought onto our team or we're really confident about

(41:58):
like the type people they are in the see like
the seahawk uh way of doing business around here. So
that in addition to being a great player, and then
you know, being dynamic and our vision form and our offense,
I mean.

Speaker 5 (42:12):
Just can't help but be really excited about it. So
I think it's a great fit.

Speaker 12 (42:14):
What about him?

Speaker 11 (42:15):
So that to see well, I think the I think
it just comes in different like forms, right, But you
just you learn about the person, about the leadership.

Speaker 5 (42:24):
The resiliency, the.

Speaker 11 (42:26):
The humility, I mean, just the commitment to Notre Dame
by you know, by staying there. Yeah, loyalty, loyalty, I mean,
it's my family story, all those things. I mean, it's
just it's a great, cool story. Someone that you get
excited about, you love, love talking to, and you can
envision him, you know, just sticking out here, like you

(42:48):
can feel him in the building and feel like he's
he's one of us.

Speaker 5 (42:50):
So in time, how do you.

Speaker 18 (42:58):
See his skills set matching with the offense that can
walk in some success and you guys.

Speaker 11 (43:03):
Flat, well, we're gonna run wide zone, and he's gonna
run wide zone, and then we're gonna run some some
gap scheme. He's he gonna run some of that too,
and then uh, the past game can come alive too.

Speaker 21 (43:17):
You know.

Speaker 11 (43:17):
I think that's a part of our offense in general
that we can take another step in is including our
our halfbacks in the in the in the past game.
So and then he's he's a great special team player
as well. I mean the kick return stuff. You know,
we'll see how it shakes out in other phases, but
it's gonna come in compete, compete with the rest of
the guys, and let's uh, let's go rock and roll John.

Speaker 3 (43:39):
He was not a starter there liter name for a reason.

Speaker 5 (43:41):
Bobiously. Yeah, career, what's.

Speaker 18 (43:44):
What's the challenge of trying to project some of that
both on the workload front and the receiving problem. You
trying to figure out what you can be as a
full package for you when you can't necessarily have them
in college.

Speaker 5 (43:55):
Yeah, great question.

Speaker 19 (43:56):
But believe it or not, it really wasn't that hard
because he could you know, it's it's Trode was outstanding.

Speaker 5 (44:01):
You could see the way.

Speaker 19 (44:02):
You know, I'm really I'm very good friends with his
his agent. He you know, his agent went to him,
you know, a couple of years ago and was like, yay,
you need to you know, like I you know, improved
in the passing game or whatever.

Speaker 5 (44:13):
And so he would on us out listen to him
a y you know, went and.

Speaker 19 (44:18):
Got with his receiver g the receivers group and work
with those guys receiver coach too, and and uh yeah,
I mean, you know, the the I just think it's
I think it's a pretty cool story that there're they
there's two guys could drafted in the first round too,
you know, from the same school. And and it.

Speaker 5 (44:35):
Was really a story you watched like the whole all fall.
I mean, these guys were dynamic. The two of these
guys different runners. But uh, but but.

Speaker 19 (44:46):
Yeah, he's I feel like, you know, it's actually kind
of like talking to you guys about JSN just like
with his high school career in Texas. You know, it
was like five thousand yards and he's a fifty five
and fifty five touchdown into defind Yeah, I mean, yup.

Speaker 5 (45:03):
Could you both a little bit about the cause? Yeah, y.

Speaker 21 (45:08):
You both talk about loyalty although the past, over the
past few years, you've been rewarding players that stay at
their school into their fressuran Why is loyal be such
an important part stuff for Tea?

Speaker 11 (45:20):
I mean, I don't know if we've like explicitly t
it talked about it, you know, it's I think it.

Speaker 5 (45:27):
I think it's just.

Speaker 11 (45:28):
Part of the overall like picture of the person that
we evaluate and it's probably isn't a coincidence that keeps
coming up, you know, so, but I don't know, johnnyth Yeah,
I think that.

Speaker 19 (45:39):
Stuff just benefits itself in our competitor scale too.

Speaker 5 (45:42):
M I mean there's a.

Speaker 19 (45:43):
Level of of uh, there's certain you know, character aspects
that you have to conduct yourself in a certain manner
to be able to to compete at that level too.

Speaker 5 (45:56):
So uh yeah, it's really just part of our whole character.

