is underway. Seahawks are on the clock at number sixty four.
We are sitting there about eighteen picks away. The latest
selection the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at forty six, taking Josiah
Trotter from Missouri linebacker.

But Denzel Boston, I know he's disappointed he did not
go in the first round, but you saw the emotion
from his family. Coach thirty ninth overall to the Cleveland
Browns and head coach Todd munkin, what do you make
of this fit for Denzel in Cleveland?
Speaker 5 (02:06):
Man, Yeah, I'm fired up. I'm over here with him
right now, and right we were able to celebrate the
pick a bunch of his teammates, myself, coach Cummings and
came to the Forum Social House here in Bellevue and
got to celebrate with him and still are and really
proud of him. Man, just so awesome. I mean, you know,

do you love to go in the first second round?
I would say this. I would say he is the
thirty ninth pick of the draft. That means he's the
thirty ninth best or valued player in the entire world
this year. And I couldn't be prouder of him.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Well, it is a proud day for the head coach,
for the coaching staff and Jed, if you can just
kind of talk about how you balance your message to
your kids, like, Hey, we're going to celebrate you, We're
going to share in this with you. We want you
to be focused on these kind of goals within the
framework of doing.

What's best for the Washington Huskies.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Take us into some depth about how you balance a
night like this and the goal for that with what
you need to accomplish during the regular season with your team.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
Yeah, I think you know, days like today, nice like tonight.
This is about the player. This is about you know,
giving them every every opportunity to enjoy this moment. They
put in a ton of work. You know. We tell
our players all the time, like we're gonna do everything
we can to help you achieve your dream. And if
you achieve your dream, we'll all be celebrating with you.

We wouldn't have won nine games in the Big Pen
last year without Denzel and without what Denzel brought to us,
and Jonah will get drafted and EP and Bobo and
Carver and you know, but we don't win without these guys,
none of us do, you know, Players win games. And
I feel like, you know, if we could continue to
promote our players to become great NFL players, it's drafted.

The higher draft picks we have, the more games we're
gonna win. And if you look at Ohio State, they
had four drafted in this year's draft, and you know
they were sitting there. Won the national championship a year ago,
and another in the top ten and another, uh you know,
semifinals this year. So I think it's a pretty good correlation.
Be great, and uh, you get drafted and we win games.
Speaker 6 (04:19):
Well, coach, we hope to hear the names of both
of your corners going today, hopefully, And as a Seahawks fan,
I'd love to have either one of them. They're patiently
waiting right now. Maybe talk about Ephesians into Carrio and
how each translates to the NFL and and why teams
will be happy taking those guys.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Yeah, I'm feel the same way you do. I'm just
kind of on sitting at the edge of my seat
now hoping that those guys could get taken tonight, and
if they can, that will just be phenomenal. You know,
you've got to six foot three and a half six
foot four corners each capable of running sub four four
five that that correlates well, they got extremely long armed,

that correlate well, They've gotten the ability to cover down
the field and tackle. So those are what people are
looking for. So I really believe that these guys are
both in a great position to get taken either later
today or early tomorrow, and two teams are gonna end
up with two guys that they're they're gonna be really
excited about.

Well, let's go back to Denzel for a second.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Coach Jetfish with us Denzel Boston again going thirty ninth
over all to the Browns. I don't know how much
you know if coach Monkin, you know his offensive system,
what they do out there in Cleveland, and be curious
to get your thoughts on how he fits that offense.
And then look, I mean the good news for Denzel
is that there really isn't much there now. I mean,
it's Harold Fanning, it's Jerry Judy Fanning the tight end,

so he's gonna get targets. But you could also argue
that one of the negatives is there's not much there now, right.
I mean, you go to a team that's got a
lot of talent, maybe you're gonna have a chance to
maybe get open a little bit.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
So what do you make of the roster? What do
you make of the offense that is going to play in?
Speaker 5 (06:02):
Yeah, First of all, I spoke to coach Monkin this morning,
and I know that he was super excited about this
opportunity if it presented, So that was number one. I
know that he really had his eyes set on trying
to get Denzel on his team, which is super cool. Uh,
he's a he's a wide receiver coach at heart. Coach.
Monk was the wide receiver coach at Oklahoma State when

