the twenty twenty six NFL Draft resumes less than twelve
hours after it ended last night, says Ian Furnesced with
you here at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center. Yeah, the
draft is live from Pittsburgh. We're live from the Virginia
Mason Athletics Center on the shores of Lake Washington on
what looks to be a gorgeous day. My guy Rob

rang is here. We've turned to Hugh millin loose. He's
like the commissioner, like Roger Goodell. No need to be
here on day three, so as you and me, buddy
for like the fifteenth Street year. And here we go, Buddy,
Good to see you, man, to see you as well.
All right, let's gotta go through. We got coming up
today and again thanks for joining us. I know this fun.
First of all, I'm gonna be Jess. I think we

need a seat belt here because my guy here is
looking outside at that sunshine thinking there's a lake and
he's got a fishing pole in the car and he's
ready to rock and roll, right I do in the car.
That's gonna be an issue. All right, here's what's coming
up today. Seahawks have two picks right now schedule, the
seventh thaught pick in the sixth round and the thirty
fifth pick in the sixth round. So yes, not until

(01:24):
the sixth round. We'll recap what they've done so far, Rob,
and I'll kind of go ahead back and just look
back to the last night. If I mean, listen, stuff's
happened the last night. Kid, you're running around chasing kids,
doing stuff, having fun. We'll catch you up on everything
that happened yesterday on day two and what's happened so
far in the draft, and then also look ahead to
what could happen later on today with the Seahawks. Right now,

(01:46):
it appears to be a very quiet day ahead of us.
Corbyn Smith will joint. Do you know Corbyn Smith? Have
I introduced to him before? Yeah, okay, okay, I'm not
sure if you know Hi Ameral City Spectrum. Robin Corman
for those who't know, do a podcast together, great Locked
on Seahawks podcast. Corban's gonna join us coming up here
at nine to twenty or so. He nailed some picks,
is that right? Did he nail some picks before he

(02:07):
comes on and just starts pumping his chest out. Did
he nail some picks?

Speaker 3 (02:10):
And we actually both had Jenderion Price, you know, the
Notre Dame running back of course in the first round,
but in our little Juelian mock drafts, he also had
Julian Neal, the cornerback from Arkansas as the Sea Howle's
third round selection number nine six overall, he didn't project
the trade down, so okay, good, you know good. Otherwise
he can walk in here with too much of an

(02:31):
ego and wanted to be able to fit that head
through the door. Yeah, but yees, he deserves some credit
for nailing that selection.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
I love it all right. And then coming up at
ten o'clock, I think if you missed the last night
was late last night. We heard from John Schneider and
Mike McDonald after day two, and there's a lot to
discuss with the two players they picked yesterday in Day two,
we got some of the answers from them yesterday, and
so forth again. Pick number six or pick number seven
in the sixth row and pick number thirty five in

(02:57):
the six round. Those are both expected to happen maybe
sometime after twelve, right yep. Yeah, Well we're a ways
away potentially from the Seahawks doing anything. I say potentially
because you just never know, John Schneider, and let's just
start there before I look back. We discussed this last night, Rob.
Right now, just the two picks today left to go

(03:20):
in the twenty twenty six draft, But what do they
have next year which could translate to more activity today.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Well, they've got all those compensatory selections as well as
all of their seven native picks, so they're expected to
have twelve draft picks in the twenty twenty seven draft.
It's a much richer class. I've already been working on
a mock draft for twenty twenty seven, if you can
believe that, I can, And it does look like a
much better draft class. And so I understand the hesitancy

(03:48):
to trade selections out of that class. But if you
are looking for, you know, some bang for your buck,
right now, then I do think that Seatle might be
willing to package some of their picks next year to
get back into this draft.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Okay, so we'll kind of keep an eye on things
right now. We're expecting a quiet couple three hours, but
that's good for us to kind of recap and discuss
and and look back and look ahead. And we'll do
that with Rob as well. What could be up there
in the sixth round. It's an inch. We've been talking
about this with Rob since basically early September of last year,
and here we are on the final day, Day three

(04:20):
of the twenty twenty six NFL draft as well. All right,
let's kind of look here at what has happened so far. Thursday,
of course, Day one, Jedarian Price, the running back out
of Notre Dame, gets selected by Seattle thirty second pick. Overall,
they stay in that first round, they picked Jadarian Price,
and they get the Basically, now, the thought is it's like, okay,