Speaker 11 (46:01):
Uh A score that that's a better answer, John, you
mentioned that in the first round that portrays that kind
of targeted figure out the blog.

Speaker 5 (46:10):
Were you surprised by how many trades were happening.

Speaker 3 (46:12):
Over and over or whatever was my head?

Speaker 5 (46:14):
Yeah, it was weird.

Speaker 19 (46:15):
I thought we were going back for sure, and then
things just went like no, no, no, no no. So
I think everybody was must have been hyper focused there with
like Rutledge, Chris Johnson, Folk, Uh, I forget who else
written there.

Speaker 5 (46:33):
Sorry, it just happened.

Speaker 18 (46:34):
Do you guys uh talk about the role leader and
you running back or exploit it and making new starts.

Speaker 5 (46:40):
Yeah, I mean, I mean we're all part of it. Yeah.

Speaker 19 (46:44):
He did have great Zoom interviews though, Like he had
a great Zoom interview with Uh yeah.

Speaker 5 (46:49):
Tom mean Thomas's stuff. Yeah, he's a beast.

Speaker 3 (46:51):
I mean.

Speaker 11 (46:54):
I think he's like he's just kind of dove in
head first with how we operate here, and he's he's
someone that I've leaned on since since he's got here
in terms of some of like the big picture head
coaching stuff. I mean, obviously you trust his opinion on
I mean, been coaching high level running backs for a
really long time in addition to being a really successful

(47:15):
head coach.

Speaker 5 (47:16):
So but I I I don't I.

Speaker 11 (47:19):
I think it's about part of the course on like
on position coach involvement. In terms of our process.

Speaker 18 (47:24):
What are some of the skills of the runner that
stand out?

Speaker 5 (47:27):
Man accelerat instant acceleration, vision like cut back.

Speaker 19 (47:33):
Ability, but his ability to work it back like not
just completely balancing it all the time, he just kind
of like work it back inside.

Speaker 5 (47:42):
And then probably is his his contact balance?

Speaker 13 (47:49):
How much where?

Speaker 15 (47:50):
How much interesting?

Speaker 7 (47:52):
How cool?

Speaker 4 (47:53):
Do you do that couch to prove that?

Speaker 5 (47:56):
I'm not sure. I I I can't answer that.

Speaker 3 (48:00):
Maybe it was a quarterback.

Speaker 5 (48:01):
The dynamic that you disipate to be include that well, uh,
you know, we.

Speaker 19 (48:10):
You try to project these things out, and you know,
we identified a couple of teams that it might happen with,
But that was it was a little just a little
I don't know who was trying to trade for him
or not.

Speaker 5 (48:25):
I can't answer that you.

Speaker 17 (48:27):
Measure a two agree at the combine, How does that
factor in the ebal and and what.

Speaker 3 (48:31):
Would be the ideal way you.

Speaker 9 (48:33):
Wanted to play at?

Speaker 5 (48:37):
I think that's a little light.

Speaker 11 (48:38):
I think that it was a few pounds lighter than
he then he said he played at. I think it's
one of those things where once we get him in
our program and figure out what the best but what
the best like body comp is for him.

Speaker 5 (48:51):
I mean, I don't know if.

Speaker 11 (48:51):
There's an ounce of fout on 'em, but we'll s
we'll we'll look at it and and see what's best
for us and best for him and kind of go
from there, right, I mean, we'll see who's a living
interest year.

Speaker 19 (49:02):
What does that say like his finish ability or the decisiveness. Yeah,
like I said, I mean his his his uh, one
of his super.

Speaker 5 (49:12):
Talents is basically just.

Speaker 19 (49:15):
His ability to cut back and then kind of like
crease it. And he's just he's just got that.

Speaker 22 (49:20):
Like I mean, he has home run speed, he has
like he has explos a lot of explosive runs and uh,
you know he's.

Speaker 19 (49:29):
Excuse me, to return three kickoffs for touchdowns in his
career two this year. You know, that's such a unique
feel the usc game was ridiculous.

Speaker 22 (49:42):
Yeah, just like that that you know, he that's like
the instant acceleration.

Speaker 18 (49:47):
I talked about how you guys got your tea kind
of reports for your team.

Speaker 12 (49:51):
Uh, but he also was trying to figure out whether people.

Speaker 18 (49:53):
Are gonna take with who's a harder.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
Year to kind of scout where and where.

