Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now back to the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, presented
by Frost Brood Coors, Luck Gold Is the Rookies and
brought to you by Dino's Pulbin. Written on Sports Radio
ninety three point three KJR FM.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I'll tell you what, man, We are having a day
here at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
What a day so far.

Speaker 4 (00:19):
Man.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
The Hawk pr staff provided us with some girl Scout cookies.
We had some ice cream churos in the cafeteria or
carne asada.

Speaker 5 (00:28):
Very good.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
I just got a text it that my drake Cleeding
is ready to pick up on the way home.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
I am having a day, boys.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
And girls, those aren't gonna fit all right, all right,
exactly seventy degrees shores of Lake Washington, Rob Rang, Dick Faine,
Hugh Melling, We're all here. The ramsh just drafted a
tight end for Matt Stafford and then maybe down the
road for Ty Simpson at sixty one. Max Claire out
of Ohio State just went to the Rams at sixty one.
Anthony Hill Junior, his parties call him Tony, Texas linebacker

(00:59):
went to the Titans at numb sixty and then Marlon Kleine.
You don't see a lot of guys named Marlin anymore.
Fifty ninth overall to Houston from Michigan. Emmanuel McNeil. We
I've warned the safety from Toledo working backwards. Went to
the Browns after a trade with the Niners at fifty eight,
So that puts the Broncos now on the clock at

(01:19):
sixty two. The Chargers, I've made a trade with the Patriots,
they're drafting at sixty three and the Hawks at sixty four.
So let's just go round the room. Rob rang Is
with us, Hugh Milling with us. Here will start with
you as always, what are you looking for? If you're
John Schneider right now?

Speaker 6 (01:34):
Yeah, I don't know the names the players at this juncture,
but I would say a position in the corner Ed's
rusher would be, you know, one A one B right
and certainly offensive guard for me is always going to
be loomy.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, well, pregnant, I mean your three picks away from
maybe landing a manual pregnant. So let's live in a
world where Emmanuel Pregnan's there. Aj Halsey from LSU you
mentioned him as there. You still got the kid Jermatt McCoy,
which again there might be a major red flag medical
on this, dude, but who are you hoping?

Speaker 3 (02:14):
The fan in you right, the fan and Rob rang
is hoping who falls to sixty four?

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Uh?

Speaker 7 (02:20):
Well, I would be considering another safety, actually, Keyonte Scott
from Miami, all right, just because he's another one that
his positional versatility. He's played corner, he's played linebacker, he's
played safety, he's played nickel. Well, he was a punt
returner the way back in his Auburn days. So I
mean he is a guy that has the versatility that
appeals to the Seahawks. And then as far as just

(02:42):
you know, kind of giving some names to what Hugh
just mentioned to me, the edge rusher that makes an
awful lot of sense is Kiroon Crawford with a tip
of the captain Jay sham Barram from Michigan. You know,
Kiroon Crawford is just a still a still a pop.
I mean, he's just a because he played basketball all
throughout his his prep career and then switched to football late,

(03:04):
you know, before he went to Auburn. You just see
the twitch with him, and so I do think that
that is something that the Seahawks are going to prioritize.
And then of all those corners again, jermal McCoy come
off with the injury, Keith Abney, Malik mcd Milik Muhammad,
and David agminoson. Because of the depth the you've got
four corners, and I think there's a lot of good
corners that are gonna go into the third round. You know,

(03:26):
I can't Jadon Kennedy from Oregon to Carlo Davis from Washington.
I think the corner depth is good enough. Maybe you
go with the edge rusher or the safety at this point,
but again, I wouldn't be surprised at all with the corner.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
That seems like a John Schneider.

Speaker 8 (03:41):
Pick at an edge guy that played football and he's
got ceiling. I can see the ceiling, but he started
playing football late and and he could turn out to
be a first round edge.

Speaker 9 (03:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (03:50):
If I had to like put five bucks on the
line right here, Keiroon crawfordould be my slege.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
Can you do that?

Speaker 6 (03:54):
I can go to Kelsey right now.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
John Schneider or a Pete Carroll type of player.

Speaker 7 (03:58):
And that's a good question.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
That's a good question because you know, Rieke Wolan, who
was the kid from Buffalo, the defensive tackle that we drafted.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
What the hell was his name? Buffalo?

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yeah, from the University of Buffalo that we drafted, uh
was his name? He barely played. He was an offensive
lineman that Christian for him. I mean, we've had guys
the tight end that we drafted. Obviously, there's been a
was that a Pete thing?

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Or was that a John thing?

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Here?

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Taking projects guys that couldn't even say football and turning
him into.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Supposed I think they wasay, was it okay?

Speaker 4 (04:37):
Yeah? Okay, I think that Yeah.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
He he kind of wanted to, you know, reinvent the wheel.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
It's like, no, there was a tight end.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Who was the tight end that we drafted to back
in the day that that that didn't play any He
was a basketball player. Come on, you guys know what
I'm talking about. The tight end that we played back
George Fant George fan right, but he played like one
year of football. He was a basketball guy. I was
Western Kentucky rights and then he had tackle and right.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
But I'm just saying that we that's what I'm saying.
It's a Pete Carroll. It might be a Pete Carroll.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
That was Tom Cable, the offensive line coach. Yes he was, Yes,
he was. But we had some other guys too. But
I don't know, man, I just think that this is
one of those situations where we're gonna really find out
a lot about a kid like a Jermald McCoy, because
he is clearly talent wise, right rob without the knee injury,
he's you said, maybe top half of the first round

(05:30):
cornerback without the medical. If they pass on him here,
we know that it's the medical.

