Your home for the twelfth Man Probably presents the twenty
twenty six NFL Draft Live from Pittsburgh, presented by Frost
brud Coors Light, Cold as the Rockies, and brought to
you by Dinos pubin rent On. Sports Radio ninety three
point three kjr FM.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
All right, we're back here at.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
The Virginia mas Athletics Center, Round two of the NFL Draft.
Just a couple minutes away. Seahawks sitting there at number thirty.
It's gonna be sixty four at the end of the
second round. The Niners after a couple of trades yesterday,
trading out of the first round entirely, and are now
sitting with the Jets old pick at number thirty three,
Arizona Buffalo, a pick they got from the Titans at

(00:41):
thirty five, Raiders, Giants Houston from the Commanders. There's gonna
be a lot of trades. This is going to be
a mess by the time it's all said and done.
But Niners are first up in the second round, which
we'll start momentarily here on ninety three three KJRFM. Softy
Dick hu Millan from the Virginia Mason Athletic Center arding
us right, now on the radio program Fox Sports Scout

(01:03):
Extraordinary for the British Columbia Lions.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
And the Canadian Football League.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Our friend Rob Rang joining us right now on the
radio program, Robbie, how are you man, I'm doing very well.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Good to see you.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Let's first of all get your thoughts before we talk
about best Available round two? Maybe what the Hawks are
thinking about doing? Jadarian Price, your thoughts on what went
down yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Yeah, I really like the selection. I just think that
he is a very clean fit in their wide zone offense.
I think that his receiving skills have been largely untapped.
The fact that he was not just ridden into the
ground the way that so many college running backs are.
I think there's awful lot of tread left on the tires,
and that I expecting to be RB one essentially right

(01:42):
now for the Seahawks next season.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
Three down back.

Speaker 6 (01:45):
How quickly can he be one?

Speaker 5 (01:47):
As far as blocking, as far as pass catching, you
said untapped potential the wide receiver or the pass catching spot.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Yeah, I think that the pass protection, like with most
running backs, that's always going to be a little bit
of you know, a jump just because he wasn't asked
to do that there very much. I mean when he
was on the field on third down and Notre Dame
then usually they were going to kind of just dump
the ball to him rather than ask him to pass protect.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
But he is uh.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
I'm sure you guys have seen pictures and videos of
him at this point.

Speaker 7 (02:16):
Me.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
He's a rocked up dude, and I just believe that
he has the physical ability to do it. He just
needs more opportunities and I think that he is showing
the work ethic to be successful in that as well.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Well, I'm glad that you brought that up because I
got three numbers in front of me. Fifty two one,
twenty four, one nineteen. You know what those are? Those
are his total touches per year at Notre Dame. Yeah,
I looked it up that no first run running back
has ever had a year in his college career where
he went under one hundred and twenty five every single season.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Or second round, either first or second round. So how
much does that kind of a little bit, right.

Speaker 7 (02:53):
Well, you're concerned, particularly when it's combined with his weight. Right,
you just say you're gonna ask him to do something
and that you haven't done.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
Now, this isn't twenty years.

Speaker 7 (03:03):
Ago, when a number of running backs Alexander Danny Thomas
and all the best of that era, they were over
you know, a pushing twenty carries per game.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
Canine was at about thirteen last year. So so Price
had eight per.

Speaker 7 (03:21):
Game in college, right, So even if you get to
that that thirteen range, that's a fairly substantial jump. And
then when when when Sharbonnay got hurt, then then his
load walkers load went up even higher. So if you
you're you're probably asking him to be able to at
least double his workload.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, for sure. Doesn't mean he can't do it, just
hasn't done it in three years.

Speaker 7 (03:45):
Yeah, and so yeah, the flip side of the he
has plenty of tread is that he hasn't shown that
he can he can stay healthy and take on a
work workload like that week got sure?

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Sure? How about you? Is the scout you would that
concern you at all?

Speaker 4 (04:02):
The scout of me is not concerned because what I've
seen on tape suggests that he should be able to
do this and excel, I mean, his explosive run rate
is among the best in this draft class. And then frankly,
I think that we're you know, forgetting about Emmanuel Wilson,
the player that was brought in from the Green Bay Packers.
I just think that his size, I think that he

(04:22):
can kind of play that Zach Charboney role as far
as being the bigger back Jaccardia right as well, and
then of course George Halaaney. So I think that to me,
this is not a case of where I think the
Seahawks are going to be asking Jadarian Price to be,
you know, the true belcow and have those twenty carries
a game. I think he is going to be in

(04:43):
more than that twelve to thirteen touches per game kind
of thing. I think in that case he is going
to excel, especially being offering a little bit more big
play potential than any back that the Seahawks currently had
in the roster other than Prices.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
Seems like a supply and deman move because this supply
of running backs was so low. But on your overall board,
how did you compare Price with the best corners that
are left and the best edges that are left.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
That's a really good point because I do think that
the running back just the there was not a lot
of other quality running backs like for example, I have
seven cornerbacks that I expect that I have in the
next thirty two players ranked. I have zero running backs.
I have seven edge rushers among the next thirty two,
And so I really think that it sets up well

(05:30):
for the Seahawks, because I do. I believe that their
biggest areas of concern were running back, edge rusher, and cornerback,
and they just to your point about the supply and demand,
there just was not much or many running backs available
and therefore ticked the one because the greater depth of
the other two positions you can come back in the
second and third round to get those.

Speaker 7 (05:50):
You referenced the explosive run rate of price, who's less
than Jeremiah Love No shame, Yeah right, I mean Jeremiah
Love is you know, a clear Cadillac of the lass.
But if we're getting into advanced metrics, that can be
offset by a what's called the rushing yards over expected.
He was point eight yards over expected, which by top

(06:15):
you know, first round, second round stat that's a very
low percentage. So one could make the argument, I'm not
saying I'm making it, but one could make the argument
if you cite explosive run rate that's really a reflection
on the Notre Dame offensive line.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
And then when you contrast that.

