Speaker 1 (00:00):
Says, there was an accident, right, Mikayla.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Yeah, thirty six thirty seven, was it south of thirty Yeah,
south of thirty six thirty seven About a mile of
traffic backed up.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
And then my brother Matt sent a picture of the roadways.
He said, you might want to see this and talk
about it on the air. Seventy one South between thirty
six and Polaris. It is jam packed out there. But
they've always said, you know a lot of people leave
for Thanksgiving. They'll leave on a Tuesday, at Wednesday, at Thursday,
but everybody comes back on the exact same day, which
(00:33):
is this Sunday. So if you are out on the
roadways and you noticed something other than the low gas
prices which everybody's excited about, so yeah, you're probably stuck
in traffic, or at least it's slow moving, but at
least you have cheaper gas prices, you do and give
us a call. We have a few minutes.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
If you're on the road, let us know what you're
seeing on your way home from your holiday travels, because
we know that is what most of this traffic has
to do with six one four eighty six six one
four eight two one WTVN.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Not just traffic but weather. You know, snow is playing
a role in a lot of these places, in fact,
in the northern part of our state, and they're here
in Ohio. My son, Kylon, you know what I thought.
I thought. Let me back up for a second. I
thought so much of all the people who have had
kids who go away to college, I get it how
(01:24):
happy you are when they come home for the holidays.
Because Kyland is currently living in Strongsville and I have
not seen him for a while, so he was coming home.
I could not wait for him to get out of
that car and give him a big, huge hug. That's
my firstborn, that's my son. He is living in the
Strongsville area, northern part of the state, in Cleveland. It
(01:44):
was so great to see him again. So for all
of you parents who have kids who don't go to
Ohio state twenty minutes up the road, like Cammy, did,
I get it why you're so excited to have your
kids come home. It is a wonderful, wonderful feeling. But
my point is they do have some snow up there.
And now this delays from flightwear dot Com. It is
(02:05):
consistently changing total delays now in the world for air
flight twenty three thousand, two hundred and ten delays. Here
in America eight five hundred and fifty eight delays, and
there's more than one thousand flight cancelations. Can you imagine
being stuck at the airport.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
No, and my sisters thought they would be. I mentioned
that earlier as they were flying out of Jacksonville or
Savannah to get home, or actually Lauren flew out of Atlanta.
They had to drive back to Atlanta yesterday, and you know,
when you're in a hub and you have a connecting flight,
it just gets worse, you know, from a backup. They
both got home thankfully, but I know a lot of
people that did not. I'm so glad we came home yesterday.
(02:44):
I do have to say that it felt like a
fast and furious trip, but it was better than trying
to make it home on Sunday. I just saw somebody
on Facebook said, can I get an extra day between
Sunday and Monday? Because I think we all really need it.
Probably maybe it's always all hard when you have a
Thanksgiving Thursday and Black Friday and all of those things,
when you're celebrating with family and friends.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
I wonder how many people went shopping. I was watching
different posts and people would put pictures out of how
crowded the malls were. Did you come on? I didn't
think you knew any better than that.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah, I didn't.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
But it surprises me that Black Friday is still so
popular because of how many people shop online. And don't
you have Cyber Monday coming up tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
And tomorrow and then Giving Tuesday is Tuesday for like
charities to get to. So yeah, we've created like a
holiday out of all of it, leading out of Black
Friday to everything else. I will say I did see
that low.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
I think it was Low's. This was really smart.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
You got like a two thousand dollars voucher appliance or
something like that. Some Facebook friend went on Black Friday
to stand in line for that. So if there are
things you can do in person to attract people into
your store and Black Friday, I think it's great. I
like going out and shopping.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
I do. I just wish I had more time for it.
But I do like to go out and shop.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
I would rather do that than chop online.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Well, my mom was a shop ahulic she was. She
would shop every day or every night. If given the opportunity.