I first met him, receiver coach in Jacksonville the jack Wars.
So he's a guy that before he became the OC
places he was and the head coach at Southern mess
he was a receiver coach. So I think it's a
great credit you know, to Denzel and to uh, you know,
Casey Concepcion and that two of the three picks he
made his first time ever as a head coach or
(06:43):
wide receivers. So I know that they're excited about what
he could bring to the table. And uh, Denzel's you know,
got all the tools man.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Well jetfish with us and coach.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
When you look at him, Denzel, you know that you say, Okay,
here's a prototypical X receiver, right, He's got the size,
he's got the red zone capabilities. But as you're talking
to these coaches and they're asking about his versatility, what's
something that you think that maybe can still emerge in
his game that's maybe off the profile for what he does,
(07:17):
that maybe there's a tad more versatility or something that
those coaches need to know about Denzel maybe the person,
the potential receiver down the line that that impresses you
that you need to tell those coaches.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
I think the biggest thing is his willingness and love
for special teams. You know, whenever you bring receivers into
your program, especially rookies, they got to love to play
special teams. They got to be willing to play special teams. Denzel,
I believe was one of the better gunners I've ever
been around. You know, Matthew Slater was obviously the best

Pro Football Hall of Fame or one day here in
special teams. But what Denzel can do, uh in pun coverage.
And then also he was a punt returner for us
and never shied away from that. Went back to the
house in Week two. But more importantly than that, no
matter who we were playing, I was able to put
Denzel back there and confidently allow him to be an

elite returner and he was that for three years. So
those are two you know that that's the type of
guy people want to bring on their team. The second
part of it is his willingness to play inside and out.
We played him in the slot we played them outside.
We sometimes didn't line them up in the backfield and
motion them around. So you know, these are the things
(08:34):
that guys are looking for, smart football players, and he's
and someone that's competitive and that's what he is.
Speaker 6 (08:41):
Well, Jess, no secret, you're all about preparing your players
for this night and have your opportunity to play in
this league.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Do you do you tell your players to watch draft night?
Speaker 6 (08:50):
Do you have him sit down on Thursday and Friday
night and kind of envision themselves in this situation?
Speaker 5 (08:56):
Yeah? I mean last night we had a draft party
for our players when we got off the practice field,
and today we had about fifteen of our players here
with Denzel, and I hope our guys are watching, and
I hope they're dreaming of one day being one of
the two hundred and fifty six people picked, you know,
and we could continue to remind the guys, man, this
(09:18):
is not easy. This is not easy. You don't just
compete against the guys in your locker room. You're competing
against the guys in every single locker room. And that
hopefully will inspire our guys to continue to work hard,
embrace the grind, and see what type of practice we
can come out and have tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Yep. Hey, Jed, before you go, just real quick.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
I know he didn't get a chance to play for
you per se, but Jeremy Bernard, former Husky, just got
drafted by Pittsburgh at forty seven overall, so he's gonna
end up playing with DK Metcalf and newly acquired Michael Pittman.
But before you go, do you have any thoughts on
a good landing spot for number one for Jonah Coleman?
(09:58):
You got some teams coming up that could use some
he help on the ground, no doubt, But any thoughts
on maybe a good landing space for Jonah?
Speaker 5 (10:07):
Yeah? Well, you know, first of all, I was able
to watch a lot of Jeremy Bernard when I got here.
Unfortunately he transferred out before we arrived, but he would
have been a special addition to our program and we
would have been able to have a blast with a
guy like him with his skill set. So I know
that they're gonna, you know, have a really good player there.
As for Jonah, yeah, I think only two running backs
(10:27):
have gone so far in this draft unless I missed something, nope,
So you know, you don't know when they're gonna go.
But I do know when he does go, there's going
to be a very happy head coach, a very happy
running back coach, and a very happy quarterback on that team.
So whoever that is, whoever that might be, they're gonna
get somebody that will give it everything he has. We'll
(10:48):
be able to do it all pass, pro run game,
pass team, and on top of that be one elite teammate.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
No question.
Speaker 4 (10:56):

