Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's time for Steve and Gina's small town Salute on
CAD one oh three point seven.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Hey, it's Laney, and today we're tipping our hat to Underwood,
the small town just ten miles northeast Council Bluffs. As
much as I'd like to say the town was named
after Carrie, Underwood was actually named after the first engineer
to drive a train over the Chicago, Milwaukee and Saint
Paul railroad tracks an impressive feet. Last week, thousands of

(00:27):
people gathered in Underwood for a pancake feed, fireworks show,
live music, a glow foam party, a glow run, midway games,
face painting, fingo, a silent auction, and more. A lot
of small towns have Independence Day events, but this one
really is in a league of its own. I love
stuff like that. Yeah, it's true small town. If you

(00:48):
like roller skating, you'll want to visit the Underwood Memorial
Building Association Hall between October through April because they host
public roller skating on Friday nights.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
The last time my roller skated, I fell right on
my bloods Oh, that's a good idea. That's shocking to me, Gina.
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Most people know Underwood is the home of a massive
Jacklinks Beef jerky distribution center for more than one hundred
island's work. There's plenty more to discover in town. Grab
a meal at Garcia's Family Restaurant. Support local farmers by
stalking up on meat from Bertles and Beef. Stop by
Louis Coffeehouse for a caffeine fix, and treat yourself to
a Shirley Temple float from Scoops ice Cream.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
I love Shirley Temples.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
We salute Underwood, Iowa, another great small town in Cat Country,
population nine hundred fifty four.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
The Small Town Salute part of the Friday Celebration with
Steven Gina in the morning on the iHeartRadio app and