In fact, when Randy and I took her back out
shopping toward the end of her life and she was
in a wheelchair and we'd wheel her through the store,
she was literally high fiving all the clothes because she
was so happy to be back in his store again,
touching them this right high five in this sweater and
(04:24):
this shirt and all these different stories.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
You did not get your frugalness from your mom or you.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
I did get frugleness absolutely So how did How was
she such a shopper and frugal shop the deals, loved
loved shopping like that was her hobby. But love, love,
love finding the deals like she was always the Marshalls,
TJ Max, the shot and Stein's and my grandma her
mom was always garage sales. So although they loved the
act of shopping, it was even more powerful to save, save, save,
(04:51):
look for those best deals. You know what. On November
twenty ninth, a couple days ago, would have been her
ninety fifth birthday.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Ninety five, happy heavenly birthday, karm.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Yeah, I went to the cemetery, sat on our bench
a little bit, and like, I can't believe we have
to be here to be with you on your birthday.
So again, if you have your parents, oh my gosh,
enjoy every single second, every minute. Listen. I can't feel
bad though she lived to almost be ninety five years old.
You had such a great relationship with your mom too.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Not everybody has that relationship, and I just think it's beautiful.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
That you do. Obviously, Kyleen, you've got a great relationship
with your mom. She was quite the feisty and fun
little seventy one year old. It was just on the
air with her. I do I do.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
I know, they're amazing, And we were talking about this.
There were Thanksgiving and memories and when you talk about shopping,
it makes me remember one of our favorite traditions is
when there was Lazarus downtown, Yes, and you would go
down and they used to Koda would do a Christmas bus.
I don't know if you guys have ever been on that.
There was like a they put a fireplace in the
back and they'd take you around to see the Nativity
(05:49):
scene and the lights on all the buildings. Then you'd
go back to Lazarus and shop and then the talking Tree,
the Secret Sanna. Yes, that's what made it feel like Christmas. Now,
I feel like it's hard when you're going shopping. Everybody's
just kind of just shoving people around, you know, it's
kind of different.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Well, shopping malls aren't saying as much anything that it's
sad at it.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Touttle, I was gonna say, I live right behind Tuttle,
and I couldn't tell you the last time I live
right I couldn't tell you the last time I've been there.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Well, think of City Center. They used to have an
outdoor skating rink. Wow, I wasn't here.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
The Grits, Well they have live you know or live music.
They have you know, orchestras, and it was that was
that felt like Christmas and warm and fuzzy.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
And I think you have to.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
I think there's a lot available in Columbus. There's a
lot of things to do, but you have to plant
it out. It's not all necessarily sitting in one place.
So I had to make sure one thing that we're doing.
And if you guys have heard about this, but Land
Grant has curling during the winter Land Grant Brewing Company
and they also do ice bumper cars and so.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
What wait, ice bumper car?
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yeah, they have like ice that they put bumper cars on,
and so we're taking the boys. I signed up a
couple of weeks ago. We're taking the Boys one night
over there to do the ice bumper cars on the thirteen.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
You're gonna have to say video. I can't even believe
that they allow ice bumper cars, but it sounds awesome.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Probably gonna pee my pants.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
We're getting hit and having a beer. Rights bumper cars fun,
But you do you have to kind of look at
what's going on and kind of plot out your plan.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
It feels like you can't just always show up and
get the Christmas vibe.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
All right?
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Coming up next, guys, we are talking real estate because
is the holidays? Are the holidays a good time to
buy a home? To sell a home? And President Trump
has kind of tossed around the idea of a fifty
year mortgage. Yeah, what does it mean? It's kind of crazy, it.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Does, but maybe there's something to it.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
I don't know. I think that's kind of out there.
We're going to find out what. And you know, I
I love this administration what they've cover, what they're doing,
but that one, I'm not fifty year mortgage doesn't help
people afford home we're going to find out. Yes, I
think that's the whole idea of trying to make the
affordability market better for housing, but it just seems so outlandish.
(08:19):
We're going to talk about it. If you're in the
market to buy or sell your house, you need to
stay tuned.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Yes, this is what matters on six ten at WTV