Speaker 18 (49:57):
People are gonna dolve in his round.

Speaker 5 (50:01):
Uh. Yeah, I'm sorry. It was a big gap.

Speaker 19 (50:09):
I'm trying to think of it, but d I don't
wanna give away. Yeah, we'll talk about it later. But yeah,
it was it was a little more. It's been a
little bit. It's it's it's unique. It was a neat
it's been a unique first round.

Speaker 5 (50:26):
It like obviously you guys I went really fast. It
was it was like free arms.

Speaker 3 (50:31):
Yeah, do you ever seet but do you anticipate?

Speaker 18 (50:33):
Uh Jadari and help it out on your tag offer.

Speaker 11 (50:35):
Jah Uh, we're gonna train him and we'll we'll just
take her from there. So it's probably all I can
probably know right now.

Speaker 18 (50:43):
Okay, when you identify some of your you talking about
Ja Darisa, He's.

Speaker 13 (50:46):
Just see how is it instant cats when you need.

Speaker 4 (50:49):
Somebody like you kind of know right off of.

Speaker 7 (50:50):
That or is it do you mean because that us?

Speaker 5 (50:54):
I mean, John can answer it too.

Speaker 11 (50:55):
To me, it's just it's kind of just the culmination
of little process you. I think it happens a different times.
I think probably the common denominator is like the shared
excitement from everyone that's had like, uh inc like encounter
with these people. And that's what gets you fired up.
Is a lot of people that you respect and they
they know that they know him very m way better

(51:17):
than I do.

Speaker 5 (51:18):
And and then uh yeah, that's that's what gets you
fire up about him.

Speaker 3 (51:22):
John, recognize your peace with the pick, but it is
the right concerned with only having a pretty days through
up away.

Speaker 5 (51:28):
Yeah yeah, they just concerned.

Speaker 19 (51:29):
Yeah no, absolutely not. Yeah, yeah no, I I did.
I did honestly think we were gonna be able to
move there for a minute.

Speaker 5 (51:39):
And uh.

Speaker 19 (51:41):
Still maybe still maybe have a shot at him, but uh,
sometimes these things they just don't work out. Like we
talked about it on the radio show today. I mean
two thousand twenty one, I believe they the three picks
and we really wanna d and so we picked on
and then the next pick was like we couldn't really

(52:05):
move and then same things. Just at some point you
have to make a decision.

Speaker 12 (52:10):
As you guys studied, Uh, like was passing as you start?

Speaker 3 (52:14):
Was there a play that like really JD.

Speaker 5 (52:16):
The cool kids going JD? Yeah?

Speaker 18 (52:18):
Uh, is there a play that that really you guys
like watched over and over again that reallys stood out?

Speaker 5 (52:22):
M it's a good question. It's like a swing pass.

Speaker 19 (52:26):
He gets a pitt, Yeah, that was cool the Arkansas
a swing pas Arkansas?

Speaker 5 (52:32):
Yeah, Arkansas called swing pass and kind of brief I
guess do you get that? Give me no? Yeah?

Speaker 9 (52:41):
Philosophically, are you are you like, hey, he's the first round?

Speaker 3 (52:45):
He's a first round guy?

Speaker 8 (52:46):
Was Zach hurt right now?

Speaker 4 (52:48):
He's he's already one from the first snap?

Speaker 18 (52:50):
Or do you kind of or put him in the
back of the line and he's got.

Speaker 15 (52:53):
To earn his way up?

Speaker 12 (52:53):
Like where where are you on?

Speaker 6 (52:54):
Where?

Speaker 3 (52:54):
How are you standing up on?

Speaker 5 (52:55):
On that type of thing?

Speaker 11 (52:56):
I think I think it was just I don't have
a stand philosophy, honestly, Just come in, coach him up.

Speaker 5 (53:05):
You know, we'll get.

Speaker 11 (53:05):
Reps with with all the groups probably at some point
and and we'll go from there. You know, we're not
just gonna stick him right there are the ones he's
gonna but I mean he's gonna he's gonna have evample
opportunity to earn, earn a bunch of carries and a
bunch of bunch of touches.

Speaker 20 (53:19):
What did you mentioned your stories of family life You've talked.

Speaker 13 (53:22):
About your Pom's kind of about it. Yeah, did you
see how that made him pay? In fact, there wasn't
what that spoke for me about.