Speaker 7 (05:34):
Well, the fact that he's available at this point, it's
the medical. And that's the thing is Seattle has been
willing to take players that have some injury risk to them. Obviously,
you know Roddy Mills just a year ago, you know.
But at the same time, obviously they felt very comfortable
with with Riley Mills with medical voltage and that was
the fifth.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Round, yeah, the second Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
But I would think that there's a difference between coming
off of an injury where you'd expect, with modern medicine
and training that you would improve and get back to
pattern near where you were. But if there's a degenerative
condition correct, correct, then and you say, hey, this guy's,
you know, gonna poop out at four years or something.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Forget.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Let me just update you guys, because the Bills just
moved into that second to third to last slot. I'm
going to try to pronounce this guy's name right. If
I don't, I'm sure Rob will correct me. Davison Igbinosen,
Ohio State Corner.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Is that right? Just went to Buffalo at sixty two?
So Hawks are two picks?

Speaker 4 (06:29):
All?

Speaker 8 (06:30):
What's fascinating to watch this seat? You could actually wager
on whether you think Seattle's going to drive Jermam McCoy.
It was as high as as a two to one shot.
Just now it's at three. It's it's moving as we speak,
and now it's it's actually gone down to three to
one right now, but still a reasonable percentage.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
They think that Seattle would take.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Him, Well, I mean, you're the scout. What do you
know about his knee?

Speaker 7 (06:51):
Well that I don't know, you know the medical That's
the thing is, I know.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
You're not thinking CFL for this guy. Well we'll say,
I mean, actually my turn out that way.

Speaker 7 (07:01):
I now he's uh, I know that, as you mentioned before,
he missed the entire twenty twenty five season with a
knee injury. Then he comes back and wasn't able to
work out the combine, which is the first red flag.
I mean, if you're gonna miss the entire season, then hey,
just prep for the workout, doesn't work out the combine,
goes to his prode and does work out. But then
when they had the medical rechecks another couple of weeks

(07:22):
later in Indianapolis, obviously NFL teams did not get the
feedback that they were hoping for. And so that's the
extent of what I know about.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
But he moved well at his pro he did did
he run four to four?

Speaker 6 (07:34):
Yeah, It's not uncommon to just say, hey, a couple
extra weeks isn't gonna hurt, right, Yeah, I mean everybody
is going to get the information they want at the
pro day and I'll do all that.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
So right, that's it's I agree with you. It is.

Speaker 6 (07:51):
It's a little bit illuminating because if you thought he
was one hundred percent, then he would have been ear
marking for the combine. But but it's I don't think
it's a deal breaker to say that you wait for
the pro dame. The problem would be again, these these
surfaced reports of the degenerative condition.

Speaker 8 (08:10):
That word right there, yes all, and that must be
in the last twenty wouldn't have been six to ninth overall, Hawks.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Are two picks away, Chargers around the clock right now
at sixty three. Hawks are up next at sixty four.
And just kind of an update on kind of where
the Hawks are with some of their depth. I mean,
the three positions we've been kicking around the most today
at this point are guard with Anthony Bradford and they
got obviously Christian Haynes sitting there, Cable Dooe sitting there.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Obviously.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
That's about it as far as depth for the Seahawks
go as far as the edge rushers, to replace a
guy like a boy A Mafe, Jared Ivy, Mike Morris,
Jamie Sheriff.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
You know.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Rodley Mills obviously is more of.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
A defensive tackle I think than a maybe an edge guy,
but he's available for the Hawks. Corners Uh noah uh
igbanoghany Iggy who was their biggest ticket free agent signing.
As far as street guys, uh, they didn't spend any
more money on anybody besides him. Rodney Thomas is more
of a free safety. Uh aj Finley is a strong safety.

(09:17):
Uh you know, uh the Schamar John Gene Charles uh
is there at corner.

Speaker 9 (09:23):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
So they've got some guys that me and my preachet.
So what do we make of the depth overall those
spots that.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
We're that we're talking about.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Well, if you mentioned they like a guy, what about
you liking a guy?

Speaker 9 (09:33):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (09:33):
Well, I haven't seen enough of Pretcher to make me
feel like, like, you know, you just plug him into
the spot that Rek wooland Vacate.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Hawk's are on the clock right now.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
By the way, Chargers just took a center Jake Slaughter
from Florida.

Speaker 6 (09:47):
Yeah all right, Yeah, so I would I would say
they're fine in their nickel packets, which is their their
number one in the NFL in the use of nickels.
Seattle see ours that obviously includes Nick and Warre as
a safety, Devin Witherspoon, and you have Josh Job, I
think as presently constituted in that.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Package, their number one package. The package.

Speaker 6 (10:11):
If you're an NFL team going against Seattle's defense, the
least capable of the starters out of eleven starters on
the defense is Josh Job. You're going after Josh Job.
When they go dime, which seattle Again. They increased their
use of the dime. The first eight games they played
average two and a half plays per game of dime.

(10:33):
Over thet from week ten and beyond, they then went
to eighteen snaps per game. They had thirty six snaps
in the Super Bowl of dime. What was the dime configuration? Well,
on the too high structure, you got Julian Love as
a safety, Kobe Bryant, Kobe Bryant's gone the corners, you

(10:56):
had Josh job and Rik Woollen, then Apex defenders Emmanuel
on one side and Witherspoon who had dropped in from
corner on the other.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
So in that dime.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
Configuration, of which there were thirty six snaps in the
Super Bowl, Riek Wollen is not in that. So if
you had to play tomorrow and you had to play
the Patriots and he wanted to play thirty six snaps.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
Of dime, who's the dude? Me and I preach it.

Speaker 6 (11:26):
So if this is going to tell you at some
point through this process, not necessarily in the next five minutes,
but over the next two days, you know, next, within
the next.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Next we're going to learn how much they feel about.