Thoughts on Denzel Boston going to the Cleveland Browns with
the thirty ninth pick in the NFL draft, how about that?
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Yeah, yeah, they're a team, hopefully from Denzil's perspective on
the rise, they just seem to be kind of mired
and stuck in mud with all kinds of decisions. You know,
at the quarterback, they haven't solved that they make acquisitions
wide receivers, they haven't got that right in a long time.
It just feels like if there was a seven on
(11:42):
seven tournament. Dick just taking the skill sets, the combination
of the quarterback and receivers. They might be the worst
in the league for many, many years, over years, and
then they're trying to prove that.
Speaker 6 (11:54):
Yeah. I mean they've got one side of the ball,
I'm gonna say figured out. But they've been a pretty
good defensive team over the last hours. They just can't
get out of their own way on offense.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
It's just amazing. The passing game, oh, no question.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
I mean the quarterback is it's just where quarterbacks go
to rot. It's incredible how they just cannot get that
position right.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
And I don't know who it was.

We were talking to the Your Day God who was
it that was on with us and we asked about
you know who the was Florio?
Speaker 2 (12:17):
He said, you know who's the who's the Who's QB one?

He says, probably shoulder right now over Dylan Gabriel and
Deshaun Watson. And I mean it shows you in some
ways kind of what that situation like.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
You imagine how calamitous that was. I mentioned if we're
doing that's a good video.

Like that that that you gotta go.

You spend two hundred and fifty million dollars on on
a guy that comes in and then through a variety
of circle you get nothing out of him, right like
Deshaun Watson. Starting with twenty seventeen, those three years there,
you thought, okay, this guy is on the path to
tough to Canton.

Yeah right, remember that. Remember the game when Houston came here.
Oh like he got killed in that game, but tore
us up right, And and I can this is a
true story. I can remember when he came out of
Clemson and you know, it's one of those ESPN thirty
minute you know, path to the Draft type a long

like a long format documentary, and they got Dabbos Sweeney
sitting down talking about him and they're so, you know
the type of teammate he was, and now how everybody
felt about him.

This is not I'm not I'm not lying on this.

I can remember like getting misty eyed about this kid
and wiping a tear off my cheek of how the
impression he made on Clemson the people around him as
a human being. And if you would have told me
stop right now, this is the future. Here's like, here's

the crystal ball, and I would have looked at the
crystal ball, and and thought of all these acquisitions, everything
that's happened, I said, this crystal ball is the most
you know, we'd infused, you know, a loosen, egetic infused
crystal ball that any human beans ever gazed at, like
like what has happened to him?

I could have never imagined, because I not only did
I think he was a terrific player, more importantly, I
thought he was like a next shelf type of human being.
And all it just shows this, you know, all the
people that you think are heroes, it's a scoffolding that
could come down at any time.

Of course, learned that with Eugene Robinson. Yeah right, I
mean honestly, I mean, you know, he's I think been
keeping his nose cleaned since then.

But that was about as shocking as it gets.

I was kind of friends with Eugene and oh man,
horrible right wow, hanging out or wist.

Would hang out, We would hang out, and I just thought.

He was you never know, man, you never know. Look,
I mean, I think you're a squeaky clean guy.

Well, let's talk about where the Seahawks are at guys,
because we're sitting here in the second round of the
NFL Draft. Obviously we're still a ways away from the Hawks.
The second round is well underway. Lee Hunter defensive tackle,
Texas Tech, just went to Carolina after a trade at
forty nine with Minnesota.

Avion Terrell. There you go.

The cornerback from Clemson went to Atlanta at forty eight.
And as we said, Jeremy Bernard Alabama, former Husky wide receiver,
went at forty seven to Pittsburgh. So he's going to
get to play with DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman. So
we are fifteen picks away from the Seahawks being on
the clock at number sixty four. I mean, look, all

of us can just and anybody can do this. Obviously,
look at best available. Jermad McCoy corner Tennessee. Who's the
guy that blew his ACL in January, sat out the
entire year. Emmanuel McNeil, Warren safety Toledo. Would that be
a Kobe Bryant replacement potentially there for the Seahawks. Anthony
Hill linebacker, Texas, Eli Stowers Vanderbilt tight end.