Speaker 11 (53:31):
Well, look, I'm just I'm hearing the story from from
the people that are involved in the process, and it's
you know, it's it's it's an interesting exercise to put
yourself in their shoes from when that happened in their life,
and and it.

Speaker 5 (53:45):
Like that that.

Speaker 11 (53:46):
That really grounds you pretty quickly, you know. And so
I mean a lot of a lot of these guys
throughout the whole process, here's like holy smokes man, like
you know, for the for them to be able to
put themselves in this situation in their lives, giving a
lot of things that had to go through is just
really really impressive.

Speaker 5 (54:03):
So you can't help but res respect a lot of
these guys.

Speaker 18 (54:06):
Shown some of those getting before time comes to some
concerns list about.

Speaker 3 (54:09):
All sexperit you what, what do.

Speaker 10 (54:10):
You kind of seen being in that area and then
things gouting him evaluating.

Speaker 19 (54:15):
Yeah, I think it's I think it's three times in
the last uh two seasons, and uh.

Speaker 5 (54:21):
It's something that I mean, I mean Thallas Hammock's awesome thing.

Speaker 19 (54:25):
He he He's already talked to him about sometimes on
these zoom calls, you know.

Speaker 5 (54:29):
So yeah, I'm surely improved.

Speaker 21 (54:34):
Right as your evaluating motor he is, or if you
want orty two wherever he is.

Speaker 3 (54:38):
Uh, what is Zach's timeline? By the way, there's a rough,
rough timeline.

Speaker 11 (54:43):
I can't I can't give you a timeline right now,
but uh, I can tell you he's killing it like
he's just as as we.

Speaker 5 (54:50):
Knew he would, you know, as I mean, Yeah, we've
said it the whole lot year in about anybody. It's
Zach charbonny. But I'm excited for him. He's in a
great spirit.

Speaker 11 (55:00):
It's like, you know, the guys downstairs are doing a
great job with them, and it's I think he's with
these long term injuries. Just gotta like, you know, it's
I say it all the time, you just gotta like
stack these these things. You gotta be able to get
to the next thing and then go right it and
that's what he's doing.

Speaker 5 (55:15):
So I'm excited for Zach John.

Speaker 6 (55:17):
What whether it's Jarringan.

Speaker 3 (55:19):
Or someone else.

Speaker 18 (55:20):
How big of a priority was coming out of the
scrap over running back before you guys?

Speaker 5 (55:26):
Uh? Yeah, I mean it was. It was important, wasn't
I i'mn't gonna like completely force it, but it was it.

Speaker 19 (55:31):
W it was important. There's still some dark good running
backs left, but yeah, it was it. It was definitely
you know, if you said, hey, your needs, yeah, it
was definitely one of our when we just saw some
was loss A, you know, a really good, really good
runner and Ken Walker you know, uh.

Speaker 3 (55:53):
So yeah, anything else Brian brought us.

Speaker 19 (55:57):
Uh is that.

Speaker 5 (55:59):
So that's yes, Dave?

Speaker 3 (56:02):
If you can draft the running back every time you went.

Speaker 19 (56:04):
Yeah yeah, yeah, so yeah, uh well I just played
the position growing up and.

Speaker 5 (56:15):
Okay, Brian, and.

Speaker 19 (56:18):
Then you know, when I started, it was like like
the position that was best to evaluating and so I
didn't really know how to evaluate safeties that's very well
or quarterback. So it was kind of like, well, this
running back is pretty good and that running back's pretty good,
and that guy's good at this.

Speaker 5 (56:34):
And that you know, so yeah, he's not he's not wrong.
All right, on that note, have a good evening.

Speaker 3 (56:46):
There you go. That is John Schneider and Mike McDonald
talking about the new Seattle Seahawk, and that of course
is Juderium Price. The running back is, uh, we wrapped
a couple of things jumped out. We got about ten
more minutes left here, guys, it looks like, if I'm right, Jackson, right,
we'll go we'll go about about ten minutes left here,
and we'll wrap things up. A couple of things here

(57:09):
to jump out and and make sure everbody's mic is
on and this is this is there we go look
at that. Huh back in my producer days. All right,
girl good, all right. A couple things jumped out that
I wrote down. Let me let me let's start with
jeneiing price before I get to the other thing. Because
the other thing is the number of times he talked

(57:29):
about moving wanted to move out and do something, maybe
still get priced. We'll get to that a second. He said, loyalty,
and then they kind of downplayed it a little bit,
but they talked about the loyalty stated Notre Dame. And
in today's world he probably could have gone somewhere else
and made some pretty good money. He's playing behind the
guy that was the number three overall pick in the draft, right,
So that's a it's an interesting concept that they have.

