Well, I'm looking down Stuart kind of towards Fit right now,
and Stuart's even starting to fill up. But people are
going east away from Fourth Avenue, so I don't know
how these people going east are gonna see much. I'm
looking about half a block to the other side of me,
away from Fourth Avenue, and there's there's people jamming up
against the buildings going both ways, going western Stewart and

going east on Stuart, So you got people coming in
from all angles down here. I was just actually told
by somebody working the event that street access is going
to be cut off once the parade starts. And my
response is that, yeah, that's not gonna happen. We're gonna
be jumping in the street. We're gonna do exactly what
we did twelve years ago. And if I get arrested,
I'm certain that rich More and kJ R will bail

a high school sophomore, high school junior, fourteen, fifteen years old,
you really don't have any clue what this thing was
all about.

So for them, they're experiencing what you and I did
for the very first time as Seahawk fans.

So I don't have a lot of real memories from
that parade obviously, besides what I read and saw in
books and newspaper articles and things like that. So, you know,
Jackson said it earlier that we talked about this on
the radio show yesterday, Seattle is now growing up. I mean,
you always want to leave this thing better than when
you found it. You know, not that you and I

had a damn thing to do with it, for God's sakes,
but you know, this is a whole generation that will
grow up with a much different perception of Seattle as
a sports fan.

Than what you and I did.

Right when You've got you know, three championships and the
Big four Sports, two Lombardi Trophies, and a chance and
a lot more. With where the Seahawks are positioned at
right now, hopefully the ms cracking joining them down the
road as well. This just feels totally different I think
for an eleven twelve year old kid that it did
for you and I growing up in the late seventies

And that's the cool thing about this for me, And
that's what I really love about what the Seahawks are
doing right here, is it's just changing everything about our town.

Like it's noon, it's sunny out. There's a zillion people
out here. But you know what, there's a ton of kids.
You know, for every parent, there's a couple of kids.
And you know when I went when the Sonics won
the title, I was in eighth grade. Our Lady of
fatam of high School or Ladyman Flatiam in elementary school

in Magnolia, and I was telling Mark James of the
day I go, Yeah, I just skip school. I didn't
skip school because I was going to a Catholic school.
If you couldn't do that, my parents had to say, Okay,
you can jump on the nineteen you have you can
up on the nineteen bus and head down with your buddies,
Tim Clark and Mike Taft, and we went downtown and
we went and were part of the parade. And the
part that you got me there, buddy, is this all

these kids that are around you and Ashley and Jackson
and I see walking up and down the street. That
was me. That was me all those years ago. I
was lucky enough. I was lucky enough to be old
enough to enjoy it as a kid. I know, like
you and Dick and others too young to enjoy it
as a kid. Now enjoying it an adults awesome, Like
we are enjoying this as an adult, and that's awesome.

But I'm looking out here. There's five kids just walk
by with a couple groups of parents. These kids, these
kids are gonna be die hard Seahawks fans and probably
Mariner fans, and hopefully sonic fans and cracking fans for
the rest of their lives because they're experiencing this and
the joy that I had that day, Softy, of watching
my guys dj JJ, Downtown, Freddie Brown, Jack Sikma, the

Lenny walking and just seeing them and being up close
to them. They're rock stars and these guys are going
to enjoy that here in just a couple of minutes. Man,
this is a special day. Yeah, never get wild. Hopefully

need one of these for the World Series. We need

got all four Majors and we can say that's there.

some of these people have been down here since like
five o'clock in the morning. I gotta be honest with you.
A quick shout out by the way too. I know

we beat up on them a lot, you know, s
dot ws dot. They had everything set up, everything went great,
no problems on I five getting off Mercer. I'm not
hearing any horror stories about traffic yet. I'm sure there's
a few of them out there. I risked my life
and went and parked to the radio station and jumped
on a line scooter and came all the way down
here from elliett Avenue and I had no problems whatsoever.

