Husky Talk Bus Game is on the air with Greg

(00:24):
Lewis and Mario Bailey. Here's Dave Softy Muller.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
All right, doc fans, We're back here inside Husky Stadium
after a thirty one to nineteen win over UCLA, the
Huskies are going Bowl and Baby, they are now a
six and four six and five excuse me football team
on the year after dispatching of the UCLA Bruins. And
not just that, they also have won twenty games in

(00:48):
a row at home, which means they will take a
twenty game Husky Stadium winning streak into next year. Next
up August thirtieth of twenty twenty five against uc David
Husky Talk Postgame on the Air, brought to you by
Chevy Silverado. Bring all the tough stuff, because with nine
trims and four avallable engines, Chevy Silverado is ready to
accept all challenges. And I think guys, the biggest question

(01:11):
right now for this football team, simply put, is who
should start at quarterback in two weeks from tomorrow against
the Oregon Ducks. We'll talk at length about the game.
Will Rogers had will come back and shout a bit
about the game. Devon Williams had Jed Fish was asked
with the media and the press conference after the game
where he's leaning, and he says, Greg, he will take
the bye week to figure that out. What do you

(01:34):
think he ends up deciding on in fifteen days from
now for his starting quarterback position?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Again, you let it go all the way down to
the wire and actually wait till they walk out the
locker room, because you want Oregon to have to prepare
for both. But I think we've all seen enough. We
see that Will Rogers is struggling, and for his sake,
today I was glad that they took him out because
you don't want the young man to continue to press
and have bad plays. But from what I've seen, I
think you know the freshman is.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
Ready to go in and that should be his big debut.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
All right, Mario, how about you been telling you guys
for weeks and I'm gonna say it out loud.

Speaker 6 (02:08):
You guys know I've been saying it like this.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
We should never see Will Rogers in the University of
Washington uniform actually play again unless Demon Williams has something
real bad happen, and we don't want that to happen.
But this should be Demon Williams show for the rest
of his career.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
You could be a little nicer and never see him
in a Husky uniform.

Speaker 6 (02:29):
And the guy has I said, playing in a Husky unit.

Speaker 7 (02:32):
You're okay with him on the sideline. You just don't
want to see.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
Him, Okay, let me be nice. I like Will Rogers.
I think he's a wonderful young man on and off
the field. I think he's just struggled. He's not making
enough plays. Our offense doesn't score enough points when he's
in there. And I've just been waiting for Williams. And
I think we talked about a pregame the mom Williams
gives us the best chance to win. If you look

(02:57):
at the plays he made, he should have been sacked.
If you times, he may spectacular plays. He has a
bunch of speed. He went seven for eight in the
passing and we scored the last three drives or three
or four drives that he was in there.

Speaker 6 (03:09):
I just think he gives us the best chance.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Well, Greg and I are both looking at each other
as you're doing that little opening monologue there, and I
think we're thinking the same thing. Did Will Rogers like
pee on your wan or something there?

Speaker 5 (03:19):
And I honestly just never saw us score points. Yeah,
he could never get us in the end zone. Yeah,
And it makes me irritated because if you look at
his stats and you look at the percentage he's throwing
seventy percent and then started the season he threw a
very few interceptions, but our offense never looked like it
was clicking.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
To me, I just thought we needed a playmaker.

Speaker 7 (03:41):
Well, let's let's do this.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Let's come back wrap some phone calls at two eight
six ninety five, nine eight two nine or nine to five. Oho,
We'll dive into this quarterback situation more because obviously this
is going to be the big decision that Jed's gonna
have to make before the Oregon game in two weeks.
And Greg, I would generally agree with you that there
really is no advantage right to head fish announcing anything
before that game with the Oregon Ducks in fifteen days,

(04:04):
so we'll come back. We'll chat about that Huskies win
thirty one nineteen. They are going bowlding and they have
now won twenty games in a row at Husky Stadium.
And we got more thoughts from the from the Dogs
win today over the Bruins. This is how you did
with This is Husky football from theirfield. This is ninety
three three KJRFM out back.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
All right, we're back here from Husky Stadium thirty one
nineteen final over UCLA. Dogs are a six win football team,
which means they will be going bowlding. We'll get into
some of the ball possibilities in a minute. Husky Talk
post game brought to by Chevy Tracks Bigger and Boulder.