Speaker 6 (11:42):
I preach it just by indirectly, you know, inferring from
their decisions.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Right by the way, ESPN is reporting that the Seahawks
pick is in, so they are not trading this pick
apparently at number sixty four. There will be a selection
here at sixty four.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
If the trades have we had even in the second.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Well, there's there's been a few. I mean, there's been
a bunch of teams moving around. Yeah, the big ones,
the Grenard trade, the Vikings sending him to Philadelphia. But
you're talking about trades in the draft. I'm just looking
at there's been one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve,
thirteen so far in round number one. Some of those
were made yesterday, by the way, but there's been thirteen

(12:19):
trades in round number one. So we're gonna get the
Seahawks pick here at number sixty four. You mentioned a
couple edge rushers, you mentioned a couple of safeties. Rob
rang with us. For those tinting in right now, who
would be your pick right now at sixty four?

Speaker 7 (12:32):
Well, I mentioned Keiroan Crawford. I mentioned Malik Muhammad when
we talked to you a little bit about the safeties. Again,
if you want to go with a guy like aj Halsey,
you know, mister, gimme that. Then you know, there's other
safeties out there that have ball skills that also would
make some sense. TCUs. Bud Clark would make a lot
of sense just because again he's got the ball skills,

(12:52):
the speed that you're looking for. So he would be
another one. Yea, you know again, the corner safety, edge rusher.
I'd be stunded if it's not one of those. Well,
let's position.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
We're gonna find out in just a second.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Here Seahawks taking Jendarian Price obviously yesterday with their first
pick at number thirty two.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
I believe we.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Are getting close to finding out who the Seahawks will take.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Now at number.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Sixty four, Let's go to Cliff April in Pittsburgh with
the Hawks pick at sixty four. Thanks First, let's ralf
LP round two with the Seahawks in their selection.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
What up twelve?

Speaker 10 (13:32):
Yeah, with the sixty fourth pick in the twenty twenty
sixth NFL Draft, the World Tens Seattle Seahawks select Bud Clark.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Dv TCU Clark. Is he a safety? Rob Bud Clark?
All right?

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Bud Clark is the pick out of Texas Christian University. Again,
we had some maybe bigger names on the board, maybe
some first round potential eyes that were getting mocked the
first round, but Bud Clark at a Texas Christian University,
our old buddy Cliff Faver there making the selection.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Six foot seven eighths a buck eighty eight.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Ran a four to four to one forty at the
combine thirty eight inch vertical jump. This is a guy
that in twenty twenty five was second team All Big Twelve,
eleven starts, fifty six tackles, had four picks, including one
of them as a pick six, and has been at
TCU I believe since twenty twenty. He missed the entire

(14:31):
two thousand and one season with an injury, but bounced
back to be second team All Big Twelve his last
two years at TCU For Sunny Dykes, Bud Clark is
the selection here for the Hawks at sixty four. You
just mentioned his name Rob a couple seconds ago, and
now he's the guy.

Speaker 9 (14:48):
Well.

Speaker 7 (14:49):
The thing is, one of the things we know about
John Schneider is that when the comes to the Senior Bowl,
I mean, if you stand out the Senior Bowl. Then
that is obviously something that Seattle priory ties as we've
seen that over and over again. And in my opinion,
Bud Clark was the best playmaking defensive back at the
Senior Bowl bar Nunn. I mean, he was spectacler. They

(15:11):
asked him to drop down and play that nickel cornerback
spot and he was able to do that. You'll watch
the tape and he just makes some unbelievable interceptions. He's
got length, he's got speed, he's got instincts. The only
thing that scares you a little bit. One hundred and
eighty eight pounds. There's not a lot of safeties in
the NFL that was long and lean as he is.
But you know, the proof is in the pudding, is

(15:33):
often like to say. And the guy has been durable
for the most part. You mentioned the fact they missed it,
missed the season, but he has been durable other than that,
and he is an absolute playmaker. Considering the rest of
this defense, I think that he is one of those
guys can play over the top and steal the ball
when he's trying to go deep.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Well, he was a safety.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
He's got ten picks in three years for TCU playing
for Sunny Dyke's Bud Clark.

Speaker 6 (15:55):
What do you think, Well, I haven't studied him, and
I'm gonna start watching game tape immediately t c A
TCU exact same coaches tape. I will speak to the
pick one thing that that gets my tensions. One hundred
and eighty eight pounds and he played more as a

(16:16):
box safety than he played in the back end Kobe Bryant.
You know this, this in theory would be the replacement
for Kobe Bryant, right right, you know, you know, or
maybe they feel like they want maybe they feel like
they don't want to have Devin Witherspoon as the overhang
in the in the in the dome, and that they

(16:37):
want to leave Witherspoon out at corner. And this guy
could be uh down in the box. You know at
one hundred and eighty eight, he would he would he
would fit more than you know, you know, he's not
going to be a thumper at one eight eight. But
remember Kobe Bryant was a converted corner right and and
so he held he had adequate physicality. But you know,

(17:01):
I'm just I'm just you know, I'm not gonna talk
prematurely because I haven't studied the dude, right, But I'm
just talking in terms of, okay, philosophy, Why did safety
become more important?

Speaker 4 (17:14):
How are they going to use him? Those type of questions.

Speaker 8 (17:16):
One little nugget here, and you can take this as
a positive or a negative. It's positive because it's experienced,
negative because it's age. He will be twenty five years
old next week.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
He played six years in couge, six years in college.

Speaker 8 (17:28):
So the naysayers would be like, oh my god, I
mean he's going to be old in three years. The
proponents would be, what way to say? I mean, he's
played six years in college. He is ready to play
NFL football right now?