We don't think about it. Tight end. But you love
that guy, don't you. Well.

I think of him as just a big wide receiver
because when you watch him and you say that movement,
that acceleration, that kind of grace in and out of
his routes, his body control, you know, it's it's not
something that you typically see from a tight end, and
he's almost it's going to take a creative guy to

get the best out of him, because you don't really
think of, you know, all the traditional you know, tight end.
He's not in line tight tight end blocker. You just
think of him as a big receiver.

Four corners left on Rob's second round list, two edge
rushers and Emmanuel Pregnant still left the guard from Oregon,
who just said was an Adonis.

fifth highest overall, which is kind of weird, right for

who's gonna move up from the second round to take
the hawks thirty second pick to take Ty Simpson and
he ends up going thirteenth overall to Sean McVay and

talking point today and Dick in that there's this okay,
we're trying to do body language on Sean McVay, and
I think it's a little bit perplexing in the following

default would be Sean McVay is out of near the

best coaches in the NFL, and he's very young. Like
the Rams have exceedingly high value on Sean McVay. On
no planet would you envision Sean McVay is not intricately
intricately involved in the decision about who's gonna be the
next step uh and the and the successor to Matthew Stafford.

the successor to that guy Stafford that Sean McVay would say,
I needed to have the elite of the elite horsepower arms.

who is by many people, you know, a small frame,

his big question mark is is whether or not he
has the horsepower in his arm.

you've done more film study on ty Simpson than I have.

sixty four. Let's talk about what the best available board

looks like. Man, I mean, Jermal McCoy just dropping like
a rock. Nobody wants to deal with the acl from
last year. Emmanuel McNeil Warren, who was in our mock
draft on Wednesday, still out there. Emmanuel Pregnant, the guard
from Oregon, still there, talked to us and Seahawky's corners,
edge rushers, lineman.

I've got four corners that are still pretty intriguing to me.
Jermal McCoy you just mentioned from Tennessee with the injury.
That's a little bit spooky that he is still available.
The other three corners I really like here. Keith Abney,
the second from Arizona State. He's sought off guy, but
I love his physicality. Malik Muhammad in Texas. We talked
about Davison I. Beno Son from Ohio State is another

one who has the length and the trades that you're
looking for. That's the cornerback spot, the edge rusher. I'm
most intrigued by this point is Keroon Crawford from Auburn.
UH Jayshawn Barram and an edge rusher slash linebacker from
Michigan who has some trades that's worth developing. He might be,
you know, candidate. And then a couple of other wild cards.

Kyle Lewis is off ball linebacker for Pittsburgh. Some project
him more as a safety. To me, he is Drake
Thomas all over again. He's just he's undersized, but my goodness,
the instincts, the explosiveness, closing speed. Emmanuel Pregnant, the guard
from Oregon you talked about. And then uh, Emmanuel McNeil Warren,
the safety that you know NFL dot COM's Daniel Jeremiah
has been talking about all year long. Essentially he is
(32:48):
still available. Really big guy that you know is more
of a h you know, plays back as a safety
rather than in the box the way that the of
course us Nick even one.

Okay, well there's two guys intriguing me.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
McCoy and McNeil Warren, cornerback safety right replacement maybe for
Kobe McCoy replacement, maybe for week Willan.

Clearly, there's a line you get to with the medicals
where the knee is just too problematic to even consider
taking a guy right. But this is the second round
now and not the first round. The lower you go,
maybe the more you can stomach talk to us about that.

I'm gonna talk in a manner. Look, I'm not an
expert on this, This is my understanding. I think you're
dealing with two injured injury situation with McCoy. I think
you're dealing with the injury that held him out from
twenty twenty five.

I think there's a new situation.

I'm gonna call it as a generic term, a situation
that has emerged, a finding of a degenerative quality, either
induced by the the injury or or not. But but
there's it's it's beyond just the recovery of the injury.