So everything going well so far. There's about one hundred
and fifty officers on the parade route itself right now.
Jackson mentioned an officer from Tacoma up to work. I
was just talking to a gentleman from Ireland County who's
representing the state Patrol today. They're bringing them in from
all over the region to work this thing, to keep
everybody safe. We got the obligatory beach ball going back

and forth right now. People are sitting on the on
the stop lights and the street lights and everything soft.

There's movement, there's activity. There's twelve chance because finally we
see police cars and flags. They're leading the parade coming
right up. They're right at the intersection at James and
Fourth right now, flashing lights and fans are getting louder
and louder because I think Ian we're finally getting it.
There's a police suv with flashing lights and another car

behind it with about six flags on it, with various
City States United States flag helicopters flying overhead. We there
are two helicopters flying overhead right now with coverage.

Right now, they're looking for Safty. Behind them they're looking
for they're making sure Safty doesn't jump into the parade
route and give away his phone or a microphone.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Again. I think is that they're worried about. That's what
they're worried Safty.

I don't know where the odds are on Safty losing
that thing, but he's gonna lose it today. I bet
I heard that. There's I heard that Ernest Jones even
got out of the bus and is walking down the street.
I'll tell you what, And if Ernest Jones walks by me,
I'm just gonna hand him my phone. I don't know
where my phone will end up, but I'll just hand
him it. Have put him on with you.

Here's the procession as right now, the color guard and
the flags are making their way right up in front
of City Hall. Right now, looks like there's a big
orchestra right behind the flags. Following that some cars. I
can look down past just out the City Hall pass
south of James Street and see some cars behind that

as well, as flags are waving and fans are going
crazy just to block south. And we are just moments away,
and I see these the Seahawks, Dan Cruz right behind
the orchestra, and they are all just slowly, slowly inching
their way up here next to City Hall.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
Jackson, Who who do we think? Is it gonna be
Jody Allen, John Schneider? Who's in the first? Uh, I'm curious.
I'm assuming it might be Jody in the first in
the first caravan, the first, but the first car that's
coming up their military vehicles, right, If I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 6 (10:38):
Yep, yeah, I would. I would put my money on
Jody for sure. But so far, and I cannot see
the cars that actually have the Seahawks. There's just a
fair amount of city officials and police cars and the again,
the bands, the dancers before any Seahawks vehicles yet. But
the entire it doesn't. I don't even think it matters

if they're Seahawks, if they're city people, if they're dancers.
Everybody's treating it like this is just one big party.
And again I'll reiterate it. Right here alongside, We're about
now twelve rows deep of people. I haven't been able
to move in in about two and a half hours,
again very much regretting the extra water bottle I drank.
We have people up on lampposts, people up on the walls,

and we have the Arctic Hotel right across here from
Fourth and Sherry. People on the rooftop of air a
dozen dozens of people on the rooftop of buildings on
Third Avenue that are looking all the way over here
to Fourth Avenue. Just every edge of this street you
can get his packed. Police can't even get people to
climb off the lamp posts and the walls at those points.

They tried earlier, but now there's just too many people
lining the walls and these and these lamp posts. There's
just too many to get down. There's a kid, probably
about a twelve year old, who's up on a lamp
post right behind me right now, and he's his chill
and he's just videotaping, taking pictures of the whole thing.
Well thirty minutes ago, three police officers would have been

streaming to get him down right now, he's just chilling
having a good time as once again this police vehicle
with flashing lights right in front of me, with the
color guard and the band and the dances right behind him.
They're going about a half mile per hour, not even
one mile per hour, just inching their way here up
Fourth Avenue as this parade really gets underway here next

to City Hall.

I love it. You know what sounds like Chris listening
to you, and from Softy and a little bit from
Ashley she's at the end.

But of the parade route Jackson, it feels.

Like the cool thing about what I'm hearing and what
I'm seeing and everything else. Everyone's just having a good time.
There's no stupidity everyone the police. The police don't have
to do anything. They can just kind of chill them
by the way, like Softie said, shout out to all
the first responders and s DOT the city as a whole.

