Speaker 1 (00:00):
Kat one O three point seven. You're number one for
the New Country. There is Steve and Gina in the
morning Steve Lundy and joining us is Valerie Music recording
artist hit maker Justin Moore. Hey, justin, good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Good morning, asked, how are you doing?
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Good, good to talk to you. Well, hey, congratulations on
the new album. I'm kind of curious. With eight studio
albums now under your belt, was last Friday any different
than any other day when your album came out? Is
it still that special exciting day?
Speaker 2 (00:27):
You know, It's kind of weird, to be honest with you,
because my first album came out No Way, don't know
and something like that. It was a big deal. How
many you sold the first week and how many you
shipped and at the time it was ceeds still, you know,
and so that was my first two or three albums
were like that, and then it started kind of waning
(00:50):
as far as how much you sold, and then it
became how much you stream. And so it's kind of
changed over the years, to be honest with you, and
there's less excitement and we to do, you know, a
big week long roll out and you go to New
York City or you go to La and you do
all this TV and this and that. Nowadays it's just
kind of like it's out but you know what I mean,
(01:14):
it's kind of weird. It's changed so much here it is.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Well. It certainly has a big hit on it. The
title this is My Derek, Congratulations and how well it's
doing well.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Thank you man. I appreciate that. It's kind of an
autobiographical song for me. You know, I'm fortunate that my
wife and I are able to raise our kids on
the same property that I grew up on, that my
mom grew up on with her siblings. My grandfather was
(01:47):
raised here by his grandfather. I mean, it's been our
family since the late eighteen hundreds. So to be able
to not only write a song about that kind of
as an ode to, you know, our property, to have
it become a big record is pretty neat, pretty special.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Talking with Justin Moore this morning with Steve.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
And Gina, Justin, you've got some speaking of all the
music on your new album. You've got some great collaborations
on there, Randy Howsard, Derk Spentley and Blake Shelton and
Steve and I heard a story that you offered Blake
a couple of songs, and he had something to say
about one or the other.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, there was like a more I don't know if
you call it a ballad, but the song called love
Your Hometown, which is on the album as well. It's
like a love letter from your hometown to you. And
then this beer song. And I said, let me just
give him a couple of options. I know what he's
gonna pick. But he goes, of course, I want to
(02:47):
do the beer one. Of course. Of course, of course
you did anyways, But really really appreciated of him and
those other guys as well, Dirk's and and the all
three of them. Their talents and their time and effort
and energy to something that doesn't benefit them whatsoever, just
(03:09):
as a favor of me is pretty neat.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
So that's very cool. Well, listen, we're very excited about
what the song is doing. As a matter of fact,
do you mind if we play your song this is
my dirt?
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Please please?
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Justin. We always appreciate talking to you. You were here
this past summer. We can't wait to get you back
up here again. In Cat Country. A continued success, not
only a song on the album, but just the life
in general and give those kids a hug for us,
will it.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Thanks guys, appreciate all this time and absolutely