Speaker 7 (04:56):
Just like the Northwest Tracks is a small suv.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
That gives you amazing style on all the tech at
an unbelievable price. All right, So you Dubs now won
twenty games in a row, Greg, they will carry that
into next year. August thirtieth, they will take on They
take on Colorado State with UC Davis after that. So
you would assume, I guess that this thing is going
to run to at least twenty two in a row,

(05:20):
barring a major upset here at Husky Stadium. If you're curious,
the home games and the Big Ten next year, Illinois,
Ohio State, Oregon, Purdue, and Rutgers all come to Husky
Stadium next season. So to stretch this thing to twenty
seven in a row is going to be obviously a
tall task. A little bit of a different schedule next

(05:42):
year versus this year. You dub got a little bit
of a break, and as you said off the year,
you can just play the teams in front of you,
very astute point by you. By the way, USC four
and five, UCLA's four and six, we were State in
the Big Sky is a three and seven team. Eastern
Michigan's five and five, Northwesterns four and five in Michigan
is five and five. Yet there was no trip up,
there was no slip up at Husky Stadium games that

(06:03):
Washington was supposed to win this year at home.

Speaker 7 (06:06):
They won.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Yeah, And I think the way the schedule was set up,
you know, it was going to be tough sledding going
on the road because those games that were swing games
and those games that were tougher teams, we were gonna
have to go to their place, and so that made
the road schedule pretty tough. But you know, on the
flip side of that, it gave you an opportunity to
win your home football games, keep that streak alive. These

(06:29):
guys did what they needed to do, not only throughout
the season, but especially today. There was some trepidation early on.
I think the quarterback change really gave these guys. Not
we talked about in the pregame is his leash is
Will Rogers Lee's gonna be short this week, not a
well like last week where the game's over, we've lost,

(06:50):
so we might as well get Demand some playing time.
But with the coach go to demand to actually secure win,
and I think we found out Yes, absolutely, yeah, that's
what Demand did. Not saying that we couldn't have won
with Will, but the way things were going, the lead
was slipping away. He was making bad plays. You can
see him being frustrated. So the coach did what he

(07:10):
needed to do for the team, for Will and for
demon and I think it worked out Will for us.

Speaker 7 (07:15):
Yeah, and Mario we talked about that.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Like Greg said, the pregame, you know, is the least
going to be shorter, And I don't know if the
leash was shorter because it took three picks for Jedfish
to get Will Rogers out of the game.

Speaker 7 (07:25):
I mean he had the interception.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
He gets the ball seven to ten to go second quarter,
rolls all the way to the fifteen yard line of UCLA,
basically throws an interception, but gets a roughing call on Oladejo,
who lowers his head and hits him in the ass
and gets a roughing the passer penalty that wipes off
the interception.

Speaker 7 (07:43):
Just a terrible call.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
If you're a UCLA fan, you're living if you're to
Sean Foster at your corner for doing that. The next
drive he throws an interception that gets tipped and picked off,
and the next drive after that he throws an interception.
So it took Will Rogers totally melting down for Jetfish
to get him out of the game. But then Demon
Williams comes in eight to twelve to go third quarter

(08:05):
and leads three consecutive scoring drives.

Speaker 7 (08:07):
So what did you see from Demon? And let's just
go back for a second.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
What did you see from will Rogers that led to
just this implosion by him tonight?

Speaker 5 (08:14):
I seen a hangover from the Penn State game. It
just seems like that was hanging over his head. He
didn't make enough plays, he got benched in the second half.
I mean, you can look at it a few different ways,
but the game was over in the first half and
Demon got to play the entire second half. What I
seen him to do today was pressing. He was throwing
into double in triple coverage and he should have had

(08:36):
three interceptions.

Speaker 6 (08:37):
The other thing.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
About it is Demon did come in for a series
in the second quarter, so it wasn't We all knew
that the least was gonna be short. But I seen
him pressing, and as soon as he pressed, when that
young man came in, he just kept making plays. The
difference between the two is Demon is a straight playmaker
and he can make something out of nothing with his legs.