(04:42):
well he'll share some time, He'll share the load one.
Zach Charbona is healthy. Probably no doubt though that he's
should be RB one at some point.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Oh, I think he's gonna be RB one right now. Basically,
you know, I just think that his skill set fits
in so well. That's the reason why, you mean, that's
the justification for selecting or running back that early when
you only had you know, four selections, and then certainly
was Zach Sharberney coming back that you know, he's coming
off of a significant knee injury. We're talking about likely

(05:12):
in November, you know, so the season is going to
be well underway by the time that Zach Sharberney is
reasonably expected to be back. George Halaonnie's the heck of
a back. Emmanuel Wilson as Welsh Cardier, Right, I mean,
Seatle's got running backs, but I just don't know that
they have very many that have the breakaway speed a
Jadarim Price possesses. And that's the reason why he select
him number thirty two.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Then yesterday, to recap what the Seahawks did, they took
Bud Clark with the thirty second pick in the second round,
sixty fourth overall. He's a safety out of TCU, a
little bit slightly built in a sense. But let's talk
about Bud Clark. We discussed him a lot last night,
and everyone's had time to kind of digest that what
are they getting in Bud Clark.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
They're getting an absolute ballhawk. I mean, my goodness. I
watched his tape again last night, as I did with
Julian Neil, the cornerback selected in the third round, and
Ian I cannot It is hard to articulate how much
how instinctive that Bud Clark is, how cagy he is
with his arms. I mean, he has long arms, an

(06:15):
excellent hand eye coordination. There were just so many plays
on tape in which it looked like that he was beaten.
It looked like there is about to be a big
play by the offense. Instead he was able to tip
the pass away or steal it himself. He had fifteen interceptions,
a couple they took back to the house. I remember
one against Michigan and JJ McCarthy that was a pick

(06:36):
six that, you know, again, just shows his anticipation, It
shows his hand eye coordination. There are so many tip
passes that other teammates made big plays on as well.
When you have a defense as talented as the Seahawks
inserting this young man into the middle of it, I
think that it's gonna wind up being one of the
real home run selections. Of this entire draft, not just
for the Seahawks but around the league.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Is he a Kobe Bryant replacement.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
I think that he might be a Kobe Bryant upgrade.
And I know that that is a bold statement, but
I'm telling you, the ball skills this young man possesses
are just truly remarkable. I'm really excited about the big
play potential that he offers.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
All right, and then the Seahawks finished off Day two
yesterday with the ninety ninth pick overall, that's the thirty
fifth pick in the third round. They did trade down
three spots and gained a pick in round number six,
So they did do that round number six, as the
pick they gained was number two sixteen overall, the thirty
fifth pick. In round six, they traded up and are

(07:32):
traded down. They did pick up Julian Neal, a cornerback
out of Arkansas, and he is full of bravada. We'll
hear from him a little later in the show today.
If you missed it last night, you thought Richard Sherman
had the ability to talk a little bit smack as
a cornerback, this guy took it to a different level
than even Shirm did. And that's saying something, But what
are they getting to the player and Julian Neil.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Well, what's funny as they just talked about there with
the safety Bud Clark, who at six point one, one
hundred and eighty eight, he's almost built a little bit
more like a corner and Julian Neal at six two
two o five is built a little bit more like
a safety, and he certainly hits like a safety. That
was one of the things that I was I was
watching the tape and kind of reviewing him last night.

(08:15):
You know, just a physicality. I mean, he it's funny.
They'll th'll do little wide receiver screens or runs to
his side and he will throw down would be blockers
and ball carriers. It's almost like he's looking at them
afterwards like you're being disrespectful by even coming into my
area with this kind of nonsense. And so I just
you understand how the Seahawks were so enamored with the

(08:37):
physicality this young man possesses. He only had sixteen career
starts at the college level, so this is very much
a projection of what he could be. But when you
go from Fresno State to Arkansas, you step up your
game going to the SEC and then you play your
best football. It's easy to get excited about what this
young man could be.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
All right, let's look ahead round six. You've been telling
us again since September our weekly visits on Fridays, big
thanks and shout out to our friends at for Elli's Pizza.
By the way, but you've been telling us that's September
not the deepest draft, especially compared to what's coming up
next year or maybe what we saw last year. So
John Schneider, as we well know, does and has done

(09:18):
over the years, a lot of damage. Today on the
Saturdays when you and I sit here in the back
of the room and wait for things to happen, and
it's been a flurry of activity. Guys like AJ Barner
recently and others have been selected on this day that
have become impact players for this football team. But right now,
he waits until around twelve or so. And also, by
the way, we'll keep you update on what's going on elsewhere,