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (17:40):
No, It's interesting that has been something that they have
kind of gone away from in the past, is older players.
You know, that's literally been one of the kind of
filters I've used to, you know, try to figure out
who Seattle might prioritize. It was honestly when we were
first started talking about some of the safeties and I
first mentioned, you know, some of those those other guys.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
I mean A. J.

Speaker 7 (18:01):
Halsey is another player who has played for an awful
long time. Uh, and so I was kind of leaning
more on these young corners Keith Abney, uh, you know,
from Arizona State, who's only played college ball for for
three years, for example, but he doesn't have the size,
and so I was kind of thinking that they might
be a little bit more willing to, uh, you know,

(18:21):
to look past size for youth. Clearly they decide to
go with the other direction, but I understand it when
you have a guy that has the ball skills this
kid has.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Well, we mentioned Emmanuel pregnant two at guard. Is this
just another example of how they really truly feel about
Anthony Bradford behind closed doors here at the Virginia Mason Atletic.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
What cable do.

Speaker 7 (18:40):
I think that they are very intrigued by cable do
as well?

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Yeah, well let's do this.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
When we let's do this, well, we'll take a break,
which is a break so that Hugh can watch tape
on this kid. We'll come back and we'll get an
immediate reaction. This is amazing. Nobody else in the city
can do this. We're gonna take a quick break and
then Hugh Millin gonna come back and give you instant
analysis on what he sees.

Speaker 8 (19:03):
From he's gonna watch every game from the last six
years of Budd Clark.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
Yes, will you will?

Speaker 2 (19:08):
All right, There's only one man that can do it,
and it's Hugh milling Next on ninety three three kJ RFM.
Seahawks have drafted Bud Clark's safety at a Texas Christian
University at number sixty four or the back end of
the second round, and he is now visiting with the
media here at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
Let's listen in.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
How would you describe your game to fans?

Speaker 9 (19:31):
I feel like I'm burst time.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
I'm a ball.

Speaker 9 (19:33):
You know, I'm getting to the ball every chance I get.
I compete. I'm a compete, competitor always.

Speaker 11 (19:38):
What positions have you played throughout your career?

Speaker 9 (19:42):
I play safety, nickel corner Before.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Did the Seahawks talk to you at all about what
they envisioned for you in Mike McDonald's defense or.

Speaker 5 (19:51):
Is this gonna be a case where you would play
multiple spots?

Speaker 9 (19:54):
It's it's pretty much I could play multiple spots, but
you know, I'm leaving up to them because you know,
I'm trying to play everything they want me to play.

Speaker 6 (20:00):
Really, just what what's the feeling about joining this defense
and just won a Super Bowl and in a defensive
head coach like McDonald's.

Speaker 9 (20:08):
Man, I feel like it's a lot of shoes to feel,
But I honestly feel like a feel little shoes and
make them bigger. So you know, that's what I'm trying
to do, especially being on McDonald. You know, that's the best.
I feel like that's the best defensive coach in the NFL.
Why not? What?

Speaker 11 (20:20):
What do you love about the CRS defense?

Speaker 9 (20:23):
Everything? Everything about them. I feel like they're explosively, very
very energetic, and that I feel like they fished my
plate when.

Speaker 11 (20:29):
You got the call, Uh, describe what it felt.

Speaker 9 (20:32):
Like, honest First, first, my heart dropped my butt, you know, honestly,
But you know, I feel like, man, it was a
it was a dream come true, dreams coming to reality.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
You stayed six.

Speaker 11 (20:43):
Years at TCU.

Speaker 7 (20:44):
Was there ever any with just with the way things
are these days, any any temptation.

Speaker 11 (20:48):
Ever to leave there with the NFL earlier or anything?

Speaker 9 (20:50):
Or uh, you know, I was gonna go to the NFL.
But also I also I took it because the Lord
gave me another year, So why not take it?

Speaker 11 (20:57):
What skill set you need to be a hammer not
to nail when playing.

Speaker 9 (21:02):
Oh, you gotta have the mid times. You gotta have
a lot of grit to. You gotta have a lot
of a lot of discipline, got a lot of want to.

Speaker 11 (21:08):
Is there a story about having the nickname bud Nah?

Speaker 9 (21:11):
My grandfa caught me busins. I was a kid and
I always went by, what what's your birthday?

Speaker 4 (21:17):
May third?

Speaker 9 (21:18):
Coming right up? I'm on the way.

Speaker 11 (21:20):
No, sorry, your your birth your.

Speaker 9 (21:25):
Oh I think you said my birthday? Sorry? Oh, Jadirius?

Speaker 5 (21:29):
Did you might see all that for us?

Speaker 9 (21:32):
Yeah? J A D A R I U S.

Speaker 11 (21:37):
What's being a dad taught you?

Speaker 9 (21:38):
Bud uh? Pretty much? Being patient man? And there's a
lot more to life, you know, Like uh, you know,
I always wanted to go out and do different things,
but I feel like being able to come home with
my family is absolutely the best thing in the world. Honestly,
What what was that like? Made you?

Speaker 11 (21:52):
Big time college football?

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Which is about an eighty hour week job, staying academic,
you go and raising a young boy?

Speaker 9 (21:59):
I feel like you he was pretty It was. It
was hard at first, but I have a great fiance,
so she helped me through it all. Really, she made
everything easy on. Uh at home. Honestly, you were a
three time team captain there. Uh it meant a lie.
I felt like I felt like my peers they looked
up to me.

Speaker 11 (22:16):
You know.

Speaker 9 (22:17):
I feel like I was approachable for everybody. You know,
I tried to. I tried to get to know everybody,
know everybody's why, just to understand who you want as
a person. And I taught you by your name, not
by anything else.

