Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cat one O three point seven, You're number one for
New Country. To Steve and Gina in the Morning, Steve.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Lundy, Gena Melton.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Wednesday Night, Slow Down, Ingrid Andress in concert, and we're
pleased to have Ingrid with us this morning. Good morning, Ingrid,
Good morning. We're excited to have you back in Omaha.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Yes, I'm excited to get back there too. I haven't
been on the road in a minute, so I'm excited.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Before we get to all the cool stuff going on
with you professionally, I want to try this here. I've
never really done this, because, you know, we find out artists,
they tend to have some normal things they have to
do in their lives. What's on your agenda for today, Ingrid?

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Well, I am rehearsing today with my guitar player, so
I guess that's not super normal. But I'm also going
to a weightlifting class, and I am cooking salmon for
dinner later.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I love salmony. I love How long have you been
into weightlifting? Not very long.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
I'm not trying to be like a bodybuilder or anything,
but I just feel, I don't know, I feel like
I'm trying to get muscles back. I've been doing pilates
for forever, and I realize that that doesn't really help
me with any of my yard work.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
All right, Like, oh I have no, I'm sure I have.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
You know, I know how to do weird moves on
a machine, but I can't listen anything.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
So I'm trying to get stronger.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
So we found out that Ingrid Anders does have some
normal things going on in the life, sure, but beyond that, Yeah,
you're rolling out.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
New music right now. What kind of sparked this next
chapter of your creativity in songwriting?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Honestly, just you know, being a woman in my thirties.
I feel like that just changes a lot of stuff,
and you just start being more honest with yourself about
who you are and what you want and what you've learned.
And I don't know, I'm kind of loving it. You
kind of like stop caring about things as much, you know,

(02:02):
like when you're in your twenties, you're just like, oh,
everything matters, and then woman in your thirties like, look out,
we don't care anymore.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
So true, so times of change. It used to be
you in you your seventies when you lost your filter.
Now it's just it's just a woman in your thirties. Yeah, uh,
talking with Ingrid Andrews, youre going to be the slowdown
Wednesday Night. Well, let's go back a little bit to
the one that really put you on the map more
hearts than mine. I mean, you made history as a

(02:30):
debut single, and you've got great nominations or whatever, but
that song to me was just so personal because yeah,
you had a boyfriend, but it was really about the
relationship you had with Mama and daddy. I love that.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah. I come from a large family, so I have
four siblings and we grew up very close because we
were homeschooled at one point and traveled.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
A lot, and yeah, this song really is about them,
because you.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Know, I'm when I wrote it, it really was like
I was not very concerned about whoever I was dating.
I was just like, oh, no, the holidays are approaching
and I have to decide if I want to introduce
this person, and I ended up not.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
What did your parents think about the song?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
They, well, they thought I was a little harsh on them.
They were like, oh, we wouldn't do that.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
I'm like, okay, sure you're lying, but no, they.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Really they loved it because they were like, actually.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
You know this is true, Like we do pay attention to.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Who you date, and I'm like, perfect, I'm never dating again,
never ever.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
I love Ingrid andres with us this morning here with
Steve and Gina.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
What of our other favorite songs of yours is Wishful
Drinking That became one of the most played songs on
country radio back in twenty twenty two. Did you know
it was special at that moment when you and Sam
Hunt finished it?

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Honestly, no, because it was still during like COVID and
I remember finishing it.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
On my keyboard, and I think once I.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Heard him singing it, I was like, oh, this is cool,
because sometimes if you spend too much time writing a song,
you get too close to it and you kind of
lose your perspective. But once I heard him singing on it,
I was just like, oh, okay, this is going to
work for sure because he has the best voice you know,
and you know it was well. Actually I asked him

(04:36):
to be on it after we played a kickball game together,
so that's fun.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
That's a nice way to work into a topic. Well,
by the way, I was.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Like, let's win this kickball game and then do you want.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
To hop on this song talking with Ingrid Andrews. So
you're going to be at Slow Down Wednesday night. Do
you have any pre show rituals that you do?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah, I'm a big tea drinker, and but also potato
chips because the grease on potato chips like helps like
coat your throats. I just like have a bag of
potato chips.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
I've never heard that, you know, we need to start
eating potatoes chips before we go on the air.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
That's crazy.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
I did not know that.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Interesting. What are you most excited for fans to hear
when you come to the Slowdown? What's your what's one
of your favorites?

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Well, I I haven't played like intimate venues like this
in a very long time, and so I'm really excited
to just like share stories behind the songs because a
lot of the time, if you're in like a bigger venue,
like an arena, you don't really get to talk a lot.
And I'm excited just to be able to like sit

(05:54):
down on my piano with a guitar player and share
the story behind the songs that I've written, and to
play some new songs that aren't even out yet, and
to be able to like share you know what I've
been doing the past year and a half. So yeah,
I'm excited for.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
That, and that's that's exciting for the fans too, to
get that up close story and the music and what's
behind it. Speaking of which, along those lines, how has
your songwriting changed from when you first started writing songs
to now? Do you feel there's a change.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Absolutely, and I hope there always is one. I hope
I'm constantly growing and learning. I will say currently my
writing style is trying to be as specific as possible
and keeping it.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Sometimes I think if you if you write a song
and it's too broad and there's not a lot of detail,
it's not as interesting and I don't really want to
listen to it. And so I'm trying to get weird
in my writing and give details that are more specific
to me because I think that's what makes the storytelling

(07:09):
aspect of songwriting cool. I think sometimes nowadays people just
like are very generic with the lyrics, and so I'm
trying to be super intentional with with what I say,
and so I think sometimes some of my lyrics on
these new songs get a little too specific and uncomfortable
but I.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Kind of like that.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
So are you saying you're going to start naming names
like Taylor Swift did?

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
No, Unfortunately I will never be that teddy.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
Yeah, I'm not here to drag people through them us.
That's you know.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, whatever flows her about, but not not me.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Well, we are very excited to see you at the Slowdown.
We cannot wait, We can't wait for we hear you
have a new album coming out maybe later this year.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Uh yes, perhaps if I can wrap it up in
time then.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Yeah, that's great. Well, thank you so much, Ingrid. We
really look forward to seeing you at the Slowdown, and
thanks so much for spending some time with us.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Oh my gosh. Of course I'm excited.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
To see you guys too.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Thank you, can't wait.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Take care, Ingrid, Bye bye, all right, bye y'all

Bleep! with Ana Navarro

Fear thrives in silence and confusion. Ana Navarro rejects both. Her voice is an antidote to today’s chaos. Her new podcast, Bleep! with Ana Navarro, takes on today’s most pressing issues with the voices most connected to it: decision-makers, political leaders, cultural shapers, and people on the frontlines of the story. The conversations acknowledge the emotions we all feel—despair, sadness, fear— but emerge with knowledge, perspective, and hope. The belief is simple: fearless dialogue can transform fear into courage, and courage into change. When fear dominates the headlines, this show digs deeper. Because information, debate, and conversation don’t just ease fear, they give us power to shape the future.