Speaker 7 (06:33):
To his expected yards over or excuse me, yards rush
over expected, that's actually a saber metrics and and he
ferrets out very low in that category, meaning the explosiveness
he had was due to the fact that the Notre
Dame offensive line, which was very capable, uh and and

(06:56):
they had.

Speaker 6 (06:57):
Relatively weak schedule.

Speaker 7 (06:59):
That that that maybe some of those numbers are tweaked
because of the of the really dominant Notre Dame offensive line.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Yeah, I think that's a fair criticism, you know, I
mean honestly, when this entire process began, and I started
kind of reading reports, and you know, people I trust
to said, you know, the second best running back in
the country is also the second best running back of
Notre Dame. And I just I kind of scoffed at that.
I was like, ah, right, there's got to be other
running backs out there, you know, it's Notre Dame's offensive

(07:27):
line has consistently been very, very good. And so I
used to call that the parasite effect, you know, the
guys would feed off of each other, kind of an idea.
And then I started watching the tape, and the more
I dug into it, the more I gained an appreciation
for Prices instincts, you know. And I used the comparison
before to Terrell Davis, and again it's it's difficult to
say that just because I had such great respect for TV,

(07:50):
you know, But at the same time, I just see
a different level of instincts with this guy. The way
that he sets guys up and then cuts back against
the grain. I just think it's a really nice fit
for the offensive system that the Seahawks have and the
fact that again he's not going to be asked to
carry the load. I mean, there's just so much talent
on this offense that the running back to me is

(08:12):
basically a you know, a byproduct of the success of
the passing game as well. Yeah, and knowing the way
that Brian Fleury utilized his running backs of San Francisco,
I mean, the Seahawks got zero touchdowns from their running
backs as receivers a year ago. Christian McCaffrey, who was
obviously a different level player, but Christian McCaffrey led all
of the NFL in running backs running back touchdowns as

(08:36):
a receiver a year ago. I just think that they're
going to use the running back a lot more often,
and I think that Price has a skill set to
splash well.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Rob Rank Fox Sports with us here Niners on the
clock in round number two, we're a few minutes away
from the second round getting underway. I'm just looking at
some best available, just even thinking about San Francisco, who
were dead last in the NFL and sacks last year.
That's crazy, by the way, think about that team being
that poor. It's only twenty opposing passer rating over one hundred.
They only picked off six passes the entire year. How

(09:06):
the hell did they make the playoffs? For God's sakes,
for all those terrible numbers on defense. But there's some
big names out there that could help those guys. If
they want to take a flyer on Jermad McCoy, cornerback
from Tennessee who missed the entire year with an ACL injury.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
That could be a steal.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Zion Young maybe the best edge rusher left on the board,
but who kind of has your eye, your kind of
radar up at least early on for best available in
round two and then maybe looking late in the second
round for the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Well again, I had seven corners, seven edge rushers. You
can just mention two of them, you know, Jermal McCoy
from Tennessee, his teammate Colton Hood at Tennessee, Brandon Sisa
from South Carolina, DiAngelo Pond's Avon Terrell. All four of those,
excuse me, five corners I just rattled off here, I
expect to be within the first fifteen selections of the

(09:54):
second round. Here. As far as guys that might make
sense for the Seahawks as sixty four overall at the
cornerback spot, Keith Abney, the second from Arizona State. He's
a little bit stubby, but he is kind of scrappy
do with the physicality, the instincts, the ball skills. Malik
Muhammad from Texas is an their player that's kind of
a little bit like Takario Davis from UNUB He's tall

(10:15):
and very slim, very long, and you know, again, just
think about all the receiver talent that they had at
Texas and the success of the law or excuse me,
the level of competition that Texas has gone up against,
and as far as edge rushers to your point, twentieth
twenty sacks a year ago for the forty nine ers.
I mean, my goodness. Now, obviously Nick Bosa being injured,
Fred Corner being injured, but at the same time, cash

(10:38):
is how TJ. Parker you mentioned Zion Young. You know
there are some good pass rushers. They are still available here,
not only for the forty nine ers with the first
pick of the second round, but also potentially available for
the Seahawks. I think Sile's going to be looking for
those quick wins. They've been talking about that some of
the smaller edge rushers but also have that twitch to them.

(11:00):
I think it'd be interesting for Seattle sixty four over
ar Ice and Thomas from Oklahoma, Keron Crawford from Auburn
and Derek Moore from Michigan. Those are three guys and
it could make an awful lost sense for the Seahawks.

Speaker 6 (11:11):
Got it.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
I think you're barking up the right tree of those
two positions. But we do want to remind everyone that
Hughes favorite Anthony Bradford is still starting at right guard
for Seattle. So let's talk about the guard position and
can we find a replacement at that spot at the
guard position in the second round.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Well, it's interesting that you mentioned that because you know again,
I mentioned seven ed rushers, seven cornerbacks. I've got two
guards in the next thirty two players. Chase Basantis from
Texas A and M. I would be surprised if he's
available at sixty four, possibly with Emmanuel Pregnant from Oregon
and guys. I was fortunate to go to the Oregon

(11:48):
Pro Day, and I have never seen a guard that
looks like this guy. I mean, he just looks like
he man out there. I mean he's just got arms,
He's three hundred and thirty pounds and there's not much
fat on this guy. I mean he is just as
physically put together as you want. He's got power, He's
got enough quickness to be effective in the wide zone.
The nice thing about Pregnant is that virtually all the
snaps to go at the right guard spot, so he

(12:09):
would be able to come in and, you know, and
also be kind of a plug and play kind of
a candidate.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
There's gonna be a bunch of guys here taken at
least early on in the second round, Hugh, that I
know that you've scouted as potential first rounders. Denzel Boston
fell out of the first round. Avion Terrell Clemson corner
Jermad McCoy is interesting and our mock draft. He went
to the Cowboys at number twenty, but he's still there.
And I just wonder for a kid like McCoy, if

(12:36):
he did not tear his ACL in January of twenty
twenty five, is this maybe a mid first round pick
kind of dude? And if he's healthy, is somebody about
to get maybe a huge deal with this guy.