Speaker 7 (22:25):
But what are you looking forward to getting the opportunity
to play with.

Speaker 8 (22:29):
Devin Witherspoon, Julian Love, Nick even Rory, all the standout
players in.

Speaker 9 (22:32):
This secondary Man, I feel like it's a blessing dream
comes to Like I said, you know, I get to
help them boys in every way that I can.

Speaker 11 (22:41):
Where did you watch the Super Bowl? The Seahawks Patriots
watched it.

Speaker 9 (22:45):
I was at home. I was in Louisiana. Exactly why
I met get this call.

Speaker 11 (22:49):
You're at your family home or you at a party.

Speaker 9 (22:51):
I'm at my family's house right now. Well, this is
my mom's house.

Speaker 11 (22:54):
What's the city's at.

Speaker 9 (22:57):
Alexandria, Louisiana?

Speaker 11 (23:00):
You or your fiance ever been to Seattle in the Northwest.

Speaker 9 (23:03):
I only came to Seattle for that for the one
visit that I had. That's my first time, but it
was it was absolutely beautiful. And I went home and
I was telling her about the whole time.

Speaker 11 (23:13):
What's the game of foot ball mean to you?

Speaker 9 (23:16):
It's been a lot, honestly, you know, his life changing.
But it also helps me to walk and show people
from my city's different things that they can do. Any
way you can make it.

Speaker 5 (23:25):
Where like around Where did you think you would go.

Speaker 9 (23:28):
In the draft? Honestly, like I wasn't. I didn't have
any like any I don't know, Honestly, I didn't know where,
any idea at all. I appreciate you so much.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (23:44):
Hey, Bud, I'm gonna we're gonna say, all right, there
you go.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
That is Jadarius bud Clark, who was the newest member
of the Seahawks secondary out of Texas Christian drafted sixty
fourth overall. I played six years at TC, had some injuries,
obviously began playing during the COVID year of twenty twenty
and then was able to pop and become a second

(24:09):
team All Big Twelve player for two years in a row.
In twenty twenty four twenty twenty five, the defensive coordinator
by the way, and just looking this up at TCU
is a guy named Andy Avallois.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
We know that name obviously.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Sonny Dike's the head coach, and I believe Trey Watson
is their passing game coordinator as well down there on defense.
So some names of guys that we've known for a while,
but you've been watching some tape on this kid, Hugh
the last couple of minutes. Bud Clark safety, he's a father,
he's got a young son. He's now a member of

(24:43):
the Seahawks secondary. What do you think, Well, I'm watching
the USC game and I see a guy. First thing
you see, you know his frame, as we said, one
hundred and eighty eight pounds. You know, he's got a
lean frame for sure. I think he's got quick feet.
His change of directions good. There's a there's a couple
of plays where I thought I could expect more physicality.

(25:06):
Kind of got semi truck by.

Speaker 6 (25:08):
A running back in the middle of the field, and
then and then a safety caught a ball on a seam,
and I was hoping for a little bit more physicality
on that.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
Look, this is all I got to go by.

Speaker 6 (25:20):
Now he had to play down in the red zone
where they actually targeted him a couple of times decent coverage.
He had one where he kind of stumbled in the
middle of the field but then made a good recovery
and got a pass breakup. So I would I would say,
I'm still kind of wondering what their vision for him is,

(25:40):
Dick Dave in terms of if you draft us, if
you told me they're going to draft a safety with
the second round pick after having gone offense, so this
is the number one defensive player that they've got, I
would say, well, they have an eye to replace Kobe
Bryant and you know Okata, they believe in him, but

(26:01):
you know, they want the competition for that position that
that that's you know, Julian Love and then and then
you want the versatility. So I think his versatility is
absolutely uh a factor here and they I'm sure I
haven't seen him in a lot of man to man
situations in cover one, but I think that that they
they're gonna just watching his feet and how he moves

(26:22):
that he's going to be, you know, relatively good in
one on one.

Speaker 8 (26:26):
That's the exciting part to me is the ability he's
played safety he's played corner, he's played nickel, and and
you know, just taking a glance at him here, if
you would have just I just saw the first five
seconds of tape that you were looking at, and if
I just saw five seconds and then you paused it
and you said, body style, what position.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
Does that guy play?

Speaker 8 (26:44):
He looks like an outside cornerback. Yeah, I mean that's
what that's what he looks like. Long, by the way,
he looks pretty long and lanky, just doesn't have a
lot of ERTs going.

Speaker 6 (26:53):
Well, let's let's see his carol reach percentile and height
with again the hundredth being max. He's fifty ninth percentile
in height. He's second percentile in weight for second safeties. Okay,
so when we say one eighty eight gets it. And yeah,
the very first thing that you see when when you look,

(27:16):
you say, whoa, that's a thin frame. So repeat, second
percentile not not And and the first isn't the best,
you know, and I'm not saying best, I should say
heaviest armlan forty sixth percentile, hand size twenty third, a
ten yard split fifty first percentage. All right, here, here's
two things that that you love. Forty yard dash. He

(27:39):
ran a four to four one ninetieth percentile for safeties
and then his vert of thirty eight inches is seventy
ninth percentile. So they're in there in lies the athletics
as in pros, you're getting eighty six. You're getting a
you know, a guy with above average length with with

(28:01):
very good feet, and and then his long speed is
sensational and it is for to go up and make
plays on the ball. Is also uh close to.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Say, well, as you said earlier in theory, this is
the replacement for Kobe Bryant.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
So well here from McDonald and Schneider on this later.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
By the way, the third rund is underway and the
Cardinals kicked off round three by drafting Carson.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
Beck out of Miami quarterback.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
They got Jakobe, they got Gardner Minshew, they got Keton Slovas,
and now they have Carson Beck.