So he could be off p boards period, right it
could be no doubt.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
Rob, talk to me about Seahawks' strategy right now, based
upon the depth of what you see. Are we in
a situation where there's only one or two really got
good guys left and you could potentially trade of next
year's pick to move up. Are we in a good
spot at sixty four or are you like you know what,
there's a bunch of guys let's try to move down
to sixty eight or sixty nine here for the Seahawks.
Speaker 8 (34:25):
Well, I think that there are a number of quality
players that you could explore a possible trade down if
it gets you another selection on Day three. At the
same time, I think that if you're going to make
a trade, then to me, what I would be considering
is trading one of the twenty twenty seven draft picks
to jump back into this mix and give yourself two
(34:46):
bites at the apple, so to speak. Here in these
next twenty picks. Obviously Seale has number sixty four overall,
then they have another thirty two pick gap between sixty
four and the ninety six, So that to me is
going to be one of the interesting decisions they have
to make. I do think that there's going to be
a player at sixty four overall. I just roled out
five or six of them, and you know, the Jaguars
taking a tight end Nick Berkasher, who is not among
(35:08):
the players I just listed. There will be one of
those players I just mentioned that I think would be
an excellent plug and play candidate for the Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
How about McNeil Warren. We mentioned Kobe Bryant who's now
gone to the Bears.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Is that correct unless he go I would say that
that would almost be my prediction. Okay, if he lasts
just sixty four in Seattle picks there because you lose
Kobe Bryant and you think of the players at a
position of need the highest, like like, who would fit
a Mike McDonald team. I mean, this is a guy
that you know, six three and a half, he's got
(35:43):
the link, you know, his eighty his wingspans in the
eighty fourth percentile, you lose Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant was
a back end player, right, he was not a box player.
This is how this guy plays. He's He's played in
a too high shell. That's his deal. He's not We
don't need to get a box safety. I mean nickim
and Worry in your mind, you can almost cross him
(36:03):
out as a dB. You just say, he's just a
really athletic SAM linebacker. That's what he is. He gotta
keep him on the field and he's gonna be the
same like like you'd say, well, isn't he a big
thump and sam like uh? Or a safety like Cam Chancellor.
Cam Chancellor in the Super Bowl twenty thirteen had four
hundred and nine snaps in the post safety Nick him

and Worry had less than ten the whole year. He's
a He's a linebacker. And in fact, I said that
all damn year and then and then at the end
of the year Mike McDonald said that, and so so.

I think that he's the one guy that has had
the slide and the areas he might slide to you

that much higher in the assessment of this team than

I think that he and another safety both are very
intriguing to me.

And so I'm gonna mention aj Halsey just because I
think you did a great job of articulating Emmanuel McNeil
Warren and why he would make a good selection with
with Halsey, he is a safety that was an l

can we rewind that.

Well, there's an alternate universe where he's there and the
Seahawks take him and you'll always have that moment, all right,
just say, you know, but Logan Jones Iowa just went
to the Bearers and Emmanuel McNeil Warren just went to
the Browns.

So what are we supposed to do now?

I mean, he's got one thing that's kind of fun
about him is he's got a nickname that people would
kind of gravitate to gravitate towards mister gimme that because
he was known for creating, you know, lots of interceptions,
forcing fumbles. He is a little bit more and I
hate to say that the Camp I know what a name.
Uh you know, I hate to use comparison to Camp
chance because nobody's Camp Chancellor. But at the same time,
(38:47):
there is more of that kind of a physical thumper
from that, more of a kind of traditional rover type
of a safety rather than being a real deep back
type of the safety. But if you're looking for that,
then he makes some sense as one of those selections.
And he is somebody that at least reportedly came to
Seattle on a visit, so there's obviously some interest there again.
(39:07):
At the corners and the edge rushers, to me, remain
the most intriguing positions I think that are available. Keyron
Crawford from Auburn is a former basketball player, and everybody
that went to Auburn this year was focusing so much
on Keldrick Falk, the big six to six touring seventy
five pounder that came at the was drafted the end
of the first round, and they left leaving you know,
(39:29):
they left talking about keiroon Crawford. He's more in that
six tour and forty five to tour and fifty pound range,
but he's got the twitch that you're looking for.

