Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Emmy nominations came out this week. Let's talk to
time to Jay Powers with Fox News Radio to see
if the show you like has made the list or
maybe got snubbed. Tanya, people love to talk about that.
Thanks for doing this today.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Sure, thanks for having me on.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
I'd Susan Lucci do no, wait a minute, those decades ago.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
So that's the daytime Emmys.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Oh sorry, let's see. That's what I know. That's why
you're here. What's big on the list this year?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Severance? That is one of the it probably is the
biggest one. It had twenty seven Emmy nominations when they
came out this week. The studio led to comedy nominees
with twenty three nominations, both of those Apple TV plus
the big year for Apple TV plus the do you

(00:51):
watch Severance? First of all, let me ask you that
I have not.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Okay, but it sounds like I should be right.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, it is. It is quite It has gotten a
lot of buzz, a lot of headlines. The fact that
it really got a lot of Emmy nominations was not
really a surprise to me because of the just the
whole way that it's done, the acting, you know, basically
the characters, well, a lot of the main characters have
dual roles. You know, there's the person that they are

(01:24):
inside the company when they are at work, and then
there's the person that they are outside the company when
they're not at work, and the two don't know each other,
and it's the whole premise of the show is just
quite interesting. There's some really good acting in it. I
have caught up with it and I can't wait for
the next next season to come out. But that one

(01:45):
is is definitely one of those that just you know,
kind of swept things. The studio, like I said, is
also huge. There were also a lot of nominations, especially
when you're looking in the in the comedy category. Hacks
got fourteen, the Bear got thirteen. There's a lot of
controversy over whether the Bear belongs in the comedy category.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, I don't see that. We loved the Bear and
thought this was a really good season. But there's not
a lot of yuck yucks.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
No, No, there isn't. There were you know, white load
of hbos. You know, white load of got some acting nominations.
Four of the cast members got acting nominations for that.
It also got I think twenty three nominations in the
drama category, second to Severance, and that there were also

(02:35):
have you Seen The Pit? That's another one of those stories,
one of those shows that has gotten a lot of buzz.
Noel Wiley in the Pit and it got nominated for
Best Drama Series. Also The Diplomat, that one has had
a lot of buzz, The Last of Us and or
Paradise another you know, big streaming show, Slow Horses. All

(02:56):
of those were up for Best Drama Series. Comedy. Like
I said, Acts the Bear Studio, only murders in the building,
Abbott Elementary. Nobody wants this shrinking and what we do
in the shadows, you know, the I can't wait to
see also what wins for Outstanding Limited Series, because in
that one you had black Mirror Monsters. The Lyle and

(03:17):
Eric Menendez story one of those things that has really,
you know, touched off a lot of you know, real life,
you know, courtroom stuff as well. That story if you've
been all around long enough to remember when that broke,
and that was a big story decades ago. And that's
one of the reasons it's back in the in the
headlines now is in part because of this of this series.
That's why a whole new generation, you know, gen Z.

(03:39):
A lot of gen z ers are very invested in
the Eric and looman Endo story as a result of this.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
And I know we're up against time, but we really
enjoyed The Residence. One of its stars gets the nominations,
but Netflix cancels it right after they did.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
They did, and I was like, what are y'all thinking?
Because it was it was well written, it was well acted,
and I thought it was that would do. But in
the whole cast were just great in that.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
That is Tanya J. Powers with Fox News Radio. We'll
get the list of all the emmings in the podcast
section at woodradio dot com. Thanks Tanya.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