Speaker 4 (57:52):
Yeah, and you know we we heard from Jendering himself
he said he just loves Notre Dame. I mean, you know,
you think of the coach freeman there and the culture.
I mean I get a sense that they are really
having a Seahawks style buy in and culture there.

Speaker 3 (58:11):
But you know you mentioned.

Speaker 4 (58:13):
The uh, the impressions about you know, trying to talk about,
you know, move back. I'd love to get the sound.
Can we get the sound of like the first eight
or ten seconds of John Schneider can be?

Speaker 3 (58:26):
Did you hear what I heard? Do you kind of
get a sense of something? Look?

Speaker 4 (58:30):
Usually, what if I make a claim on a radio,
I'm constantly running a filter like I want to have
if I make a claim, I want to feel like
that's that's the that's the locomotive and there there, you know,
there's there's some freight cars behind me.

Speaker 3 (58:45):
Here you go. Yeah, please, yeah, great player, great person.

Speaker 19 (58:49):
We thought we had some opportunities for a minute, they
fell apart. There's a lot of like there's not trading
going on there and like right ahead of us. But
I mean he was he kind of stood alone, like
great player, the person's outstanding, the competitor, he's just a yeah.
I mean, he's a seahawk. It's it's it's really cool.

(59:12):
And then we were kind of actually concerned that people
were gonna go ahead of.

Speaker 5 (59:14):
Us because it was.

Speaker 3 (59:18):
That's what I got that.

Speaker 4 (59:19):
Well, here's what I'm a I'll just get right to it.
I'm not in either of their heads, but you know,
I'm sixty two years old.

Speaker 3 (59:27):
Ye're about my age.

Speaker 4 (59:28):
We we've seen people my sense and I don't have
any evidence to back it up other than my gut feel.
I feel like they were disappointed. Okay, I think I
think John Schnyder was disappointed. I think Mike McDonald was disappointed.
I thought his body language Mike McDonald. I feel like
Mike McDonald might have wanted a defensive player. I'm like,

(59:50):
I'm having all this speculation, or maybe they're just exhausted.
I could be dead ass wrong. I'm not gonna freaking
buy die on a beach about this claim. I'm just
saying my gut, but something fell off there.

Speaker 3 (01:00:02):
Okay, oh wait, we've been doing this and Rob rang
with as well. Humility in furnesce with you done o'clock
here in Sports Radio nine to three point three k RFM.
We'll keep it here for a few more minutes. I wrote,
I wrote that down. I wrote that exact same thing
down here. And that's why I'm glad you went down
that road. I know you're kind of sniff around talking
to some guys. What what's the impression you got?

Speaker 7 (01:00:20):
H I think that they thought they had a trade
in place, and I think that they were pretty confident
that they'd still be able to get j Darion price
five picks later kind of a thing, and so I
can understand that disappointment.

Speaker 3 (01:00:33):
I also think since that it kind of felt out
a little bit.

Speaker 7 (01:00:37):
Sometimes John comes in and he and I haven't seen
Mike mcgonald, obviously, it's only been one other year. You know,
we've seen uh, you know, Mike's head coach and being
able to kind of gush about players. But there's been
times where John's walked in just like I mean, it
looked like he was KRT reeling, and he seemed so
excited about about some of these players, and so maybe
it is exhaustion. I think that that's fair. I think,

(01:00:58):
you know, I can speak for myself. This draft flew,
you know, that dropped them from ten minutes to eight
minutes per selection. I think if you thought you had
a trade in place and suddenly it evaporated in front
of your eyes, then that could kind of change some
things too. So I think that's fair. I wanted to
kind of give this analogy, and I apologize. I do

(01:01:20):
think that there is something to be said about the
idea of just put yourself and let's say it's Thanksgiving Eve.
You walk in the grocery store and you see there's
one turkey left, and you have ten other things that
are on your list, but you see there's one turkey left,
and you're like, you know what, I'm gonna grab that
turkey and I'll get the canned yams in a moment,
but I need to get this damn tricky first. I

(01:01:41):
think that there's an element of that here that if
you don't get the running back now, then you are
not going to sleep all the night, and you're potentially
the easiest way to get yourself back to the super
Bowl is to make sure you still have this good
run game going. And so I think that's I think
they got their turkey, and then they're going to do
the rest of shopping.