By the way, there was a trade that has come down.
The Vikings are sending Jonathan Grenard edge to Philadelphia for
two third rounders won this year at number ninety eight
and one next year. They also sent two forty four
back to Minnesota. So Jonathan Garnard is on the move.

Man, Yeah, I'm fired up. I'm over here with him
right now, and right we were able to celebrate the
pick a bunch of his teammates, myself, coach Cummings and
came to the Forum Social House here in Bellevue and
got to celebrate with him and still are and really
proud of him. Man, just so awesome. I mean, you know,

do you love to go in the first second round?
I would say this. I would say he is the
thirty ninth pick of the draft. That means he's the
thirty ninth best or valued player in the entire world
this year. And I couldn't be prouder of him.

The higher draft picks we have, the more games we're
gonna win. And if you look at Ohio State, they
had four drafted in this year's draft, and you know

and another in the top ten and another, uh you know,
semifinals this year. So I think it's a pretty good correlation.

Yeah, I'm feel the same way you do. I'm just
kind of on sitting at the edge of my seat
now hoping that those guys could get taken tonight, and
if they can, that will just be phenomenal. You know,
you've got to six foot three and a half six
foot four corners each capable of running sub four four
five that that correlates well, they got extremely long armed,

that correlate well, They've gotten the ability to cover down
the field and tackle. So those are what people are
looking for. So I really believe that these guys are
both in a great position to get taken either later
today or early tomorrow, and two teams are gonna end
up with two guys that they're they're gonna be really
excited about.

Well, let's go back to Denzel for a second.

Coach Jetfish with us Denzel Boston again going thirty ninth
over all to the Browns. I don't know how much
you know if coach Monkin, you know his offensive system,
what they do out there in Cleveland, and be curious
to get your thoughts on how he fits that offense.
And then look, I mean the good news for Denzel
is that there really isn't much there now. I mean,
it's Harold Fanning, it's Jerry Judy Fanning the tight end,

so he's gonna get targets. But you could also argue
that one of the negatives is there's not much there now, right.
I mean, you go to a team that's got a
lot of talent, maybe you're gonna have a chance to
maybe get open a little bit.

So what do you make of the roster? What do
you make of the offense that is going to play in?
Speaker 5 (06:02):
Yeah, First of all, I spoke to coach Monkin this morning,
and I know that he was super excited about this
opportunity if it presented, So that was number one. I
know that he really had his eyes set on trying
to get Denzel on his team, which is super cool. Uh,
he's a he's a wide receiver coach at heart. Coach.
Monk was the wide receiver coach at Oklahoma State when
(06:22):
I first met him, receiver coach in Jacksonville the jack Wars.
So he's a guy that before he became the OC
places he was and the head coach at Southern mess
he was a receiver coach. So I think it's a
great credit you know, to Denzel and to uh, you know,
Casey Concepcion and that two of the three picks he
made his first time ever as a head coach or
(06:43):
wide receivers. So I know that they're excited about what
he could bring to the table. And uh, Denzel's you know,
got all the tools man.
Speaker 2 (06:52):

When you look at him, Denzel, you know that you say, Okay,
here's a prototypical X receiver, right, He's got the size,
he's got the red zone capabilities. But as you're talking
to these coaches and they're asking about his versatility, what's
something that you think that maybe can still emerge in
his game that's maybe off the profile for what he does,
(07:17):
that maybe there's a tad more versatility or something that
those coaches need to know about Denzel maybe the person,
the potential receiver down the line that that impresses you
that you need to tell those coaches.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
I think the biggest thing is his willingness and love
for special teams. You know, whenever you bring receivers into
your program, especially rookies, they got to love to play
special teams. They got to be willing to play special teams. Denzel,
I believe was one of the better gunners I've ever
been around. You know, Matthew Slater was obviously the best
(07:50):
Pro Football Hall of Fame or one day here in
special teams. But what Denzel can do, uh in pun coverage.
And then also he was a punt returner for us
and never shied away from that. Went back to the
house in Week two. But more importantly than that, no
matter who we were playing, I was able to put
Denzel back there and confidently allow him to be an
(08:13):
elite returner and he was that for three years. So
those are two you know that that's the type of
guy people want to bring on their team. The second
part of it is his willingness to play inside and out.
We played him in the slot we played them outside.
We sometimes didn't line them up in the backfield and
motion them around. So you know, these are the things

that guys are looking for, smart football players, and he's
and someone that's competitive and that's what he is.

