Clorinda. Here we come. Hey, it's Laney and today we're
going about eighty five miles southeast of Omaha to Clorinda, Iowa.
Clorinda is the birthplace of Glenn Miller, an internationally beloved trombonist, composer,
and band leader.

The fifty first annual Glenn Miller Festival, with orchestral performances,
stage shows, historical displays, and music competitions, is actually taking
place next weekend. Clorinda is also where a large World
War II prison camp called Camp Clorinda operated from January
nineteen forty four to December nineteen forty five. It held

up to three thousand German, Italian and Japanese prisoners. Nowadays
that land is occupied by Shankfield, Clorinda's municipal airport. Some
of Clorinda's most beloved events include the Southwest Iowa Being Jamboree,
the Clorinda Craft Festival, and Cruise in Clorinda, a classic vehicle,
truck and tractor show. Gotta go to that. If you
visit Clorinda in June or July, you'll want to attend

a Clorinda A's baseball game. You might be watching the
next MLB Star in action. We salute Clorinda, Iowa, another
great small town in Cat Country population five thousand, three
hundred and fifty three.