Speaker 8 (28:33):
Isn't this great news for us as Seahawk fans that
now we have we have teams that are legitimately thinking
Ty Simpson and Carson Beck are their quarterbacks for the
future in our division.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Well potentially, I mean they both may be really good players.
I mean, Russell Wilson was the seventy fifth player taken over.

Speaker 5 (28:48):
All right, and remember what everybody said about this quarterback.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Right, yeah, well that's what they're saying. I mean, who knows, Yeah, right, yeah,
the hell.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
I mean, I think the Rams are pretty damn good
even without I mean, here's the point of the Rams.
The Rams I thought got a lot better over the offseason.
Of course with Trey McDuffie and Jalen Watson. The point
is they could have gotten even more better in the draft,
and they didn't do that. They took Tys Simpson. So
we'll see, all right, I know, you gotta run. We're
gonna break Ian Ferness. We'll maybe try and grab him,
get his thoughts on what he's seen so far. Jadarian

(29:18):
Price yesterday had a Notre Dame running back, Bud Clark got.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
A TCU safety today.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Hawks are next up at number ninety six at the
end of the third round that will be coming later tonight.
We're gonna break, come back and wrap up our portion
of the broadcast day from the Draft right here on
ninety three to three KJRFM.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Now back to the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, presented
by Frost Bruin Coorslott Gold is the Rookies and brought
to you by Dino's Pulbin. Written on Sports Radio ninety
three point three KJR FM.

Speaker 11 (29:54):
With the sixty fourth Pig.

Speaker 10 (29:55):
In the twenty twenty six INFO Draft, the World Chance,
Seattle Seahawks select Bud Clark dB TCU.

Speaker 9 (30:05):
I'm birth tied on a ball, hog. You know, I'm
getting to the ball every chance I get. I compete.
I'm a compete competitor always. I play safety, nickel, and
corner before pretty much I can play ultiple spots. But
you know what I'm leaving up to now because you know,
I'm trying to play everything they want me to play.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Really all right?

Speaker 2 (30:21):
That is the voice of Bud Clark, who the Seahawks
just drafted at number sixty four, last pick of the
second round today, visiting just briefly there with the assembled
media here in Seattle.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
Jendarius Bud Clark.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
He'll be twenty four, not twenty five, by the way here,
just to correct something from earlier. He'll be twenty four
on the third of May. Safety for Texas. Christian says,
he's played corner, he's played nickel, He's played safety, obviously
at TCU six foot seven eighths a buck eighty eight
thirty one and a half inch arm length. By the way,
at the combine, we're in a four to four one

(30:57):
thirty eight inch vert played six years TCU after some injuries,
and the last two years combined he had a second
team All Big twelve season, ten interceptions his last three
years at Texas Christian University. And he's now a Seahawk.
And you've been watching tape on this guy, as as

(31:18):
has Ian Furnest. I will watch and now we get
to see who broke it down. I I haven't watched
the second or Hugh mill all right, what did you
think of his play, especially in the hook zone area?

Speaker 5 (31:30):
Yeah, I thought it could use some work, To be
honest with you, I saw at first step.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
Not great about outside the hashes.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
Oh you're stational, yeah, sensational.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
See, we are learning some stuff from you, by the way, No,
I learned a lot last night.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
Actually I did you.

Speaker 5 (31:43):
I got a whole tutorial on armley last night.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
You mean you hold your arm out? Whoever's longer wins?

Speaker 4 (31:49):
Did I not get?

Speaker 5 (31:49):
Do we not break that down?

Speaker 9 (31:51):
Now?

Speaker 4 (31:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (31:51):
Keefer, we had a breakdown last night at dinos in.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
Regards to Lineman. By the way, we're talking about hours. Okay,
did you know he was conducting? Yeah, it was like
one inch makes them difference of your whole life. Yeah,
my wife calls me that every night. Every night I
got a new series. They ain't gonna do it well.
Arm length thirty one and a half. There used to

(32:16):
be a day and age around here. I don't know
if this was applying to safeties or just corners where
they went touch at dB with under thirty two inch
charms wasn't Yeah, because those days there the last couple
of years, that train has been grinding to a halt.
So but before you give us your thoughts, you've been
watching more tape on the guy.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
What do you think?

Speaker 6 (32:33):
Yeah, I think he's more athlete flu there's a fluidity
to him and and there's a range you know, he's
there's a definite.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
Lack of physicality that comes you know.

Speaker 6 (32:46):
Now, I mean by Monday, I will have seen every
play and all either a firm or con you know,
or reset that, but redress that. But right now the
tape I've seen, I'm watching the cover one reel now,
so we're filtering into just man to man. I'm evaluating

(33:07):
his man and man cover skills and so so I
think he just he's a corner back type safety.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Does that make sense?

Speaker 6 (33:15):
He's he's a safety who's whose profile fits more like
a corner. But you know what what we just say
about Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant was Thorp Award winner at
Cincinnati Sauce Gardner opposite Sauce Garden. Think about the game
plan he said, well, we're not throwing at Sauce Gardner,
Let's throw at Kobe Bryant. Well, that did just enough
for opponents to get him the Jim Thorpe Award as

(33:35):
the best defensive back in college.

Speaker 5 (33:37):
And then he gets yeah, and then he gets and
then he gets converted here to a safety, right, and
plays well well enough to get himself a nice con.

Speaker 4 (33:43):
Well, he was, and he was a nickel and it
took a while.

Speaker 5 (33:47):
Rookie year, he was a nickel exclusively, right, Kobe, And
then yeah, the transition.