Well, Jess, no secret, you're all about preparing your players
for this night and have your opportunity to play in
this league.

to watch a lot of Jeremy Bernard when I got here.
Unfortunately he transferred out before we arrived, but he would
have been a special addition to our program and we
would have been able to have a blast with a
guy like him with his skill set. So I know
that they're gonna, you know, have a really good player there.
As for Jonah, yeah, I think only two running backs

have gone so far in this draft unless I missed something, nope,
So you know, you don't know when they're gonna go.
But I do know when he does go, there's going
to be a very happy head coach, a very happy
running back coach, and a very happy quarterback on that team.
So whoever that is, whoever that might be, they're gonna
get somebody that will give it everything he has. We'll

be able to do it all pass, pro run game,
pass team, and on top of that be one elite teammate.

of the quarterback and receivers. They might be the worst
in the league for many, many years, over years, and
then they're trying to prove that.

Jermal McCoy you just mentioned from Tennessee with the injury.

I love his physicality. Malik Muhammad in Texas. We talked
about Davison I. Beno Son from Ohio State is another

one who has the length and the trades that you're
looking for. That's the cornerback spot, the edge rusher. I'm
most intrigued by this point is Keroon Crawford from Auburn.
UH Jayshawn Barram and an edge rusher slash linebacker from
Michigan who has some trades that's worth developing. He might be,
you know, candidate. And then a couple of other wild cards.

Kyle Lewis is off ball linebacker for Pittsburgh. Some project
him more as a safety. To me, he is Drake
Thomas all over again. He's just he's undersized, but my goodness,
the instincts, the explosiveness, closing speed. Emmanuel Pregnant, the guard
from Oregon you talked about. And then uh, Emmanuel McNeil Warren,
the safety that you know NFL dot COM's Daniel Jeremiah
has been talking about all year long. Essentially he is

still available. Really big guy that you know is more
of a h you know, plays back as a safety
rather than in the box the way that the of
course us Nick even one.

