Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is West Michigan's Morning News. Steve Kelly and Brett
Pakias Schmidti back with us soon. Back to the international desk.
Jonathan Savage with Fox News Radio in London this morning.
Thanks for doing this today.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Hello, good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
President Trump says Israel has agreed to conditions for a
sixty day ceasefire. Talk to us about where we stand,
at least between those two countries. Hamas likes the idea.
Where are they.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah, we don't know exactly what the conditions are, And
to be honest, if these conditions are what Israel had
already agreed to, we may not be much closer to
an actual ceasefire because there are wide differences between Israel
and Hamas. Amas has always said that they will agree
to a temporary cease fire so long as it lasts
until the war ends for good, whereas Israel will only
(00:50):
agree to a pause and then resuming fighting at the
end of this period. If Hamas hasn't agreed to their demands,
so we wait to hear the actual details of the
proposal are, and we wait to hear an official response
to the offer from Hamas.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
What sort of hostilities still exist between the two You
turn on the news. We've got Fox News on one channel.
Buildings are still burning in Gaza. What's left.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, there are still air strikes targeting various parts of Gaza,
and Israel says that Hamas hides behind civilians, that has
command and control centers underneath hospitals and refugee camps. It
says that it has to continue to push Hamas and
to find out where Hamas is hiding in various parts.
(01:40):
They've got a land campaign as well as an air campaign,
and that many many people, of course, as we know,
are dying. There's also the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Many
Palestinians would appreciate even the shortest pause to allow aid
in and to allow for a let up in the bombing.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
We hear that net and Yah who may visit the
United States next week. What will come from that?
Speaker 2 (02:03):
I think a lot could happen between now and then.
President Trump says he'll be very firm with Benjamin Natan
Yahoo because President Trump, as we know, is very keen
to end the war in Gaza. He's explicitly stated that
he's going for a Nobel Peace Prize, and that would
be one step towards that. So they will be talking
about that, no doubt. They'll talk about the situation with
(02:24):
Iran following the end of Operation Rising Lion, that was
Israel's US supported assault on Iran. A couple of other things.
We might talk about a trade deal between the United
States and Israel, and perhaps even the prospect of Israel
normalizing relations with some of its Arab neighbors.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Anything more about capabilities when it comes to enriching uranium
in Iran. We've heard conflicting reports again.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yeah, I mean, it's still pretty unclear. We're still waiting
to find more information from the various intelligence agencies and
maybe even some more information from Iran itself. I mean,
Iran's foreign minister has come out today, in fact and
said that the bombing seriously damaged the four Down nuclear site.
That was the one that was deep under the mountain
(03:13):
that the bunker busting bombs were used on. Were told
that they were seriously and heavily damaged. Iran meanwhile, has
ended cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, so the
chances of international inspectors getting in to have a look
are diminishing.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Mad Is Jonathan Savage with Factioneer's Radio in London. Thank
you thank you,