I heard the roll call this morning was five am
for SPD. Somebody texted that in this morning that they
at a five am role call at SPD headquarters to
get out there. But everything that seems to be going well,
And you know, I'm listening for all of our you know,
ills of the world right now. Shout out to SPD
and the city as a whole for making this thing

so far so damn good. It worked well.

He and I can report here that a gentleman has
climbed up on a lamp post three times. He's wearing
a Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim hat and a red shirt,
and he has just been put in handcuffs, and he
has been walked south along Fourth Avenue by a road guard,
by the dancers, by the band, and a so it
looks like an angel fan. I don't know if he's

wearing an Angels had. He's certainly not wearing any Seahawks gear.
He has been put in handcuffs and led away from
the party, And you're right, I mean, it is just
a massive celebration. The coolest thing was there's a few
different areas where footballs are being thrown from the west
side of Fourth Avenue to the east side of Fourth
Avenue and back, and it's just anybody who catches it
throws it back, doesn't matter whose football it is. Everybody

just having a time. Like the color guard is passing
right now with dozens of flags for the police departments,
for the state, for the city, United States, the color Guard,
A couple dozen people slowly walking by.

Seahawks organization yet?

We have not spotted anybody yet. But here comes the
Seahawks dancers and Blue.

to twelve people deep. Now it is filled in a
ton since I got here about forty five minutes ago.
You were talking about how cool it is for all
the kids. So I did grab a couple of kids

we have a ton of kids up and down occidental.

We actually had a couple of football games going on
in the road. ASPD just shut that down now. I
think it's the parade is actually underway. But we have

Yeah, I just got my side of the first Seahawks
vehicle of the end, and I see confetti falling from
the bridge down Fourth Avenue just south of James Street.
As I'm seeing the first military vehicle, the first transporter
with about four big white Seahawks flags waving from the
side of it. It's coming up north from Fourth Avenue

right now, slowly and the confetti falling. It looks like, yeah,
I see if the police officers saying they're coming so
We are just now about a block and a half
away from the first vehicle reaching us here in front
of City hally In.

I'm gonna keep it with you, Jackson here just for
a second. I'm just some of the different news stations
showing some video I know you mentioned. I think Jessman
was telling us that Ernest Jones he was done with it.
He got out of the vehicle, started running up and
down the street a little bit at the start of
the parade route. AJ Barner is doing the same thing
right now. Who's I'm just gonna go out.

On a limb right now.

AJ Barner is going to be a rock star in
this town, Like if he's not already, he is going
to be a rock star in this town. This dude
gets it. His just bravado, his attitude, borderline offensive lineman slash.
Of course, he's a tight end, but he's got an
offensive lineman's attitude. This dude is enjoying every second of it.
He's in fact out where I'm watching this at the
start of the parade route, and AJ Barner is having

all kinds of fun right now, Jackson. So we think
the first one is just a block or so from you,
is that right?

Speaker 6 (19:36):
Just about a block and a half away. In it
is the first con first part of the convoy is
moving very slowly towards James Street, towards the intersection that's
just south of City Hall. And there's again this confetti's
flying all over. I'm not sure where the confetti's coming
from at this point. It's like they're shooting it out
of the military vehicle in the front of the pack.
There's scoured logos, but I believe it's the Super Bowl

sixty logo on each one of these flags. There's twelve logos. Again,
there's about twelve rows of people deep on both the
east and west side of Fourth Avenue right now, people
on lamp post, people on the walls. Police doing their
best to get people down from that. But it's just
fairly working. But yeah, right now, that first convoy with seahawks.
Some I can't even tell who's in that first vehicle.

They are right now coming up towards James Street. Right now,
it's very very slowly going this. You know, it's much
slower than it was twelve years ago. Twelve years I
remember they were going south on Fourth Avenue towards the stadium,
A because the whole thing was flipped. This was going
a their bit faster twelve years ago. They're going much
slower this year, and that's going to be great for

the what I think is million people out here in
Seattle today on just a perfect, perfect day here in
the northwest.