(08:57):
As he showed tonight.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
This was a disappointing part for Will today was you know,
there's been games where we've you know noticed, I'm not
gonna say, maybe excuse, we've noticed that he was under pressure.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
There was a lot of pass rush.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
You know, he was making you know, some desperation plays,
trying to escape and maybe you know, underheat. But today
there really wasn't a lot of heat coming from UCLA.
Their pass rush, like we talked about in the pregame,
was not anything spectacular. A couple of the interceptions was
when he had plenty of time to throw, and it was,
like Mario said, he was pressing to.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Try to make a play because he hadn't made.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Any in the last few weeks, right, And even though
he had plenty of time, though guy's were open and
he tried to force the ball in you know, one interceptions,
there were three UCLA guys surrounding the one Husky and
the linebacker had dropped to a great depth and he
tried to throw it over him and bang interceptions. So,
you know, the disappointing thing, and I think what Will

(09:53):
himself would be disappointed when he watches the film is
he wasn't under pressure.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
He wasn't under any kind of stress. Today.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
He just forced some things because he hasn't been making
plays and he and unfortunately those lid to turnovers.

Speaker 7 (10:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Well, and then today you saw the emergence of a
defensive end named Russell Davis, number ninety nine, who had
three sacks.

Speaker 7 (10:12):
In the game tonight. They call him Deuce. By the way,
Udub had six sacks in this game.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
It was the polar opposite Greg as you said of
the Penn State game. They had six sacks tonight and
they had nine tackles for loss. Ucla had one sack
in five TfL So look, I mean, obviously you know
UCLA is not in the category of a Penn State.

Speaker 7 (10:32):
They're not in the category of an Indiana. They're not
in the category of an Oregon.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
But getting after these guys tonight and starting to cross
some boxes off, right, Mario, finding some guys for next year,
like Russell Davis. And when di'angelo titti Ali went down
all five, I believe if your offensive lineman that we're
out there on the field are all eligible to come
back next year. So we know that's not gonna happen.
Guys will leave, guys will come and go. But you
saw a real glimpse of the future tonight, I thought,

(10:58):
especially when Demon Williams came into the game in the
second half.

Speaker 6 (11:01):
Yeah, you did. And we talked about that pregame as well.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
We wanted our defensive line and get a nice little rotation,
have some guys coming in and out, and that would
show up our defense. That guy, that young man, he's
gonna start getting recruited. We're gonna try and see what
he can do next week. We haven't had that many
sacks in the game in a very long time. That
was a great game, and I'm looking forward to some
of these young guys come back and watching them in

(11:26):
the ball game. Now, let Greg go ahead. I was
just gonna say it was interesting. We all believed that
UCLA was gonna come in here and try to pound
the football and run the ball down our throats.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
And actually they had a different game plan. They came
out throwing the ball. And you know, sometimes coaches could
outthink themselves. They can try to be too smart, because
we did really put together a great pass rush. We
didn't give their quarterback hardly any time to throw the
football most of the game, and I think, you know,
their strategy backfired on them. And yeah, you can say,

(11:58):
well they didn't have a lot of rushing yards either,
but if you stick with the run game, it's shown
that our players will get worn down, get worn out.
Maybe in the second half was when you break through. Well,
they never really tried to go to a run game.
They tried to throw the ball backfire. We got six
sacts today, so you know, I was really excited to
see that. But I think, you know, strategically Deshaun Foster

(12:19):
UCLA made probably some bad decisions.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Yeah, let's do that. We're gonna break come back with
some of your phone calls. Husky Hawks on ninety three

Speaker 7 (13:02):
Day heard there's a Colorado trim to.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Help you do more.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Let's go to the phones, DJ and Lacy Eurama, Greg Mario, Softy,
how are you man?

Speaker 7 (13:12):
What's going on?

Speaker 4 (13:13):
DJ? Hey?

Speaker 8 (13:15):
You know, baby, we got the six wins and that's
pretty amazing. And I gotta get I gotta get prosts
to fish because I cannot believe that we had a
defensive end at two seventeen going against X Center with
one hundred pounds of a different thing his weight. He
had a guy who's at two seventeen of another guy

(13:36):
three ten. That's awesome, that's amazing. I think we all
in Husky, Nathan, and I think we all know that
Williams was going to start at Oregon next week, regardless
of kind of what happened tonight. My question to you
guys is, especially with fishes buy out in twenty twenty
five at twelve million, twenty twenty six at ten million,

(13:59):
and then six million after that, is Fish gonna be
here long term? Or is this kind of gonna feel
like Sarkisian using us as a springboy.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Yeah, guys, you want to weigh in on that. I
got some thoughts on that, but Mario, you want to
start go ahead.