Speaker 3 (01:01:59):
Is they go.

Speaker 7 (01:02:00):
And then maybe as you're sitting dropping around, you're looking
at that turkey like it's a good turkey, but it's
not the best one. Maybe I should have went somewhere else.
But I do think that they there's a sense of
accomplishment that they checked the biggest box, but maybe they
are not as exuberant about the player because I think
that they thought they were going to be able to
get a little bit more than they got.

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
Well, I think that.

Speaker 4 (01:02:24):
Look, we already had Schnyder talking about how they want
to talk they all but took a biplane with a
sign and flew it around every city in the NFL
saying we want to move back, all.

Speaker 3 (01:02:35):
Right, So we already have that going into the draft today.

Speaker 4 (01:02:38):
And but then we had we had Jackson play the
initial audio.

Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
But later it brought up again.

Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
When he brought it up again, what did he say?
He said, there was all these trades at twenty five,
twenty six, twenty seven, twenty eight, whatever the numbers were,
and he said it looked like he seemed to lude
I'm gonna paraphrase now that they had they thought they
had deals and then because of all those trades that
that went by, and if we went through these details

(01:03:06):
by deal to I mean, it's a.

Speaker 3 (01:03:09):
Twenty six was traded, twenty seven was traded, twenty eight
was traded, UH, twenty nine had been traded earlier, thirty
was traded in thirty.

Speaker 4 (01:03:15):
One was I think what happened what my interpretation all traded.
What he said is that he thought that there was options,
and then when they got the thirty two, nobody was
Whatever options had been on the table twenty minutes before,
they weren't there. And they're sitting there going, nobody wants
to trade with us? Yeah, and then they go, who's
the dude on our board?

Speaker 3 (01:03:34):
Now?

Speaker 4 (01:03:35):
Maybe maybe it was price and there if they're disappointed,
maybe it's just like, hey, we wanted that price, like
like hands down, we wanted price. We just wanted to
get them four picks later and pick up you know.
You know some of the deals we had UH were
you know, we thought would really help us and we'd
still be able to get Price or or we're fine
if we get Washington, or whatever it may have been.

(01:03:56):
I'm just telling you that that, you know, you just
kind of connect the dots on what we've heard and
the body language, and you know something's a miss.

Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
Yeah. I think I think it's really simple. I think
it's anything what you guys are saying. I don't think
it is any out about it that. I think they
like what Rob said. They probably felt like they could
get him later and they could pick him up later,
or a coompable back. They're never gonna sit up that podium.
They drafted Malik McDowell. They drafted a lot of dudes
over the years. They've never said up that podium and said, yeah,
we settled for a guy. But it really felt like

(01:04:26):
body language. And it's interesting that everyone's kind of reading
the same thing. It felt like body language. Tone. Yeah,
it was about that's the most subdued I've ever heard
John Schneider after a first round pick in the We've
been in this building and.

Speaker 4 (01:04:40):
We've been in that interview standing ten feet away from
him six thousand and ten since.

Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
The seventeenth time. Yeah, this is time. This is a
set so so I don't want to diminish the point,
but I think it is. I think it's important because
the draft is all about it's it's it's a strategy.
This guy owns the draft like he has done a
great job in seventeen years. Yea, this is drop seventeen.
He has done a great job and probably has had

(01:05:05):
He's probably had more wins. His win loss record would
be if he's a pitcher, he's twenty and one, Like
he's he's done really well. It just felt tonight and
Robbie says there's times he comes in here cartwheel and
that dude like he's like, hey, yeah, and it was.
There was none of that today. There was none of
that today. Doesn't mean, and we should point out, doesn't

(01:05:25):
mean he's not gonna be a really good player. Doesn't
mean this guy is not going to be an impact
player for Seattle. I just think that they wanted to
accomplish quarterback.

Speaker 4 (01:05:33):
After a game, Okay, it's thirteen for twenty one, one
hundred and you know, ninety one yards, you know, a
touchdown and an interception. I'm not not horrible, but nothing
like I think.