Speaker 6 (33:52):
Yeah, and they never really they really never played him
at corner. And then he and then Mike moved him back.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
This is one of those ones that I'm very curious
when John and Mike sit down like what they say,
like like what do they what are they envision? Yeah,
you know how forthcoming will they be? I don't know,
but I mean what do they see in him? Because
he feels like the ultimate hybrid right right is a DV.
Like he's just like I don't want to say positionless

(34:21):
because that's kind of an insult, but he just feels
like where is this guy gonna fit? Yeah, and let's
just go back to what you always say and what
he just said about a moment ago is he's playing
for Mike McDonald, right, Like, if there's a guy that
if the guy that the mad scientist, that is my McDonald,
what's he doing right now?

Speaker 4 (34:37):
Listen? He sees something.

Speaker 5 (34:38):
There's a vision there, right, people.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Should be lining up to play for this guy.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
By the way, the Bengals just took to Carrio Davis
at number seventy two overall.

Speaker 6 (34:45):
So he's on the board. Well, he gets the that
we're not worthy. You know when when he comes in
if he says he's got a plan for this kid.

Speaker 5 (34:53):
Well like like isn't this like a this is probably
like right up his alley, Like he sees something. Just
I'm just basing it on the fact that McDonald has
no doubt whatever he sees. Yeah, we're probably not. Well,
who would he be in Baltimore? Who would he be
with the Ravens that he had with Baltimore?

Speaker 2 (35:08):
I mean, well, that's the thing to go back and
look at, because we've looked at defensive ends, we've looked
at corners, safeties. Who would be the guy that played
for Mike McDonald in Baltimore that potentially.

Speaker 6 (35:20):
I don't have an answer. Yes, Josh Hamilton is a
is a unicorn. You know, to me, are they going
to have him in the back end? You know that's
where he played most. How concerning is the weight?

Speaker 4 (35:41):
I think it's very concerning.

Speaker 6 (35:42):
Yeah, well he's in the second percent time.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
What should he weigh? What should he weigh? He should
be two five at that height, so he's.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
Way under then even five.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
You know, you don't get into like thumper category until
you're over to ten.

Speaker 5 (36:01):
I did thought it was funny when he when Cam
Chancellor's name was mentioned, right, because it's like it was
he had a profile somewhere Old Bud did like he like,
I pottered myself after after Cam, which is which is great.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
I mean I pottered my pattered myself after the sat Bolt.

Speaker 5 (36:16):
Yeah, I mean I like to think of myself as
Robert Redford. There's a lot of things get better.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
Maybe maybe well, yeah, Kareem or Cream, the kid from
Saint Louis right, a white kid. Maybe that's just the
way he wants to play, is what he's talking about.

Speaker 5 (36:34):
But you didn't see that on tape, right, I have
not seen that on tape.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Well, he wants to that's the key. He wants to.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
He wants to play like But like you said, man,
I mean this is a we just got done talking
about less Need and Sean McVeigh and how much McVeigh
was or was not involved in the Ty.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Simpson trade or draft pick.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
Do we believe that John Schneider just drafted this guy
from McDonald without his input?

Speaker 5 (36:57):
No, of course, not the opposite. I think the opposite.
I think this is McDonald.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Yeah, Mike said you, Mike told John you stay at Dino's.
All right, I'm taking I'm taking this kid. So again,
I I'm insanely curious. Now, aren't you to hear what
Mike says about.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
I think he's gonna say that he sees enough.

Speaker 6 (37:15):
You know, they're never gonna say this is exactly if
they you ven diagram them over Kobe Bryant. I think
there's there's a sufficient number of traits that you'd say
we we put him in a competitive situation. Julia on
Love is a lock. Tyokotta comes in and then this
kid's gonna compete with Tyo Cotta. Right, they got a
g Finley, right, and then who is by the way, No,

(37:39):
he's six two yeah, right, two fifteen. That's a good point.
I so you have there's some uh shouting, But but
Finley has the profile to be you know that for me.

Speaker 5 (37:54):
Or physically he was injured and on the injured list
all year Finland.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
He played like oh no, that's right.

Speaker 5 (37:59):
He's fifty five snaps heard the start of the year
this year on the varsity.

Speaker 4 (38:04):
But he was hurt. Yeah he was season but they
but they they like him a lot.

Speaker 6 (38:08):
So I mean that's the the first safety they would
mention of the guys that you know, we we don't
talk about, like I said, where we've seen just a
glimpse of him, right, but they think Pritchett and Finley
would be two guys.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
That yeah, And I think that's always telling when they
do like they did their thing on Monday, and that
was a name they brought up a couple of times.
And when they bring up names, you know, they bring
up names all the time, and over the years they
have you know, I mean, Cody White's a guy they
brought up, just for example, a lot of times. He
keeps getting signed. There's guys that they like in the
system that we don't see necessarily a lot on the field.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Finley is that guy.

Speaker 5 (38:42):
But I mean, you're spending a second round pick on
this guy you're expecting to step in and play.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Absolutely right, No, this is a this is a starting
caliber player kind of guy for it. If you're taking
from where before, I mean where where Kobe Bryant played
last year. I mean, again, you know your point earlier
that this is kind of this is the placement right
for for for this guy. Potentially we'll see how they're
planning on using him. But I mean the guys at
the Seahawks have drafted in the second round. I mean

(39:07):
obviously even Warrior Royo a year ago, uh twenty three,
it was Derek Hall and Sharboney who both played Sharbonne,
Kenny Walker, boy A, Mafey d Eskridge, Darryl Taylor, Marquise Blair,
DK Metcalf. I mean these are all uh posts. Malik
McDowell your favorite player of all time?

Speaker 5 (39:27):
Hughes, Sharon Reid, what's your favorite moment mcdeal's.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
When they drafted him and he had an aneurysm on
the air because they drafted a guy that people in
Detroit said was a meathead and then he jumped on
an ATV and he was never heard from again. But yeah,
I mean, this is not a this is not a
project this guy. Right, Like we just got done talking
about projects earlier.