Speaker 7 (12:47):
I think he's arguably a little bit higher than mid Wow,
you know, wow.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
I think he might have been in the eight to
twelve range. Wow.

Speaker 7 (12:55):
Yeah, yeah, No, he's a guy he missed the entire
uh season, as you said, a cl but and and
he had some penalties I think at five uh five,
either pass interference or holding calls. But but the the
explosiveness of his athleticism, just the how how has changed

(13:17):
the direction?

Speaker 6 (13:18):
Uh?

Speaker 7 (13:18):
You know when he goes to accelerate in turn, there's
a fluidity and an explosion in him that that you know,
he arguably was a more talented.

Speaker 6 (13:32):
Corner if he's healthy.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Yep.

Speaker 7 (13:34):
I think it's more likely that he would have gone
off before Monsoon or delayed and Delayne went at number
six I think he. I think the league would have
scouted him hired now, so in in this particular year
with Kansas City have that incredible need at corner, I
think he'd have gone six.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
Well, it's crazy because you you mentioned that, Hugh. I mean,
you know, Manster Delaine did not give up a touchdown
this year, he didn't get a penalty this year. And
yet I still will agree with you everything you just said, Hugh,
that you know, at number six overall, we're talking about
a corner who still wound up being I think you
could argue that Jamal McCoy's twenty twenty four tape was

(14:14):
even better than Mansword Delane's twenty twenty five tape. And
that's again a pretty bold statement for a guy who's
board number six overall.

Speaker 7 (14:21):
Well, and let me clarify because somebody's may be thinking this, Well,
hang on, if if both McCoy and Delane had been
in this draft and McCoy is healthy, under that situation,
Kansas City would not have felt compelled to move up
to six, because if they missed on one, they would
get the other at nine. I understand that point, but
but I think if you try and somehow equate the scenarios.

(14:45):
I think there's more teams that would draft a healthy
McCoy than a healthy delay.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Well, let's do this. This is where we're lucky, because
we're gonna get you to respond to this pick live,
and then we'll cut you loose. I know you got
some stuff to do for Fox the Niners Andy, three
time All Pro former Niner. He's making the selection now
for San Francisco to kick off round number two.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
What's up, Pittsburgh.

Speaker 8 (15:12):
I just want to say it's awesome to be back
in my college hometown.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
Was an honor to play here for four years, and I.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Sort to think the forty nine ers for this opportunity.

Speaker 9 (15:22):
I want to give a shout out to the forty
nine or faith all the best stands in the NFL.

Speaker 6 (15:29):
Win the thirty third fit.

Speaker 8 (15:30):
In the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, the San Francisco
forty nine Ers select day Sean Stribling wide receiver.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Oh miss, Well, they're gonna get obviously him, and they're
gonna get Pierce Sall. And they went out over the
offseason and got Mike Evans, right, so they are adding
to that arsenal down there in San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
What do you know about Stripling.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
He's now a member of the Niners and we'll see
him twice a year in the NFC West.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
Yeah, so it's gonna be that much more critical than
the Seahawks gets some help the cornerback position because as
you just mentioned that the forty nine ers now have
some real wide receiver talent. Shribbling is a really interesting player.
He began his college career actually at Washington State, was
successful there, led them in touchdown receptions as a freshman.
Jumps to Oklahoma States and then Finland, finished up here

(16:20):
at Old Miss. He's six foot two, he's two hundred
and ten pounds, and he ran a four to three.
He is you know, he's actually kind of a fun
story with him as far as off field stuff. He
grew up in Hawaii. He is the son of a marine.
He is a yes, sir, no man kind of a guy.
He is the exact opposite of what Brendan Ayuk is.

(16:40):
And so this is I think not only the player
makes sense in Kyle Shanahan's offense. Is a big play threat.
He is also an excellent run blocker, one of the
best run blocking wide receivers in this class. But he's
also a good human being. I think that is just
kind of the forty nine ers are looking to make
sure they have good people. Yeah, just good.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Here's saw Mike Evans and now this guy about that.

Speaker 7 (17:03):
Yeah, well they've they're upgrading. They needed to get some
big playability from the receiver spot. I mean they were
I talked to Mac Jones at the Super Bowl, who
was the backup quarterback for the forty nine ers, and
you know, and we'd met before, and I said, hey,
what do you think of the Seahawks defense, And first
thing out of his mouth, he's just you just can't

(17:24):
get any big plays out. You know, they're just so
good at denying the big play, so they're trying to
get guys you can get the big play now coming
out old miss uh. I didn't scout this guy, but
I remember just kind of in watching the games that
you know, there's so much RPO like lateral stuff. You know,
they're they're not as much vertical as there had been

(17:45):
with Jackson Dart. But this kid, if I remember, if
I have the guy right, he's he's really elusive. For
a guy six two at the line of scrimmage, he
can you know there's there's a he has a bubble
screen screen ability to him that that kind of defies
his proportions.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
All right, I said it was going to cut you loose,
but I like because I want to get you to
respond to this pick, because this is important right here, Andrews.
We got the selection for the Cardinals now at number
thirty four, second pick in the second round.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
What do you got?