Speaker 3 (01:05:44):
He has a standard for himself.

Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
Like I think that that he, you know, like an
athlete schnyder. He's schnyder like an athlete is saying, Hey,
this is my time, you know, like I'm I'm experience,
I'm on the top of my game. I'm gonna go
and I got all these I'm gonna I'm gonna move down. Look,
and I get I'm venturing into the to such speculation.

(01:06:06):
You say, how are you putting thoughts in his head?
But I think it could be a reasonable inference that
he as good as he is.

Speaker 3 (01:06:13):
Yeah, And having.

Speaker 4 (01:06:15):
Already expressed his desire to trade down, having admitted in
that that press conference that they had a bunch of
things on the line and then they disappeared, he thought
that he was going to be the wheeler dealer, and
all of a sudden, when it came to you know,
there was no you know, there's no there's no there's
there's no no no extra girls asked, asked to the

(01:06:36):
prom man.

Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
It's tough. It's tough one in the Super Bowl. You're
thirty two overall. Yeah, tough one in the damn super Bowl.
It's it's a hard place to be. Yeah, real fast,
I've got two minutes and forty five seconds quickly from
you tomorrow. They're at sixty four right now, last pick
of the second round. They do have draft capital to
work with if they want to do something else to
get Day three picks. Right now, they're picking at the

(01:06:57):
end of the second round, and then they're picking in
the third round. What do you think and what can
they do? What kind of quality player can they get?

Speaker 7 (01:07:02):
Yeah, cornerbacks and edge rushers are still really really deep.
You know, there was probably four or five corners that
we just talked about, you know, Colton Hood, Jamb McCoy,
Brandon Cisay, trade on stukes that are I expect to
go in the tech next ten to fifteen to twenty picks,
And same thing with the edge rushers. Another five or
six guys I expect to go in the next ten

(01:07:23):
to fifteen picks. Obviously there's gonna be some other players
that are going to get selected, so I wouldn't be
surprised at all if the best player available a number
sixty four overall is either a corner or an edge
rusher and basically just kind of goes down the list
like we talked.

Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
About, and there should be some quality there with very.

Speaker 7 (01:07:38):
Good, very much there's good football players in this draft,
they're just not superstars. And again, I think that this
ultimately kind of tied in to your guys the point before.
Like I think John wonta trade down. I think that
he was surprised at all those possibilities evaporated. But you
said it, Ian, what can have be in the Super
Bowl champion? Nobody wants to be your buddy anymore. They're

(01:07:58):
trying to compete and be in your spot. And I
think at those picks, just those trades adoperated.

Speaker 4 (01:08:02):
I got ninety seconds left, I think to say they're
not superstars, think of all the Pro Bowl and Hall
of Fame players from the second, third, fourth round. Alvin
Kamara was the third round, right, Like, well, it's just sick.
The Seahawks. kJ Wright was a fourth round, Richard Sherman
was a fifth rounder, right, Cam was a fifth round. Like,
they don't seem like superstars. Now, that's why they didn't

(01:08:24):
get drafted tonight. But they're waiting. The football gods know
they're a future superstar. It's just we mortals don't know yet.
They're in that and draft and they're going to be
drafted tomorrow them and and they're gonna be drafted Saturday.

Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
But I think they're there. I think that's the disappointment
is this. They know, they know the work they get
done on days two and three, and they don't.

Speaker 4 (01:08:48):
Have to only have three picks left, and and they
wanted to move down to be able to to they
work that match.

Speaker 3 (01:08:55):
They want to find cam kJ Shuram, all those dudes.
They want Chris Carson, whoever it is. Okay, we got
thirty seconds left. You got a faintal thought.

Speaker 4 (01:09:02):
Well, I said in earlier in the evening, I think
the number one need for the Sales Seahawks is running back.

Speaker 5 (01:09:07):
They got it.

Speaker 4 (01:09:08):
So they got a running back that many believe is
the number two running back. Nobody believes he's number one.
Uh you know, Mike Washington, what have you. So let's
let's end on a good note. They got the canine was.

Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
A big loss.

Speaker 4 (01:09:20):
This is a big step to replace him.

Speaker 3 (01:09:23):
We'll see if he can play Hugh millon. Rob Rag
you for Nest Chuck in Ashley tomorrow morning at seven
or six o'clock. We'll see you then. Good night,