Jackson. You know why they're going slower because last time
it was seventeen degrees out and everyone wanted to get
this damn thing downe and over with.

It's just perfectly and I tell you what, it's about
fifty degrees right now. The sun's been on our spy
in front of City Hall for about an hour. As
I can see by the way, the first vehicle now
in the intersection at James Street. The flags, the white flags,
four life flags in this first vehicle that have the
Super Bowl logo with champions underneath it. We have two
police motorcycles that are passing by right now to clear

the way. Some media people with photographs and cameras passing
by us right now just taking pictures of the very
start of the convoy. I can see that in the
first vehicle. I can't tell faces yet, Ian, but I
can tell Blitz when I see Blitz, and Blitz is
in the first vehicle right now, he's in front of us,
just going crazy. I can tell because there's only one

as a mascot head. There's military personnel now walking by
with these police officers with everybody's heads are turned down,
just waiting for this first vehicle to drive here with
Blitz and what might be Seahawks leadership in there is
just starting up right next to City Hall right now,
and everybody's going to be trying to see who's in

this first first vehicle. There looks to be about about
fifteen people inside of there, and Blitz, who's just going nuts,
just jumping around in the middle of this convoy right now.
Let's see who's in this of Blitz.

in the front of the first vehicle in all right, right,
let's see if let's see if we can get a
little bit closer here is it's just inching its way
up here right past city Hall. They got twelve flags
hanging off of this first convoy vehicle and the crowds
starting to make noise as the first vehicle passes here.

but if we could, you can just use your normal

cheers and stuff, we'll get a little feel for how

I believe it's actually Blitz's little brother. Don't know what
the name of that other mascot is, but he's in
this first convoy with some Seahawks leadership, trying to see

west side of Fourth Alb, just getting people all riled up.
It is the Flitz van actually is passing by right now.
Blitz is on the stage of dancing right on Fourth Avenue,
flowing confetti in the air. Now we know where the
confetti's coming from. It's coming from Flitz. He's just puffing
off confetti one bottle after another. As Blitz is leading

this crude I think now we are getting to some
Seahawk players in personnel, because I can look down towards
Shame Street on the other end of City Hall and
there is some massive cheering going on right now at
the intersection of James and Forts, as some the real
big convoys are coming through and the crowd are getting loud.

these vehicles look fairly similar at the moments, big transport
vehicles that can fit a dozen people on the bed

on a one of the convoy vehicles, and a player

grabbed it. Don't know if they immediately drank it or not,
but they sure pocketed it and then they passed by

second parade. Yeah, we've been through so much flipping heartbreak

in this town sports wise. We don't have to get
into all that now. But with that as kind of
a backdrop, Softy, put a bow on this. What it
means because I'm gonna say this, and I mean this
from the bottom of my heart. I love you to death.
People always say, what's it like to be Softy? I said,
He's what you see is what you get.

He is Seattle's biggest sports Fanmil's passionate sports fan. He
is you who is listening right now? So, Softy, what
does this mean to you?

Yeah, well we've arrived, man.

I mean, think about where you were when you were
eleven twelve years old, what we had in this city
and what we have now.

There's twelve year old's thirteen year olds here that.

Will have no idea what it's like to grow up
and be the butt of jokes across the country, be losers,
finishing in last place, not playing for championships, not playing
for titles. I've said this many times that for me,
growing up, things like this were not for me.

The Super Bowl was not for me.

The final four Stanley Cupps World Series, those things are
not for me. And now the Seahawks have shown there's
no reason why all that cannot be what Seattle is
all about. And they're leading the way, and I think
they're an inspiration for every franchise.

The way they do things, the way they operate, the
way they treat people, the way they draft, the way
they take care of their employees, their passion they've got
for winning.