Speaker 6 (14:15):
Uh. I think it just all depends.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
I think what happens with fish if if if he
has the type of career that he had just with Arizona,
and our team turns out to be great, and we
have a ten to two season and a big time
Bowl game or make it into the playoffs, it's always
a possibility. Washington is not everybody's final destination. We're hoping
that it is, especially being in the Big Ten, and

(14:40):
in a few years we're gonna only see like four
or five conferences at all, So being in the Big
ten might weigh heavy. But if he's successful here, there's
a chance he's gonna leave. I don't think he's gonna
leave here in the next three or four years, but
I think there's always a possibility.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
I think if you have success here and you build
something not sustainable and you're in one of the two
or three power conferences that are going to be left,
I think there's a reason to stay. I mean, this
is an opportunity to build something that you can, you know,
continue to replicate year after year after year. And you know,
maybe I'm more optimistic than most folks. I know, Softias

(15:20):
has started from day one. Well, if he's super successful
this year in Florida sucks. You know, he's going to
go to Florida, you know, but who knows. I just
I don't want to. I'm not going to speculate too much.
What I'm going to try to do is enjoy the process. Yeah,
and hope that he's successful. And if he is so
successful that the Alabamas of the world, you know, come

(15:41):
after him and offer him a ton of money, that
means will have.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Had some successful season. So that's gonna enjoy.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Those Yeah, no question, And I'm Greg, I'm kind of
with you on that. I mean, look, I mean I
personally think for me, my mindset, and I think there's
no right or wrong answer to That's just how you
want to approach us as a fan, right that. I'm
I'm just assuming that anything's possible, right, I mean, is
it possible he's here for seven or eight years?

Speaker 7 (16:02):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (16:03):
Is it possible he takes off after a couple of years.
Sure is it possible he brings players with him?

Speaker 7 (16:07):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (16:08):
I mean, but that's possible for every coach in America, right,
I mean, look at Indiana, for God's sakes. I mean,
these success in Indiana is having right now, there's gonna
be people knocking on, you know, Kurt Signetti's door and
asking him to take off and maybe bring a bunch
of guys from Indiana with him after one season in Bloomington.
So this is the nature of the game now in

(16:28):
college football. You have to really take this on a
one year, year by year basis with your coaches and
your players.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
I think, yeah, I think, you know, there might be
a couple of places where guys are gonna stay twelve thirteen,
fourteen years, but those days are kind of over. You see,
Brian Kelly left Notre Dame. Notre Dame was one of
those jobs that you know is a forever place if
they'll keep you, and he left with the LSU, right,
And so I think for the most part, you know,
maybe if you haven't a whole bunch of success at

(16:55):
Alabama or Ohio State, maybe you stayed there for thirteen
fourteen years. But I think those days he's seeing coaches
stay that long at one particular place. For the most part,
ninety eight percent of the universities, those days are over.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah, no question, Bill and Bothel Bill, you around with
the Hanks, Go ahead, Bill, Yeah, I saw think.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (17:16):
I've been a Husky fen since nineteen fifty eight and
we've been through some rough times and some good times.
The best times I think we're Don James and I
just I just wonder, is yeah, is that over? Is?

Speaker 7 (17:36):
What over? Is the Don James being here for eighteen
years era? Over? I think?

Speaker 4 (17:40):
So?

Speaker 2 (17:41):
I mean we just talked about I mean, that feels
like kind of an archaic thing to think of a
coach staying in a place that long, doesn't it.

Speaker 9 (17:48):
Yeah, Yeah, I get. I just I just remember when
coaches stayed for you know, they they had like James.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
He was.

Speaker 9 (18:02):
He was loyal to the University of Washington. Now it's
just like a turnover.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Well, I will tell you this, guys about what I've observed,
and I appreciate the call, Bill, Greg and Mario. What
I've observed from Jetfish is a guy who, as long
as he's here, he's going to be fully committed to
this place. And what I mean by that is, I
don't know if I've ever heard a coach on campus
talk more about being this involved in making everything around

(18:29):
here better. The locker rooms, the treatment facilities, the nutrition program.
He got into some specifics about a month and a
half ago about everything.

