It's time for Steve and Gina's small town Salute on

Saddle up Cat Country. It's Laney and today I'm thrilled
to be taking you to Rodeo City, USA known as Sydney, Iowa.
Sydney is about twenty minutes east of Nebraska City. Nancy
Sinatra onece saying that these boots were made for walking,
but in Sydney, boots are made for displaying. Scattered throughout
the town, especially around the downtown square and perched on lampposts,

are twenty three creatively painted cowboy boot sculptures, each one
a miniature work of art. Sydney's most popular event is
the Sydney Iowa Championship Rodeo, which started in nineteen twenty three.
It's such a strong part of the town's identity that
the mascots of Sydney Community Schools are actually cowboys and cowgirls.
The folks who run the rodeo are so cool that

they actually have a Kat one or three seven banner
hanging proudly near the shoegate. Yay. If you need a
quick bite while in Sydney, you've got to check out
Dance and Bear restaurant. Their menu is full of fun
options like the Lone Ranger, loose Meat, Polar flatbread, and
onion ring Tanglers. We salute Sydney, Iowa, another great small
town in Cat Country population one thousand forty eight.
