Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
The Morning Breeze on demand You.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Two at seven to nine on the base number one
for relaxing favorites for your morning. It's ninety eight point
one The Breeze, The Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
This is the moment we've been waiting for all morning.
It is finally here we get to announce this week's
Morning Breeze Person of the Week.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
People in the Bay Area doing good things for others
is a quick summary of this, and that's definitely the
case today.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah, we've been taking your nominations and this week Ashley
nominated Derek. Ashley is on the phone with us. Tell
us why Derek is so great and so deserving of
this award.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
He's just an all around role model citizen, just really
cares about people.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
And he's the funniest person I ever met.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
How do you know him?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
We met at Postmasters it's like a public speaking club,
and then he invited me to church. I went to
a Spanish class. We're just friends.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Okay, So he has been teaching for twenty five years.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
He's also been principal in that time.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Oh wow, whoa what a guy?

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Yeah, right now, he's actually all week.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
They're at a church camp with no technologies and they
have no phone access.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
We have no way to contact him to let him
know that he's our Morning Breeched person of the work.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
I know, but that's okay because we have you and
you can kind of speak on his behalf because you
obviously know his story so well since you're the one
that nominated him.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
He actually got me a newspaper article when I was
competing in speech, so it's now his turn to get
some recognition.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
That's so nice. You mentioned in your letter to us
that the seniors went out of their way to ask
him to deliver their graduation commencement address.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Yes, he's done multiple high schools as a principal. They
really like him, so, you know, for the kids to
go out of their way and ask an adult, would
you give the commencement address, it's a big deal.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
The other thing I liked from your entry, Ashley, is
that you said that mister Leonard is oftentimes a father
figure to many of these students, offering a should to
cry on and somebody to confide in.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Absolutely, yeah, he's really a rock to depend on. You
can just see on his Facebook. His daughter is just
he cares so much. He has such a big heart.
It's all about family in the community.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
And then on the weekends he's a comedian.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Yeah, a few times a month he goes and he
gets paid to just make people laugh.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
He's so witty on.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Email, which is tough. Being witty on email is super hard.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Yeah, he's like a high strung person, so just that
anxiety and just making fun of everything that could go wrong.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
That's what makes him a natural funny person.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Yeah, self deprecating those are always the best comics.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Oh, totally.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Well, we're excited to make him our Morning Breeze person
of the Week, and along side you talking about how
great he is, we're also awarding him brunch for two
on the Bay courtesy of City Cruises, so he'll be
able to go enjoy the Bay one Sunday morning.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Oh wow, that is so nice.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
I was making a bet with him that I bet
I could guess his dog's name on that bet, so
I'll probably get to go have brunch with him, which
would be awesome.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
That is the most random bet, But we're excited it
worked out for you this way.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Definitely.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Oh you are awesome. Well, so nice to talk to you. Ashley,
and thank you for reaching out to us. We appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
That is so nice. This is so great. You guys
do this.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Oh we love doing it. We love doing it, but
we couldn't do it without you, so thank you for
nominating it.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Absolutely, thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
And now that Ashley has nominated Derek and Derek has
one as this week's Person of the Week, it means
we're onto the next and looking for our next Morning
Breeze Person of the Week for next week.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
We sure are so. If there is somebody in your life,
a relative, a coworker, just somebody doing good things for others,
we want to hear about them. Make those nominations on