Speaker 8 (18:18):
Pittsburgh was going on, it's good to be home. With
the thirty fourth pick. In twenty twenty six NFL Draft,
the Arizona Cardinals select Chase Besontis guard Texas A.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
And now, all right, so they.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Going to Jeremiah Love and now they give him a
new blocker in Byzantes. I was kind of secretly hoping
this guy would somehow, some way end up playing for
the Seahawks. But how about that Chase Byzants, who I
think was a first rounder and our mock if I'm
not mistaken. On Wednesday we just went to the Cardinals.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
Yeah, just a really good player. I mean he is
a guy that you came to Texas A and m
from new you know, and so he was a five
star recruit. He was everybody is kind of you know
parade all American prep player comes into Texas A and M,
and of course they have had, you know, so many
defensive linemen, offensive linemen that have gone in the first

(19:14):
round over the last couple of years. So it's just
like the practice against very good players, I think is
kind of you know, Iron Sharpen's iron kind of a thing.
He's athletic, he is physical, He's just one of those
guys that you know, interior offensive linemen are often stereotype
is like one of the safe picks. This is a
safe pick. So it's a good move for the Cardinals.
They needed some good moves because their GM Monty Austin Ford.

(19:37):
It's one of the things I'm writing for Fox Sports
right now. You know, they've had Austin Ford has had
four first round selections over the last couple of years,
and if I mention those players by name, then you
would basically say that they needed to hit. And I
think that's one of the reasons why they went there
with Jeremiah Love and the first selection they had Paris Johnson,
Marvin Harrison, Junior, Darius Robinson, Walter Nolan. Harrison showed a

(19:58):
little bit of flashes last year obviously against the Seahawks,
but otherwise none of those guys have hit to the
expectations of where they were drafted. They needed some guys
that are going to be able to come in and
play immediately for Mike Leffleur, new head coach, and so
I think the basantas is that relatively maybe not be
a home run, but it's a strong single up the
middle for a team that needed him.

Speaker 5 (20:18):
Rob Boston was mocked way higher than Stribbling, I mean,
like thirty spots higher. Why do you think Stribbling went
before Denzel and was that the right moves?

Speaker 4 (20:29):
It's one I struggled with personally because I had Denzel
Boston and coming off the board, I think at about
twenty five to the Cleveland Browns, I thought would be
a really nice selection for him. They went with a
different receiver, Casey Concepcion, who, like Stribling, has the straight
line speed that Denzel Boston just doesn't have. I think
the Denzel Boston is going to wind up, you know,
being a very effective NFL player. I love the body

(20:51):
control of his size. I love the ability to, you know,
just go up and get the ball at the highest
point at the same time, he just doesn't have juice.
He didn't run the combine, he didn't run the pro day.
I watched him just kind of peel off his uh
track pants and running in kind of compression shorts and
do a really nice uh three cone drill and uh

(21:11):
you know, and work do some drills at the pro day.
So it just showed that he's got very nice lateral
agility for a tall guy. I mean, you can see
some of the basketball kind of stuff with him. But again,
the NFL, it's all about that straight line speed, and
he doesn't have that.

Speaker 6 (21:25):
Well. I think also the wiggle you know, like Casey
concepts you own.

Speaker 7 (21:28):
Uh you know, there was a time that that a
guy like Danzel Boston, you say, okay, here's a true
ex receiver, uh you know, red zone vertical threat, you know,
far different contrasts than Casey concepts you own. You know,
who's just this you know, microwave type of energy when
you get him the ball, you know, near the line

(21:50):
of scrimmage and and he can just go. It's just
kind of a yach kind of a league now in
many ways because of the r PO infiltration.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
All right, have you been actually writing your article for
Fox while you're talking to not while I'm talking to
you guys. But yeah, I'm looking that's pretty impressive. Well,
why don't you go finish that. We'll check in throughout
the evening. All right, man, Rob rang with us from
Fox Sports. The latest pick, by the way, in the
second under to update you guys, TJ. Parker Edge from
Clemson just went to Buffalo with the third pick overall

(22:20):
in the second round. The Raiders have now made a
trade with the Texans, and the Texans are now on
the clock at number thirty six. We're gonna break, we'll
come back and recap everything continue around number two. Seahawks
up at number sixty four, so we're about thirty picks away. Ectal,
Sorry about twenty eight picks away from the Seahawks being
on the clock right here on ninety three to three KJRFM.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
Now back to the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, presented
by Frost Brud Coors, Luck Cold is the Rookies and
brought to you by Dino's Paul. Been written on Sports
Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.

Speaker 10 (23:00):
Whitney thirty six pick in the twenty twenty six NFL Draft,
The Houston Texans like Cayden McDonald, defensive tackle, Ohio Stage.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
All right, that is the last pick that we've had
so far.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
In the second round, thirty sixth overall, Texans made a
trade with the Raiders and moved up and took Caden McDonald,
Ohio State defensive tackle.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
Isn't it funny?

Speaker 3 (23:22):
By the way, however, now and then Goodell just kind
of shows up, right like you got all these legends
that are making all these selections for all these teams,
and then just randomly, you know, I picked thirty nine.
Goodell just kind of gets bored, you know what, I'd
like to make a pick.

Speaker 5 (23:35):
It was like when needed, right, right, the team hasn't
found somebody to make a pick, So I'm like, hey, Roger,
you gotta go do it.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
He just goes on stage and just says, all right,
I'll I mean, frankly, I think it'd be great if
he made every pick, to be honest with you, right,
I mean, maybe like day three, there's some deputy like
Adam Sober was David Stern's deputy commission.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Yeah, he did round two exactly right, But there's.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
Only two rounds in the NBA Draft. This isn't seven
rounds like football?

Speaker 7 (23:59):
So so Farad McDonald, by the way, hang on time out.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
Sorry, let me just update your row back on the
second round. I want to get people updated. So the
first pick of the second round, the Niners made a
deal with the Jets yesterday that was able to get
the Jets three first rounders. As you know, Niners took
the Stribbling, a wide receiver from Ole Miss. They'll pair
him up with Ricky Piersoll and Mike Evans. Chase Bezontes.