Speaker 7 (18:38):
They needed, including these boots.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
That the players wear for recovery, and how many pairs
they need and how much they are. Him and his
wife personally gave a million dollars to this campaign to
raise money as they are now in the Big Ten.

Speaker 7 (18:52):
So I'm seeing a guy that.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Is way more involved, at least from a public facing perspective,
than any coach I've ever covered, honestly on campus. And
I go all the way back to the to the
Jim Lambright days, so that I'm pretty impressed with, you know,
I mean him him talking about having Demon here for
three years and how giddy he was about that the
other day looking ahead to next season. There's certainly some
unconventional ways about the way Jetfish speaks, but I think

(19:17):
that that's just the sign of the times.

Speaker 7 (19:18):
Now in college football.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
I mean, Jedfish needs Demon Williams to know that he
is the man before all those phone calls and all
those poachers starts showing up on his front door.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Yeah, and I think, you know, you start building that
relationship and recruiting to where you as a coach create
that that real familiarity and oneness with your quarterback. I
try that's the one position out of all that you
don't want to have to turn over year after year
after year, and so you really build that strong bond.
And so it's not unusual when you have someone like

(19:49):
that that you're going to say, Hey, it's with me, kid.
You know, we're gonna do this thing together for three
four years. We're gonna make this place, you know, really good.
You're my guy, and I'm putting it all, you know,
in your hands. And so I I think that's smart.
That's kind of the way you gotta do it. And
the other only way you could do it is the
organ method, which is is every year you got five
million dollars to go out and buy the best quarterback

(20:11):
that's available out there.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
And you know, I think that is a tough call
for a place like US.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
I just think coach Fish is a wonderful coach, and
like I just said previously, I think he's here for
four or five years. I don't think coaches last ten
or twelve years, because you're gonna have to be successful
for ten or twelve years, and that seems to be difficult.
There's a few coaches that last that long. But I
think Coach Fish would be here for the long haul.

(20:38):
But four or five years guaranteed, and that twelve million
dollar buyout is not cheap.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
Yeah, I think you know, here's the difference. He mentioned
Coach James.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
When Coach James was here, let's say he was making
two hundred and fifty thousand dollars of salary. Yeah, I
know there's other things that you know, you can bring
in and another school could come in. Coach, We're gonna
give you four hundred thousand dollars four to fifty. Yeah,
that's better money. But nowadays the gap you know, where
you know, you might make seven million here, but someone
else might give you fifteen million. That's generational life change

(21:09):
and family money. And so I think that's the reason
why you don't see especially successful coaches staying in one
place thirteen fourteen years. They have five six years of
sustain success. Everybody out there who has a great program
that has a lot of money that wants to get,
you know, a piece of that and going to offer
you amount of money that until you just can't say no.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Hey, look, as long as there's no rules I don't
blame the players for taking advantage of their not being
rules right. I mean totally, And we talked about this
the other day and that I think all of us,
as we're sitting here right now, expect Demon Williams to
be at the starting quarterback next year against Carroll State
and game number one.

Speaker 7 (21:46):
Is there any small.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Part of you, like if let's say ten years ago
it was one thousand percent that Demon Williams is coming
back because there's nowhere.

Speaker 7 (21:54):
For the guy to go.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
He's trapped.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Is there any part of you now in this new
era Mario in twenty twenty of college football, wondering even
at a half or one percent, if this guy's going
to get an offer from someone he can't refuse.

Speaker 6 (22:06):
Yes, I often think that.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
I think this is this new era of college football
is crazy, and it's the highest bidders. Some kids want
the money. They don't really care about the security or
anything else. They're trying to figure out a way to
pay for their family. So I think there's some schools,
especially if he finishes off this game against Oregon in
the bowl game and he plays tremendous and balls out,

(22:32):
there's always a possibility that somewhere else could offer him
something a little more intrig.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
And I don't know what Demond williams priorities are. I've
never met the kid. I can't tell you, right. I mean,
I've met him, but I haven't talked to him about it.

Speaker 4 (22:44):
Is playing with.

Speaker 7 (22:45):
Jetfish important for him?

Speaker 6 (22:46):
Right?

Speaker 7 (22:46):
Is finishing what he started here? Important for him?