An Apple's to Orange's comparison because of the salary cap
in the NFL versus Baseball. I get that, but the
way that they have operated ever since Paul Allen bought
this team almost thirty years ago is an absolute bar
that every franchise in this town should accept and strive for.
And I think that we do need to stop for
a second and give Paul Allen and Jody a lot

of credit because in the years before Paul Allen bought
this team, the Seahawks made the playoffs four times. Since
Paul Allen's bought the team, ninety seven seventeen trips to
the postseason, four Super Bowls, and two championships, ownership matters.
And Paul Allen showed us that when he bought this
team thirty years ago.

here at Jimmy's on First where everything started. Today was
head back to where everything is starting to end for
the Seahawks celebration Super Bowl sixty. The parade, the celebration
inside of the stadium our Ashley, Ryan is at the
end of the parade round Ashley, what's going on there?

Speaker 8 (01:13:26):
Well, he and we have people throwing clothing at the
convoy to get things signed. I've seen jackets, jerseys, all
sorts of things, and that was just for the offensive coaches.

Speaker 6 (01:13:37):
And special teams coaches.

Speaker 8 (01:13:38):
So I can't imagine what's going to happen when the
players actually come through.

Speaker 1 (01:13:43):
So when we say throwing clothing, talk to me about
what's throwing clothing? Looks like like an we throwing taking
shirts off? Or is this all PG? STILLG thirteen? Okay,
all right.

Speaker 8 (01:13:54):
Fairly PG just taking up jerseys and coasts and throwing
it up there, trying to get side. We've now that
it's got the confetti go on through the street. The
wives just came through. I think we just had one
of the players running by, but I couldn't tell who
it was.

Speaker 6 (01:14:08):
Well, goggles on.

Speaker 1 (01:14:10):
We've got goggles, no shirts, no shoes, no service. We
got a lot going on in that regard, Ashley, what's
the atmosphere like? Is they roll these the people where
you're at much like you have been waiting for a
very long time. I'm looking out and seeing thousands of
people heading home here on Oxdelle and Royal Brom outside
of Team Mobile and Luminfield. What's the atmosphere like there?

(01:14:31):
They got to be a little tired, but also excited.

Speaker 8 (01:14:34):
Everyone is so excited, and yeah, I think you know,
for a while there was a lull because we'd been
here for two hours waiting. But now, I mean, you
should have just heard the reception for Jody and John
and for Mike right here at the end of the
parade round. It's actually pretty cool because they all are
stopping right in front of where I'm at, and Mike
had the NFC Championship trophy and he was pumping it
up and down while everyone was champion Seahawks and Jody

(01:14:57):
got the whole crowd yelling Jody and Schneier big rounds
of the clause as well. So everybody pretty excited to
finally be able to see, like, what's what we've all
been waiting for. I can see the World champions bus
just coming up to the intersection before me. We've got
music on the truck that's coming up right now. I

(01:15:18):
think the DJs are here.

Speaker 6 (01:15:19):
This is awesome.

Ashley, Ryan's at the end of the parade. We'll keep
it here for a couple more moments. How far away

which is incredibly heavy lifting you have to do every day,

out at Jimmy's on First where the broadcast day started
at six am today with Chuck and Bucky continued with

(01:17:29):
me kind of I guess they called me the MC
of the of the parade ceremony with Jackson Feltz, Dave
Softy Maler along the parade route. Mark James is going
to join me in just a couple of seconds, so
stand by MJ. And the midday is coming up, truly
in the midday, like middle of the day from one
to three. We kind of flip flop today a little bit.

(01:17:49):
Let's take into a final time though with Ashley as
she is up there at the end of the parade route,
things are wrapping up. Ashley paint us the picture what's
going on as we wrap things up.

Speaker 6 (01:18:01):
And it was awesome.

Speaker 8 (01:18:02):
Confetti's flying, the players just drinking and laughing and throwing footballs.
He had Leonard Williams big cat with a big heavyweight
belt and he's pumming it up and down in the air.
He had to get warned to pull or step back
from the edge of the bus because they didn't want
it to get hurt when the bus started moving again.

Speaker 6 (01:18:19):
I mean, these guys are living their best lives.