(24:22):
The guard went to the Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
TJ.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Parker edge Clemson to Buffalo, and now Cad McDonald defensive
tackle Ohio State to the Texans at thirty six.

Speaker 7 (24:31):
Yeah, and he's the best run stopper in the group.
You know, when you think of that kind of two
down take him off the field, but first and second down,
two gap, he's not quick enough to get into a gap,
but really holds his ground. And he was an Outland
Trophy finalists unanimous All American. But his past rush win

(24:53):
rate just four percent, speaks to he's he's he's on
the field for one purpose, just to to hold his
ground not get pushed back.

Speaker 6 (25:02):
In the red game, right.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
Well, I'll tell you what, man, that Texan defense is
not to be trifled with.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
Man. I mean they are building something, dude.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
To remember people, the best defense in the NFL is
is like December, they finished, they finished, and behind the Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
I think they were two tenths of a point behind
them for the NFL scoring championship. I mean that's how
good they are. Seventh and sacks, fourth and rushing, number
one in total defense, third, best passer rating allowed.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Their defense is stacked, and now they've hadded this.

Speaker 7 (25:32):
I think the most impressive I'm sitting there saying, okay,
what what game actually was the most impressive game by
Seattle's defense Probably the Week eighteen against the forty nine ers, right,
because because they dismantled a good off, all right, or
the yeah we're the Super Bowl? Are you gonna flip

(25:53):
it until the fourth quarter? I mean, you know, if
you if you certainly through three quarters. What I was
going to say is when when Buffalo went down to
Houston on that Monday night and sacked Josh Allen eight
times and like they made him look like a JV team.
That was one of if we're having a discussion about

(26:15):
the five best defensive performances of any team. The Seahawks
have a couple of them. That was one of them.
That Houston game was what right?

Speaker 3 (26:24):
Yeah, well, I thought what I thought you're gonna say
is when you were talking about the best game that
the defense had, the way that you were, your kind
of tone of voice, because I've known you for a
long time.

Speaker 6 (26:34):
Yeah yeah, okay, put your next move.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
But the best game the offense had when you factor
in who they played in that game against Houston Texans,
they put up twenty seven. I mean, there were some
turnovers involved in that game. Darnold obviously wasn't phenomenal. He
had the sack in the end zone. They were able
to churn out some points in that game. The problem
with that game, and I'm obviously I'm being slightly sarcastic,

(26:57):
but nobody saw it because it was seven of the
alcs with the Mariners in Toronto. So getting that win,
I mean that that win looks a lot better now
than it did.

Speaker 7 (27:07):
If you made a five play highlight tape of Sam
Darnold's season, Right that touchdown pass he had going in
this to the south end zone red zone with a
dude in his face smoke and he hits it anticipating
the posts in the back. I don't even remember who
he threw it to. I just remember, just go. Yeah,
that is that is absolute the highest elite level of quarterbacking,

(27:30):
and so against a you know, arguably as good a
defense as anybody in the league.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Why don't we.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Find out what the Giants just did at number thirty seven?

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Back to Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
You are, okay, we'll just wait who's to jas and
I remember that? Yeah, we'll just wait on that. We'll
get that. We'll get the Giants pick at thirty seven
in a minute.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
What point do we start to get excited about this
cornerback position if corners continue not to go. I mean,
just to give everybody a baseline, because everybody knows to
Carrio Davis and Ephesian's price sock well in the composite
mock to Carrio Davis was the twelfth corner, Ephesians was
the twentieth corner, and only two have been selected so far.

(28:09):
So at what point do we get close to sixty
four and go like, oh my god, there's there's.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Still five or six. Legit, yeah, second round, legit question,
we're twenty six picks, I would be.

Speaker 7 (28:20):
I'd be stunned if there's not some wave like a run,
a run within you know, within twelve picks, like five
or six within twelve picks type of a run. So
I'm not gonna get excited right now. But you're right
to think because.

Speaker 5 (28:33):
Robin says, there seven second round corners and zero have
gone so far.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Well, let's see if two of them just went. Let's
go with the last two picks. Andrews, you're gonna play
these back to back. You're gonna jump in and reset.
You tell me, well, I was jumping in reset. But
all right, let's go with the Giants pick first at
number thirty seven.

Speaker 10 (28:49):
Go ahead, with the thirty seventh pick in the twenty
twenty six NFL Draft, the New York Giants select Colton
Hood deep bet to back Tennessee.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
Kay, there you go. That's a guy.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
That's a guy that a lot of people thought could
have been a first rounder out of Tennessee. Colton Hood
from Tennessee is now a member of John Harbaughs Giants.
I remember, he's the brand new head coach and they
just brought in a bunch of ravens, four or five
guys from Baltimore. And now they add Colton Hood before
we get your take on him. Let me get the
Raiders pick real quick, Anders, if you're ready. At number

(29:23):
thirty eight, the Raiders stepped in for Houston. This is
the pick that originally had belonged to Washington. Houston grabbed it.
They made a trade. Now the Raiders on the clock
at thirty eight. I believe this is Matt Millan, if
I'm not mistaken making the announcement for the Raiders, go
ahead with yeah.

Speaker 9 (29:39):
In the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, the Las Vegas
Raiders select, trading Stokes defensive back Arizona.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
All right, so Colton Hood at thirty seven.

Speaker 7 (29:52):
I know you're excited. I thought you said go ahead.
I'm the commissioner now, I guess.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Talking to Andrews back in the studio. Coltonhood to the
Giants trading Stokes, Arizona safety to the Raiders at thirty eight.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (30:04):
Well, Hood was a guy that had a visit with Seattle.
He had a thirty visit with the Seahawks. And here's
a guy did not start playing offense, excuse me, played
offense until his junior year in high school.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
So a little bit of a late developer.

