Speaker 1 (00:00):
No.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (00:01):
I was lecturing at church at four pm Mass yesterday,
and this is what I came away with. I did
not drink the wine yesterday because I had a little
bit of a sore throat. So I was like, I'm
not going to drink the wine and expose anyone else
to this. But my voice didn't sound like this, and
I went to sleep. At about four o'clock this morning.
I woke up and my throat hurt more. And now
(00:21):
it's this could be allergies, as it.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Possible, it could be what do you think anyone listening
out there see? But it doesn't hurt you? Not right now?
Speaker 3 (00:31):
No, I mean, and I haven't taken any tail in
all since about twelve hours ago.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Did you gargle with saltwater?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
I did, and it'd been well.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
I mean, do I sound the same as when I
called you earlier? I called Mindy and I said, Mindy,
I don't know if I can do the show. You're
going to have to tell me. She's like, you sound
kind of sexy.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
I do. I think when people lose their voice, I
think it's kind of that sexy and this that comes across.
But to me, it's no big deal. Do you know
how many times I've been on the air, either on
the radio or on TV with half of a voice,
But I do it to myself. I know exactly why
I d like I am, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
I know, because you're screaming, because I'm scaging so much.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Yeah, well, I always felt I felt bad, and that's
why I called you because I remember having to do
the morning show. It's really hard to call off on
the morning show. And you know that from working weekend
mornings too.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
For so long.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
I always felt bad going on with a voice like this.
I was like, oh, the viewers probably going to be irritated.
But I mean, if you.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Felt like I was sexy and I feel like I
can do it, I don't feel bad.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
I just sound like this.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Six one four eight two one nine eight eighty six
six one four eight two one nine eight eighty six.
Do you think Mikayla sounds that bad? Do you think
she can make it through from now until six o'clock?
If it gets bad, then go ahead and go right,
we have a backshow, Like you're not even really going
to be by yourself in the case it does get bad,
I no, no, no, But I don't want you to
(01:51):
get worse. You know, I don't want you to wake
up tomorrow morning and not be able to speak at all. Right,
although the people you work with maybe love that.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
I hie Monday, and Tom's out for one more day,
my deputy, So I mean, hey, might be a good thing.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
You look rested and.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Refresh, you know. Got back from the beach from North
Myrtle Beach yesterday afternoon. We drive. We like to leave
like at four in the morning because when you do,
you really bypass all the traffic and any accidents that
happened because not a lot of people are on the road.
So we made great time came back and you really
do feel there is just something about a beach vacation.
(02:31):
There's something about laying in the sun around saltwater, hearing
the waves that just kind of rejuvenates you. And I
think everyone needs to take a break out of their life.
And I love my life, don't get me wrong. I
love the people who are in my circle who if
it's family, if it's friends. I love the jobs that
I do, everything about it. But sometimes you just have
(02:52):
to take a break from it all and be thankful
for everything that you do have. And I think the
beach is a great place to ref on what you
do have and to look forward for another year. You know,
I know, we talked a little bit about people look
at January first, restarting over and looking back at what
all happened through the year. Randy and I like to
use our beach vacation as that, oh so much happened
(03:16):
within our last beach vacation to this beach vacation, within
the last summer to this summer, you know, losing his dad,
losing my dog Elsie, getting a new dog, Nila, him
getting a new job with Crystal Ray, and now him
becoming the new head basketball.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Coach again, Cammi graduating or.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Cammi graduating, Cammy ending her softball career with Ohio State,
Kylin moving out of the city for the first time,
living in Strong as Strong as well. So we're walking
on the beach and we're like, well, what do you
think we're going to talk about next year at this time?
So it's just a good place to do that. But
you had a busy week here at home. I went
to see Hamilton, You went to cos after dark, you
lost your voice.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
The boat House reopened downtown on you know, the restaurant
and the place on.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
The river used to be Confluenced Park.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Yeah yeah, so right there, and they still call it that,
just a different feel. And then I felt like, oh,
I went to the library's book festival preview on Friday night,
So that might be the reason I don't have a voice.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
I did too much this week.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
But I will tell you what.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Central Ohio is so alive in the summer and speaking
of doing life, and I think I said that about this,
like you have to do this and experience it while
you have it going on.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
You do, you do, and it's all about being present
and you do that.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
I know.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
I know you weren't born and raised here, but you
have definitely made Central Ohio home and your boys were
born here.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Yeah, and well, and you guys make it home right
like it wouldn't be home without people like you, good
friends who are like family. And I'm just fortunate, you know.
And I'm staring at Joe Schmitz right here. We spent
fourth of July with him, you know.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
It just people are very.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Welcoming in Central Ohio and it's a place we love
and we do call home.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
So you do, and you're still invested in the community,
and by going to Hamilton, by going to Kosai after Dark.
Hell was it?
Speaker 3 (05:04):
It was great?