Speaker 5 (39:48):
This is not that it's not a project. It's it's
it's probably something that it's an I think it's something
that McDonald's is excited about. And that's again like when
they step up there at about nine o'clock tonight and
and that'll be a question, what do you envision from
this guy? What do you see in this guy? Because listen,
the ball hawking stuff is I think that's significant, right, Like,
I mean he's made a lot of plays, a lot

(40:08):
of interceptions, and you know, I think back to last season,
you know, it feels like Ernest Jones and the D
line had more picks than the dB SA Dons, right,
So you know, maybe they're looking for some sting back
there too.

Speaker 6 (40:20):
Ball hacking is an interesting attribute for either a corner
or a safety because if the difference between a good
ballhwker and a below average ballhwker might be four interceptions
versus one, we're talking about three plays out of the
entire season. Meanwhile, if when I watch Kobe Bryant when

(40:42):
he comes out of the out of depth on a
two high.

Speaker 4 (40:44):
Look, let's say it's what's called the quarters. Football coaches
know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (40:48):
So the safety he's not terribly deep, he's sharing the
middle of the field with another safety. Now he wants
to trigger down the balls past the line of scrimmage.
How fast has he covered?

Speaker 4 (41:00):
What kind of.

Speaker 6 (41:01):
Angles does he take? Does he need to break down?
How efficient of his tackler is he? You know, like
cop and Bryant had a number, I mean a lot
of plays where he comes from depth to make sure
tackles in the flat with an open space. And that's
why the Bears threw twenty five million at him, right,

(41:24):
And so you know I'm gonna keep watching tape. That's
what I would like to see. So sometimes the ball
howking thing. Hey, you know what, the receiver's bad or
excuse me, the receiver or the quarterbacks back.

Speaker 4 (41:39):
You know, you get a little bit lucky there two
or three plays per season.

Speaker 2 (41:43):
Yeah, you know what, Sorry to interrupt your point about
getting all the picks from the front seven. You know
how many returning players in the secondary they have with
more than one pick? Julian last year zero, he had one.
You know what, Kobe Bryant, Kobe Bryant had four, jo
Jail You know what, I'm going to give you every

(42:05):
dollar in my wallet if you can tell me the
answer to this question. Ernest Jones led the team with
picks with five, Kobe Bryant had four. Kobe's now gone,
who was third on the Seahawks, Marcus Lawrence with two,
Darrion Kendrick had two picks and he's now gone as well.
Three of your top four interceptors, if you will, Kobe,

(42:26):
daryonk Will and are all gone. They don't have more
than they don't have one member of their secondary returning
that had multiple.

Speaker 5 (42:34):
Picks playing because Reek was hurt and Joel was hurt.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
Right, But that's that's the point that they don't have.
There's nobody back there.

Speaker 5 (42:41):
Right.

Speaker 4 (42:42):
Look, every everybody wants a ball hawk.

Speaker 6 (42:44):
If you say, hey, this safety, would you rather have
a guy who can go get the ball or who
can't track and get the ball? A thousand out of
a thousand fans, coaches, whatever gonna say, I won't give
me the guy who can get the ball. But the
point that I'm trying to say is that I think
it could be argued it's more important to go get

(43:07):
the ball, not when it's in the air, but when
an opponent has it in space, in the space near you, right,
Because if you have that ability, it's going to show
up six, eight, ten times a game. If you're a ballhawk,
you're only getting.

Speaker 4 (43:24):
Three more picks than a non BALLHWK. Right, that makes sense?

Speaker 5 (43:28):
Right, Yeah, I this is this is just screams of
Mike McDonald. Look at this guy. I can take him,
I can mold him to whatever I have. I'm visioning
something that's you know, I'm in the I'm in the lab.
If we go, there's no way I'm gonna critique this.
There's a guy with a ring that is a defensive genius,
that is going, Yeah, let's go have some fun.

Speaker 2 (43:48):
You know that's actually brings up a great point before
we take off. Here, could you ever imagine your you
take off what I say, we take off?

Speaker 4 (43:57):
We are your solo? Oh no, yeah, no nothing.

Speaker 2 (44:00):
Would you ever imagine ripping a Mike McDonald defensive draft pick?

Speaker 3 (44:04):
No, you know this is ridiculous. This makes no sense
at all.

Speaker 4 (44:09):
What does this guy do is tell the tell the attributes.

Speaker 6 (44:11):
So I'm saying the guy excels in his athleticism, but
he does not excel in physicality. So, Mike McDonald, he
has a perfect image, his his his vision is not fuzzy.

Speaker 4 (44:28):
He has a.

Speaker 6 (44:28):
Crystal clear vision of where and how I want to
exert athleticism and where and how I want to exert
and and produce physicality. So if this dude is relatively
light on physicality, he's going to get it from some
other source, right, And it's because he he needs more

(44:50):
athleticism than physicality from this man.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
Before we take off, just a quick update. First of all,

Third round began when the Cardinals took Carson Beck out
of Miami to maybe be the quarterback of the future
down there, Cardinals with the Cardinals, Yep, they took Carson Beck.
So they got Carson Beck, Jacoby Brissett, Gardner, Minshew all that,
and Drew Aller, who at one point was being talked
about as a first rounder, is now a member of
the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hawks are on the clock here coming

(45:37):
up at the end of the third round at number
ninety six. We are officially twenty picks away from that selection. Okay, quicker, Now, yes,
they're moving fast, all right, So I'm gonna get out
of here, Lark, you're going to stay. Ian Ferness, Hugh
Mel and Rob Rang as well. Correct, We'll take you