Speaker 7 (30:22):
Ninety four percent of his snaps were to the outside
violent guy at the line of scrimmage, but sometimes misses
at the line of scrimmage. And here you're kind of
betting on his traits and what he will become as
opposed to what you see on the tape.

Speaker 6 (30:39):
So I think there's there's some room for growth there.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
So a couple of dbs, but then the edge position,
only one has gone since Rob rang told us there's
seven guys that he'd taken the second round, So there's
there's two positions. Now twelve players that at least Rob
says are legit second round picks that the Seahawks would
seriously consider at sixty four.

Speaker 7 (31:00):
Here here's a thought about the end, and understand how
Mike McDonald sees.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Is this going to be a long analysis? Because I
might have a cookie while you're talking.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
By the way, there's a big box a girl scout
short bread cookies over to the pr staff dropped off.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
I can't just look at him slug a hole sleeve.
Go ahead, Okay, So you know, boy Mafey moves on.
Because of the four defensive ends for the Seahawks, he
was arguably the twitchiest pass rusher, but the least capable

(31:35):
of setting the edge in the run game. And that's
a big problem for Mike McDonald. And when there was
talk about Trey Hendrickson of the Bengals, when you know
he's going out, where's he going?

Speaker 6 (31:44):
What have you?

Speaker 7 (31:45):
When he come to Seattle, does that feel the need
and and that was a hard no for Mike McDonald
because Trey Hendrickson doesn't have the position versatility. You know,
he was only a right end and and then he
doesn't have of the uh, he doesn't have the edge setting.

Speaker 6 (32:05):
And so.

Speaker 7 (32:08):
I think that's something that you you take forward with
the analysis of some of these guys. Now if he's
strictly just saying I want a third down guy, because
I think nuos who in d law can can man
the first and second down and they present that physical
presence that may be where you see an exception. But

(32:29):
understand how Mike McDonald sees defensive ends like a lot
of guys that that that you're turned on and say, oh,
he's an edge guy. Like for example, he would have
never allowed John Schneider UH to draft Bruce Irvin with
the fifteenth overall pick.

Speaker 6 (32:47):
In twenty twelve, boy is gone. But you mentioned Nuosa there.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
I mean you need to replace them new Wolfsha too, right,
so I mean very quickly. I mean we probably probably
got more him than we.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Thought we were.

Speaker 7 (33:02):
Yeah, and he's had a lot of injuries, getting older
and and so yeah, they have to infuse that defensive
endposition with some youth.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
Well I was, he's a dude.

Speaker 7 (33:12):
Now he's in Mike McDonald, stop you, no doubt he's
the only young guy in that style.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
Shame on me for even thinking this. By the way, Uh,
we're gonnat the Browns pick here in just a second.
But you know, I was gonna say, how surprised would
you be if it was a cornerback or not a
cornerback and edge rusher or an offensive lineman. But that's
just not how these guys usually operate, right, There is
a need for corner, there is a need for edge.
I don't know, honestly where they sit privately on Anthony Bradford.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
I know where you sit on Anthony Bradford.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
I mean publicly, they've obviously been, you know, very positive
about him, but that's how they are about everybody, For
God's sake, they've.

Speaker 7 (33:48):
Been positive about guys. Uh, you know in the days,
looks like dan Zel. Well, okay, that's fine. I was
gonna plan on the air, but whatever, Okay, that's okay.

Speaker 5 (33:57):
Yeah, Softie loves these he loves to play these picks.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Oh yeah, I mean, guys, I mean we're doing live radio.
I'm my radio roots. Are you ready with that back there?

Speaker 6 (34:09):
Yes, sir?

Speaker 3 (34:09):
All right, let's find out what the brands do. At
number thirty thirty nine.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Go ahead with the.

Speaker 6 (34:14):
Thirty ninth pick in the six.

Speaker 8 (34:18):
The Cleveland Brown select Denzel Boston wide receiver Washington.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Here we go, Brown, So there you are. How about that?
All right? There you go.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
The Bronce just took denz maybe maybe not guy named Denzel,
maybe Denzino or whatever.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Donzel Boston, Denzel Boston.

Speaker 7 (34:36):
Where wide receivers go to die Well?

Speaker 3 (34:39):
And who's the quarterback? Is it Shad or is it Gabriel?
Is it gonna be Deshaun Watson when he gets healthy?
I mean, how about that Denzel Boston, Emerald Ridge U
dub goes to the Browns.

Speaker 7 (34:50):
Well, he just got drafted in the second round. I
mean that that that is a cool experience. So when
we kinda make light of it a little bit. It's
only in relation to you know, what a guy's dreams
could have been, right right, right? I mean I can
remember going to bed before the night before I got drafted,
and I was like, I'm gonna be thrilled wherever I go,

(35:10):
but please not Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
That's what you said in my mind. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (35:15):
I don't know if I was trying to make deals
with God, but it was, you know, it was at
least a little bit of a concern. And and Denzel
Boston would have might have said, I hope I go
first round to I.

Speaker 6 (35:26):
Don't know the the you know what I bet he wanted.
I want.

Speaker 7 (35:29):
I bet he wanted to go first round. I'm gonna
put it right now, first round picked twenty.

Speaker 6 (35:34):
Two to the LA Chargers.

Speaker 7 (35:35):
I bet when he went to bed, that's that's a
reasonable blue spot in Philadelphia because because he would have
been with with a Justin Herbert, he would have lambmacackey
on the inside. He would have been the dude on
the O like that would have checked every box for him.

Speaker 6 (35:52):
I bet I bet my last dollar on that.

Speaker 7 (35:55):
And it was right in the window at twenty two
that that he was projected so he's not getting greedy. God,
I'm not getting greedy. I didn't ask for twelve.

Speaker 6 (36:04):
Who had the Cowboys had twelve? Uh? You know twenty two?