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Is making as much money in college football before he
goes to the NFL important to him?

Speaker 4 (22:53):
I have no idea.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
And again, if I were a betting man, I put
almost everything I owned on DeMont Williams coming back next year,
except for maybe that one a box in the corner
that I could potentially afford to lose. That says, what
if something crazy happens? But how about this, Let's take
care of this guy. Just take care of what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
I think he's more valuable here to us than he
is somewhere else, and I think we would probably pay
him the best. Well, I think the money that would
be available is going to be more here here somewhere else.
He didn't play a whole year and come out and
do all these fans he played well, it looks like
he fits into this system. It looks like he's going
to be a good player. We know what we have.

(23:29):
Jetfish has made You're my guy, So Jetfish is going
to pay him. A school like Oregon, you know, who
has Dylan Johnson's a senior, right, They're not looking for
Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
They're not looking for Demond Williams.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
They're looking for the guy who's a Heisman Trophy candidate
somewhere else they can poach and pay a ton of money.
So I think he's more valuable here and gonna get
more money here than he would somewhere else.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Oregon's got the U, they got the transfer from UCLA
still right obviously on on their roster as well down
there in Eugene. More so, they have a guy waiting
in the wings that can step in. But for the
teams out there that don't have that guy, there may
be those phone calls coming in, and Greg, you might
be right, you know, maybe the combination of the desire
to play with Jed and all that, and maybe it's

(24:12):
not a factor whatsoever.

Speaker 7 (24:13):
I just think you're being I'm not saying.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
You don't think we're gonna pay him no, no, for sure,
but I just think in general, ignoring these conversations. I
think is a little bit naive for people in twenty
twenty five.

Speaker 4 (24:25):
No, you pay him for sure, don't ignore it. You
pay him unit valuable, you pay them.

Speaker 7 (24:29):
Yeah, agreed, Let's get a break.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
We'll come back and wrap it up Husky Hawks after
a thirty one to nineteen win over UCLA.

Speaker 7 (24:35):
Right here on ninety three three KJRFM.

Speaker 1 (24:37):

Speaker 2 (25:00):
That right back here inside Husky Stadium, final segment for us.

Speaker 7 (25:04):
Here it comes buddy you ready, Greg?

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Yeah, Now that the game is over, it's time for
a Dix run. What is your go to when you
make a Dick's run? De luxe and fries, a cheeseburger
and shakes, specially on ice cream Sunday. For seventy years,
Dick's Driving still serves up the best food of the
best price in the shortest time. So stop into one
of nine Puget Sound area Dick's drive in locations today,

(25:26):
Husky's win, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
Sorry, looks fries, strawberry shake, Mario, two cheese, one fry, too,
tartar god, lemonade.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
You're so close. Two cheese, one fry, root beer done.
Make it easy. Give me the yellow rapper. It's all
I need, a very yellow rapper. Okay, we got to
hit there before we go home. Well, what we should
do is just have a bag waiting for us. We
just walk up and grab it. Fight don't be okay, gotcha,
I'm the one starting fights around here, Mario. Okay, we
ever settle the forty yard dash thing. By the way,

(25:56):
you and me right now from one another press box
to the other. Old Dash's got I got the money.
Let's see what happened. So Husky's winning thirty one to nineteen.
DeMont Williams comes in in the second half and leads
three consecutive scoring drives.

Speaker 7 (26:09):
And what do we make of the way this guy's
playing right now?

Speaker 2 (26:12):
But he's basically played a game combined in the last
two weeks and the second half in Penn State and
the majority of the second half here today against UCLA
I thought one of his best better throws, honestly was
the fade route he threw to Denzel Boston that was incomplete,
but they drew a pass interference call on that throw.
That was a pretty ball by de Mont Williams.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Yeah, and you know, those are the types of plays
and throws that he's going to have to do over
and over and over again in practice and then get
an opportunity to throw them at game speed in order
to really perfect that. I think right now, you know
the quick throws, tunnel screens, you know, the little flare
route that he ran down here to score a touchdown
late in the game. But he just gives you a