(09:40):
anything significant that pops up in the draft, names that
you need to know or and we've got one already
which we'll get to in a second. But as far
as Day three and round six, what would they be
looking at in terms of quality.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Well, that's the thing is that you know, when you're
waiting all the way into the sixth round, then you're
going to be basically taking best player available. Now, I
would argue that cornerback is still a positional group that
the numbers suggest that you want to add some more talent.
You know, the Seattle only has six corners currently on
their roster. They entered the draft with five, and then
of course they selected the aforementioned Julie and Neil. They've

(10:16):
got eight safeties when you include Bud Clark, they've got
fourteen linebackers. Now, grand some of those linebackers are the
edge rushers and then some of our off ball linebackers.
But still, cornerback is typically one of the positional groups
for most NFL teams in which they have the highest numbers,
and the Seahawks have among the lowest totals of corners
in all of the NFL teams out there. So I

(10:38):
do think that that is still perhaps a position of
concern in terms of numbers. But when we're getting into
the sixth rounding and you're gonna be taking the best
player available, and of course he remains to be seeing
what's going to happen over these next one hundred picks
or so.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
All right, we'll get Corbin here in just a couple seconds.
Let me just tell you I said we will keep
you updated on things that do happen. Round four is underway.
The first pick in round four, the one hundred first
pick over all in round four, is a player we
talked about before the Seahawks took Neil last night, and
that would be Jamad McCoy, the cornerback out of Tennessee.
He injured his knee in January of twenty twenty five,

(11:14):
sat out all of last season, and then there were
some red flags medically along the way. We did discuss
would Seattle'll take a flyer on this guy because Rob,
if healthy, he would be probably a guy that would
have gone very early in the draft. But the Raiders
take him. The Vegas Raiders take him with the one
hundred first pick overall, the first pick today on Day three.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Yeah, and it's funny. In the years in the past,
it was always the fifth round. It was kind of
the spot where teams were a little bit more willing
to roll the dice on a player. You know, whether
it be a character concern, a medical concern, something like that.
Fifth round was kind of the round that you could
gamble on. You know. Here we are in a twenty
twenty sixth draft that has been widely panned as maybe

(11:55):
lacking a little bit of talent, So it makes sense
that that might jump up to the fourth round where
teams are a little bit more willing to gamble. And
you know, speaking of gambling, I mean, who better than
Las Vegas to be the team exactly right?

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yeah, how concerning are his injuries?

Speaker 3 (12:10):
That's the thing is that for him to follow this far,
they've got to be very concerning, you know. But at
the same time, when the talent is significant enough. But yeah,
same time he used the term degenerative. This is not,
I don't believe related to the torn acl which ended
or which kept him sideline for the entire twenty twenty
five season. He was expected to work out at the

(12:33):
Combine because it had been more than a calendar year
since his injury, and when he did not work out,
of course, he still did the medical evaluation in Indianapolis,
and that's where this was flagged. And so the fact
that he was then asked to go back to the
combine and recheck a couple of weeks later in Indianapolis,
and that's when NFL team started getting a little bit

(12:54):
nervous about what exactly was going on with Jermal McNeil.
But clearly it's it's something or Jermal McCoy excuse me,
clearly is something that is significant enough to basically eliminate
him from teams boards for the first two days of
the draft.

Yeah, ro Rob and I every year it's kind of
a buddy buddy competition, and he smoked me last year
for Seattle Fix.

But this year two of the three so far, so
maybe get one more today?

Which ones you deal?

I got Julian Neil almost exactly the same pick I
had him in ninety six, and then both of us
had a price going to Seattle.

With our first selections.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Very good, very good. Well let's let's start there. Let's
we've talked about it, Robin for people who missed it,
Let's get your thoughts first on Jadari and Price and
Corman jump in after.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Yeah, I just love the fit. I mean, he is
a player that, you know, I think is perfectly sued
to the wide zone offense that Seattle runs. I think
that you know, his his size at five to eleven,
two hundred and five pounds, you know he had when
you here are those numbers, he sounds a little bit slight,
but when you watch him his balance through contact, the

(16:05):
fact that he was a very productive, you know, touch
guy in the red zone, and so we wanted premier
touchdown guys in all the country. Even though he was
basically used as a you know, as a complimentary threat
to Jeremiah Love, he went number three overall. I think
there's just so much untapped potential with him. He wasn't
asked to be a receiver out of the backfield, and