Speaker 8 (01:18:21):
You've got people on the roof at seven eleven across
the street, He's got people on street time people in
the trees.

Speaker 6 (01:18:29):
It's awesome.

I'm gonna tell you that seven eleven's been there longer
than the space Needle. So if I would be careful
on that roof, just as an FYI used to do
the thing, though I thought the same thing.

There's a lot of them up there too.

I used to go there when I worked at COMO.
That would be thirty plus years ago. So I'm going
to tell you that seven eleven roof, I'm not trusting it,
so that might be our that might be where we
have the mass casualties. Ashley put a bow on it
for me. From your perspective as you just kind of
look back, look around, soak it all in knowing that
your daughter got to enjoy this. And if people missed
at the start of the show, the last time we

had a parade, you had a daughter. She just wasn't
on this planet. Yet she was in your belly at
that point. So what does this all mean to you
as a mom and as a fan.

Speaker 8 (01:19:13):
Well, I will say I thought that nothing would mean
more than watching the first one, but this one.

Was way better.

Speaker 8 (01:19:19):
Just being able to happens here watching it with me,
and she's got to be in the stadium to experience that.

It means so much more.

And you know, twelve years totilast one, it was well
worth the wait.

two and Ashley, especially Jackson, Ashley and Softy looking at
the massive humanity down here. I know you've seen the
pictures in the video. For them to get into a
position where they could do what they did today, remarkable,

great job, great effort by everybody all the way around.

When I first came, when I first listened to KGr,
when I was working as a sports TV producer at Como,
when the station first started, and then when I was
working here for a few years as a sports fan,
when I went to Salt Lake and did this job,
when I went to Portland did this job. The gold
standard has always been this station. And what I mean
by that is this there's a lot of stations that

(01:21:16):
pump their chest out and they do things really well,
whatever it is maybe they have, like maybe they're the
flagship for a bunch of stations, or maybe they take
a bunch of phone calls. The one thing this radio
station has done since day one with groz Gas, Nancy
and everybody is when there's a big event in Seattle
that involves fans, they do it better than anybody. And
I think that our group out there did that today.

(01:21:38):
Looking at the text line. Everyone enjoyed it and also
kind of even if you couldn't be here, hopefully you
felt like you were here along the way. So kudos
to the crew. This is what KGr does, is the
home of the twelfth Man, and we say the home
of the twelfth Man, Mark, I think you now see
it up close and personal over the last twelve months,
that's what we do.

best head coach, best running back, best special teams player,

arrested today, and that's a and that's a good thing

are about? We get so excited about every game and
the series in baseball, are of game and football or hockey,
your basketball, whatever it is. To get to the point
where you can have what we had today is a

community and as a city, to get to the point
of having a true celebration. It's one thing in the
stands when you know, listen the home run by Gino
last year across the street. I'm two hundred yards from
that ball night. Yeah, that's a great celebration. Here's the thing.
What's better is when we can all celebrate not just

forty seven thousand people, when you can have a million
or so people, and it doesn't matter if it's five
hundred thousand or a million, whatever the number ends up being,
how they estimated, how they figure that out. When we
can all celebrate it as a group and as a
city and as a community that frankly has been far
too divided for far too long continue to be after today,
But today we all come together as Seahawks fans. Special, man,

it's absolutely special. And so yeah, one win here or
there is fun. We've kind of we talk about wins
and losses on this radio station every day. We break
them down that nauseum and go through it. But when
you get to the top of the mountain, this is
what you get to do. You gotta sit back and
celebrate and enjoy the moment with everybody else. And I
swear I don't think ninety nine percent of the people

today had something Seahawk related on them, which is really
cool to see.

and Democrats and Libertarians and all today in Seattle n PNW,
we were all on the same team, which is the Twelves.
We all love the Seahawks. We all care about the Seahawks.
We all rooting for the same thing. And Softy kind
of said it to you, and then he got emotional.

He goes, when do you have a day where everybody
wakes up and is happy?

Nobody's like today, everybody is happy.