Speaker 1 (05:05):
You know what, I don't know if you would have
gone to Star Wars, would you've expected a lot of
people really being Star Wars out.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Because when you weren't here. When doctor Bertley was previewing it,
and he said to expect just that that you will
have all kinds of people in character, and that they
stay in character while they're at Kosai and k.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
There was a guy dressed as the Princess layout fit
from Job after Hut. Yes, he had on like the
bikini top and like, oh it was a lot that
was the most extreme the rest of it. I mean
you saw a little bit of everything. What I will
say is that exhibit is incredible. The detail and the
(05:50):
size of the things that are inside of it.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
It's just pretty neat.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
So if you're a Star Wars fan and you haven't been, Chris,
I don't know, are you a Star Wars fan?
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah, have you been yet?
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Not yet?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
You gotta go.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
I've got to figure out when to go.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
And you got tickets? Didn't doctor Burtley give you some
tickets to go?
Speaker 4 (06:09):
Yes? I just just got to figure out when to go.
Do not sleep on this, it's I've got it. We're
planning a big event for work, so so during the
week is hard. So I might wait until August once
I'm all caught up and cause it's it's it goes
until what September.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, it does go through somethingial day. You know, he's
been so busy watching dogs. Also, Andrew, our good friend
Andrew Heston, he had to come over and stay the
night with our dogs on Jane on July fourth, oh
for the fireworker. So yes, big thanks to Andrew, big
thanks to Chris. And then when of Cammi's best friends
from high school still today even you know, carrying through
(06:45):
that friendship. He stayed the rest of the week, but
then he works in Columbus, so Chris had to come
during his lunch break today. It was a community effort
to take care of our four dogs off the beach vacation. Yeah,
but we're back. And Michayla, your voice may not be
working well, and you look great your glasses, march you're sweater.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
But we do have a lot going on because I
know maybe you've heard of Crystal Ray. You have specifically
because you work with some students. Yeah, they're awesome, but
a lot of people don't know that it even exists
and what it is. So we're going to get the
whole big lowdown on Crystal Ray and what it is.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Yeah, we're excited.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
We're gonna have the principal and alum one of a
fairly recent grad too. So we're gonna do that here
in the first hour. A second hour. Oh no, I'm sorry,
that's it.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
The second hour. No, that's coming up Crystal Rays, right,
you're right, sorry, No, it's okay.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
We have so many Columbus things going on today.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Next we have the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Yeah, and so they're doing something really cool with OSU.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
It sounds like, yes, there's a big fundraiser, but what
they're really, what they're really stressing that they do is
working with at risk kids to get them interested in
the orchestra, get them interested in the symphony in the
theater itself. So it's kind of a combination that they
have come up with to really help out this community.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Yeah, and then I feel like we're a little bit
about the arts and education today based on how this
all is going. Also, next hour and this is one
that had Bendy was on her vacation. I was like, well,
what else can we do today? And so this was
one that I think is so interesting. Have you ever
heard of sleep paralysis?
Speaker 2 (08:20):
I feel like I have it, Really, I don't know.
Doesn't mean you don't get a lot of sleep.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
So that's a great question. Is like, I think it's
like you're paralyzed. You're sleeping, but you're awake.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Oh no, I definitely don't because I don't even.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Just don't even sleep, but I know you don't sleep,
and this would be I'm curious what this movie is about.
There's a group that has written directed a future film
called Aimless, which is a psychological mystery, and they've gotten
some great grants and they're almost fully funded.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
They're going to come in and talk about the movie Aimless.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
All right, sleep stick around for that. And also, this
is the fiftieth anniversary of Duda Duda Jaws. Jaws. To
this day, it's still ranked as one of the most
scariest movies ever made. And I get why, Oh, of
course you get why. Yeah, yes, yes, And when you
(09:14):
are at the beach, you can't help think of what's
lurking below.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
I know you were just there. Did you guys have
any shark sidings or anything like?
Speaker 2 (09:21):
No, but I told you that one twenty one year
old drown like the day or two before we were there,
and I kept thinking of that too awful the whole
time you're in the water. You know, just your heart
breaks for that situation.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Well, Jaws is one of the reasons I probably had
a little fear going into the water when I.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Was a kid.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
So we're going to talk about Jaws. Did that have
an effect on you when you saw it?
Speaker 1 (09:42):
I mean it was made in the seventies, Yeah, but
I think it just rained supreme in the eighties and.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
There were Jaws everything. It broke records at the box
office that like, so much money it made. It was
Stephen Spielberg's first major movie. Did it go to like
Jaws four? I think I went to Jaws to me?
Did it go to? So we want to talk about
Jaws coming up in the five o'clock hour two? Did
you see it?
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Remember?
Speaker 2 (10:06):
How many times have you seen it? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:08):
So all of that coming up hanging with us. This
is what matters