maybe the more you can stomach talk to us about that.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
I'm gonna talk in a manner. Look, I'm not an
expert on this, This is my understanding. I think you're
dealing with two injured injury situation with McCoy. I think
you're dealing with the injury that held him out from
twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
I think there's a new situation.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
I'm gonna call it as a generic term, a situation
that has emerged, a finding of a degenerative quality, either
induced by the the injury or or not. But but
there's it's it's beyond just the recovery of the injury.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
So he could be off p boards period, right it
could be no doubt.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
Rob, talk to me about Seahawks' strategy right now, based
upon the depth of what you see. Are we in
a situation where there's only one or two really got
good guys left and you could potentially trade of next
year's pick to move up. Are we in a good
spot at sixty four or are you like you know what,
there's a bunch of guys let's try to move down
to sixty eight or sixty nine here for the Seahawks.
Speaker 8 (34:25):
Well, I think that there are a number of quality
players that you could explore a possible trade down if
it gets you another selection on Day three. At the
same time, I think that if you're going to make
a trade, then to me, what I would be considering
is trading one of the twenty twenty seven draft picks
to jump back into this mix and give yourself two
(34:46):
bites at the apple, so to speak. Here in these
next twenty picks. Obviously Seale has number sixty four overall,
then they have another thirty two pick gap between sixty
four and the ninety six, So that to me is
going to be one of the interesting decisions they have
to make. I do think that there's going to be
a player at sixty four overall. I just roled out
five or six of them, and you know, the Jaguars
taking a tight end Nick Berkasher, who is not among
(35:08):
the players I just listed. There will be one of
those players I just mentioned that I think would be
an excellent plug and play candidate for the Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
How about McNeil Warren. We mentioned Kobe Bryant who's now
gone to the Bears.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Is that correct unless he go I would say that
that would almost be my prediction. Okay, if he lasts
just sixty four in Seattle picks there because you lose
Kobe Bryant and you think of the players at a
position of need the highest, like like, who would fit
a Mike McDonald team. I mean, this is a guy
that you know, six three and a half, he's got
(35:43):
the link, you know, his eighty his wingspans in the
eighty fourth percentile, you lose Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant was
a back end player, right, he was not a box player.
This is how this guy plays. He's He's played in
a too high shell. That's his deal. He's not We
don't need to get a box safety. I mean nickim
and Worry in your mind, you can almost cross him
(36:03):
out as a dB. You just say, he's just a
really athletic SAM linebacker. That's what he is. He gotta
keep him on the field and he's gonna be the
same like like you'd say, well, isn't he a big
thump and sam like uh? Or a safety like Cam Chancellor.
Cam Chancellor in the Super Bowl twenty thirteen had four
hundred and nine snaps in the post safety Nick him
(36:26):
and Worry had less than ten the whole year. He's
a He's a linebacker. And in fact, I said that
all damn year and then and then at the end
of the year Mike McDonald said that, and so so.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
He learned that from you, I think, by the way, yeah, yeah,
because you told him and this.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Hack backup quarterback from like forty years ago. You know,
he finally identified. But but uh, but in terms of
the quality of the player, rob and and at a
need here and here's the guy. Look he has you know,
the traits are there, the productions there As far as
(37:05):
I know, I don't know of any injury nicks.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
It's just the competition.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
I think that he's the one guy that has had
the slide and the areas he might slide to you
at a at a at a position that you really need.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Now it's not as as needy as a corner.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
But but but if his if his safety play is
that much higher in the assessment of this team than
the corner.
Speaker 8 (37:30):
This this could, this guy could be a he could.
I think that he and another safety both are very
intriguing to me.
Speaker 5 (37:37):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (37:37):
And so I'm gonna mention aj Halsey just because I
think you did a great job of articulating Emmanuel McNeil
Warren and why he would make a good selection with
with Halsey, he is a safety that was an l
s U this past.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Season, he just went to the Browns traded up. So
can we rewind that.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
Well, there's an alternate universe where he's there and the
Seahawks take him and you'll always have that moment, all right,
just say, you know, but Logan Jones Iowa just went
to the Bearers and Emmanuel McNeil Warren just went to
the Browns.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
So what are we supposed to do now?
Speaker 8 (38:18):
Rob Well again, aj halse Sorry AJ Halsey again.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
LSU safety that we talked about.
Speaker 8 (38:24):
I mean, he's got one thing that's kind of fun
about him is he's got a nickname that people would
kind of gravitate to gravitate towards mister gimme that because
he was known for creating, you know, lots of interceptions,
forcing fumbles. He is a little bit more and I
hate to say that the Camp I know what a name.
Uh you know, I hate to use comparison to Camp
chance because nobody's Camp Chancellor. But at the same time,
(38:47):
there is more of that kind of a physical thumper
from that, more of a kind of traditional rover type
of a safety rather than being a real deep back
type of the safety. But if you're looking for that,
then he makes some sense as one of those selections.
And he is somebody that at least reportedly came to
Seattle on a visit, so there's obviously some interest there again.
(39:07):
At the corners and the edge rushers, to me, remain
the most intriguing positions I think that are available. Keyron
Crawford from Auburn is a former basketball player, and everybody
that went to Auburn this year was focusing so much
on Keldrick Falk, the big six to six touring seventy
five pounder that came at the was drafted the end
of the first round, and they left leaving you know,
(39:29):
they left talking about keiroon Crawford. He's more in that
six tour and forty five to tour and fifty pound range,
but he's got the twitch that you're looking for.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
By the way, there was a trade that has come down.
The Vikings are sending Jonathan Grenard edge to Philadelphia for
two third rounders won this year at number ninety eight
and one next year. They also sent two forty four
back to Minnesota. So Jonathan Garnard is on the move.
Where we are right now in the draft again, We're
(40:01):
moving fast here. The Hawks are coming up at number
sixty four. We just talked about this on the air.
The Browns took Emmanuel McNeil war in Toledo safety at
fifty eight. The Hawks are six picks away at sixty four.