(16:27):
yet those are that's a skill set that I think
that he absolutely possesses. I think that Cele's offensive coordinator
Brian Florey is going to take full advantage of.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Yeah, look, you've seen what the NFL thinks of this
running back draft class.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
There was three.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
Running backs total picked in the first three rounds. Jennaring
Price is an explosive playmaker. And I've mentioned this on
social I'm gonna mention it again here, my cop. I
think he's a lighter, faster Sean Alexander. I think he
has that gliding running style that dude, the one cut,
get inside, make a guy miss, and then the ability

(17:05):
to take at the distance. And for people that don't
remember how Sean Alexander played for Seattle in the prime
of his career, just go watch that Vikings game on
Monday Night Football that he scored like eighteen touchdowns.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
Okay, that's the.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Kind of guy we're talking about here.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
Janarian Price scored a touchdown almost nine percent of his
touches at Notre Dame.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
That's a ridiculous number. When he three of the twenty
two kick returns that he had went for touchdowns. He
had three receiving touchdowns and only had fifteen catches.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
In his entire college career. I mean, the.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
Dude is a scoring machine. That is why you pick
him at number thirty two overall.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Rob What the concerns, but the questions I guess would
be with him is receiving out of the backfield.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Yeah, and again I don't think that they're well founded.
I think that they're based off of people who didn't
watch tape. They looked at the stats. Numbers, yeah, exactly,
the numbers, yeah, they you know, because he I think
he said Gorman that he had what fifteen catches over
his college career touchdown exactly. And so because you only
have the fifteen you know, receptions, you know, in three

(18:12):
seasons of playing at Notre Dame, then then people are
going to automatically just assume that he doesn't have good hands.
But you know, why would he have been their kick returner,
which he had three kickoff returns for touchdowns by the way,
why would he have been their kick returner if they
if the you know, if the team didn't didn't believe
that he had reliable hands of the backfield. I just

(18:33):
think that this is a case of a of a
player not being asked to do it. But when you
watch him on tape, as I did, I didn't see drops.
I saw comfort collecting the football and then being able
to get the uh, get himself positioned to be able
to make people miss or run around through them if
if necessary, once he collected the football. So again I

(18:54):
have very little concern about that. The only concern I
guess I would have about him is the fact that
he just hasn't been asked to be kind of the
bell cow, and that's a I think that's a fair
uh concern. Otherwise, based on just pure talent, I think
that he deserved to be selected earlier than number thirty
two overall.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
But I would counter that he's fresh, He's got fresh
legs exactly. Yeah, and you know you can make it.
We'll see what happens. But you could make an argument
based on landing spot for those two Notre Dame running backs,
like I'm fascinated to see what their careers look like
the next four or five years.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Well, you've got a solid offensive line here, right, And really,
I would say in improving by the day offensive line
here Jalen Sundell as you went on, became very you know,
well established and solidified at center, and Zabel will go
into his second year. Cross by all accounts, had maybe
his best season with Seattle. Last season was really I

(19:47):
think Across and Lucas healthy for the first time, the
two of them, the first time they have been healthy
together since their rookie seasons. Right, So you've got obviously
the right guard position, Bradford, Yes, no, whatever, not a
time for the debating that today. But but you've got
that offense line. I don't think that Love has that
same stuff going on in Arizona, right.

Speaker 5 (20:08):
No, he doesn't have the supporting cast.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
They're going to be putting everything on his shoulders, Jadarian Price,
it's going to be, hey, we need you to come in.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
We've already got all these weapons on the outside.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
By the way, we've got the offensive player of the
year on the outside. So he's pretty good.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
You're gonna get You're gonna get some nice boxes to
run against it. And I just think his that gliding
style of his I just think is an excellent fit.
And he had zero drops in his costure. I know
it's a limited sable size, but you turn on the tape.
The guy's got smooth pass. He's got well.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
And Rob brought it up right after you get draft.
In fact, actually Rob brought it up in our pre
draft conversations a month ago last March, and you said it,
you said, Marcus Freeman's not putting him back there to
return kicks. If there's a question about his hands, it's
just he just didn't have the opportunities because again, wait
for it. What happened? Oh that's right, he was playing
behind the number three overall pick who's a very very