(26:53):
dynamic obviously that will doesn't have with his speed his quickness.
There were a couple runs where I mean he was
in the grasp of the defender and because of his
ability to accelerate right away, they had their hands on him,
but they weren't able to wrap him up because he
was out of their grass so soon.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
And it looked, you know, almost you know.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
Like a cartoon the way he was able to square
it out of guy's hands and get down the field.
So Isaac, right now, they're giving him stuff that allows
him to be successful that really fit his skill set.
Like I've always said this year, Jetfish is way more
comfortable calling plays for a mobile, athletic, quick fast quarterback

(27:34):
then he is a drop back guy.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
And he's just chopping at the bit.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
And I'm sure he's got a whole nother playbook you
know that he keeps on the sideline for when demand
comes in the football game.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
I just think it's gonna be fun for Coach Fish
to gain plan for Oregon with this young freshman. Like
Greg has said numerous occasions, like he likes this type
of quarterback and I think it fits his offensive scheme well,
So look forward to him actually having some play calls
for this young man. We can't have him drop him

(28:04):
back too much. But you saw today we saw Will Rogers.
You can never pull the ball out and run. But
demon the first play he came in, he pulled the
ball out and made some people miss and skirted up
the sideline.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Well, you're not gonna have to worry about one thing, Pal,
Your touchdown record is gonna be safe.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
I know that's been your biggest concern every day that
you wake up to watch this team play. Your number
one concern is not who wins or loses, it's will
my touchdown record be safe? And Denzel Boston yet again
shut out of the end zone tonight.

Speaker 6 (28:33):
Well let's go another What are we at right now?
Thirty two years?

Speaker 4 (28:39):
We're good?

Speaker 7 (28:39):
Okay, Well, he might get eight touchdowns in the bowl game.
Who knows?

Speaker 6 (28:43):
So going to a bowl game, this is possibility.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
So games that have been mentioned, guys as possible destinations, Vegas, LA,
the Independence Bowl, in Shreveport.

Speaker 7 (28:55):
You've been there? Is there anything to do in Shreveport?

Speaker 3 (28:58):
Well, I don't know what stream Force like now, but
when I went there, I'll tell you I saw a
lot of gold teeth, a lot.

Speaker 4 (29:04):
Of people with a lot of gold teeth back in
nineteen eighty seven. Is Shreveport, Louisia as.

Speaker 7 (29:09):
Far as Jerrylands by the way, I.

Speaker 4 (29:12):
Have no, It wasn't close enough for us to go.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
Okay, we went to We went to a house party
down some stairs and there was a lot of Jerry
Coles and gold teeth.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
And we went to Club Mercedes.

Speaker 6 (29:23):
Yeah, in stream Ports.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
I wonder if Club Mercedes is still there.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
That sounds like one of those places that is not
there anymore. By the way, it's three hundred and thirty
miles from Shreveport to New Orleans. It's one it's one
side of the state to the other, the north to
the south. No, you're not even close to New Orleans,
but that's been mentioned as a possibility. New Mexico has
been mentioned as a possibility. And guys don't know about you, Mario,
I'm I'm more excited about the future of this team
starting next year with these guys all coming back, with

(29:49):
Joanah Coleman and Adam Muhammad and and DeMont Williams and
four of the five linemen that started the game today,
and Denzel Boston coming back. That excites me way more
than whatever game they're gonna play.

Speaker 5 (30:01):
Yeah, but what excites me is is what you just said,
except the future getting to play in the Bowl Game.
And I think Coach Fish is gonna allow a lot
of these young guys as a recruiting tool for what
they can see themselves doing next year and let them
play in the Bowl Game.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
All right.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
I just think you look at it. We won six games.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
We won half of our games minimum, you know, we
you know, miracles happened. Maybe we could win seven, but
we won at least half of our games this year
with an offensive line that we built in maybe a
couple of weeks with a quarterback that doesn't really fit
the coaches system, with everybody learning new things and new
players and all of that, and not really being ready

(30:40):
for spring ball because we didn't have enough guys to really,
you know, challenge each other. So imagine having this whole
recruiting season, the ability to go back into portal, the
ability to get your quarterback in and all those things.
The exponential growth that could happen between this year and
next year could be great. So yes, I too, am
extremely excited about the future of this.

Speaker 7 (31:00):
I'm excited about going home and going to bed. To
be honest with you, we got a.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Fifty do our gift card. Chris kid back in the
studio to Zeke's Pizza. Uh four nine four five one,