Speaker 7 (36:08):
To the charges he was he did not go to
bed on Wednesday night wanting to be a a second
round draft pick to the Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Well, who who wants to go to Cleveland? Period?

Speaker 6 (36:19):
Unless you're from there? Yeah, like like in the movie Draft.

Speaker 7 (36:22):
Day, Well Burrow wanted to go to the Bengals because
he's from there.

Speaker 6 (36:25):
That's not that nobody wants to go to.

Speaker 5 (36:28):
The worst case scenario, is it not for a wide
receiver like right now, and not only going to Cleveland,
but going to going to that understand team.

Speaker 7 (36:37):
Let's acknowledge the voices they're saying, shut the f up,
I got real problems.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
And if you think that he's got a problem, shame
on you.

Speaker 6 (36:45):
Well, I get that.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Guy's the deal. Though, here's the comparing the thirty one.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Hang on a second, here's here's.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
The good news for Denzel.

Speaker 3 (36:53):
Their best pass catcher last year was Harold Fannin, who's
their tight end, and did not have one receiver of
any kind go over seven hundred and fifty yards a year.
He's gonna get targets. He's gonna get targets. Well, will
he be successful?

Speaker 6 (37:07):
Who knows? You know what targets is?

Speaker 7 (37:08):
Okay, that's an official stat that means the quarterback through
in your general directions.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Right.

Speaker 6 (37:13):
He's also it might not have been catchable.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
They might throw his way five hundred times. Next year
he might catch ten with nobody else there.

Speaker 6 (37:23):
Here's the downside of that too.

Speaker 5 (37:24):
He's gonna get the number one cornerback on every team.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Right probably. Yeah, Well, Jerry Judy is still there. He's
been kind of a disappointment obviously.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
I mean, look like I said, good for him. Denzel
Boston Emerald Ridge drafted. Uh, thought he was gonna be
a first round guy, ends up falling out of the
first round and he goes thirty nine into the Browns. Overall,
the Chiefs just took Mason Thomas, by the way, the
edge rusher. He went to Kansas City, So Chiefs are
loading up on defense a little bit from Oklahoma. That

(37:57):
puts the Bengals now on the clock of forty one.
We're gonna break. We'll find out what the Bengals are
up to. We're about twenty picks or so away. Twenty
two picks away from the Seahawks being on the clock
at the end of the second round unless they move up,
unless they trade down. Our draft coverage continues next on
ninety three to three KJRFM.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
Now back to the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, presented
by Frost Broud, CORSLT Cold is the Rookies and brought
to you by Dino's Paul been written on Sports Radio
ninety three point three kjr FM.

Speaker 11 (38:32):
With the forty first pick in the twenty twenty six
NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select cashiust Hoe defensive end
Texas A and M.

Speaker 8 (38:43):
With the forty second pick in the twenty twenty six
NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select Kristin Miller d
tackled Georgia.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
All right, those were the last two picks of Round
two of the NFL Draft. We're back here at their
Virginia Mason Athletics Center, so the Dick Hugh Millin Anders
oh Anders back in the studio, Jackson taking over at
five o'clock.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Big thanks to Delta Airlines, Frost.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
Brewed Corps Light as Cold as the Rockies, Dinos pub
across the street here from US across four A five,
great spot to watch the draft. The last two picks
there in the second round cash is al edge rusher
A and M went to the Bengals at forty one,
Christian Miller defensive tackle Georgia to the Saints at forty two.
The Dolphins are now on the clock at number forty three,
which means the Hawks are twenty one picks away at

(39:31):
number sixty four in round number two. And there's some
players falling now, guys in this draft that might keep falling.
Who knows all the way to sixty four.

Speaker 5 (39:39):
Five corners on Rob Ring's second round list are left
four edge rushers, so twenty one picks left, and nine
of them are of the two biggest positions of.

Speaker 3 (39:50):
Does anybody know a team that needs an edge or corner?
I mean, what, Hugh, I think that is it Defcon
one or five? That's the most serious. One is the
most one? Okayst if running back was deaf con one?
Where's cornerback in your opinion? Because you got job, you
got Witherspoon, but you're missing that third guy. I mean
between uh Reek Wollen and Kobe Bryant, who safety obviously

(40:15):
you're talking like seventeen hundred snaps that just walked out
the door with My answer would either be two or three. Okay,
I probably lean towards two. So can I say two
point four?

Speaker 2 (40:26):
Isn't the difference between two and three?

Speaker 3 (40:28):
No, deaf Con two point four pending nuclear winner and
nuclear winners on the.

Speaker 6 (40:32):
Wall, No one is impending. Yes, where and a half?
I would be undecided to be two and three.

Speaker 7 (40:40):
And if you forced me to pick one, I would
say two on the freaks game.

Speaker 5 (40:44):
Okay, right, yeah, how about edge? Where are you on
the deaf Con edge rate scale.

Speaker 6 (40:49):
Between two and three?

Speaker 7 (40:51):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (40:52):
And you know, like almost exactly.

Speaker 7 (40:56):
Yeah, But just for giggles, I'll say, well, because like,
what are we talking about with that?

Speaker 3 (41:00):
Are we talking about somebody to set the edge? Are
we talking about somebody to get after the quarterback? Because
the Seahawks have Emon worry. Uh, They've got Shenna, They've
got Leonard Williams, obviously, they have Ernest Jones, They've they've
they've got.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
Guys that can get sacks. It was by a kind
of like a bi committee thing a year ago.

Speaker 3 (41:16):
So are we talking about needing somebody to literally set
the edge or are you looking for somebody to recavoc
in the backfield.

Speaker 7 (41:22):
Well, again, the profile for Mike McDonald is he needs
to have a guy that sets the edge, and he
puts more primacy on that. But boy Mafey had a
skill set where he was the worst edge setter, but
he was the twitchiest get up the field, turn the
hoop to the.

Speaker 2 (41:41):
Quarterback guy right right.