(20:58):
good receiver, really good player, Rob Bud Clark. Let's go
back down that road. That could Corban jump back in.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Yeah, so Bud Clark again. The talk about ball skills,
you know, we just talked about that with Jadarion Price.
I mean Bud Clark to me is you know, absolutely
dynamic defensive player in terms of just getting his hands
on footballs. I mean he the past breakups that he
created in the interceptions fifteen career interceptions, some of them

(21:25):
of the just fantastic you know quality. I mean, when
you watch them, you see a guy that has makeup
speed that he has a really intriguing ability to kind
of snake his hand in there at the very last
second to slap the ball the way or to be
able to tip it up to a defender or again
make the interception himself two pick pick six's. You know,

(21:46):
I just see a dynamic talent, especially as Corbyn just
mentioned with Jadarion Price and just the supporting cast that
the that he is going to be playing with in Seattle,
the supporting cast, the Bud that you know the Bud
Clark is going to be inserted into in Seatt. I
think it's going to create that many more trover opportunities
for him and his teammates.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
He was my closest cop to Kobe Bryant in this
draft class. He has a lot of the same traits,
the ball hawking ability, the instincts undercutting routes, and he
is hyper aggressive on that front. And that's why I
asked Mike McDonald yesterday after the draft, like, is there
a balancing act there, because there's a few times on
film that he's gotten he's paid for that aggressiveness, but

(22:26):
more time than not, those that ball savvy and the
ability to be able to jump routes has paid dividends
for him and you don't want to take that playmaking
ability away from him.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
So Rob brought up as just as a safety. I
mean again, Kobe Bryant was a converted corner to safety
might be an upgrade when it's all said.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
And done, he could be.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
The biggest key is going to be health and he's
had some durability issues, though that was more early in
his career. Slightly built, He's slightly built, but I'll tell
you what this guy isn't just you know there, you
have to look at actual film to see how production
is put on. On the stat line, this guy's got
some insane.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
Pass breakups on his film.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
And there was one that was floating around last night
that i'd seen when they were playing I think it
was two years ago against USC in a Bowl game
in the end zone. That it was a perfectly thrown
pass and he he leaped up in the air and
extended his arm and knocked it away and it was
just it was a highlight reel pass breakup.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
But that's what you're gonna get from him.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
I think he's gonna be fun to mix and match
in the slot too, exactly.

Speaker 5 (23:30):
And that's where I actually think.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
He's got better tools to be a slot corner than
Kobe Bryant did.

Speaker 5 (23:36):
He's a much more athletic player.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
He It was funny because I was watching tape of
him last night, and you know, I remember him playing
back as a safety because he was at TCU for
quite some time. But he did play a lot of
that that slot nickel position, and he excelled in that regard,
playing a lot of man demand. And so when you
think about that was one of the things that I
was curious to see how I would approach the fact

(24:01):
that you have a division arrival in the Sansco Fortia
nine Ers, who, of course brought in one of the
great post up kind of receivers in NFL history of
Mike Evans, Like, would Seattle try to bring in a bigger,
taller corner that might be able to kind of match
up with him? Obviously they already have, you know, some
very good corners in Josh Job and of course Devil Witherspoon,
But still I want to see if they would get

(24:22):
another big guy. Bud Clark has that ability, as does
their next selection, Julian Neil.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Let's get to Julian Neil. He was the final selection

The Arizona. Cardinals the same thing here With, halton and he's,
undersize but he's, very very quick and he can be

a penetrator when you consider the rest of the forty
nine ers, defense similar to what we've been talking about
with jedari On price and But clark and how they're
being implemented or integrated into a system that has all
kinds of. Playmakers grace And halton has a chance to
be a splashy player for the forty nine ers consider

over the, years and they've had some absolute, disasters and
yet at the same, time look at that, team they're

obviously The rams are very talented and so it would
be difficult to crack the starting. Lineup BUT i thought
that their linebacker play a year ago with deficient that to,
me this is one of that's one of the strengths
of this draft class to not get a linebacker uh
so far and to you, know be drafting basically just

adding to positions of already their, strengths like a, quarterback
like a tight. End he's you, Know Max claire is
the sixth tight end now on their. Roster sixteen personnel
is in. Vogue you, KNOW i mean last year they
selected you, Know Tanner ferguson was you know right there
with last. Year royal is like the very first tight
ends that were, selected and so to kind of go

back and do it all over again with another tight,
end it just doesn't make an awful lot of sense to.
Me to, me what it suggests is that less need
and And sean McVay are basically kind of not necessarily
as much in lockstep as WHAT i think that is
here in The Virginia Mason Athletics center between the general