Speaker 7 (41:42):
So so you may look and say, is he inclined
it to Dick's point, is he inclined to say, let's
get a more rounded defensive end in in uh uh
in search of replacing Nuoso and d Law like sure, right?

Speaker 6 (42:00):
Or is he saying, no, we've got.

Speaker 7 (42:04):
Some edgesetters, but let's get a twitchy dude for third down,
a past or a specialist, because.

Speaker 5 (42:11):
You're always giving up something because if you get both,
if you get an edge setter and a freak pass rusher,
then they go on top five.

Speaker 7 (42:16):
You're not going, yeah, yeah, that's exactly right.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
Well yeah, And I mean the boy and Mafy thing
still just blows me out of the water.

Speaker 2 (42:23):
What's he getting paid per year?

Speaker 6 (42:24):
Twenty million?

Speaker 4 (42:25):
Unbelieva?

Speaker 2 (42:26):
Were you just like, what the hell d you have
that same reaction.

Speaker 7 (42:31):
Yeah, I would have thought it was you know, closer
to twelve or fourteen fifteen somewhere.

Speaker 5 (42:37):
Yeah, absolutely this dumb teams do dumb things.

Speaker 3 (42:40):
Seventy percent more than what we're kind of thinking is worth.
I mean, look, maybe he blows up there, right, Who knows,
maybe they use him differently and he blows up. I
don't know what that looks like, but maybe they do.
But Kenny Walker, you know, before that Rams game on
Thursday night, and kind of even after the Rams game
on Thursday night, nobody was talking about Kenny Walker and
mid November making fourteen and a half million dollars a year,
and then he blows up, and all of a sudden,

(43:02):
he's the biggest free agent.

Speaker 5 (43:03):
And I'm wondering, even if he hadn't blown up, let's
just say he had you know, let's just say he
was good Kenny Walker, and we still won the Super
Bowl and he was he was good, he was productive,
but he wasn't Super Bowl MVP. I still think the
way the market went, he's probably still in that twelve
to thirteen range. I just don't think there was There
was probably never a world where Ken Walker was going

(43:25):
to go for the money that we thought he was
gonna go for, which was ten.

Speaker 7 (43:29):
Yeah, I think that the Super Bowl tax. I think
often that's overstated because if Seattle had lost the NFC
Championship game, right, you tell me Kobe Bryant's contract with
the Bears would be significantly different. You tell me Reek
Willens would be significantly different.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
No, but something, he's Ken Walker's much.

Speaker 6 (43:56):
I know, Dick. That's where I was gonna get to.

Speaker 7 (43:58):
I was gonna say, I think that of the four
guys that left the Seahawks, I think three of them
would have been basically exactly what they had add.

Speaker 6 (44:09):
Or near exactly. The only one that I think there
there was a Super Bowl tax. Two was Canine? Right?
And to what degree we'll never know? Right, you can't
prove it, can't false.

Speaker 7 (44:20):
Finally, if you're if you're trying to create a hypothetical
where Seattle, let's say, doesn't win it and he obviously
he's not the Super Bowl MVP, Well, did we lose
the NFC Championship game? And and and we still have
all that tape of all the games up to the
Super Bowl, not including the Super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (44:40):
Right? Right?

Speaker 7 (44:41):
Was that truly the the uh the the distinguishing game
for Andy Reid.

Speaker 6 (44:49):
And and uh and and Brandon Breen.

Speaker 3 (44:52):
But I want to I want to play this pick here.
There's a reason why I'm doing it. The Lions have
moved up to forty four to take the Jets pick
from Dallas.

Speaker 2 (45:02):
Just to get you just a quick update and where
we are.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
Jacob Rodriguez, Texas tech linebacker went to the Dolphins at
forty three. The Lions now on the clock at forty
four with the pick that used to belong to Dallas
that went to the Jets, which is now in Detroit.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
Here's what the Lions did at forty.

Speaker 4 (45:17):
Four with the forty fourth pick in at two thousand
and twenty six NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions to let
Derek Moore defensive man Michigan.

Speaker 3 (45:28):
Okay, so there's a reason why I'm doing that. You
know why I'm doing that? Why do you think I'm
doing that? Why am I playing that?

Speaker 7 (45:33):
Therefore, because they was that that's the guy that the No,
the eleventh guy.

Speaker 2 (45:38):
He's not the guy Jay shan Up. Barrum was the guy.

Speaker 3 (45:41):
He's the eleventh guy that I right, I saw so,
so Barrm is the guy that you did talk about.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
Is that correct?

Speaker 6 (45:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (45:49):
Okay, well I didn't talk about him, I said, I said,
what the hell? Uh he was drafted in.

Speaker 3 (45:56):
The first round, which which Michigan defensive end. Is the
guy that you did not scout? Barm Barum. Okay, so
did you scout this guy?

Speaker 7 (46:05):
Yes, okay, I did ten because I thought, okay, ten
will be plenty for the first round, right, But then
but then I was like, there's that Michigan guy.

Speaker 2 (46:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (46:16):
So so Derek Moore would have been like the tenth guy.
Barhim would have been the eleventh guy. But Barham's the
guy that went in our mock. So Aiden Hutchinson now
gets a compliment and Derek Moore from Michigan to go
play with him. Yeah, stays home for thee Yeah. He's
needed to be.

Speaker 7 (46:32):
Uh a guy.

Speaker 6 (46:35):
They need a guy his win rate thirty.

Speaker 2 (46:39):
Yeah, elite, right, so good for them.

Speaker 7 (46:42):
Yeah yeah, uh but you know, look what but he
you know, he didn't test, so there's some questions about
his athleticism, so his his efficiency is there.

Speaker 6 (46:55):
Uh, they're just wondering whether or not that's gonna trends.

Speaker 2 (46:57):
All right, well let's do this.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
